His mask has two modes, the normal one that just covered the bottom of his face, his battle mask covers his whole face.

Bumblebee loves humans!! Some how he connected within them better. Bee often visits his human friends. He’s like a stray cat honestly, he pops in then pops out. He’s a pretty loving guy but can be stand off ish towards new people (he’s just shy probably.)

Though sometimes bumblebee had difficulty adjusting to being around the other bots he connected most to Elita. She was the last to show up to earth. Her place among the others is a little ambiguous. She does get treated different, the most glaring was Optimus blaitent and seemingly out of character mistreatment and aggressive towards her. This was not something bumblebee would allow to happen. The first time Op pulled that in front of him, Bee got in his face. Bumblebee can tell she’s got a lot on her mind and that her heart is somewhere else. Sometimes the stress does get to her, Bee is always there to be a friend she can count on.

Honestly, I'm so, so very glad AvA is the first fandom I've actually been an active participant in.

LONG RANT INCOMING

Throughout the years, I have "been in fandoms", but I never felt like posting my own art or works, commenting on vids (i didn't have a youtube account back then, still don't), or being anything other than a silent observer.

Back in March, when I came home from that math competition, and found AvMath in my recommendeds, and just clicked on it, I did not expect to get dragged into a fandom about stick figures, of all things. I remember watching AvPhysics directly after, then finding "Wanted", and watching it with no context. I remember going to the wiki, seeing all of the content that was made, and and binging AvM and the actual shorts and literally everything else.

And most of all, I remember thinking, "I wish I could just erase all of this from my mind and experience the magic all over again."

In May, I took a chance and went to Ao3. I knew it was a site to post fanfiction, but it had never been something I was interested in. But I was just curious, to see if fanfiction about this amazing fandom really existed. I didn't have an account, no; I think I just wanted to see.

There were about 1600-1700 fics on there about AvA, during that time. I didn't know how hits worked or kudos worked, but I just remember scrolling down until I could find something that looked like a lot of people had liked it.

And even then, I clearly remember the first fic I touched. "Identity", by LeenaFreeBird (I'll link it at the bottom). I absolutely loved it. I spent the rest of the month simply reading, and consuming all of the cool hcs, learning what fan terms meant, having an idea for my own fic that I thought, back then, I could never write.

Because I didn't.

I never made an account or wrote. I never left comments because part of me though people without an account wouldn't be able to, and that was just habit, at this point.

And even though I stepped slightly away from there in the months of June and July (we were in the process of moving halfway across the country, I had just watched the new Demon Slayer season, and upon recommendation had binged all of Haikyuu in a week), I always made sure to keep updated on whatever new AvA/M videos had been posted.

In August, I went back on Ao3.

SO MANY AMAZING FICS HAD BEEN WRITTEN IN THE SPAN I WAS AWAY.

I remember binging all of them for the month. I sat alone at lunch (as I was new I didn't have any friends), just reading them on my phone and getting sucked back into there.

In September AvI began. On a whim I logged back into my tumblr account that I had made like 5 years ago in 4th grade to post random rambling stuff about my life (I tagged nothing but my username wth), and redid my entire blog. I was sooo happy when one of my posts reached 100 notes.

I felt way stronger, and way braver. I joined the invite queue for Ao3, because I decided I DID want an account, and I DID want to post my own fics.

And everyone was (and is) SO NICE about it. They love my fics and posts (which I still consider really crappy, btw) to pieces, and always give me good comments. Even my bad fanart (another thing I got the courage to post during this time). Shipping wars never happen here (if they did, I wouldn't know about it). Rarepairs are appreciated, and we unanimously know the ships that should be completely illegal (not naming ship names here).

Everything and everyone is loved, and this is like the one little corner of the Internet where mostly all is safe and your opinion is valued. Sure, your fan theory may be wrong, but people here don't go and tell you "that's so stupid lol, no way that's true". They'll give you actual feedback, explain the evidence that falsifies it, or add to it because they like it.

Even on YouTube, if someone posts a yellue ship video, for example, they'll get hate, or "the color quad are just siblings lol", or "they r stickmen why are u shipping them". If someone HCs Blue as a girl (ik that's been debunked where we are at rn), they'll get a comment saying "it's stickman for a reason".

