I made this for the lovely and kind @moorishflower based on a little snippet when the first beginnings of "Beautiful, Strange, and New" were just starting to be written. The scene is from the end of part 1 (chapter 9) which you can read here!

Morpheus' transformation really happened, only he took Hope by the hand, not Death. Now his duties are distributed between Hob, who guards Dreaming and returns escaped dreams and nightmares, and also guards the minds of people in a coma, in Limbo and Daniel, who has become a Prince of Stories and is responsible for children's dreams. Morpheus is still the Lord of Dreams and Nightmares, he creates them, he sends them, but he no longer needs to control everything .

Sandman Colouring Sheets/Craft Templates

I wanted to do something for June 7th this year....And I've had a few people ask about my work being used for textile/glass work. So, I dug out some of my pen and ink illustrations, gave them a spruce up, and if you'd like to use them as stencils/templates or you'd simply like to colour them in. Please feel free. 😊

There's a man standing on his doorstep. Technically two men. One carrying the other. "I am sorry," says the man who's standing. "I could think of no better place to bring him." The other man, cradled in the arms of the first, curled up like a foetal doe with his long legs tucked up and his arms folded inwards, is Hob's stranger. Is Dream.

On a bright and unforgiving Sunday morning, Hob Gadling, having attended the Wake of his best friend, opens his kitchen door to find...his best friend. Changed. Alive. Human, and carried in the arms of the being intended to replace him. Given one month to decide if life is worth living, Hob and Daniel attempt to convince Morpheus of his worth at the same time as all three of them navigate their feelings for each other.

WIP + ABANDONED DOODLE DUMP TIME YAY

1 + 2) Dreamling-ish! (Hob & Daniel) Started Oct 2022 and I'm STILL trying to figure out the lineart. Trying to make it a bit surreal/abstract, a borderless comic where each panel connects to each other. My first time drawing Hob, and without a reference bc I was being dumb, so I think i still need to go back and tweak things a bit. Def going to finish it one day though.

3) Dreamling doodle that I've lost the context for. Really like it though!

4) Mini comic of Morpheus and Lucienne that I wanted to use to promo the Into the Dreaming zine! Thought it was cute but a bit convoluted as zine promo :(

5) Right I really struggle to chibi-fy my art style and wanted to doodle some dreaming folk and endless siblings. Didn't really go anywhere but fun!

6) Drawing Morpheus in fleshtone feels a little strange so this was an excuse to make him look distinctly different from any other time I've drawn him + motivation for the strangest finals week I've ever gone through in my life.

7) Bonus! The first Dreamling art I ever did and never finished, and probably the first Sandman art I did, under the cut because it's so noodle-y lol:

throw back to that time i was analyzing the relationship between daniel and hob😭😭

Initially I wasn’t going to do anything else with Death of the Endless!Daniel Hall, but I thought the idea of immortal man meets child of death was sort of funny. So have a mini comic about him meeting Hob as a kid:

*Death did not so much as “adopt” Daniel but kept visiting him and Lyta when he was a baby with the excuse of checking if he was still mostly human. Death was good at taking care of him, so by the time he was 3 Lyta said nothing when Death called them both the mom.

**Hob thought it was funny at the time to not tell Daniel he was immortal. The face the child made trying to fathom how old Hob was amused him too much. Really, he did plan on telling him next time. Except there was no “next time” as Lyta was less than pleased that Dreams babysitting featured a bar.

He thought nothing of it till over a decade later when Daniel walked into his college lecture. That same angry face and a loud “YOU” tipped Hob off exactly who it was. This started an originally one-sided, petty rivalry. Hob accidentally messes up a date in a lecture and Daniel’s hand is shooting up to correct him. In turn, Daniel is always the person chosen when Hob asks a question and the whole class is silent. The class has started a bet on why exactly the two are in a feud.

Assumptions include: Hob must be family or a family friend (Hob saying Daniel has always been an odd goth person, Daniel already knowing he owned the local bar, and Hob once memeing a young picture of a child who looks way too much like Daniel-courtesy of Dream-contributed to this), the two having met before (theories range from Hob having taught him before to they were in a bad production of Shakespeare together, purely from how much glee the boy seemed to take in his professors rants against the bard), or two of the nicest people on campus just met each other and it was loathing at first sight.

BONUS:

Death visits Hob days later just to show him her seemingly endless amount of pictures. He’s too polite (or fears upsetting the literal personification of death?) to ask her to stop and sits through them all.
