She'd done it. She'd used the obisbaya ritual to find his soul. She'd used the Cauldron to put him back together.
She barley noticed the way the sky tore itself open. The war that was being waged around her tower.
Aleksander wasn't healed, why wasn't he healed?! What had everything been for if not to bring him back whole?!
She wore the Asteri crown, Eosphoros reign had ended a two years after he'd died. She hadn't cared what this would mean. They had put succession plans in place in case they died when their children were young.
She had survived the year long trials for this. What was the point of all that power if he didn't come back to her?!
"I can bring him back for you. But you must give me your crown."
She turned from Aleksander to the thing in the corner. She didn't know how she knew it had been there long before it spoke.
She noted the jewels on its skin. They weren't sitting on the skin. They look half absorbed. The skin was the same as most Asteri skin, a white inner glow.
But as she looked up into its face she recoiled. Those were not the eyes of any Asteri she had ever seen. They were galaxies, colors of purple and black swirled in them. Their pupils seemed to devour the light in them.
"What - what are you?"
Because this couldn't be some regular Asteri. It grinned and leaned toward her.
"Before the Asteri, Stelari, you precious little mate. What existed?"
She swallowed and pressed her hand into Aleksander's chest trying to keep herself grounded.
She'd heard of Asteri who worshipped this. The Great Devour. The Shadow in the Cauldron.
"The Void."
It grinned, teeth a blinding white as it moved toward her.
"Yes. I birthed them all. I was asleep see? A blissful, peaceful sleep but they roused me. They sacrificed their prisoners to me. But then - then I took them. Do you know that story little Starling? Do you know what happened to the Asteri Homeworld?"
"They tore it apart."
The words where a whisper, she couldn't feel Aleksander. She couldn't feel anything anymore. She was just floating, drawing closer to those bottomless eyes.
"Yes. Yes. But do you know before? No? No that's alright. That's alright don't cry little Star. It's alright."
It laughed, touching her cheek to wipe a tear away. She hadn't realized she was crying.
It's touch didn't just felt cold, it felt like a ice that was sloping into her bones. A chill that would never leave her alone.
"Before the Asteri had their war. I ruled them hmm? I ruled them and I devoured any of them that they tried to use against me. They tasted so nice, so delicious."
It flicked it's hand, blood falling from the jewelry onto the ground. A cracked healed as she watched the blood seeping into it.
"There were three queens they - I liked them you know? Cute little stars that orbited me. But then - then are you listening?!"
It snapped its finger in front of her face. Her eyes snapped to it, the sound made her ears ring.
"Good, good you have to listen okay? I need someone to listen. The three queens overthrew me and locked me away. And I warned them right? Because they Fae go to the Cauldron. The Witches to the old world. But the Asteri and Stelari? They are mine and they come to me. I was denied. I will not be denied! I am their sire and dam. I will have them bow or cease to exist."
She looked to Aleksander, the tears coming faster now. It crystalized that whatever this this was - it would doom them all.
It was powerful, more powerful than even Rigelus or Eosphoros and they were the most powerful Asteri she knew of.
Should Aleksander come back to that world? But did she want to deal with all of this without him?
Would it all matter if he wasn't here?
She gazed up at it, it's magic was curling back into itself. She didn't know how she knew that but she did. Its eyes were violet, the jewelry still grotesque and hanging off it's skin.
"You want the crown? I - will give us peace? The witches? Will you give us peace and heal him?"
It tilted its head, violet eyes like storms. Like stars dying and being reborn.
"Yes. I'll even take that Merzost from -"
"WIll he be able to weild? Will - what of his soul? I can -"
"You both are too powerful and valuable to be marred by that taint. You have Asteri blood, witch blood too. The taint I take will free you both. You'll both be free. Now, the crown first."
She wanted to argue, to refuse. But she knew she'd do anything for Aleksander whole. Even - even doom their world to something as volatile as this thing."
She held the crown out to him. Pulsing with energy as it was.
--------
It unravled the crown making it into a pendant. Or perhaps it was always one. It touched them, taking that weight, that sluggishness from them.
"You both made the drop but they didn't take this from you. This poison they first put in witches veins. To keep them docile, to keep their power eating them from the inside. They're smart little things aren't they? My toys. But they will be more. The witches will become like them. A new race of stars and light. A thing to be feared and ravaged."
She clung to Aleksander feeling light but also dizzy.
It turned to the window, it's violet eyes seemed to blaze. It's nails dug into the stone chipping it.
It didn't give a monologue. It didn't give a speech.
"Kneel."
The voice sounded the same to Anastasiya as it would to Rigelus. Close, agaisnt his ear. And he did. The wave after of Asteri and Stelari did. All across the world they did. Some knew that voice, what it meant. Others? Others didn't and it was a nightmare they wouldn't soon forget.
//took me 3 hours to write this!! For Sarai and Viren and Rhys!! And Eos?//
The single command tore through the kingdoms, a ripple of a crashing wave that was soon to come. For many, it was a sign, a sign of many things that were to come. Those who knew were torn been delighted at the idea of their return, while others felt the chill of fear flow through them.
Stories had been shared and told for so long, whispers among the generations of an era thought to be long gone. There was a reason things were the way they were, reason why the three queens had turned on them. They had their supporters, they had those who were against it.
Eosphoros stared with anticipation and fear as she slowly sunk to her knees, the whispers of caution and concern flooded her. They were awake, they were free. There was no telling what view they would take in this matter, who it would turn upon, and what damage it would exert.
Was this the end of her legacy? That her reign would end in everything they knew, would she become the new story told? She could only imagine how it would be warped and twisted as the years passed.
----------
Violet eyes widened as she turned and looked across the study towards Viren, the voice was just a soft whisper that seemed to echo between the two of them. The stories she was raised upon, the lessons that had been beaten into her when she had refused to listen. She knew of them, she knew how much Cassandra used them as a cautionary tale.
She barely noticed that he had risen from his desk and moved towards her, she hadn't noticed that he was soon at her side. His hands holding her own, her panic was clear on her face. She would respect them, she would not seek to fight against them, only keep their home safe.
Viren's grip tightened as he leaned forwards, his forehead pressed against her own. Their minds met, their powers entwined. They didn't need to speak, everything in that moment was shared. He wanted to ground her as much as she wanted to ground him, a shared understanding and concern for the other.
"We will do this together." Viren whispered softly to her. He had a home to protect, children who were still home, and a beautiful mate who had just come home. His hand traced down her side, the wounds that were now healed still haunted him as he remembered the days after she had come back from the trails.
----------
Rhysand barely reacted when the voice came, his jaw tightened as he rested his chin upon his hand. It had taken everything in him not to turn his court upon Anastasiya, after what she had done to his mother. She was one of the few sacred being in his life who should never be touched, who meant the world to him.
Now there was a new player in the game, one who was commanding them to kneel. No. He refused, he didn't know who they were but he was not some dog to command.