Like, let people have their opinions. Alan has never confirmed the color quad as siblings, or their origin story. I know he has said that he would like to avoid romance by not making female characters, but it's not like the people who ship yellue or grapeduo barge up to his door and demand he makes it canon. They're just peaceful, and everything that you're saying is fanon. For all we know, four different animators could have collabed on the sticksfight website and each animated a different character (not saying that's true, but we don't know).

And even with hollowhead pairs. Alan created them, yes, but how does Creator transfer to father in this scenario? We don't know, because he hasn't confirmed the hollowheads as siblings either. They still get hate on YouTube.

But Tumblr just loves everyone. The AvA community, for example, will always make you feel like you posted something good. They lift you up, not put you down. They appreciate your headcanons because it provides a new way of looking at things.

They appreciate you.

I feel so much better about putting myself out there, and I know I will do so more in the future. I now cannot comprehend how someone can see all of this content and think "they are just stick figures". No they aren't. They are stick figures with trauma, feelings, pain, heroic qualities, fatal flaws.

really! sometimes all you really need is a leap of faith, and that was exactly how I dropped into the cod fandom. When I joined the ghoap discord server I talked to one of the artist I really like and respected from my lurking time (hi @bressynonym) aaaand the rest is history

I didnt know how to draw properly, nor digitally, all I did was scribbling on OneNote (yeah!) and rambled about cod characters, it is daunting and it is scary to interact but after a while? you may just be able to find someone to brainrot together with

start small, like commenting, reblogging, talking, chatting- doesn't have to be towards artist/writers, it could be the art/fic enjoyers!

you need to put yourself out there if you want something

as to if you want to start in the fandom as a creator, here's some more tips (which are all based on my experience, I am no pro at doing this, hell Im still learning myself, and I am by no means speaking these on behalf on others!)

establish a goal: what are you making? fandom based? original creations?

as with starting new, everything may take a while for stuff to happen, you'll feel like you're speaking to the void at times (esp with original arts, but do know that your stuff do get perceive by others as time goes, I would advise to draw fandom stuff as a beginning to get that boost going if you want! or else it's going to be quite hard to get things rolling)

imo this is hardest part of any new creator, you'll have to bear with it and try not to give up (but I understand how incredibly demotivating it could get, there were times when I stopped posting about Raven entirely, but eventually I post it anyway cuz surely someone out there will like them, it just takes a lot of patiences and perseverance)

btw, engagement can also vary from time to time, you may be booming for a bit, then suddenly you dont, it is a cycle that will bound to happen

take rest regularly, and I mean a break from social media because numbers, discourse and everything can get to you, very quickly (I cannot emphasise this enough)

the numbers are not worth it over your mental health (comes with practice to really solidify this thought)

study the algorithm (pain): see what other creators are doing to get where they are, what tags are they using in their post? what features/niche do people like?(this is, if you really want to grab some form of engagement, bcuz reminder in the end you are creating art for yourself first!)

example: I think posts would get more reach if you tag it with the ship name first, followed by the characters' name (doesn't work all the time tho)

that's the thing about algorithm, it is ever-changing, and you'll have to learn to adapt with it when it does!

expanding on that, studying algorithm could be about ships (for example, ghostsoap is most popular in the fandom), or really good rendered art/flashed out fic that leaves your jaw on the floor, or ships that gets lesser attention in general which puts you, who make content about them, easier to be brought into the light (like Faralex)

bUT, it can also be personality!

(again, not saying this is meant for everyone and strictly from my own experience + what I observe) for me, I made up the lack of my art by establishing a personality: a wild panda who yaps about price and their oc and also kinda everywhere in the place (just like this post LOL), OR you're the person who named themselves after Soap's ash particle number OR you're the one who likes bottom Ghost- literally anything goes, you want to make an impression in different ways, some more funny/goofier than others but it works (be mindful and stay respectful tho, dont wanna be the asshole in the fandom now do ya?)

efforts ≠ engagement (not all the time, but most time) and this is a fact. Sometimes, you can't expect a piece you did for 10+ hours to get thousands views and likes, especially in a fandom space. You need to understand algorithm is that wonky. (very disheartening, but again, you make the art for you and the few others who genuinely likes them, and those people can go a long way) be mentally prepared for such events, and try not to beat yourself up too much for it

ultimately tho, do it, do it scared but do it anyways and again, draw the things that bring you joy, I hope these could be helpful in some ways!

