Portraits of the last Stone Era Snaktooth Island matriarchs (before Queen 1 came in and basically destroyed this whole system).

Below cut is some information about these grumps

Captain Seaside (this is the title she goes professionally, she uses her actual full name in more casual spaces) ruled The Coast, or where present day Boiling Bay would be. The two grumpuses next to her are her subordinate brothers. She's the youngest matriarch of this era and was the most likely to take risks and challenge her superiors (the other matriarchs) if it's to help her communities. She doesn't consider herself a bugsnak "worshiper", but she does acknowledge how important they are on the island. The only bugsnak she'd consider "worshiping" would probably be a Megamaki, as she considers it the most powerful (and coolest) bugsnak in the area.

Olsa Patchfern was the matriarch of the Falls Valley, or where present day Garden Grove and Flavor Falls would be. She's the complete opposite of Seaside, being the oldest matriarch of the era and was very insistent that the word of superiors and the islands practices must be upheld at all times, even if it may lead to the harm of hers or other communities. She worships the bugsnax and believes they're mystical beings with unimaginable powers (which is sorta true?). She was the matriarch of Alabee Smoothpebble, the grumpus who became the first Queen of bugsnax, and they were both very close and respected on another... until Alabee got sacrificed and like. Everything happen. She also has a very close relationship with Elass in the past but shhh don't worry about that right now.

Lentha Breezeblow (or more commonly known as Monohorn) ruled The Peak, or where the Frosted Peak would be. She and her communities are very powerful, but due to living on the literal top of a mountain, communications with the other island grumpuses is difficult. She doesn't particularly view the bugsnax as something that should be worshiped (seeing how there's no snax imagery in her portrait), but just as a very convent food source. And while she's very physically strong, she's incredibly timid and prefers being a more passive grumpus in the face of difficulties. She typically leaves more difficult work to her subordinates to deal with.

Elass Dunecuts ruled the Desert, or where Sizzlin' Sands would've been. She's a more mellow matriarch, being more of a listener compared to a talker. She has mixed feelings on bugsnax, and just being a matriarch in general. She's aware of the importance of bugsnax in her society, but she can't seem to shake off the concerning aspects about them. Yes, grumpuses have been living on the island and eating snax for centuries, but Elass still hasn't gotten over how weird is was that bugsnax transform limbs, or how you need to eat them raw or else they'll turn to mush, or how some fully snakified grumpuses would seem to disappear from their communities for no reason. She frequently asked about these at a young age, which just lead to "Oh don't worry about it!" types of responses, so she'd given up on asking others her questions. Still, those concerns never went away, even if she regularly eats bugsnax. She was very close to Olsa at a younger age, with the two of them meeting up in secret frequently, they really loved each other a lot. But they've grown distant after becoming matriarchs. And while Olsa is still very kind to her, Elass just doesn't feel that old connection anymore. Zereh Quickcuts (Queen 2) is one of her very distant relatives (from one of her sister's sides, but still related either way).

All things considered, I don't think any of us expected such a tragic origin for Yuma's catchphrase...

Also, it might be just me speculating at this point, but the odds seem VERY high that Lution/Rution/Arc took a page from the original Ultraman's book and fused with Yuma as a child to save his life during K-Day, after having failed to save his parents. It also adds a bunch of context as to why he embraces Yuma during the Rise sequence; it seems as though he's attempting to be a source of comfort and strength for him in spite of how limited their interactions are, and acting as a guiding force in times of difficulty.

Now I'm not explicitly saying Lution's trying to be a guardian for Yuma in multiple contexts, but I can't help but feel like it might be leaning towards an angle where they're trying to fill the void left behind as a result of Yuma's parents' untimely deaths, which was a direct result of their own incompetence when fighting Monogelos.

Ngl I alr had a good idea of the potentially sad origin of his catchphrase considering the synopsis

But you and I definitely agree that it seems that based on what we've seen of Arc, he definitely feels guilty of not being able to protect Yuma's parents, especially when we saw that he did saw the 3 of them run and attempted to protect them. And he most definitely saved Yuma as we saw the Monohorn was headed his way before he blacked out.

Also the way he talks to Yuma as well is a pretty telling sign that he's definitely trying to gently guide Yuma as well

Kaiju Weeks in Review (March 31-April 13, 2024)

It took forever (maybe they were waiting on the returns for Godzilla x Kong), but Apple TV+ has finally greenlit season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. According to its listing on the WGA site, it'll run from 2024 to 2025. Multiple spinoffs are also in development at Apple; no details on those yet.

Speaking of Godzilla x Kong, it continues to do well, staying #1 at the domestic box office in its second weekend and falling to #2 (behind Civil War) in its third. Current totals are $158 million domestic and $437 million worldwide. It'll soon pass the domestic gross of Kong: Skull Island and the total gross of Godzilla vs. Kong.

Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers II #1 promises more of everything: more heroes (the White Ranger joins our heroes from the first comic), more villains (including Psycho Ranger Ghidora up there), and more alternate universes. Godzilla gets a bit buried in all the Ranger antics though.

A couple of kaiju series debuted on TV too: Kaiju No. 8 and Season 2 of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again. The former followed the manga very closely, and as such didn't really keep my attention; hopefully it innovates a bit more going forward. Chibi Godzilla's as irreverent as ever.

