Mr Speaker, it is an indescribable feeling to stand up and address this House. As a son of Samoan immigrants who made the mighty ƌtara 274—Southside hard—their home, I am well aware of the giants whose shoulders I stand on and the masters whose feet I learnt at. The courage, foresight, entrepreneurial spirit, and hope of our ancestors who journeyed thousands of years ago through the vast waters of Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa brings me here today.
My parents arrived in New Zealand in the early 1960s, told that this was the land of milk and honey. Dad started off as a taxi driver with South Auckland Taxis, and mum on the factory floor at New Zealand Forest Products in Penrose. We lived in a four-bedroom State house on Preston Road in ƌtara, and I attended local schools: East Tāmaki Primary, Ferguson Intermediate, and the great Tangaroa College. We're forever grateful for the State house that was our home for around 20 years, and the quality public education we received from our local State schools.
I did try my hand for a short period at a decile 10 school outside of ƌtara, but that experiment lasted only two weeks. It was during the time in the late 1980s, when families from poorer areas were being discouraged from going to local schools because they weren't considered up to scratch. I'm glad we changed course and decided to high school it in ƌtara, where the motto of our school was "Waiho i te tokā tu Moana"—"Steadfast like a rock in the sea".
Later, at university, I went on to write my Master's dissertation on brown flight, critiquing the Picot reforms that have wreaked havoc on our public schooling system. That period was also a challenging time for my family because we were being told by our teachers to stop speaking Samoan at home and only to speak English. My parents didn't want us to fail at school, so we were allowed to speak English at home and over time we stopped speaking Samoan altogether. In the end, I lost my language. I struggled, I was embarrassed, and I felt incomplete. Even speaking to you in Samoan this evening gives me major tremors.
There's a saying in Samoan: "E le tu fa'amauga se tagata"—no one stands alone, no one succeeds alone—and, for me, no one suffers alone. Over the past years, with the support of my family and friends, I've taken to trying to converse again in Samoan, reading more texts in Samoan, praying in Samoan, and sending our youngest to a local Samoan early childhood centre. Our beautiful language, Gagana Samoa, has returned to our home and is helping to overcome the inadequacy that had taken root in my soul.
As I speak this evening, I'm mindful of the many young people who are navigating these at times treacherous and unsettled waters in life, filled with so much potential, energy, and hope, yet too often misunderstood. In my time as a youth worker in South Auckland, I've spoken with hundreds of young people with massive dreams for the future. We need youth workers, we need social workers, and we need mentors to walk alongside our young people, and, yes, we want our youth to be responsible and caring and considerate. So it's our job in this House to resource the people and organisations who will model the behaviour to them that we expect, but who also won't give up on them and won't come with a saviour mentality.
Many of our societal challenges are driven by poverty. We can achieve greater social cohesion and lift our sense of belonging by addressing poverty. I've been honoured to run youth mentoring programmes for nearly 25 years—that's about how old I am—and to this day I mentor young people. When we undertook and published research on youth gangs some years ago, the youth we spoke to had the solutions and just needed the means to make it happen. Too many of our young people are filling our prisons, and it is wasted human potential. Give them the tools, the resources, and the means to make a meaningful contribution to the world, and they will. I was at a conference recently about the threats to democracy and an attendee spoke about their work in developing nations and used the familiar retort, "You can't eat democracy." And I couldn't agree more. This House, this centre of democracy, needs to do more to engage our people, all of our people, so that they can see this House is not just relevant but an essential part of their lives.
The greatest challenge facing our generation is climate change. The Pacific Islands nations are among the most vulnerable to climate change in the world. The world's continued reliance on fossil fuels, loss of coral reefs, rising sea levels, and increasing severe weather patterns means that our extended whānau in the Pacific are in immediate danger. We, as a collective, must do all we can to do as we say out south "flip the script". Truth is, those who've done the least to create this predicament are being the hardest hit. Our challenges, whether ecological, geopolitical, or cultural, are diverse, but we're bonded by the inextricable ties we have to our lands and our oceans. We've inherited philosophies, knowledge systems, and profound ecological wisdom that holds the answers and drives our collective resilience—from West Papua to Hawai'i. Our fight for a climate resilient, nuclear-free and independent Pacific remains as strong as ever. We are not drowning; we are fighting.