Montreux Part 3: Queen Studio Experience - 2 Sept 2023

I had the opportunity to visit Queen Studio Experience in Montreux for the occasion of Freddie's birthday celebration! This day (2nd Sept) was the main agenda of my entire visit to Montreux. The morning was for my dissertation lol but the afternoon was for the Studio Experience and the evening was for the official Freddie Mercury Birthday party! So here was my afternoon.

Queen Studio Experience is in the Casino Barriere Montreux, which I didn't take a picture of from outside so here's one from Google on the left (📸 Martin Tanev). It's located where Mountain Studios used to be and has been converted into a Queen museum/exhibition since 2013. It was curated by Greg Brooks after the success of the Stormtrooper in Stilettos exhibition in 2011. You can read more about its history here.

This is the display at the entrance before the door! There are two lion statues in Freddie's outfits, a Flash Gordon pinball machine (I didn't actually try it so I don't know if it works!), and one of the replicas of Freddie's harlequin catsuit that he wore on tour from '77-78.

There are actually many costume replicas that take turns taking displays inside the QSE, some of the previous ones over the years can be seen here (with pictures of other displays in QSE over the years). In fact there was a new Brian costume replica put up a few weeks after this event, and I was even back in Montreux (yes I went twice 😭) just two days before that was put up so I missed it...

There was also this coin dispenser by the entrance where you can buy a commemorative coin of Queen Studio Experience! I had exactly the right amount of cash at that time so I got myself one!

Entering the door to the exhibition, there is a small room of fan arts, poems, prints, handwritings, and a lot of fan tribute items from fans all over the world. The walls are full of them and it's touching to see the outpouring love for Freddie and Queen from so many people over the years who have come to visit the place!

When I came to visit it was quite crowded which made it difficult to take a proper overall photo of the entire place. (Not that I did that the second time round I went there either, sadly...) It took some time to get clear shots of these costume replicas on display in the middle of the room.

Inside there are four cabinets of costume replicas. The first one is Freddie's famous yellow jacket for the Magic Tour. It's also supposed to be accompanied by his Shure Unisphere microphone, but it's been taken out as a photo prop with the fee for each photo going to the MPT.

The second is Brian's Zandra Rhodes top that he wore during the '74-75 tour. There's a cute little Knucklebonz Rock Iconz statue (from the Queen II collection) of Brian on the bottom left of the cabinet. A small detail that I've just noticed is the top doesn't use a zipper in the back but instead there are fourteen buttons to hold the thing together.

The third is Freddie's black and white catsuit which he wore around '77, one of the most notable occasion being the shoot of We Are the Champions music video. Complete with matching black and white ballet shoes!

Last and absolutely The Most, is Freddie's massive lobster(? prawn?) costume for the It's A Hard Life music video, which was designed by Natasha Korniloff. I'm not sure if the big feathers are part of it. I also noticed the yellowish leaves on the back of the legs. I don't remember if they were supposed to be there? But it was a nice detail.

Inside another display case is what a typical Queen studio setup looked like when they were there. Here are closer shots of each of them along with what was written for them:

Roger Taylor’s Ludwig chrome drum kit often played in concert including Live Aid.

John Deacon’s ‘Music Man Stingray’ Bass Guitar has featured in a number of concerts.

This Brian May ‘Guild’ replica of his ‘Red Special’ electric guitar has been used in concert.

Brian’s Vox AC30 guitar amplifier.

Shure SM85 vocal microphone used during Freddie’s last studio recordings.

Yamaha DX-7 Synthesizer played on many Queen songs, including “Who Wants to Live Forever”.

"Handwritten lyrics by Brian and Roger. The band often played the game scrabble during recording sessions." The handwritten papers are clearly from Jazz session - on the left looks like a running order of the songs in the album and their durations, and on the right seems to be a lyrics draft for "Fun It". I adore the little doodles and squiggles on the paper, some of which are unmistakably Freddie's, and you can find similar ones on some items that were auctioned at Sotheby's.

There were a lot of display cases for each album, most of which are albums that were recorded there in Mountain Studios. There's not enough space to attach close-up pictures of everything but it was so fascinating to see all the different tidbits when I was there.

There was a display case that showed photos of the inside of Freddie's apartment in Montreux which I quite liked. I have to admit I never looked it up before and only saw it for the first time during my Boat Tour with Phoebe, I even struggled to find which one it was from the boat cause I stupidly didn't google what it looked like before 💀. It was new information to me that the stuff from there were also auctioned at Sotheby's so I guess it's all empty now.

