I try to enjoy trans Mulder headcanons and I know there’s jokes about their periods syncing up all the time. But when I get into a pensive mood I think about how Jewish men have been historically thought to be not “real” men to the point that antisemites believed they menstruated as a result of circumcision. And then I just kind of stew in the unaddressed implications of how TXF exists in an antisemitic culture and how that shapes how Mulder in particular was written.

Absolutely NO HATE if you headcanon Mulder that way. Knock yourself out and do what makes you happy. I get it and it’s a vibe I just overanalyze things. 😕

Requiem's Deleted Scene Confirms Bill Mulder Was Mulder's Father (...Again?)

Did you know the writers were stating Bill Mulder was still Mulder's father as late as the first draft of Requiem script? ...Which, in effect, erased dream CSM's Amor Fati claims?

Now, of course: this scene was deleted. BUT it was written to slot in right after CSM was kicked down the stairs (read: killed); and slotted in exactly how Mulder last saw Bill Mulder: reclined on a bed looking upward. And the wording of 'father' instead of 'dad' is important in X-Files-ese: 'father' is used broadly to determine paternity; and CC and Spotnitz and others used it whenever Mulder or another character discussed paternity worries. Because Mulder says "Father" and the script notes it's been "years"-- and the other man acknowledges this, even if it might be an alien pretending to be Bill-- this firmly places Bill (in the viewer's minds, at least) in the role of biological connection. In short, it's crystal clear canonical acknowledgment (and erases Amor Fati dream CSM's claims.)

NOW, does that mean this erases later canon? That is up for one to decide: CC doubled down on CSM's paternity (and paternity of William, so....) For me, it mucks up a few things he and the other writers used Bill Mulder to say.

I think when they get married, it's going to be just like this. Private. They will get their piece of paper, say the official vows -- maybe they will even dress up for it. There won't be many people there, if any. It's a formality, the official part. It's a nice formality, there may be a happy tear or two, a gentle kiss; it's a special day, after all.

But the real wedding, that is just them. At home. Nobody else present. They know their own vows, they have all the words in their heads, in their hearts. They go home, change back into their casual clothes and go for a walk. Enjoying the peace and quiet, the comfort of each other's company. And in a patch of sunlight, they'll stop, take each other's hands, look at each other the way they have from the very beginning, and speak their love to each other. For their ears only.

Ever since they met, they have been a unit of two. Even before they were a couple, they'd stand close together to talk, using their bodies to block out the outside world, creating a private universe contained only in the space between them. What they have to say to each other isn't meant for anyone else.

They don't need to shout their love out into the world, they don't need to promise undying loyalty and devotion where other people can hear. What they share is so intensely private, and it always has been.

It's the two of them, hands joined, looking into each other's eyes, and that is all there is. That is all they need. That is all they want. Each other. Nothing else.

Head canon: Mulder was an extra when they filmed Jaws.

Jaws was filmed in Marth’s Vineyard in 1974. They used locals to fill the smaller parts (Ben Gardner was played by a local, just like the mom who slaps Brody, the Brody kids, the partygoers on the beach, etc) so Mulder definitely would have been a kid on the beach.

one of my favorite ways to write established relationship hotch is like early x-files fox mulder—all dopey grins, teasing, and physical touch. devotion written into every line of his face. I think it can be hard to reconcile this version of hotch with the deeply serious, aggrieved version we so often see on the show, but it isn’t not canon either.

I think of the hotch we see in season one, for example—sentimental and downright silly sometimes, with his pirate hat and his barbs at his colleagues and his living room makeout sessions and let's call him sergio. emily has always been so adept at breaking through his walls that I think she would get him back to this version of himself, almost childlike in his love, carefree in a way he hasn’t been since haley brooks was the one bright spot of his adolescence—an abusive home life, boarding school, the unexpected death of a parent prematurely forcing him into the role of Man of the House, where he then stayed because it was familiar. but just because something is familiar to us doesn’t make it preferred or our only dimension.

I see hotch as having so much tender (and yes, goofy) love to give—not in spite of all of this, but because of it—and I love writing emily as the channel and recipient of that love.

Okay so i recently started doing dissections in my biology class and if you’ve ever done a dissection you know that you have to flip the left and right because you are facing the specimen, which leads me to a head canon:

Scully constantly gets her left and right confused. Not when shes autopsying, thats the only time she actually knows it, but shes terrible at giving and taking directions. She’ll look at a map and tell Mulder to turn right only to realize three miles later that they were supposed to go left. Mulder will tell her the paper she’s looking for is in the pile on her left and she only looks in the right stack 1 in 3 times
