after the hug, Hak told Mundok bout him being the new Capt of Sky Tribe Imperial Guard. Mundok was still in shock with Hak's hug and it took 5 business days to realized what he said that he's part of Sky tribe now! he was like NANIIIIIIII?!!!

A character that has always intrigued me Elder Mundeok.
He is the one adult that has had a close relationship with all the three characters - Hak, Soo-won & Yona.
And while other characters more or less we have an idea of their actions, and behaviour, Mundeok is slightly baffling.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/76b2023a18916e3bab753e5195f8fbe8/329188fbff45182f-93/s640x960/1867dc019ac61872fce5863238c90c56683770e5.jpg)
We know he is Hak's grandfather. He was the former general of the Wind tribe, and notably he was a very loyal supporter of Il— But, why?
Il despised weapons, conflicts, forbid war, but incredibly his most loyal supporter raised the best warriors in the country.
Perhaps he was more tolerant of the wind tribe due to their easy going nature, not prone to aggression like the fire tribe or the earth tribe.
Wind tribe was favoured, Mun-deok was an elder. He was in the best position to advise Il on several poor decisions he made, yet he did not. I have never understood, why?
Did he advise, but Il did not listen?
Then why did he support Il despite the poor decisions that were made? Was it because it was not Fuga's problem? It does not make sense though. What was not Fuga's problem would eventually become Fuga's problem once the tribes and the people one by one started to revolt.
Then was it because of Yona being Hiryuu's incarnation?
Still, why did he never advise Il to give his daughter proper lessons as the next heir to the throne.
Did they expect her to magically earn governing prowess?
I doubt he's that dumb, but then Mundeok revered the priests. He believed in Hiryuu. Then was everything pre-planned? Il doing nothing, letting his people rot for ten years knowing Soo-won would kill him— was this all to trigger another Hiryuu reign of Il's dreams? To make Yona reunite with the dragons and regain her throne like in the legends? Is that what these two were going for?
Of course I understand, if Yona had never gone to reunite the dragons we would never have this story, but then it makes you think the characters who hardly appear seem to have made the greatest impacts aside from Yona and funnily enough all these decisions lead to tragedy.

oh shut the fuck up mundeok are you fucking stupid you know he saved the whole country and you choose to beat him down even more? after ignoring state of the country as a fucking general now instead of wanting to help suwon the only thing you can do is to be angry at him? at the person that took such a heavy role because you all were too lazy to do anything?

South Korea, US to start summer military drills next week
The US and South Korea will begin their second large-scale military exercises this year next week to address specific threats from North Korea, Korean media reported.
The military drills scheduled for August 19-29, will see US and South Korean troops practice skills including responding to the use of weapons of mass destruction. Ryan Donald, spokesperson of US Forces Korea (USFK), said:
“This exercise will reflect realistic threats across all domains such as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s missile threats and we will take in lessons learned from recent armed conflicts.”
About 19,000 South Korean troops will take part in the exercise, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The US Forces Korea Command, the command overseeing about 28,500 US troops on the peninsula, has not disclosed the number of US troops participating in the semi-annual exercise, citing operational security concerns.
Military personnel from member countries of the UN Command will also take part in the exercise, while representatives of an oversight committee of neutral nations will monitor the manoeuvres, USFK said in a statement by email on Monday.
Annual military drills provoke escalation
Ulchi Freedom Shield is the second large-scale military exercise held annually by the US and South Korea. The Freedom Shield exercise, also lasting 11 days, was held in March and consisted of 48 separate drills. The drills are named after Eulji Mundeok, a Korean general who led his troops against Chinese forces in the 7th century.
China has consistently criticised the large-scale military exercises by Washington and Seoul, calling them a rehearsal for an invasion. During last year’s Ulchi Freedom Shield exercises, North Korea said the drills could lead to an “unprecedented large-scale thermonuclear war” on the peninsula, according to an August 22 report by the state-run Korean Central News Agency.
Two days after that report, North Korea launched a spy satellite that failed to reach orbit, and six days after that it launched two short-range ballistic missiles off its east coast.