But outside the casino on the side of the building there is a Queen Tribute Wall, which is just a big wall dedicated as a giant guestbook for fans to leave their own handwritten marks. On the second photo above, on the far corner on the left (I didn't properly take a picture of) there's a door, which actually used to be the original entrance door to Mountain Studios when it was still active. Again great to see marks from people from all over the world!

It was only a quick tour of QSE before the main sessions which I'll have separate posts for! But before that the next one after this will be a Lyrics special, because QSE was a goldmine of handwritten memorabilia and I adore each and every one of them. Thank you for reading!

Ironically, I find it kind of difficult to imagine Grim as a human or a beastman, and whenever I try, I imagine something similar to his animal form – a hungry little gremlin lol I should draw his humanised form at least once!!

He’d probably be a bottom. The type that acts big and cool but in actuality just wants to be coddled and cuddled. The type that does something stupid and reckless and then looks down all guilty and mumbles that he’s sorry. He’s also an “ore-sama” type of character, and for some reason we tend to see those as bottoms, so I guess that tracks lol

As for the ship, I don’t really know… maybe Ace? Or Yuu since he is the one that ends up taking care of this animal lol But also Stitch because why not.

Welp, Amethyst had to get a good card eventually. Shift 4, when played, exert all opposing characters. This might see play in Amethyst/Ruby, but I think Amethyst/Sapphire might be a more likely candidate, since those colors like a board wipe.

I LOVE HER AND NEED A PLAYSET. Shift 5, at the end of your turn, choose an opponent, if they have more cards in hand than you, draw until you have the same. This is very good card draw, especially against Amethyst decks, and if you can get her out quickly enough, you can get around discard decks as well.

Shift 4, when played, banish an item or location. Notable mostly for being Simba's first Floodborn, he is not going to replace Benja or Aladdin - Brave Rescuer anytime soon, and Steel already has so many ways to get rid of locations.

The passive is nifty, but I don't understand why they keep giving Challenger to higher lore characters. He dies to Brawl, for fuck's sake. Most notable for the story beat, I guess we have different villains trying to fill in the power vacuum left by Ursula?

So first off this is Brainstorm in Lorcana, which will likely see play, second Basil gets hypnotized by Jafar, which is interesting, and third I really hope this means we get a Basil Floodborn in Emerald, and a good one this time!

I want to like this card, but he dies to Brawl and Daring Visitor, and if your first and second turns are just playing an item and a location and Pacha is your first character, you have just forfeited any board control.

This one is interesting. I like the flexibility, and it's cool that Emerald has been getting these "kicker" cards this set, but the uninkability does hurt her a bit. She may still see play just for how much she can do, though.

1: Which type of dragon is critically endangered?: Pretty much every species. Humans don't like dragons much. Some species are literally extinct.

2: What’s the dynamic between Edward and James?: Hm, I guess Uncle/Nephew kinda? Co-workers?? Clan mates??? I've never really been able to place their type of relationship. So it's kinda weird.🤔 They seem, friendly toward each other. At least in the newer episodes. I don't know really. Sorry.😅 Definitely gonna have to work on that one.

3: What’s Thomas’ backstory?: SAD STORY INCOMING! In the early days, when Henry, Gordon, and Edward had just become the new guardians of Gold Stone, they went out on missions to find and retrieve fleeing dragon trying to escape from humans. Thomas's mother was one of these.

Thomas's mother was running away from humans, trying to carry her newly hatched cub to safety. A hunting party was close on her tail and had already injured her wing. In a desperate attempt to escape, she leapt off a cliff into the ocean, and swam all the way to an island near Sodor. That's were Edward found her. Unfortunately, by the time he made it, the poor dragon had already succumbed to her injuries on the shore and was dead. But, underneath her wing, curled up and afraid, was a little dragon cub. It was Thomas. Edward was heartbroken her couldn't rescue the mother. But as a way of making it up to her, he adopted Thomas as his own.

This story is subject to change, but this is what I have so far.