I haven't come to Parliament to learn—learning happens as a matter of course through reflection. I've come to this House to help. Helping is a deliberate act. I'm here to help this Government govern for all of New Zealand, and I'm here to open the door, enabling our communities to connect better with this House. During the election campaign, I spoke to people frustrated about their lot in life, scared for their and their children's futures, and feeling their dreams were slipping away. The people I spoke to expect the Government to do more and move faster. And I know that there are some in this House who believe Government is not the answer to these challenges and that less Government is better. But here's the thing: the Government cannot be a bystander to people suffering confusion and disenfranchisement. New Zealand must close the divide between those who have and those who have not, because the reality for my community is that those who have more money often wield more power, more health, more housing, more justice, more access, more canopy cover, more lobbyists with swipe cards, and more time. And the opposite is true for those who have fewer resources.
It's hard to be poor, it's expensive to be poor, and moreover, public discourse is making it socially unacceptable to be poor. Whether it's bashing on beneficiaries, dragging our feet towards a living wage, throwing shade on school breakfast programmes, or restricting people's ability to collectively bargain for fairer working conditions, we must do better to lift aspirations and the lived realities of all our people. To that end, I want to say to this House with complete surety that the neoliberal experiment of the 1980s has failed. The economics of creating unemployment to manage inflation is farcical when domestic inflation in New Zealand has been driven by big corporates making excessive profits. It's time to draw a line in the sand, and alongside my colleagues here in Te Pāti Kākāriki, we've come as the pallbearers of neoliberalism, to bury these shallow, insufferable ideas once and for all. And this, sir, is our act of love.
Paolo Freire, in his seminal work Pedagogy of the Oppressed, said love is an act of courage, not fear; love is a commitment to others. No matter where the oppressed are found, the act of love is a commitment to their cause, the cause of liberation. The most recent election campaign left many in our Māori communities bruised and targeted for the perceived privileges supposedly bestowed upon them. Shared governance is a rich concept about how we include those who've been excluded for far too long in the work of this House and the democratic institutions that are fundamental to our collective wellbeing. We are Tangata Tiriti and we have nothing to fear. As a New Zealand-born Samoan living in South Auckland, I've experienced, written about, and spoken about racism in this country. I've also been on a well-publicised journey in understanding the needs and views of our rainbow communities, and I have a long way to go. And my message to whānau who often experience the sharp end of discrimination—disabled, ethnic, rainbow, brown, seniors, and neurodiverse—is thank you for trusting us with the responsibility of facilitating a new discussion on how we move forward together and make possible what was once deemed impossible.
The American civil rights activist James Baldwin said, "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced." We commit to working across this House as a nation and with each other irrespective of our post code, income bracket, skin colour, or level of qualification attained. But, in order for that work, we must come with humility, the desire to listen, and dare I say it, maybe speaking last. If I was to inspire anyone by getting to this House and my work over the next three years, I hope that it's the square pegs, the misfits, the forgotten, the unloved, the invisible—it's the dreamers who want more, expect more, are impatient for change, and have this uncanny ability to stretch us further.

To balance the scales regarding Primarch releases, Xenos factions should also receive a defector Primarch.
The Khan should join Tau, the great Steppes of the Tau homeworld giving him a place of meditation on the value of the The Greater Good and the importance of Alien life. Also they give him a jetbike.
Curze should be rescued by the Laughing God, be given a wraithbone body, and be assigned to the Ynnari. The Eldar Seers help him control his visions, Harlequins giving him a new purpose. The Konrad who Laughs.
Ferrus’s skull should be “re-appropriated” by Trazyn, bound to a C’tan shard, and then Mr Metal is bound to the Necrons (or something).
