I can't believe the time is here… 6th September 2024 officially marks my final day working in Finland.

I've been working on cartoons fully remote at home in Malaysia for years, but I've never imagined that I have the opportunity to finally work in an animation studio in person, filled with such inviting, creative and fun atmosphere and people!

I've definitely learned a lot, not only as an animator and a person but also SO much about interesting different stories and cultures from folks all across the world working in Gigglebug over the year. I really couldn't ask for a better first studio in-house experience. It truly has been the craziest and greatest experience in my entire animation career, and I will never forget that!

A sincere thank you to everyone for being such great colleagues and friends to me during my time there, and also thank you Gigglebug for being the studio with the unique human touch towards its employees. Super grateful and honored to receive so many unexpected supports and compliments during my "sad cake day" too that I literally broke down crying haha.

Hopefully this is not a goodbye, but see you all again soon!

First time trying traditional embroideries from Finland! These are embroideries made on "tykkimyssy", which are French caps used in traditional finnish costumes. They are frequently made of paper covered with silk, finished with a bow (but not always). They can be plain but are often embroidered with floral patterns made with only chain stitches. Their styles and colors depend on every woman, town and region. I gave it a go and chose to make a whole embroidered collar inspired by Howl's Moving Castle, especially Howl's bedroom. It was very long to make but I'm really happy with the result.