AH SO PRETTY!! Like if she looks this powerful and ethereal how do the actual Asteri Imperial Family look?? Eosphoros holds the line against the demon princes in Hel, but isn't the Empress of the Asteri. 👀

Aslan Jade, the riddle of a name ~ Banana Fish 🍌🐠
With this meta I'll put an halt to my BF posts since I think I have made sense of what was bothering me in this manga and now I am satisfied enough to move on.
Fans have already pointed out that the etymology of Aslan's name is wrong in the manga, but alike other mistakes this one seemed quite strange to me.
'Aslan' is the Persian word for 'lion' (edit: not Persian, but Turkish) and since the imaginary around Ash is linked to felines it would have fitted to his character, then why not???
Furthermore Ash is very detailed about the meaning, he gives us three hints:
It is ancient Hebrew
It is from a prayer
It means 'daybreak'
Plus, it was given by his mother. How could Yoshida-sensei have made three mistakes in a frame? What stands out the most is the part about the prayer. To me a prayer in ancient Hebrew sounds aloud "Hey, it must be the Bible!!". So I looked out the words that in biblical Hebrew can be translated with 'dawn' and there are a lot:
Shachar
Shepharpar
Mishchar
Boqer
Alah
Or
Nesheph
None of them sounds like 'aslan', what then?
I took a step back and mused about the person who chose Ash's name. Astonishingly we know nothing about her, neither her name, nor her age nor her appearance (no photos). Even Blanca couldn't find a thing, isn't it suspicious?
I mean, even flies have names in BF, why is Ash's mother a nobody? We know that she was an outsider:
Mysterious, isn't it?
Then I recalled a similar figure in this manga: SHE
When Nico tells this story Ash hasn't done anything special yet and still his words sound prophetic. The devil is traditionally a former angel, familiar with the Bible and is called 'lucifer', the star of daybreak.
Where is it said in the Bible then? In Isaiah 14:12 it is said:
Eik nafalta mishamayim הֵ ילֵ ל
ben-shachar nigda'ta
la'aretz cholesh al-goyim
"How did it come that you have fallen from the sky, הֵ ילֵ ל, son of the dawn? Why have you been knocked out, you who reduced to the ground the nations?".
The word I left untranslated is the one that became "eosphoros" in the Greek translation and then "lucifer" in Latin. It wasn't a name in the original text, it was the name of a deity, son of Dawn, in Latin though and since the Bible was mostly read by Christians in its Latin translation then this word was often referred to as the name of the devil.
Wait, wait, wait! Everyone in this manga at least once has called Ash a demon 悪魔 'akuma' except Eiji, but this looks like a real clue. The star of the dawn, called Lucifer, is Venus, a planet associated with green stones, yes, jade too. The kanji used by Ash for daybreak is 'akatsuki' 暁, the same in 暁星 gyousei "morning star/Venus".
You will ask “And then? Lucifer can be synonymous of Daybreak but Aslan is not!”
Well, the other name of the devil is Satan, right? Look at this:
ASLAN-- SA7AN just change over the first two letters and put upside down the 'L'. Aslan means 'satan' which means 'lucifer/first light in the morning' which means 'daybreak'. The circle is closed and it is from Hebrew.
If Ash is a half demon it could explain why all the bad guys are enticed by him and why followers and pursuers are both damned to die as long as they stick by him. Besides, his fear of Jack-o'-lantern, the man who fooled the devil, is fitting too.
And so I came to understand Lao. Shorter accepted to betray Ash for his sister's sake, Blanca would have killed Eiji following his contract, even Eiji said at some point that he would kill to save Ash. Fortunately he didn't cross that line but had he stayed longer with the gang it would have been inevitable: he called Ash 'boss' too! Lao instead was the character who refused to kill Eiji after being ordered to because he believed that Eiji was innocent, taking the risk of getting Yut Lung angry. He was the most integral character in BF, the only one able to resist the devil's charm.

