I keep coming back to this shot in Godzilla Minus One because it's basically perfect. As a classic Kaiju scale shot, it honestly can't be beat.
From the perspective of those beneath him, the only thing larger than the monster is the shadow of destruction left in his wake.
Normally the scale shot compares humans and their buildings to the monster, but in this one the monster is dwarfed by its own devastation, and I just think that's beautiful on so many levels.

The Brontosaurus armature from King Kong and The Son of Kong (both 1933). Looks as huggable as a rat terrier, but that foam-rubber scowl is the face of one mean fucker.

Gwanji as a pachycephalosaur, random idea that sprung to me since I thought about how big vintage Pachycephalosaurus depictions were.
Would honestly explain his massive level of aggression in the film, haha

Imma be honest, I don't care that the werewolf design in Wolf Man (2025) wasn't that good
I liked the story, I liked that the transformation was slow, I think the actors were phenomenal, and while I think the design could've been more wolfish, the prosthetics are awesome, like insanely good practical effects
For crying out loud, Christopher Abbott barely had any dialogue in the 2nd half of the movie, but still managed to portray every goddamn emotion exquisitely!
So I forgive them for the monster design, cuz I genuinely loved everything else, and it's not even that bad, he’s grotesque & feral & that's obviously what the filmmakers wanted, so good for them!

The fact that Godzilla's atomic breath actually scorches him in Godzilla Minus One is a fantastic little detail.
Remember when we all saw this clip and we thought "what the hell did that to him?"
Tumblr media
But that was him! His wrath, his fury, his flames burned so hot that it boiled the water around him and burned his flesh away. His roar isn't merely one of absolute victory, but also of indescribable suffering. A hate so powerful that it burns the one holding it is an apt metaphor.
Imagine the kind of pain he must be in, and yet he continues to freely use this terrible weapon, like stabbing a knife into someone while holding the blade. It's as if he couldn't care less.
"I know I will heal." he's probably thinking, "But you won't."

Mummy Man!
Tumblr media
The Monstrous Adventures of Mummy Man and Waffles, as photographed by Mummy Man artist Robb Mommaerts!
If you’re up for a book featuring a goofy, heroic mummy, his pet turtle, and a couple of misfit kids mixing it up with a spooky horde of B-movie monsters, then this is the book for you! Written by me (Steve Behling, the That’s Believable guy) and illustrated by Robb Mommaerts, it’s a middle-grade romp that John Patrick Green (creator of the InvestiGators graphic novels) calls, “A nonstop thrill, chill, and slimy spill ride!”
I’m very proud of this one — eight years in the making. It would mean the world to me if you’d give it a try!
You can get a copy HERE, or ask for it at your local library!