A future where soowon/mundeok dies and lily is irrelevant and yona becomes a marry sue and Hak is the king.
Then no thanks. I don't think I'll survive.
I don't want it
I'm still wishing that Yona of the dawn gets a season 2

Jang Bo-go was already a well-known figure throughout the three kingdoms of Korea, China and Japan as a hero in his own right from the time. Poet Du Mok of the Tang Dynasty left a separate record of Jang Bogo and Jeongyeon in his collection of works 《Beoncheonmunjib》, and Song Gi, one of the editors of 《Shindangseo》, also said that there were Gwak Ja-ui and Jang Bogo in the Tang Dynasty. Even compared to Kwak Ja-ja, Jang Bo-go was raised high. In addition, in the process of evaluating Kim Yu-sin in the Samguk sagi, Kim Bu-sik wrote, "Eulji Mundeok's resourcefulness and Jang Bo-go's courage are high and outstanding, but due to the lack of records, we have to rely on Chinese records, but Kim Yu-shin did not." ,# Jangbogo's biography is not in volume 9, which is a kind of 'traitor's biography', but in volume 4, which is 'the legendary biography'. In other words, Jang Bo-go was not brought up in modern times, but was already known as a very good hero from a long time ago.[47]
Moreover, it was actually the Joseon Dynasty, not the Goryeo Dynasty, that enabled Jang Bo-go to rise as a loyal subject. The Goryeo Dynasty praised Jang Bo-go as a person who led the triangular trade and a considerable boneless bone, and gave favorable reviews, such as including a series of great generals, but did not praise him as a loyal subject.[48] On the other hand, in Joseon's records of Dongguk Saryak and Dongguk Tonggam, Jang Bo-go was praised as a loyalist who suppressed the rebellion and wiped out pirates.[49] This is the decisive blow in the review of the Samguk sagi, which criticized King Shinmu as a traitor, but in the case of the Goryeo Dynasty, the problem of blood counts was bigger than the clearing. Because it was King Munseong and Miss Kim who installed the blood camp. In the case of the Joseon Dynasty, it was a country that arose from Jeonju, Jeolla-do, rather than Ganghwa, where there was bloodshed, so the existing record had to be corrected.
Ahn Jeong-bok, a scholar of Silhak and national scholar of Joseon, borrowed Choi Bo's private opinion from Dongguk Tonggam and promised in his book Dongsa Gangmok that 'there is no clear evidence that Jang Bo-go rebelled, and that 'If you help me, I will make my daughter queen'. I cleaned it up, so of course I won't get angry.' He sided with Jang Bo-go for killing him recklessly, even though he committed a crime as he was a contributor who contributed to the enthronement of King Sinmu. Yang Kim, who had helped put King Sinmu on the throne with him, did not say a word of defense when Jang Bo-go died. It was pointed out directly that it may have been behind this.[50]
Of course, so far there are more people who believe that salt is directly behind it. However, it is said that Yeomjang, a local powerful family member of the southwestern line, and his subordinates, and Kim Yang, a Gyeongju nobleman, and her nobles killed in some kind of collusion.[51] Yeomjang was to take control of Cheonghaejin, and Yang Kim was to defend Silla's unique golpum system. There is even an argument that even King Sinmu, who passed away less than a year later, may have actually been murdered by Miss Kim. However, it is highly probable that King Sinmu passed away due to boils under the circumstances, and that Yang Kim's assassination of Jang Bo-go is also highly unlikely to be related, given that she was dismissed from her post as a servant immediately after the assassination.[52]
There are those who inherited Dongguk-tonggam's perspective and highlighted Jang Bo-go and King Sinmu as the representative and final figures to represent Silla. However, there are quite a few views that see Jang Bo-go as a threat to the stability of Silla from the perspective of the Goryeo Dynasty.[53] In general, in the case of the Goryeo Dynasty, the figures of the previous dynasties were not highly evaluated to differentiate themselves from the previous dynasties, and in the case of Joseon, compared to the Goryeo Dynasty, it was possible to give a free evaluation of the dynasties before the Goryeo Dynasty, so it was evaluated that way. .[54]
The Goguryeo orthodoxists of the Hwanpa style even accused Jang Bo-go of Goguryeo descent and that he was a pro-Party faction of the Kim Chun-chu class who ruined the uprising of Isado, a descendant of Lee Jeong-gi who dominated the Shandong region (…). In fact, the director also didn't have much sense of migration, and he just rebelled because his relationship with the party's central government was broken while he was defending his own territory. In the first place, Jang Bo-go was not an officer of such a high rank at that time, so he was not the instigator of the suppression of the rebellion.