4: What’s the most common cause of death to the dragons?: Humans. :( MORE Sad Stuff incoming! You have been warned! The situation between humans and dragons is weird. While they were always hunted, they are less known about now and less threatened. Dragon legends were more easily believed in the old days. And while humans sometimes take them down by mistaking for space craft or enemy planes, the dragons usually aren't found and simply succumb to their injuries far away from humans. Because even when dying, no one can allow what happened during the dragon hunting crusades. Not again...

5: Is there any dragons that can fly into space?: I actually talked about a dragon species that can here! But they are more or less supernatural entities that may or may not be real. In that case, no mortal dragon can fly in space. Because even if they're magic, they still need air to breath. Lol.

6: What type of dragon is Edward?: The working title for his species is a Lunar Moth Knucker. If you don't know what a knucker is, here's a handy chart of dragon types! You'll see it towards the bottom.

A few interesting things about his species is 1) they are said to be direct descendants of Lady, 2) their unusual deer like antlers help channel magic and manifest it in glowing swirls on the prongs or a small orb in-between them, and 3) their wings sport a eye-like pattern that can reflect light and is used for frightening off enemies. It's similar to the wings of a Lunar Moth, their namesake.

7: Are Frankie and Hurricane redeemable?: Absolutely! They'll get a redemption arc for sure!

8: Who will most likely annoy others with dumb jokes or puns?: Most likely? Thomas for sure. And he would do it annoy James and Gordon. And so would Bill and Ben. To annoy everyone.😂

9: I know it’s weird but what zodiac sign do you see in James?: I had to look up Zodiac signs for this, because I knew nothing about it. I still don't quite understand everything, but I'm going to say Capricorn? I don't know. Lol.

10: How do dragons age?: This one is complicated to answer, because I have yet to find a way that works well with the story. I have established though that Dragon can live up to hundreds of years old. And possibly age much slower than humans. I'll have to figure out a more definitive answer, but for now that's what I got.

well, we still don't have a ton to go off of and judge unfortunately, but in my unprofessional opinion, I will try.

this is the promo art that was released on September 10th of the p4. gonna be completely honest, there are things I like and things I'm a little unsure about. what I like most is that they look very manga accurate! however, that does also lead to a concern I have.

when I look at them, I can't help but feel that they look like manga colorings. that in itself isn't a bad thing, because it could possibly mean that they're working close to yana. but who knows. so the concerns that I have are these:

- tracing/heavily referencing the manga art, if reflected onto the whole anime, could mean that there isn't a lot of quality, effort, or creative direction going into the anime.

-the shading in this promo art is fine, but honestly, I'm not a fan of how gradients are used. I don't see the need for the bottom half of these characters to fade to black. the coloring remains to have the problem of desaturation, which I think was for me the only problem the teaser had, which I explained here last time you asked me hehe.

- this is a much more personal nit pick so it can be disregarded, but if the p4 were meant to look like playing cards or something like that, I do wish more detail went in. like a more varied but cohesive color pallet, or... mhm. maybe I do want them to be a bit glossier. I mean they're the face of the school, make them fantastic.

I think what I'm getting at but trying not to be harsh about is that it looks a bit lazy. and rushed.

however, this was not the case for the teaser. aside from the desaturation problem I expressed above which I think could impact the quality, I thought it was very well done, with a lot of time and effort, and a seemingly high budget?? enough?

I still think these shots are wonderful.

so all in all, I may~ have a new concern, until the actual trailer drops(some day, who knows) and I can properly judge the art style and the direction. but for now, there's not much need for me to worry. as long as the teaser wasn't where the entire budget went into...

It’s not recommended to walk in Manhattan at night. But when have you ever had safe, good ideas? As a self-proclaimed photographer, some things you must sacrifice for the perfect shot, and safety is one of them. (And not following that advice is also something you should ponder.)

The city's lights were just so brilliant tonight,and paired with the strawberry supermoon, you couldn’t help yourself.

You find yourself in a park, getting a gorgeous shot when a voice interrupts your artistic journey. “I guess we’re after the same thing, huh?”

You spin around, and a young man with grey hair smiles at you. He’s skinny and petite, and yet his smile draws you in and gives you a sense of fire in his heart. It’s only after a moment do you notice the Fujifilm in his hands.

“Maybe we are,” you offer him a small smile, clearly hoping he would leave you and your socially awkward ass alone, but he doesn’t seem to get the hint.

He nods at the camera clutched in your hands. “Mind if I take a look?”

Your bottom lip finds its way between your teeth. You’ve never really shown your work to others outside of your family and friends—you aren’t truly a professional, not like he seems to be.