Eos and Basilia with 21
21. A Promise
OH YES I HAVE THE PERF IDEA--
@dragons-noose-hotel // @sleepysmeargle
It brought Eos great pain every time he saw the look on Basilia’s face whenever they were around children.
She would always look so overjoyed - so ecstatic to see children, that one of her hands would undoubtedly go to her own belly. He could see how much she wanted children.
But then, her expression would shift. Her eyes would dull and her hand would drop away from her belly like a heavy stone, and hang lifeless at her side. Her smile would disappear. Sadness would emanate off her.
Eosphoros knew that this was because she was the embodiment of destruction itself; why else would Charon, a Yveltal, a god among Pokemon, choose to stay faithfully by her side? Her power knew no bounds. She could level whole cities, raze forests, hell, she could cleave a mountain in half if she so desired.
It broke the Jirachi’s heart.
But he knew she could have a child. She was a woman, she was fertile, and it was fully natural. She may be the embodiment of destruction, but nothing could her body from doing something that it was made to do; something that only one with said female biology could do.
Create a child.
He flitted from his perch, shifting to his Whimsicott form with practised ease. He landed next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. She tensed, for a moment, then wrapped one of her ears around him, her arms crossing over her chest.
“Eos,” she greeted, her voice unwavering. A smile pulled at his lips. Of course it would be unwavering.
“Basilia, my darling,” he mused, nuzzling her head with his nose, “would it be alright if I promised you something?”
“Depends on what you’re going to promise,” she purred, clearly believing that this conversation was going to go in an entirely different direction.
Eosphoros chuckled, then grasped one of her hands in his, “my darling, I am going to promise you a child.”
He had never seen Basilia’s expression go from flirtatious to shocked so quickly. There was a sparkle of hope in her deadly eyes, and disbelief in her parted lips.
“... ... a child?” she repeated, her voice choked. He nodded.
“No matter how long it takes.”
He soon found himself engulfed in all of her limbs, Charon flapping around them and cackling, as the Yveltal did. The Gothipunny’s familiar sounded pleased with this promise. Eos was glad to know that he was accepted by the other legendary.
Eos easily held Basilia against him, and he shoulders shook with what he knew to be sobs, even if no sound left her.