Also, it seems that Master Lee is testing Ukie Deokie's relationship by just gently probing them. Like he isn't getting in the way or just letting them be. Just feeling it if it's going to cause discord or if it will be good for both. AMD NO ONE COULD HAVE HANDLED IT WITH MORE GRACE THAN HIM
He is really well written and all of my favorite scenes with lore are with him!!

Actually, the best part is Hak does question it. Hak is sceptical. Hak is atleast sarcastic if not downright annoyed by the king's behaviour.
One of the earliest chapters in Akayona shows us a glimpse of this.
From the start, we can see a blatant disregard for King Il.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/98b9ac1d76af4fcafc5f742dd9b8b573/ba719eca09c1acb7-00/s540x810/c7d2764bf402c0db75522a98bbd1fe3032879fc5.jpg)
Hak throws the absurdity of Il's dislike of weapons right back in his face while also internally complaining the King has no sense of crisis.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2af13748fbc1039dde27f94b9c883370/ba719eca09c1acb7-1b/s540x810/ec75e8758c8473bed8b9c5686c03a19c87d015c0.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2659f7a0f94843ac057a4c3f38d9f4f1/ba719eca09c1acb7-f5/s640x960/383ba73ec1c0e6c6daba56e6493b8e669a72a60b.jpg)
Then we are confronted with the moment where we see Hak's emotions towards Yona, and we recognise he has feelings for her. Is that bad so far? No, not really.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/331e02849bb5f1bf7493d8cb16a6b72e/ba719eca09c1acb7-f1/s540x810/cdb3249a46a03af6953b085b898329ac1bee4468.jpg)
Then we get the most important piece of information. - Fire tribe is secretly hoarding weapons from other countries without Il's permission and the guards are talking about it. THE GUARDS! Servants of Hiryuu Castle!!
Just imagine how brazen the fire tribe must be if it had spread over to even the servants of Hiryuu castle. It's bloody hilarious! And no protagonist has ever had a rebellion leak so easily and put at their feet like Hak - He heard it! He recognises Il's incompetence like the others!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3a5ae5c4677db7615614727e9af20539/ba719eca09c1acb7-74/s540x810/80d659a29f4b3d1696d7461a846f0e2abd8fa922.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/291a94b69334dc6485ffd9b220d769f3/ba719eca09c1acb7-05/s540x810/a59cd643b3c3283c0a0b0206bb7c46daff3e7bb3.jpg)
When Kang Tae jin behaves inappropriately towards the princess, the servants of Hiryuu castle itself hesitate to stop him. Even Hak is not very keen on getting involved although for different reasons, but then we see he can't turn a blind eye to his feelings and in the next moment he goes - "Next general of the wind tribe blah, blah, blah...Princess' exclusive body guard yada yada yada..."
And then in the flash of an eye because of King Il's little cut he comes to a grand conclusion.
Excuse me? His standard chart for determining cowardice was a man protecting his own daughter - I tell you, if he were not the fucking king, he wouldn't be walking away with that measly little cut, he'd be lying on the floor with his guts spilled out like the many fathers in Awa who tried to prevent their girls being taken away for aristocratic amusement!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a1297716060761981c025b8ccf58670e/ba719eca09c1acb7-f6/s540x810/32dae95b1ae3b54623b0419204440c6160aa7753.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5f39b0d0249b8740a06d7ff8773f9261/ba719eca09c1acb7-98/s540x810/5426a5a4d710766450ed62dac389eb22c4639e94.jpg)
And that's the moment we see all of Hak's rationality fly out the window. The moment he stops being his own person with his own thoughts and his entire world goes around Yona.
Remember the dead kid? who was probably trying to protect his mother or his female relative or just an unrelated person.
The kid who had no status, no Hak, no dragons, now that is courage!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/64891ea92c4ca91495a48e73e2c4d7f6/ba719eca09c1acb7-00/s540x810/e0c0c195dce2e1051d3c5b5a31aacbf4836f90e3.jpg)
It's my own personal conclusion, but Elder Mundeok was kind to Il, but the reason why he probably was loyal to him was probably because Il was the father of Hiryuu's reincarnation. Makes me wonder if Soo-won had been Hiryuu's reincarnation would he have taken Yu-hon's side then?
Even King Ju nam on his death bed changed his mind about his successor - Hiryuu, Hiryuu, Hiryuu, - It's like that proverb - when immortals fight, mortals suffer.
Akatsuki no yona
Trauma dump
*proceed at your own expense, I am very harsh*
So, in my family everyone reads Akayona and then we have DISCUSSIONS, which lead to this convo
This has irked me for the longest of time. Was it just blind devotion? Or was there something else? Either way was it worth something to put the well being of people at risk? Il is unfit and incompetent enough to be a ruler. And he is being followed by some greatest people who are sensible enough but they don't oppose him at all??????? Hak and mundeok as well???? they don't question him, but actually view him as Yona's kind father? like what dude???? before he is Yona's father he is the king of the people, and he has a responsibility towards them, if he can not do it, leave it to someone who actually can...
Are their brains empty or what? In the end it was not realistic approach but devotion? In this regard soowon's statements make sense. That he has no need for gods nor the people who follow them blindly if all they do is disregard people they are SUPPOSED to be taking care of and instead sacrifice them. Like don't take the job if you can't fulfill the basic job descriptions. Its part of you job king il , you were suppose to do it.
Like is yona's father the only person who was killed? So many families were ruined because of him???? What about their fathers???? Is yona the only one feeling depressed or hopelessness after het father dies??
There were so many people who faced worse things, like human trafficking , who knows how many have been taken away???? What happened to their trauma? All she saw was her father's death? There were people who faced worse things? There is no light that was brought on these situations? Also She had Hak and then the dragons beside her. The common people suffering did not have this luxury. How can it be compared on the same level????? the only traumatizing thing that Yona went through in the series is seeing her father being killed by the person she has hots for. And she has been unable to let go. true it took her time to be mature enough to understand reasons but STILL...
IMO, Il would be accountable and answerable of his incompetency.

