Now that I’m a little more established I’m going to ask this again. Don’t these sound similar? Look me in the eyes and tell me I’m wrong
They’re both really good and fitting mind you. 2 for 2 of sappy song that lures you into a false sense of security before the movie rips your heart out.

It has been a hot minute since I posted anything...
But I just had a life-changing revelation that I need to share with the class (y'all).
So if you have seen my posts before, you will know that I recently (ish) watched the Top Gun movies for the first time. Well today, 10 minutes ago, I Ain't Worried (the song from the TGM beach scene) came up on my Spotify and I had the brilliant idea of listening to the TGM soundtrack (which is something I do a lot with movies that I like).
WELL, I already found it crazy enough that Lady Gaga herself worked on the music for a "totally straight" military action movie. And you know, Hans Zimmer has composed everything (and I mean everything, look him up). But I was unfamiliar with the other two names on the list Harold Faltermeyer and Lorne Balfe.
WELL, Lorne has a pretty simple background, he worked under Hans Zimmer, and he's composed for some pretty cool movies. Average Hollywood composer stuff.
BUT HAROLD FALTERMEYER WROTE G*D D*AMNED AXEL F!!!!! You know, the Crazy Frog song!?!?!?! Like, who sat down and said "Hmmm we're making a movie about pilots? We obviously need Zimmer, and he likes to bring Balfe along. Lady Gaga should be fun, she's young and cool. Oh and what about the man who wrote F*UCKING AXEL F!!!!!!!!!!!"
TL;DR The music team for Top Gun: Maverick is insane and I don't know how to handle this information.

I had never considered that I'd actually seen Rise of the Guardians all that much. I mean, especially not to the level of which I've seen HTTYD.
But earlier I was looking through the RotG soundtrack, and while reading the titles, was able to recognize every single one and knew what part they played in the movie.
And I'm just like :0
(I mean the reason I also was looking it up was because I was running quotes through my head so maybe that should have tipped me off too)

You ever had that one movie from your childhood that both scarred you, but still watched on a regular basis? Well, for me, THIS was that movie. It’s SO messed up, yet so addicting at the same time. Maybe it was because I really enjoyed the music, or maybe it was because Blankey always reminded me of my own yellow baby blanket (which I actually still have, lol!). Whatever the case, I’ve always had a certain fondness for this weird, creepy little movie.
Also, I never owned an “individual” copy of this movie on VHS, but I did have it recorded on tape in the early 90s. Then, years later, I eventually got my own DVD copy, which pretty much has the same artwork as the American VHS (8th picture).
By the way, does anybody else think the 4th and 6th covers look laughably misleading? XD

My housemate showed me the first two Terminator movies for the first time and not only did I really enjoy them, but the main theme is an absolute BANGER of a soundtrack, I'm OBSESSED with it.
But seriously though: great movies. I don't think I'm supposed to watch any of the sequels except for maybe Salvation?

Okay, so I've been listening to ALL the Warner Music releases of Hans Zimmer's INCREDIBLE scoring work for Villeneuve's Dune films, and I've come to the conclusion that THIS is the best of the bunch ...
Tumblr media
It's less a specific soundtrack, more of a collection of all the main themes of the two films, but it's pretty definitive. It's a VERY comprehensive journey through Zimmer's incredible soundscape and a perfect encapsulation of what may be his true cinematic MASTERWORK. Most of all it's, like, INCREDIBLY soothing a lot of the time, too, and I've been finding it EXTREMELY effective in the background while I'm writing. I'd heartily recommend it to fans of the films, fans of the man himself's work, or just fans of really great music, period.