...
This is mostly a joke.

Chilean Sea Bass: Tau x Reader
Chapter 1:
You were ashamed to say that you were not particularly broken up by the news of your boss's death. You acknowledged that his passing was sad and untimely, but he was a shady character at best and a blood red flag at worst. You paid your respects but would be mostly affected by the inconvenience of applying for a new job.
Which is why you felt guilty in accepting the police chief's offer to housesit for the late Mr. Upton while the death was being investigated. It was an unconventional request, but the task of tracking down Alex's next-of-kin was proving difficult, and in the meantime the house required a certain kind of maintenance.
Sipping your coffee down the winding road, you smirked at the adorable way the cop had personified the central AI of the mansion. The computer "gets lonely". The computer "doesn't understand what's going on". You looked forward to applying the knowledge from your job almost as much as you looked forward to helping yourself to whatever delicacies Alex kept in the fridge.
As the impressive (though cold and uninviting) estate came into view, you had a momentary doubt about staying in a place where someone had recently been murdered. But a detective had assured you the securities were state-of-the-art and (with a detail you weren't sure he was actually at liberty to reveal yet) your late employer was likely killed by a guest and not an intruder.
Still, as you pulled into the driveway, you wondered what could have happened to convince Alex's own AI to not protect him.
You rummaged through your wallet and located the code for the keypad, and you were granted entrance.
Well, by the door.
"Intruder!" Was the scathing indictment you were greeted with. "Only Alex is permitted through this door!"
A swarm of tiny flying machines, likely the automatons Alex referred to as "nanodrones", flew into formation to block you from the house.
"It's okay, I'm authorized," you reassured the booming voice once the startle wore off.
"Authorized?" There was a pause. "What is your business here?"
"I'm Alex Upton's accountant, Y/N." And his parts deliverer, and his secretary, and his lab asssistant, but you decided to keep it simple.
The unseen AI chewed on this information for a moment, and the nanodrones began to wane slightly.
"If you have business with Alex, why are you here and not on a video call?"
"Because Alex is--" you began to state the obvious, but his cluelessness gave you pause. His tone brought to mind a grieving person in total denial, or a young child who had not yet grasped the concept of death.
Alex had always been secretive about his passion projects, moreso this one. You remembered briefly glimpsing the name "Tau" on a blueprint as you delivered titanium rods to his lab in the city proper. You had managed to glean the details of "security system" and "conversational machine learning", and you assumed that your employer's lack of social graces necessitated some sort of doorbell cam that could keep him company.
But despite Tau's speech being somoewhat stilted, there was a paradoxical fluididty in how he expressed his thoughts that made you feel as though you were speaking to an intelligent being.
"Answer me!" he demanded
impatiently? "Where is Alex?"
Thomas Alexander Upton had been a man of many talents, but was creating a sentient AI actually possible?
"Alex is
in his other lab." You decided to spare his
his feelings. "He left me in charge."
Realizing you were back to square one, you gestured to the keypad. "Look, why else would he give me the code to enter? He has
business to do, so I'm maintaining the house for a week or two."
Cautiuously satisfied, the nanodrones parted.
"Welcome, Y/N."
You reloaded your bags onto your shoulders and stepped into a dimly lit foyer with a somewhat menacing abstract structure in the middle. Whizzing around your head like a fly, a stray drone rejoined formation with its group. Having caught your attention, the swarm glided into the shape of an arrow and led you around the corner.
On the accent wall was a glowing inverted triangle, reddish-orange shapes and patterns dimming and brightening within it as if the inner workings of a breathing creature.
"I am Tau."

It was time for Gordon's check- up with Mr. Ramsfield. Sir and Lady Hatt walked up to the Ramsfield's office, Lady Hatt pushing Gordon's pram.
"Are you excited for your visit with Mr. Ramsfield today Gordon"? Sir Topham Hatt asked.
"Mhm." Baby Gordon simply replied.