Alchemy of souls really stayed true to its characters original traits but still allowed a much needed character development.
Uk's "disappointed but not surprised look" when Mun-deok told him she's about to bargain his life for safety is a refreshing change to what could have been a dramatic "you betrayed me, I don't want to see you ever again" Hahaha
And then proceeded to making plans on how to ambush the enemy, no corny promises or grand gesture of promises. Just pure efficiency

Agreed she is jumping from scene to scene. it was refreshing to see her narrative in previous chapters, the recent ones are just lacking in that. I love to hear her thoughts. Idk why but she is being shown as intrusive and impulsive which I find ooc and it makes me cranky. I wished for her to show some improvement or calmness? Idk what I want something.
Now
HERE IS THE THING.
About her urging them to get out is because I think she is worried in earnest.
Her saying to mundok to keep an eye on those two is likely because of her being a witness to shisen incident in Water tribe arc. Remember when Hak wanted to kill Soowon. At least that's what I think. Is she thinking about what could Hak do to him? Or will they get in a fight because of yona?
Her going to find Yoon is because I think she maybe noticed Soowon being injured? We know by narrative that she somewhat can tell if the person is injured (like with minsoo). Or/and perhaps Hak just literally fell from above infront of her and he looks injured. So she is worried about their injuries?
Mundeok calling her vigorous???? Heheheh
Though I wished we see her character developed? A little? A little calculativeness instead of just barging in? WEIRDDDD.
I see no reaction or thoughts from her side? She has been contemplating him being king but also wants him to be the king? I wished there was something. Oh well I'm guessing maybe we will be shown her thinking by herself doing some side quests here and there. Yes she is literally doing side quests.🙄 y ? Idk I mean the story could proceed without that. Surely her presence must mean something more than just filling the panels?
Were these dialogues necessary??? I'm here thinking with my bag of chips and popcorn.
Anyways. All that matters is that she was here. Mundeok and lili's presence is quite something to me. I wonder what does that entail? Then being exposed to this information must mean they are the "INNER CIRCLE?"
We know mundeok is probably there for Hak? I'm sure he cares about SW. By the logic of parallelism , I want to think may be same is for lili. Is she here for SW? Like mundeok is an important person for Hak where does that put lili?
PERSPECTIVESSSSSS.
NARRATIVESSSSS
FORESHADOWING?????
But would that make relationship between SW and Lili rushed? Idk mannn
Okay this moment is reallly ooc for lili btw
