8 & 19, spotify asks!!!!!!!!!!!!
8. longest song
this is where the Spotify injustice and AI fuckery comes into play bc if they had done their job properly it would be a NFAK performance sitting in this spot. like idk the half an hour long version of Sanson Ki Mala or the twenty-seven minute Kehna Ghalat Ghalat or the sixteen and a half glorious minutes of Tumse Dillagi Bhool. since they fucked up the next longest is this one, TĂĄim SĂnte ar do Thuama. if you've ever heard I Am Stretched on Your Grave (either the SinĂ©ad O'Conner [God's mercy be upon her, rip] or Kate Rusby versions) then this is the version taken directly from the original Gaelige poem, entirely orchestral. upside is that you can listen for hours and not get tired. downside is that once you know the lyrics when you zone out and come back in you are instantly prone to fits of emotional distress and full on breakdowns. (on that note maybe i should have put this one as the saddest song when i was asked, alas)
19. is the most streamed song by your favorite artist your favorite of them?
going to scandalize some of you but no. despite what the data might be telling you about the time we spent together FAYH is not my favorite. it is my third favorite, however, bc A Thousand Years/Desert Rose come in to tie for second. what's actually on top is Mad About You off of The Soul Cages, which by extension means the entire fucking album is probably the one thing from him i'd take to a remote and uninhabited island if forced. (don't force me. pls.) think it was the first Sting song i ever added to a playlist (or maybe it was the second. DR's been hanging around in my library since i joined Spotify i need to check) and i have not been normal since. heard the ancient songs of sadness but every step i thought of you every footstep only you no victories in all our histories without love you're fucking up my life and i'm letting you etc etc this is what happens when you let an English teacher decide to write about David and Bathsheba on an album about grief over his father's death. you get this
(send me a number from this Spotify Wrapped ask game!)
#inbox#q: anon#muireann nic amhlaoibh#sting#my fav trivia about TSC is that David Sancious (one of the founding members of the E Street Band) played keyboard for the album#which is part of why it has me in such a chokehold i fear. he's also toured with Sting multiple times but i need him to do it again#for pls bring it back just once. pls ik he's friends with practically everybody God can we make something work#spotify wrapped

These are not scientifically categorized or anything, I was just going through my playlists more or less randomly and that's sort of the order I put things in. There are songs from many genres, hopefully you'll find something you like.
(I tried to only include one song per artist, but I think there are a few that I accidentally added more than once because they make music in multiple languages. I did my best.)

Scarabia Character Songs and Associations
Our fourth dorm, Scarabia, contains two musically-oriented students. They both have hobbies and interests that directly are influenced by music in some form or another, so what sorts of songs may fit these two characters' inner worlds, and outer selves?
Notes: Every song is from my liked songs playlist (so feel free to judge me for my taste, haha!) and I only allowed myself to use an artist once for this project. There is also some strong language and mature themes in some of the songs, so be aware if you choose to listen to them. Iâve included: -Â A song that represents them - A song theyâd listen to - and (for some) an additional song, depending on the character and circumstance
The full Spotify playlist for ALL songs and characters is linked at the end of the post.
Heartslabyul | Savanaclaw | Octavinelle | Pomefiore | Ignihyde | Diasomnia
Kalim Al-Asim
Represented by: Top of the World - Carpenters
Kalim is first and foremost an optimist. He's incredibly positive, and absolutely a people person. If others are happy, he is happy! This is especially true if it's a person he cares for deeply. This song reflects that exact sort of mindset that he holds!
Listens to: RĂleanna / Reels: Ormond Sound, The Torn Jacket - Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh
Pretty much any music that is good for dancing is something Kalim would like listening to. ESPECIALLY upbeat, pleasant music that can be used for dancing in groups! Since the songs I'm using here are all from my liked songs playlist, I thought that these reels would be most suited to his music taste :)
Bonus - Suggests for Music Club: Birdhouse in Your Soul - They Might Be Giants
This is an incredibly upbeat, happy song - just the type that Kalim would be drawn to. It has uplifting, somewhat silly lyrics, and an overall good energy. It also has a fairly prominent drum line, which Kalim would find fun as the main percussionist in the club!
Jamil Viper
Represented by: All Eyes On Me - OR3O
While this mostly is similar to his character in Chapter 4 and beyond (Ch. 4 spoilers ahead), this song reflects Jamil's desire to have the freedom to show who he is, his abilities, and his potential as his own person. Plus, Jamil is remarkably powerful, and his Signature Spell/Unique Magic is made possible through eye contact, so lines like, "Focus on me / I'll be all that they see" fit pretty well in that regard, too!
Listens to: Brain Stew - Green Day
Jamil seems like he would listen to fairly heavy music, including rock, punk, and maybe melodic metal. Here, he would relate to the feeling of pure exhaustion conveyed in Brain Stew. He would also like other Green Day songs, primarily those with a slower tempo (like 21 Guns), or a complex storyline and songwriting (like Jesus of Suburbia).
Bonus - Dances to: Alors on danse - Stromae
Though there are other songs with much more prominent breaks / drops, Jamil could (and would!) definitely be able to dance to some Stromae! Stromae's music is basically made for dancing, so Jamil and his dancer's soul would really resonate with the energy of it. And he'd probably also enjoy the somewhat cynical lyrics of Alors on danse especially.
#twst#twisted wonderland#twst character songs#Scarabia#krenenbaker's :)#I guess there are a couple additional songs for Jamil here too hey?#I also almost chose a different song to represent him... very nearly#I still think that my other pick - ''Brutus'' by The Buttress - fits well but I do think that ''All Eyes On Me'' is a good choice for him#also just imagine Rook finding Jamil dancing to some Stromae - Rook would be THRILLED but Jamil would hate the additional attention :)#on the other hand... Kalim is simply a little ray of sunshine#such a cutie#who deserves a great deal of affection#both of these boys do#âĄ#Spotify