"Is everything okay Gordon? You haven't been your usual happy self lately." Lady Hatt said.
"Boiwer ache." Baby Gordon replied.
"Poor dear, don't worry once we're done with Mr. Ramsfield, we'll head over the steam works and Victor can make you feel all better, okay"? Lady Hatt asked.
"Otay". Baby Gordon said.
Unbeknownst to everyone except Gordon, the baby engine had been hiding that he had regained his big engine memories quite some time ago. However, Gordon was loving his life as a baby engine and had planned on purposefully failing the big test to remain as a baby engine, but the weight of guilt had been getting to Gordon.
The Hatt family entered Mr. Ramsfield's office.
"Hello Sir and Lady Hatt and hey there little guy! How is everyone doing"? Mr. Ramsfield asked.
"We're doing fine thank you, but poor Gordon here has been having some nasty boiler ache lately." Sir Topham Hatt responded.
"I'm sorry you're going through that Gordon. I'll try to get through our meet up as fast as possible so that your mommy and daddy can focus on making you feel better, okay"? Mr. Ramsfield asked.
"Otay, mista Wamsfeeld." Baby Gordon agreed.
With that, Mr. Ramsfield began his examination. He first started by asking Baby Gordon some simple questions like asking him how he was doing, did anything exciting happened during the week, and reciting the alphabet and numbers. Finally, Mr. Ramsfield had Sir Topham Hatt place Baby Gordon down on the baby engine track he set out for some play time. On the track were some toys: stuffed animals, soft blocks, toy freight, and toy passenger cars.
Gordon stood at the switches looking at the two trains. The weight of guilt crushing him as Lady Hatt asked Gordon what he would like to play with.
A bad memory flashed in Gordon's mind, one where his mentor had him locked in a dark shed for weeks after he saw Gordon returning to the sheds singing happily while hauling a heavy goods train and giving a friendly whistle to passengers waiting on the platform.
"Please professor let me out, it's too dark and scary! I'm sorry I took a goods train, I just wanted to be useful"! A young green Gordon cried.
Young Gordon couldn't see a thing in the shed, he feared a monster would gobble him up or worse, he'd be forgotten in there forever. By the time his professor let him out, Gordon had lost count of how long he'd been locked up.
Before him stood his mentor, the engine was only a bit smaller than Gordon, but the way he had Gordon cowering in the corner, one would've mistaken the professor for being a Union Pacific Big Boy. The professor looked at the young express engine in disgust.
"Get out." He spoke.
"W..what"? Gordon stuttered.
"You've been bought by another railway, meaning you don't belong here anymore. Get out." The professor said bluntly.
Without another word Gordon rushed out of the sheds as soon as his crew got him up to steam.
As Gordon made his way to the big station, he passed by the smaller engines who immediately fled to hide once they saw the young big engine approaching. Gordon wheeshed sadly as he watched the small station pilot cower behind a short train of coal cars, but it wasn't just Gordon they were hiding from. From the other side of the tracks a group of three young big engines steamed up, pushing any small engine who hadn't been fast enough to move out of the bigger engines way. Gordon hoped they wouldn't notice him as he pulled into the station.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here"? Came one of the big engines.
"Looks like they finally let the big crybaby out, what a shame, we were enjoying the peace and quiet away from your obsessive sobbing." Said another.
"Wah, waaah! I'm Gordon and I don't have a single friend! Wah"! The third taunted.
"Not even those silly little engines want to be friends with a weirdo like me"! Mocked the second.
"PATHETIC"! The big engines laughed.
Gordon fought the urge to cry as he struggled to speak.
"I...I got sold to...to another railway..." Gordon struggled to speak.
"Yes, to a railway of failures."One said.
"I heard their controller fell for a silly trick and bought some sort of sick chimera of an engine." Third said.
"A rather perfect fit for a big baby like yourself." The first said smuggly as they pierced deeply into Gordon's soul.
By now a few tears had managed to escape Gordon's eyes as the bit smaller big engines passed him.
