For anyone who would like to help get food out to the Moore County folks affected by the attack this weekend, this is a smaller effort but a local family will be grilling out and handing out food this afternoon, and handing out whatever leftovers they have tomorrow. Any and all donations are appreciated, no matter how small. I will be both helping hand out food & will be keeping an eye on any other direct aid opportunities. venmo: Ivan-Maximo-1 cashapp: $sarastaal1

Please please please for the sake of your own safety do not get comfortable with electoral wins. History, both ~100 yrs ago and the recent history, have shown us that fascists don’t care. If you’re a white queer or jew, you might have felt like the tides have changed enough to stop worrying. It is bad when people check out. It only endangers our community to get complacent with a good midterm for democrats and protections for marriage being passed. Abortion being legal did not stop clinic bombings. People voting out fascists will not stop fascists. Be prepared. War has already started. We have lost too many already. They are cheering for our death. Do not trust the police. They are working with the fascists. Do not trust the politicians to do anything meaningful about stopping them. It is on us, the people, to make them too afraid to try to kill us.

On Saturday night (3 December), around 37,998 customers were left without electricity in North Carolina’s Moore County, according to CNN.
But it wasn’t just any power outage, as Moore County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a Facebook post: “As utility companies began responding to the different substations, evidence was discovered that indicated that intentional vandalism had occurred at multiple sites.”
“Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields reports that the mass power outage across the county is being investigated as a criminal occurrence,” the sheriff’s office added.
On the evening of the power cut, North Carolina anti-LGBTQ+ activist Emily Grace Rainey shared a Facebook post which simply read: “The power is out in Moore County and I know why.”
Shortly afterwards, she shared a photo of Moore County’s Sunrise theatre, which was set to host a drag show that evening, shrouded in darkness. She added the caption: “God will not be mocked.”
Rainey had been vocal on social media about her opposition to the drag performance, describing it as “depraved”, and an example of “grooming”.
On Sunday (4 December), Rainey reported that she had been visited by police officers in relation to the power outage.
“I welcomed them to my home,” she wrote on Facebook.
“Sorry they wasted their time. I told them that God works in mysterious ways and is responsible for the outage. I used the opportunity to tell them about the immoral drag show and the blasphemies screamed by its supporters.
“God is chastising Moore County. I thanked them for coming and wished them a good night.”
It is unclear whether the police investigation into the power cut is thought to be related to the drag performance.
Chief Mike Cameron of the Southern Pines Fire and Rescue Department told The Pilot that the substations had been damaged with guns, and a reporter for the local paper said the areas were being searched for bullet casings.
The sheriff’s office said it will give more information on the ongoing investigation at a press conference on Sunday afternoon.
Some updates:
Two substations damaged.
~40,000 without power.
State of Emergency declared, and a curfew (9pm-5am) in effect.
Moore County schools will be closed tomorrow (Monday, December 5th). Tuesday’s status is yet to be determined.
Due to the extent of the damage, power may not be fully restored until Thursday (December 8th).
This is domestic terrorism.

The Right Isn't JUST Hurting Trans People
🎀 NEW VIDEO 🎀 we've heard about the attack on the power substations in Moore County, North Carolina that people allege was to shut down a drag event - but that wasn't the only one.
the pacific northwest actually experienced 6 instances of attacks/vandalism on power substations this November and, unsurprisingly, neo-nazis have been sharing materials about how to do just that - as well as celebrating what happened in Moore
just another reminder that far-right extremists are the greatest domestic threat to US national security 👍

I live an hour from Moore County, NC.
If you haven’t heard, the lay down is that last night there was a local militia in the county that attacked 3 electrical substations. Wiping out power for around 40,000 residents. The county was put under a state of emergency with a curfew of 9pm to 5am. The cause? It’s pretty obvious. A person named Emily Rainey, who allegedly participated in Jan. 6, claimed on Facebook the she knew why the attacks were committed. She stated, “I told them [The sherif department of Moore County] that God works in mysterious ways and is responsible for the outage. I used the opportunity to tell them about the immoral drag show and the blasphemies screamed by its supporters.” She posted a picture of the theater where the drag show was going to be held, with the caption “God will not be mocked.” The drag show was not canceled, the show started at 7 and the lights went out at 8:30. The show continued as people used their phone flashlights.
This is another rung of the ladder of transgender genocide. Less than two weeks after the Colorado shooting, we have more acts of violence against trans people. This time, a whole county of people were shoved into the consequences of transphobia. The sick in hospitals, parents storing milk for their babies, a person using a power drill, a child who needs a nightlight, all of them suffered the consequences of fascism. This is a good example in my eyes that when genocide befalls us, more and more people will be shoved into the pit. No cis people are safe, all of you are at risk. All of you are slowly sinking in quicksand while trans people suffocate under this violence. The more you do nothing, the more the guns pointed at us will shift to you. And because this danger has been ignored for so long, with liberalism clutching your throats to believe that “peace” will fix everything, the guns will be pointed at you anyways. Peaceful protesting is a weak demonstration to the fascists who are armed. The system in place by these fascists cannot be overturned with chants and signs. That’s simply reality.
As an anon said to me: “Never let queerphobia snuff out your light.”
All we want to do is live and love.