Their enemies had been executed or bowed. Their bodies piled and light aflame.
Eosphoros felt the Wyrdkey around her neck, that pulse of cold heat. The touch of a star, or containing a peice of the primordial storm.
She looked to Anastasiya and Hypaxia, her eyes staying on the latter.
"And you trust Erewan Hypaxia?"
Hypaxia shifted those green eyes to her, she'd been watching their Weapon, that creature that had turned the tides in any war it was put into.
"I trust he wouldn't betray his mate, I trust that he is broken. His brothers are dead, his parents long dead. All he has her - and Kaltain is one of the most loyal people I know."
Anastasiya's lips twitched but she didn't speak. Hypaxia pretended not to notice. Eosphoros was just glad whatever infamous fued between them they didn't bring it here. At least they had more manners than those mates of theirs.
She didn't need to deal with children in her court. She turned from them, looking down at where Reshaye roamed. It was relatively docile now. It reminded her of a snake, goared and restful.
"Where do we keep it? I suppose neither of you will allow me to keep it?"
Neither female responded but Eosphoros could feel their collective rage at the idea. Eosphoros turned as the doors opened. Cithaeron stepped through, one of Tamlin's older brother. He winked, turning to Aleksander and Azriel.
"We couldn't find a solution where everyone was happy. I still don't know why we can't keep it back on the Kavalla Prison. Didn't those walls keep it contained?"
Eosphoros watched the way Anastasiya and Hypaxia softened as their mates reached them. She turned away, Cithaeron may be a lot of things - but he couldn't be that. She'd lost too many fucking people to think herself that lucky or fortunate.
"Well we could give it to one of the Prythian Courts? Day could build something -"
Cithaeron shook his head, settling by her. He didn't touch her, even if saw his fingers twitching to do so.
"The others would throw a fit. They'll act like children fighting over a toy."
//🥹🥹🥹🥹//
"That is a shame, a bunch of courts who cannot work together. They could have had bragging rights," she responded with a shrug. "Day would have had the knowledge and resources to build something, I am sure one of the other courts the materials and maybe another a location."
It didn't matter, it seemed that no one could really work together. Her eyes closed as she moved to sit, her mind traveling through the various thoughts and ideas. They needed to have the being put somewhere safe, away from prying eyes and those who wish to possession them.
Aleksander rolled his eyes and turned away from them, moving towards Anastasiya's side. His hand moved to rest upon her lower back, his body pressed close as he weighed out what was being said.
Eosphoros was taking the lead, it was something he did not entirely like. They came to her aid, they supported her.

//back to our current timeline//
Phaethon leaned back in his chair using a knife to cut his apple and eating it off knife. He occasionally gave some to Cirah in his lap. He frowned tisking and pulling the blade from her hands.
"Knives aren't for young blossoms."
He sighed and focused on Eosphoros again.
"You're pacing."
"I'm stressed Phaethon. I pace when I'm stressed."
He hummed and tilted his head. He held out the apple to her.
"Do you want some of our apple?"
Her eyes darkened as she looked at him, how carefree he seemed without a worry in the world. She knew he didn't understand it all, she had kept him at arm's length to some extent.
"No, not right now thank you." She responded before her focused settled on her daughter. Her precious daughter, the life she bore into this world.
She needed to secure it for her, she needed to protect it.

Rhagal watched her work, a pride shooting through him. She would be a great queen. He slid his eyes to Phosphorus but he wasn't watching his queen.
He was watching her ladies-in-waiting. He knelt down by one and Rhagal swallowed a cursed. Eosphoros must have known didn't she? The way they looked at each other.
Cyrene fingers curled in the threads of her dress. Phosphorus slowly got to his feet, they didn't touch. But the world seemed to stop for them. He swallowed and he turned to Eosphoros.
He wasn't just denying his own wants now was he? This was killing two other people too wasn't it? But it would force his mother's greatest fear to be realized. They would be thrust into this world that she and his father had worked so hard to leave.
He briefly caught her eyes and she rose an eyebrow at him. He swallowed barely able to breathe. Hadn't he dreamed of this moment? Hadn't she worn that necklace only today?
Had he?
Was this real?
It had been a mutual understanding, an unsaid secret that the pair of them had come to early on in their lives. What Phosphorus did and desired was his own, as long as he did not make it public. As long as he respected her cause, how hard she worked and what those outside of their private lives saw.
Just the same way he did for her when she stole looked with Rhagal, or the stolen nights she had with him when they were alone. He knew just as she knew about Cyrene, but they both knew the long game they played.
Though she hadn't expected Rhagal to catch on, for him to notice the interest Phosphorus took in another. She watched the switch flip on, she watched him recognize what he was seeing.
She had respected Sarai too much to even make a move when she first felt the pull, when she had allowed herself to give in just a little bit. She had watched that female fight so hard, pull herself out from the ruins of Cassandra's folly.
Could she really give into what she wanted with Rhagal?
"Rhagal and I are going to take a walk, I do not need an escort."