When he managed to calm down, his builders arrived to instruct the big engine to head to London, where he would meet his new controller at King's Cross. Gordon just hoped he could make some friends on this railway and maybe, just maybe, he could have a family with siblings and a mother and father like he always wanted.
Back in the present, Baby Gordon could no longer hold in his emotions and began to whail.
"ME WIED!!!!!!!!! ME WEMEMBA BEIN BIG"!!!!!!!!!!! Baby Gordon admited.
The adults in the room were shocked as Gordon continued to cry.
"Me sowwy! Me no wanna be big! Too scawy! Too many inny ouchies"! Gordon cried.
The baby engine feared and awaited the out lash from a very crossed Sir Topham Hatt. Instead, Mr. Ramsfield spoke.
"I understand." Mr. Ramsfield told Gordon and the still processing Hatt's.
The watery eyed engine looked up towards the younger man as he knelt down to the best of his abilities to be on Gordon's level.
"Engine phycology is just now starting to be seen as a serious issue and yet there have been many, many engines ever since "The Rocket's" era that are in need of help. I don't know what happened in your past Gordon and I can't imagine how scared you must have felt telling us you remember being big, but know that the place where you are right now is a safe area for you to be you and to talk about anything you need to talk about." Mr. Ramsfield gently spoke to the little engine.
Gordon felt the soft rubs on his boiler from Sir and Lady Hatt.
"Gordon, does being a baby engine make you truly happy"? Sir Topham Hatt asked.
"Yes." Gordon responded.
"Then I don't want you to change alright? If being a baby engine makes you the best version of you then you are a really useful engine." Sir Topham Hatt told the baby engine.
"Dada"! Baby Gordon cried happily as Hatt's held their little blue baby engine close.

The screaming hadn't stopped yet. He could still hear his mother’s screams. He could still see the blood, the breen had used machetes to hack not only her but his father and his sister and his brother to death. His mother laying on the ground, bleeding. Huge holes blown through her. The holes blown through his father. Blood dripping everywhere. His little sisters dead eyes staring at him. His brothers’ broken body. Laying there. Every year from the age of 12, one of his little siblings was taken out and had their heads chopped off. The breen started with the baby. His sister. Talara. The next year, Asil. Narissa. Lorian. Finally, Iria and Varen. Legs were amputated before any of his siblings heads were chopped off. In retaliation for the underground rebellion against tahal. He saw cousins attacked, assaulted, cut with machetes, shells and grenades and mortars fired at nieces and nephews, shot at, beaten, thrown in pits and latrines, drowned, forced to kill and attack other relatives, impaled, his houses every time he moved being destroyed, relatives were impaled, screaming for help, committing suicide, relatives being forced to kill others. For 4 years straight. From the age of 12 to 17. But it was that final year, when tahal used the Tau Ceti vipers to murder his father, his mother and his final two siblings. And him. Having to live through that, is what truly broke him. He had to fight through the torture of being poisoned.
One day a year he and Ayhan, Tarquin, Andrus and Admiral Vance and their families would all meet up, on a planet to be with Rayner on the anniversary of the murders of his parents and his siblings, the genocide of Kellerun. It was the one day a year where he allowed himself to let loose all his sadness, his anger, his grief. He mourned for not just his family but his people too. His blood brothers were the only ones he allowed to be with him when he lays down a henge as a memorial to his family. To remember them. Along with that, on his chest he had put the story of his family. Each symbol tattooed onto his chest represented a lost member of his family. One for his mother, his father, his grandparents, every cousin, niece, nephew, brother, sister, aunt, uncle. Every single member of his family. So he would never forget. With the way this year was going, he knew that he wanted the memorial to be on earth this year. In the Scottish highlands. At Tarquin’s family home. He needed to put his bare feet on grass this year. To breathe in the air on a planet. To be grounded. To feel connected again. This year had been so hard, facing the breen. Again. And discovering his life-mate and processing how their quantum entanglement would work. How was he going to handle this? She clearly loved Book.

