I always thought it was sad that the Successor (note: many people have mistaken Black Junko for a beta design for Junko because of a lack of translation, but she's actually a design for a cut Ultra Despair Girls character, the Successor to Junko Enoshima aka Second-Generation Enoshima Junko, before that became what Monaca was trying to make Komaru) didn't have her own Mukuro. So I commissioned JunkoEXE to do this.

Mukuru kwa Reuben area has more than 18 schools but only two of them have almost adequately equipped libraries, Claris Nadini tells us when we visited Mukuru Library last week. This is the reality of the experience of the young people living in the community.

It is for this reason that Claris founded Badili Zone Organization two years ago which aims to ensure that all students from the slums have access to quality education and opportunities. And a year later, she requested for a building from Hope Worldwide Kenya for library use.

As a scientist whose heart is in materials science, I’m so glad to know NotPla made it in the list of winners for The Earthshot Prize 2022!

I’ve first encountered their project a few months ago, when I was doing a research on sustainability. Little did I know I’d be seeing such innovation once again; this time on a large-scale platform.

I just hope their cause will reach more people and will materialize into having more and better options than single-use plastics. 💚

(I suppose I could have made a portmanteau with Ryoko's name instead - Ryohi, Haruko (BIG NOPE), Suzunashi, Otomiya - but I still like Enoshimiya best of them. Ryohi and Suzunashi are cute. But I think Enoshimiya fits the character balance better; for all that Haruhi is Haruhi, Junko is running this ship.)

Kenyan police said that they had found more bags filled with dismembered female body parts on Saturday, the latest macabre discovery at a rubbish dump that has horrified and angered the country. Detectives have been scouring the site in the Nairobi slum of Mukuru since the mutilated corpses of at least six women were found on Friday in sacks floating in a sea of garbage. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday said that another five bags had been retrieved from the abandoned quarry, three of them containing female body parts, including severed legs and two torsos. “We want to assure the public that our investigations will be thorough and shall cover a wide range of areas, including but not limited to the possible activities of cultists and serial killings,” it said in a statement. Kenya was left reeling last year by the discovery of mass graves in a forest near the Indian Ocean coast containing the bodies of hundreds of followers of a doomsday sect, one of the world’s worst cult-related massacres. The country’s law enforcement services are also under scrutiny after dozens of people were killed during anti-government demonstrations last month, with rights groups accusing officers of using excessive force and of abducting protesters. Police on Friday had reported finding bodies of at least six women in Mukuru, while the state-funded police watchdog said nine bodies had been found, seven of them women.

Something I love about Toshiro is how fundamentally anti-violence he is. His special power is making connections. Even when he's angry, when he hates someone, when he actually plans to kill someone and use a weapon, in the end he always ends up connecting with those people. It already starts when he facilitates the conversation between the piano girl and her abusive father.

It's involuntary, he doesn't understand himself what he's doing, but he is the reason the motivation changes from burning the tree to turning the death of the father into something meaningful and giving his daughter closure.

It's especially pronounced with Ivy/Mukuru of course. Toshiro hates him for all the death and suffering he caused, especially to Yomiko, but he can't help but sympathize and even form a brotherly bond with him.

Same with the recent case of the painter. They could've just gone with the wife's wishes arrested the suspect, but Toshiro solves the case and brings everyone closure through empathy by being able to connect with the painter and by extension the people left behind.

This continuous to be Toshiro's superpower. Even in interrogations he takes a passive role and negotiates or merely listens. That's it really. He listens to people, particularly those who don't know how to communicate (anymore). In contrast, Yomiko and Kanaeno are the ones taking over the parts that require violence and hurtful action. They are the ones responsible for the fights and Toshiro is often reliant on them and their protection in many ways. They are also the ones who actually end up wielding guns.

It's a nice subversion of expectations too. Both for what roles men and women are expected to take in regards to violence and communication and also typical actions of the protagonist in a dystopian sci-fi story.

toshiro and yomiko's relationship is sooo interesting to me like they really are just "rich" person adopts poor person in order to feel better about themselves, except yomiko never really "adopts" toshiro like she does get him a job but not until after toshiro is transflorized and she realizes that he can help her find her missing friend but even this small action to toshiro (who suffered years of abuse and poverty) is viewed as salvation and as time goes on and they get closer and yomiko becomes more disillusioned with her job instead of focusing on the root of the problem (the transfloration system, austercity) she pours her energy into "protecting" toshiro instead and toshiro does the same!! he can't fight against the system because yomiko works there!!! he made friends!!! he gets to eat full meals and pay for his moms healthcare!!! to him all of this is thanks to yomiko...which is why i find these panels so interesting

like he knows in his heart that yomiko did something Unforgivable but he's still trying to convince mukuru that she's good because she was Good to him (until he realizes that this won't work and just threatens to kill him) anyways this manga is so good im going to drive into oncoming traffic

Kyoko is actually said to be pretty weak in the Danganronpa V3 bonus mode.

She says that Tenko and even Maki are stronger than her, and in another event, Mukuru/Junko points out that she's unathletic despite getting decent grades in PE.

How does that imply Kyoko is weak? The two people she noted to be stronger than her are very athletic and gone through a lot of physical and combat training, training that Kyoko has not done as aikido and assassin work are not her chosen profession.

Just because Kyoko isn't at their level doesn't mean she's at a far far worse le level, strength wise. She's likely at average, perhaps even above average to the everyday person, strength wise. She does walk around a lot outside when investigating.