"Rhagal? What are you -"
Eosphoros moved from her seat toward him. Phosphorus watched them, there wasn't the possesibness he thought he'd see.
He had watched his baby siblings fall in love. He had watched them find the ones who would complete them. He was so proud and happy for them.
He thought he could stand aside. He thought he could divorce himself from the person Eosphoros had become in this war.
"They're going to level Parthos. We all need to leave - now."
"What fo you meane they're going to level Parthos? Who?" Eosphere turned and looked towards Phosphorus, worried etched upon her features.
News hadn't reached them, the lines to their communication had failed to get any word to them that there was any danger.
"We need to gather our family, if we are to leave everyone is to leave with us."

She watched him turn to walk away. Her heart clenched and she was already calling after him before she thought it through.
Rhagal turned to look at her. The pink petals of the cherry blossoms framing his face like a god rising from the earth.
"What? You look conflicted."
"I - what I'm about to say will probably make things worse. I -"
His lips twitched and he smirked at her.
"Why? Are you rescinding your Knightsship that quickly? I haven't lead a battle in your name yet."
She tried to laugh but her her chest felt like it was being squeezed like a vice.
"I wished it had been you Rhagal."
His face shuddered and then he as moving, or maybe she was. She didn't know but she clung to him as he curled his hands around her.
"I wished it had been me too Eosphoros."
He cupped her face, his thumbs running over her cheeks again. She gripped his collar wanting this moment to end.
"I can't - Eosphoros you know I can't -"
She swallowed hard and nodded.
"I know. I know I - I would never force you to."
He forced her to look at him. He was smiling even through the tears.
"You promise me you'll be happy okay? I need you to promise me that Eosphoros."
How could she be happy when it wasn't him? How could she really be happy when she had to deny her own heart what it wanted? To watch him go, to watch him be away from her or in his home.
Eosphoros swallowed, her eyes lowered as she felt her eyes sting with the tears she couldn't let herself shed. She couldn't let herself give into this, give into her wants.
She shook her head slightly. "I can't promise something that I can't make true Rhagal, I can't promise you I will be happy when I feel as if I am tearing a part of myself out of my chest by watching you leave."
She had to let him go though, she needed to break herself away from him. He wasn't hers, he wasn't meant to be hers.

I just realized I may never have introduced Eosphoros!! After the horror that was Cassandra and Etele's reigns of terror (for Daglan, Valg and Fae). Eosphoros was a Daglan who grew up in the shadow of these horror stories. She vowed to take Etele down and take her throne, she vowed to make a kingdom where everyone would prosper.
She sought alliances and friendships with Hypaxia and Anastasiya to help bring that to fruition. The idea with all three of them no one would stand in their way (because they were allied with one of the three in some fashion).
Her idea was to find the Wyrdkeys that Seb and Nat had scattered in their war (because they were too powerful to be used) and bring Etele and her empire down.
She proposed each one of them take a throne. Dornelle, Terresan and Wendlyn would not fall again. They would be unified and bring about a new Golden Age for All.
Fun fact, her magic is formed as a whip of lava.
Warrior and Gentry versions of Etele.

Ohos hadn't snapped his hand. The lives of Luthoalon was in his fingers. He grinned at Eosphoros.
"Did you think you could hide forever? I'd thought I'd give you one last match for your bloodthirsty heart Eos. A fight between Medusa and I, my brother agrees don't you Rigel?"
Rigel hummed sitting on Medusa's desk. He glared at Medusa who had moved a few feet away. Blood under her nails and his. They both looked like they'd fought each other the mortal way - the fae way.
"What you say? A gladtorial fight for your heart. What say you Medusa?"
Medusa slowly looked to Phosphorus and spat at his feet.
"You are beneath me."
She finally met Eosphoros gaze and shrugged. She'd left for Austrus increasingly irritation at her status and abilities. She wasn't worthy of his sister and she'd left before he could kill her. Eosphoros would always choose her family and she'd always choose her freedom - she was okay with that.
She was happy with that. This was her choice.
For the longest time, she had fooled those who looked at her; the perfect one, the one who was the family's darling. Perfect in nature. That was a lie, that was until she had self-indulged in a life she wanted, a love she craved.
Her attention lingered upon Medusa, each mark and stain of blood was another bittersweet image burned into her memory. The female who knew the truth, the one who need what beat within her chest. She had been so resistant to what was, what was meant to be. She knew damn well her family would never approve, but that didn't mean she didn't crave.
Her jaw clenched, Eosphoros's gaze only broke from her when their eyes met. If they couldn't be, at least she could protect her. She wanted her freedom, so she would ensure that she got it. Her body shifted, moving to step in between Medusa and Phophorus.
