are there any pokemon fans with a special interest in geology or tectonics out there? for nerd reasons, i need to know how Mt. Coronet formed, what its vague characteristics might be, and generally what this implies for the geography of Sinnoh as a whole. thank you!

oops I put way too much into the background of this. And yeah! I'm gonna try to do a few things for Gaeric week, I thought it sounded fun. This one's based off a headcanon I have; when Akari/Dawn goes to face you-know-who at the top of Mount Coronet, a massive storm covers the entire Hisui region.

Accurate reperesnation of navigating Sinnoh in Diamond and Pearl (the black line is post game including the near impossibwl to obtain event items that gave you Darkrai, Shaymin and the Azure Flute to catch Arceus... which was never released outside of Japan becauae it was "too complicated" for children...)

LITERALLY it's the running around in circles in the north side cave section between celestic town and eterna city. surely this is how you climb mount coronet right? right??? surely there's a path? and then some more running around at the top of the mountain once you do manage to make it. help

Fic title: "Live-blogging Armageddon (AKA a Social Media fic set in the Emissary AU)". (Alternatively, if one wants a lighter tine: "Sneaking into the Temple of Sinnoh GONE WRONG!!!1!")
the thing about the world is that it doesn't end quickly. armageddon is measured in years, not seconds; the present day has come about so slowly that most alive to see it don't remember it being any other way.
that way being: the sun sets quickly, and does not return easily. there is a fuzz of static on the horizon. reality is under constant assault by forces beyond human ken. god is dead, and its last child standing is slowly but surely losing the battle.
and yet, as the travelers from the past quickly discover, life goes on. it's not as if there are many other choices. certainly, in the ransei area at least, things feel rather doomed... but there's still laundry to do. groceries to pick up. shifts to clock in on. so people have adapted, as they usually do. they crack jokes about what the sun's up to. snap photos of mount coronet and share them with captions blatantly lying about what's behind the static, because it's not like anybody can technically prove them wrong. team rocket shares their latest developments, in the same clipped no-nonsense business voice even as they're talking about the slaying of the servants of the gods' will. one of the modern wardens sells prints based on the impossible lights she sees in the sky. she's only moderately successful.
the world teeters on the knife's edge; in its balance, people keep going.

The mechanics for breeding regional Pokemon forms are generally fine for gameplay purposes, but if you were to take them at face value, it would have been physically impossible for Weavile to debut in Gen IV unless the entire Sneasel population has gotten into the habit of carrying Everstones.

{ ooc. Hi hello may I please present to you a concept that is "Where the remaining Celestican branches are during the times of pla"
Tumblr media
With the Ancient Retreat obviously just being Cogita's home, but it still needs to be included. And no, the Sinjoh Area isn't the Sinjoh Ruins-- just the path that, if you were to follow past the clouds on the map, would eventually lead there. And the dots are just where the modern day town/city (Floaroma Town, Celestic Town, Eterna City) ends up being.
Obviously, the populations of each branch aren't very large, due to how long it took to even sustain the surviving population after the Incident(tm) that almost took all of the Celestica out. And you'd imagine that most are nomadic-- it helps plan where to be at what time of year. But each branch still goes with the old designations of land, and try their damndest to avoid the Galaxy Team and Diamond and Pearl Clans. After all, the former has accumulated terrifying amount of control over Hisui in 2 years, as well as set up camps on or very near to some sacred sites... and the clans literally had a war over who could use their name of Celestica, despite neither being them.
Those in the Floaro area search for Shaymin to revive their home and prevent the further decay or Hisui. The Eterna branch continues the search for the sun/light. Both take care of Eterna Forest and keep the Galaxy Team away from it via having a few work as guides from Jubilige Village to the Alabaster Icelands. And the Sinjoh branch may occasionally send a few people to check on their home to see if the light has returned.}
