Maybe they want to help a lot but that doesn't matter bc their sensitivity and lack of flexibility (falling apart easily at small things) makes it so they have almost 0 capacity to make a positive difference and may even make things worse by incompetence which no one needs.

Ishmaels particular is straight up just her ocd diagnosis and it surprises me when people dont catch on to it its so blatant (not to mention her passive skills name)

Not just the obsessive compulsive part but the neurosis part, ocd was classed as a neurotic disorder but that kinda terminology has fallen out of fashion lately

I guess its to be expected sadly, OCD is incredibly misunderstood thanks to media making them clean freaks and really hammering on the compulsive aspect more than the obsessive one

Not to mention the fact ocd is usually a villain trait, the clean neat freak perfectionist villain

Thats what makes Ishmael special to me is seeing it from a sympathetic angle, seeing Dante keenly aware of her pain during 4.5 and it being framed the way it was, as traumatizing and draining

Its why i still wanna see her chapter its not always i can see an OCD character in media thats not a punchline

asugis honestly such a cool character locked behind 1) the most horrible plot device in any game ive ever seen in my life and 2) looking too much like a guy from the last game and it SUCKS because he was basically already given a great character concept with all the saizo stuff but then intsys was like “wait but what if was also gaius?!” which killed the appeal for most people. which i get, but hes also just… like he has some similar speech patterns but they were both brought up so differently and in wildly different contexts its like… hes really… not gaius… the most hes got is like the sweets thing but even then they both go about the candy thing pretty differently so? its just the fucking hair. which, by the way, asugi doesn’t even look good with gaius orange. like omg… idk man i think asugis a really fun guy with good supports all around and it just sucks hes brought down by the worst gimmicks of all time