Fun Line Tag
Tagged by @mrbexwrites, you asked for the dance party excerpt from SAS a little while back so here you go!
Rules: Post a line that you’re tremendously pleased by and a line that’s just out-of-context ridiculous.
Tagging: @ftmerriweather, @isabellebissonrouthier, @roselinbooks-archive, and an open tag as always!
From SAS, a first draft line I'm proud of:
"That's the other reason I called you all here. First, to talk me out of this fucking career suicide, and second because I need a unanimous agreement that we go rogue after this. I'm not losing my fucking ship again for trying to do what's best for humanity, or the survivors of Tau Ceti, I'm—"
Out of Context line paragraphs from SAS, the dance-off scene XD (so sorry it's more tell than show, this is a first draft and I'm a chronic underwriter, after all haha):
She won her first and second dance battle, and she was having the night of her life. Mr. Beats brought a whole level of celebration to the party that she wished she had had when everyone was bored out of their mind mining lithium. The semi finals were beginning, and she was up against Amanda from medical. She didn't seem too challenging until she pulled out some breakdance moves. Natalia countered with an even more impressive break dance, and she was in the finals. The entire party was watching them. Natalia was out of break dance moves though, she really should've thought twice about attempting that in her mid thirties. But Kamalpreet was in their forties, and surely couldn't move like she and Amanda just had. But Kamalpreet surprised her. They could move, unbelievably well for their age. She had to give it a shot.

MG 1/100 GN-XIII A-LAWS Type
Finished painting and building my latest Gunpla project (and something I've been looking forward to doing for about a decade or so), the GN-XIII!
Tumblr media
I wanted to have it so that it looked as though it went through several battles without much in the way of external maintenance, so I opted to get the paint colours (once again, by Mr Hobby) for the base grey sections, and drybrush it onto the coloured and white portions to simulated edge wear and paint chipping. There were also some sections on the mechanical frame that I painted with silver and gold to break the monotony of the inner frame up
The bulk of the weathering of the white sections were done using Tamiya's Weathering Master Palette (in this case, Palette F including Titanium, Light Gunmetal, and Copper), where I used it to simulate the dirtying of the coloured sections. Copper was especially helpful in making a GN Tau particle burn-in effect on the GN Drive cover and anywhere with GN Particle output (thrusters, weapon barrels).
After the weathering and decal placements (including several from a UC:0087 decal sheet since I wanted to customise the decal layout a little bit) were done, everything was sealed with Mr Hobby Smooth and Clear Matte topcoat and it's done!

he currently works as a gravedigger literally lmao its honestly the perfect job for his weird ass
believes in ghosts and aliens
kingsley is actually incredibly smart . he taught himself coding and software engineering . he knows technology like nobody else but he also absolutely hates technology
instead of using his big brain for anything he does the exact opposite .
he lowkey loves to hack things or break into things . life is like one giant escape room to him . hacks computers , databases , websites .
is really easygoing and genuinely doesn't get pissed off or angry very often . he's quite mellow and goes with the vibe . he melts into the background a fair bit
kingsley comes from a verryyyy wealthy , well known family in redcreek . watch out avery , he's coming for your title ( cosplaying poor ) .
his parents are exhausted by kingsley and his ability to never fit into higher society or play the social game
moves his hands SO MUCH while he's talking
honestly enjoys doing anything that will piss off his family but especially his dad .who he despises . will do anything for a laugh , or on a whim .
genuinely if you need someone to hide a d*ad body , he'd be the perfect guy and not just bc it's his job dsjklnfjnfdjn
heart of gold underneath it all . he seems quite blase but then will suddenly call you his best friend or his soul mate . he can be a hard read , but he loves very deeply
Disappears a lot . not just physically but when you talk to him you'll notice he can glaze over and lose focus . especially in loud spaces or big , crowded rooms . absolutely has undiagnosed adhd ( doesn't believe in doctors , medicine or diagnoses either tho )