As if sensing your hesitation, the man whose name you still haen’t got smiles reassuringly. “No pressure of course. Sometimes it really can feel like bearing your soul to someone.”

The complete and utter understanding in his voice does the exact opposite of what it was meant to accomplish, and you get a bust of confidence. “Here,” you say, offering out your old and worn camera. The stranger is surprised but takes it with a warm smile and a small ‘thank you,’ suddenly seeming less intimidating and more…human.

There is a moment of silence as he clicks through some of your pictures. “These are really good,” he says, looking up at you and you avoid eye contact, instead focusing on the streetlamp over his head. “You’re very talented and have an eye for composition.”

“Ah, it’s nothing special, I didn’t draw inspirationg from my–” you start to mutter, but he holds up a hand to stop you in the middle of your sentence.

When he finally is able to meet your eyes, it feels like you’re rooted to the ground and yet sinking into his gaze at the same time. “Don’t say that,” he says quietly but with such intensity that you wince. “Although it’s often said that the best art comes from one’s experiences, that’s not always the case. Even the most casual pieces hold just as much integrity as the more soulful ones. It’s clear you did your best, and that’s what matters.”

There is so much sincerity in his voice that you can’t help but look away. It’s not often you get a thought-out opinion on your work, and hearing it come from a stranger just makes those words mean even more.

“Thank you.” You almost whisper your words of gratitude but the man takes no offence, instead returning your camera with a smile. When you put it back into its bag and sling the strap around your shoulder, he raises an eyebrow.

“Done then?” You nod, and he fumbles in his pocket before pulling out a business card and handing it to you. “I know it may seem like a scam, so feel free to ignore it if you want, but I actually run a studio and I would love for you to come in and chat more. Have a good night.”

And just like that, he walks away and is gone before you can even blink. It’s too dark to look at the card, even under the flickering streetlamp, so you put it in your pocket and it weighs heavily until you reach your modest apartment.

It’s only then you pull it out and look at the name on the sleek, silver card. Kim Hongjoong. A quick google search later and you almost drop the card to the floor. You just had a three am conversation with a world-renowned photographer.

Almost a week passes before you have the courage to dial the number and it rings for such a long time that you think he may have forgotten when a click is finally heard. “H-hello?” you practically whisper out and there is such a long silence that you think he’s hung up when–

“City girl.”

juries need to be reworked. its been known for many years at this stage and we can no longer pretend 5 people is a representative sample worth the same weight as the thousands per country who vote. if you tried to use 5 people as a representative sample in any other scenario you'd get laughed out of the room. they aren't eurovision experts, they're not like the panel at a gymnastics competition or something, they're just complete music industry randoms. when the two boards are this disprate it is stark evidence that the juries do not represent the music taste of the country and are given too much weight compared to the thousands of votes. it's like we watched two completely different shows. they're out of touch, corruptable, and value "art value" (ballads) over what the viewing public actually values (being entertained on the entertainment show). it does not prevent bloc/diaspora voting because the juries do that just as much if not more, as we saw last year with the jury corruption scandal. it's just last year they got caught. this may be the straw that broke the camels back with the juries and i hope it is.

käärijä would not have won with the old combined system because despite getting more 12s in the public than loreen, he received so many low jury scores whereas loreen conversely received many 10s from the public. he would have won if we only had the public vote, and with a historic 2nd highest score ever tied with Sobral. it's unmistakably the juries that are the issue.

i'm happy loreen won, that's my girl, but i would have been just as happy for käärijä to win, too. i would have prefered käärijä to have won than this outcome, however, because her win is now tainted forever and will not be seen as legitimate by such a large swathe of eurofans. the amount of vitriol i'm seeing towards her, as if she manufactured this outcome, is making me so angry. as if she's the first winner to ever return, as if there isn't decades of precedent for it. her returning isn't new or special, and she was chosen by the voting public of her country in one of the most rigorous pre-esc contests, melodifestivalen. she wasn't chosen by internal selection for gimmick reasons, like the uk sending a tiktok celebrity to chase clout. so the way the historic first ever double win for a queer woman of colour has been fucked up in such a way due to a broken system is just. not the tea. i really hope she has a good support system around her in the next few weeks because she's going to end up wrongly having to shoulder so much of the blame.