RĂłisĂn Dubh - Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and the Irish Chamber Orchestra
RĂłisĂn Dubh (Irish: [ËÉŸË oËÊiËnÊČ ËdÌȘË Êw]; "Dark Rosaleen" or "Little Dark Rose"), written in the 16th century, is one of Ireland's most famous political songs. Itâs a love song... for Ireland! This version is performed for the project "RĂłisĂn ReImagined."

I really want someone with a VERY Irish name (though they'd probably go by an anglicised pseudonym) to become famous internationally to watch all the hosts and presenters struggle.
Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson were difficult? I want to see them attempt a name like Blåthnaid Nà Chofaigh, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, Sibéal Nà Chasaide, or Eoghan à Ceannabhåin

Ethan Sellers of Logical Fleadh emailed: "Hey Marc -
Just wanted to send a belated thank - you for the Motherâs Day spin. Such a nice thing to highlight the women in Celtic music. The strong presence of women  -  especially instrumentalists  -  in traditional music is one of the things I really appreciate about the field. Cheers,"
Ann Peck McBride emailed: "I first heard the podcast about 13 years ago! And it's taken me all this time to become a Patreon member. Sorry, Marc!
I'm embarrassed to say I listen to your podcast while I'm doing housework. (It's a treat I give myself so that I'll actually do the housework) I am always surprised at the wonderful new Celtic artists you play.
I first listened to you because I needed to hear all the Celtic music I could. I listen now, partly for that reason, and partly because for the last few years, I have co - hosted a Celtic Music Hour program in Salem Oregon, on KMUZ. As my friend (and I think yours) Steve Behrens said, "We've fallen down the rabbit hole of Celtic music!" And here in the Pacific Northwest, we have a LOT of Celtic musicians... Thanks"
Debra Roche emailed a photo: "Hello, Mark, I recently played your St Patrick's Day 2023 podcast from SiriusXM and loved it!
Many years ago (1985 - 1991)I had opened The Celtic Cottage & Roche's of Ireland in Davenport, & Bettendorf, IA which brought me to do an Irish show at St Ambrose University for their college radio show.
How much fun that time in my life was! Whenever you give back to your community it is just the best when your family roots are connected! As my father's parents where from County Limerick Ireland. Glin & New Castle West.
Hope you're well and thank you for your music podcast!â
Melissa Helman emailed a photo of her dirty dishes: "So exciting, I know. Keep up the great work with the podcast."
Christopher Patrick of Salem, MA emailed a couple photos: "Hello Mark!
I canât tell you how happy I am to have discovered the âIrish & Celtic Music Podcast!â But Iâm gonna try, all the same!
You see, in my childhood, my 5 siblings and I would get loaded up into our family station wagon every Saturday morning by our mother. She would then proceed to drive us all into Boston for our weekly Irish Step Dancing lessons. Our rides both in and back were spent listening to Bostonâs AMâs radio show, âThe Irish Hour,' and later, âThe Irish Hit Parade,â (still on the air to this day!)
So, those jigs and reels were ingrained in us in our step dancing, and the other traditional music was from our rides there and home. My mother soon landed us an agent, and we, the six kids, danced all around the Greater Boston area.
So, it is no real big surprise that these days, I play in an Irish Music Band with my family. Comprised of myself, my brother, two sisters, and brother - in - law, we perform under the name of âFitzBlarney,â based in Salem, Massachusetts.
Iâve attached a couplaâ photos for you, too  -  one of the six of us in our 1970s step - dancing attire, and one from this past St. Patrickâs Day, where FitzBlarney played out at The Witches Brew pub in Salem.
The music you play means a lot to me, so, I recently became a patron. Just out of appreciation! Thanks again, and âSlĂĄinte!â
P.S. I would love to one day get on your podcast! Thatâd be so cool!"
