I count this as mostly 9/4, i know some people think that’s “too long” to write as a single bar, but wHAT ever that is how i best feel this. mostly grouped in chunks of 3+3+3 (and the argument that this should just be written as 3-bar phrased 3/4 or 6/8 certainly holds, i just feel it’s best felt without separating it into 3s).

The few “not 9/4″ bits are:

right before :37/1:11/1:25 it’s 3+3+2 two bars of 4/4.

1:25 - 1:44 is all 6/4 or 12/8 or however you’d like to count that, and the track loops immediately after!

some really interesting polyrhythms in the drums that come in around :37, unless i’m miscounting that’s 24 beats stretched to the space of each 9/4 bar, but accents don’t quite happen in a way that makes the polyrhythm feel as simple as 3:2. Very subtle and I didn’t even notice it until listening to this to type us this post haha.

Kimihiro Abe’s one of my favorite composers of all time which only adds to how much I love basiscape’s various iterations as a sound team over the years!!!!!!!