show thoughts:

overall line-up fantastic, so strong I couldn't predict the bottom. a very deserved no-nil year. the fact this line-up was down to public voting rather than jury interference does not escape my notice, either.

flag parade was a really fun time and loved seeing the old guard. a shame ruslana couldnt be there but loved seeing her in the interval vt. loved seeing tina karol also, underrated by everyone except us diehard fags lol.

show was way too uk centric. despite kalush performing the intro video was all about us and our shit celebrities. sam ryder should not have gotten a solo performance and the interval should not have been about liverpudlian acts. even julia's participation was diminished from what we saw in the semis - they should have had her in the green room instead of alesha or hannah if they were going to bring in graham as a 4th. the uk did not win in 2022 and that wasn't highlighted. it was very disrespectful to ukraine's win.

the interval was a poor attempt to piggyback off of Switch Song which i dont think will ever be topped, tbqh. I am, however, so happy Dadi Freyr finally got to perform at a final after two runs that were out of his hands. It was very funny having him perform Atomic Kitten, of all things, however, lmao.

hannah was a phenomenal host in general, one of the best there's been in modern day. similar to nikkie tutorials being a great host, there's a skill to seeming relaxed and open to improvisation that most hosts do not have. comparing her to alesha dixon was night and day. it was comfortable to watch hannah because she was just inviting the audience to have fun with her. graham has this same skill because he does it on his show. other countries should take note of this and choose hosts that aren't just people who can read an autocue but instead people who are light on their feet.

hannah and graham were a fantastic duo in the jury votes, it was the first time in memory where i've enjoyed watching the hosts kiki during it instead of me going wandering around getting drinks or eating. except for hatari they didn't seem stressed about time constraints or miffed about spokespeople going over the way most hosts are and it made for a much more comfortable experience because they were just vibing. it was nice. it was like having friends in the room pulling faces.

the jury rep who said "this was an exciting night for the girls and the gays" absolutely fucking sent me to pluto.

overall i enjoyed the show, one of the most enjoyable there's been, but yeesh. the way this esc may end up being a turning point year is so fucking unfortunate.

hi everyone! little bit of an update!!

to those of you waiting for the next part in the store shifter au: it’s almost done, i swear.

the rest of this is a lengthy explanation cause y’all know me, i can’t write something short. tldr will be bolded at the bottom if you don’t wanna read all this.

i wanna explain something real quick: in my early years of middle school, i was into creepypasta, which pipelined into Marble Hornets, which pipelined into a ton of other slenderverse series. If you don’t know what that is, it’s an ARG with an emphasis on characters being stalked or hunted by Slenderman. All of them are really really good in their own way and do interesting things with not only Slendy, but adding their own new big bad’s and lore and i’d highly recommend watching one if you haven’t yet. (i may make a separate post about which you should watch based on what kind of content you most enjoy cause i really want to indoctrinate more people into this)

My favorite slenderverse at the time had a very big emphasis on early November, specifically November 11th. So i started to have a little tradition of watching those videos every November 11th even after the hyperfixation had faded just for a bit of nostalgia.

Fast forward to now- it has snowballed to the point where every year for over half a decade now, November 11th rolls around and I am thrown violently headfirst back into my slenderverse phase. I cannot control it. I’ll be like “ok this year i’ll be normal about it, after this long, surely watching one video won’t spiral me again” and it always fucking does. No other hyperfixation i’ve ever had has functioned on a calendar cycle so idk wtf this is. This is the 6th year of this. I cannot escape.

So yeah, per how it’s been since middle school, November-January my main hyperfixation will be slenderverse. It could be shorter, it could be longer, but that’s the general pattern i’ve noticed over the years. After that i’ll pretty much be back to normal.

Don’t get me wrong, i’m not taking a 3 month hiatus or anything. I promise i will do my best to get the store shifter au part out before fucking 2024. But if you’ve sent me an ask recently and i’ve ignored it, i’m genuinely so sorry, but i can’t force myself to work on new stuff right now when mcyt g/t isn’t my main interest. I’ll do my best to get to it eventually when the hyperfixation comes back a bit more, i do read and process and think about every single ask i receive and it always makes my day when i get a new ask, but yeah. For the next few months i’m probably only gonna be working on and posting stuff that’s been in the works, are from asks that we’re given to me like a year ago and already have wips in progress to answer them, or art that i just haven’t given you yet.