There's a lot of misinformation circulating after the possible domestic terrorism here in North Carolina.
A story with some unexpected cameos from hate groups, January 6, drag queens, Steve Bannon and policing that might leave something to be desired.

As A Moore County Native
Queerphobic people nationwide want to make queer people feel unsafe in public. And they are willing to punish people who are not queer, but are accepting of queer people. The assholes in Moore County don't care that they are harming, possibly even killing, straight people. They want to harm queer people, and make it unbearable to be an out queer person, at any and all costs.
The only way to stop them is to go beyond holding them accountable, it's to proactively stand with queer people and to join hands with us. Together we can stop these sorts of people and prevent people from becoming like this, but queerphobic people, particularly extremists and inciters who are willing to commit crimes to stop society from accepting and caring about queer people, are counting on their fellow straight people not calling out their intolerance.
It's important to remember that the terrorists in Moore County don't care about whether or not you are gay. They don't care if you are trans. You live in Moore County and that's enough to merit you deserving to be punished in their eyes. The "crime" that the terrorists sought to address was a family-friendly drag event. They were willing to commit actual violence, literal destruction of property, regardless of who got hurt in the end, to cancel the show. They don't care about you, regardless of your sexual orientation or gender. Do not let them get away with this, even if you are not from Moore County. It's Moore County tonight, who knows where it'll be next time, if we don't crackdown on this new sort of terrorism here and now?

There was supposed to be a drag show last night in Moore county, so a bunch of confused transphobes caused a power outage to an entire county to shut it down, because they’re toddlers who are big enough to be terrorists.
I hope some of those dumbasses were living in Moore County and had to waste a lot of food because of their dumbass action.
This drag show was targeted by LibsOfTikTok last month, by the way.

I went to MyRadar to check wind speeds and noticed sort-of nearby Moore County had so many power outages it was in the red (as of about 3 AM EDT, 40,648/63,816)
so then I went to Twitter to check what was going on and it was absolutely not what I expected—
This is right-wing domestic terrorism. Holy shit.

In the state of NC, abortion care is under attack by the new supermajority the Republican Party has formed in our General Assembly. The bill essentially eliminates abortion from conception to birth and allows for no exceptions. In my county, the county board of commission has voted to adopt an anti-abortion resolution that would come into full effect with the passing of the House bill. Please sign this petition to make our representatives aware that abortion rights are not ones to be trifled with and remove this extreme resolution.

Reporting via alissaazar on mastodon social: “this report is UNCONFIRMED. thread via @ cmclymer on bird app. “Tonight, there are unconfirmed reports coming out of Moore County, NC of three substations being shot up with firearms simultaneously to cut power to a drag show. Reportedly, nearly 40,000 people in Moore County are currently without power. Emily Rainey, a former Army officer who resigned after the Army launched an investigation into her participation in the Jan. 6th attack, posted this about the power outage. In a follow-up post, Rainey tagged Sunrise Theater, where the drag show was being held, and wrote “God will not be mocked” above what appears to be a photo of the building tonight during the power outage. I’m worried for residents of Moore County who rely on life-sustaining medical equipment and just had the power go out. This attack has immediately put lives in danger, to say nothing of the campaign of terror being waged against LGBTQ people. Here’s Rainey’s update on being visited by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office after her post referencing the attack.“ (third pic)”
Further reporting by alissaazar:
“it’s confirmed that the destruction of the substations was intentional, what’s not confirmed is the motive. If true this is a huge fucking escalation.”
https://twitter.com/cmclymer/status/1599270996204466177?s=46&t=pgZVM-iRC8AMNBhX8VPG8Q
Still further unofficial, unconfirmed, and mixed reports that during the outage, looting occurred at either two local guns stores or one local gun store and a Walmart (known to carry firearms). Opportunists who knew of the coordinated outage may very well have armed themselves further during the chaos of the event.
This is blatant domestic terrorism and is an escalation beyond measure. Please form solidarity groups, build community with those you trust, and broaden your perspective of how we keep us safe. Shit is getting real.