Tsuburaya Productions has released preliminary information on the next installment of the Ultra Series, Ultraman Arc. The logline:

A town called Hoshimoto City... On Mt. Shishio, there is a gigantic object towering above the city. Named "Monohorn," (モノホーン, Monohōn) it is actually a kaiju’s horn stuck in the ground since an incident 16 years ago. After the incident known as "K-DAY" in which kaiju appeared all over the world at the same time, monster disasters have become commonplace. In Japan, the Global Defense Force (GDF) uses force to deal with them, while SKIP works closely with the community in scientific investigations and evacuation guidance to prevent the occurrence and aggravation of kaiju disasters. SKIP has also been investigating the Monohorn, the horn of the galactic beast Monogelos (モノゲロス, Monogerosu) that appeared on K-DAY. Yuma, then only 7 years old, was camping with his parents in Mt. Shishio when Monogelos attacked. After miraculously surviving unscathed, he decided to pursue research into monster biology. Despite his traumatic past, he has not lost his “power of imagination” to dream. As a rookie investigator, Yuma joined SKIP and was assigned to the Hoshimoto City Branch. Not long after, another large-scale monster disaster occurs in Hoshimoto City. As Yuma sees the desperate people in front of him, a strong will springs into his mind — “I want to protect them!” At the moment when this strong and straightforward desire welled up from the bottom of his heart, Yuma hears the voice of Rution  (ルティオン,  Rution) a being of light that he once saw as a child: “You and I are one and the same… Unleash your imagination!” When a mysterious light appears in Yuma's hand and envelops his body, the unleashed power of imagination unites light and man and he transforms into Ultraman Arc, the Giant of Light who protects the future! Alongside his precious friends, Yuma, as well as Ultraman Arc, races towards his everlasting dream!

Yuma is played by Yuki Totsuka, while Takanori Tsujimoto is the lead director. He's directed for the series since Ultraman X, but this is his biggest assignment to date.

After beginning to release select Movie Monster Series figures in the States, Bandai America is now fully back in the Godzilla game, with articulated figures, 5-inch vinyls, blind box figures, and transforming eggs all up for preorder at the Godzilla Store and other toy sites. The eggs come from the 2014 Godzilla-E.G. line and the rest is all-new. Not much of a selection so far, but with how big Godzilla is right now, I'm sure there'll be more to come.

SRS Cinema has opened preorders for its War of the Ninja Monsters: Jaron vs. Goura Blu-ray, due in late July or August. Shinpei Hayashiya's latest epic, it'll come with behind-the-scenes footage and maybe a commentary track, which would be nice given how little information is available about his films online.

Arc: From a fissure where the Monohorn had been, a cocoon of sorts falls. Ban announces that, after 10 days with no sign of Onyx readings, Ishido will be returning to the Space Science Division. The morning of Ishido's last day Yuma tries to get to know him better while he can, asking why he joined Space Science, Yuma in turn explains he chose SKIP over GDF to try and prevent casualties. They're alerted to a situation, campers at Sorajima Campground inexplicably terrified. YouPi is already in the scene, Yuma heads to join him, Ishido insists on assisting too. Searching, Yuma, YouPi and Ishido find the man who reported the incident now also terrified, before a light suddenly appears, Ishido shields Yuma and experiences a nightmare of being cast aside by SKIP, coming to his senses they both spot the ghostly Kaiju, but their attacks are ineffective, as are it's, the hooded figure secretly watching produces a sound that seems to drive it off. At HQ they determine the light of the Kaiju causes fear reactions to immobilise prey, but then learn that the Kaiju, Mogusion, has now appeared more solid that before in the city. SKIP work to evacuate, but the GDF's missiles go straight through. In order to defend everyone Arc engages despite his attacks having no effect. The hooded man appears before Ishido, then leaps into the air and becomes a certain giant alien swordsman. He borrows the Arc Eye Blade to cause the resonance again, returning it both are now able to strike Mogusion. Just as they have it in a corner the Alien finds himself weakened, but Arc shatters a barrier to refracts Mogusion's beams away from them and cause it to be hit by it's own fear attack, allowing Arc to defeat it. Next day Yuma is surprised to find Ishido returning again, but with the current situation his superiors have extended his attachment. Admitting he used to believe Aliens were just a threat, he's come to see things through Yuma's eyes, and asks to be called Shu. The two are approached by the alien, Zangill, requesting to speak, as this earth is threatened by Hellnarak.

You have to understand, Lord Sunthraze Sunthraze, that is, the double Sunthraze heir, is my step sister's ex and the biggest mistake she ever made. Not because he is slightly an asshole. Not because he's a smartmouth or conceited. Lotsa male elves fall into that sorry golden slop bucket. It's because she missed out on that same swaggering, full-of-himself jackass. He's just as awful as she is, really. They've been repellin' each other, but they honestly need each other so much.

And, as Trixany's savvy Goblin step sista, I have to tell you--Sunthraze is loaded as well. Like, crazy rich Blood Elf loaded! Ever since the Third War, he came into stupid money, like stupid, the Scourge ate the rest of your relatives and half the town, and it's all been passed down to you money. Arthas practically blessed this poor boy on the head with Frostmourne.

Plus, he has the Hawkstrider ranch. Hawkstrider stock has skyrocketed since monohorns went extinct in Quel'thalas, after the conflict.

Only those two refuse to lay down their weapons, their awful personalities, and see sense. She wants fortune and fame, he has at least half that. Y'all could figure out the rest--come on, people!

Put it this way. Their crazy, coocoo bananas marriage would've been the one Haris Pilton Entertainment Corp reality show that should've been made. Entertaining, egregious, endearing, effed up, all the best E words.

"Well! It's so funny seeing you here!" He said, just beaming as he strolled into my office. Three-piece phoenix red suit. Platinum pinky ring. Frilly sleeves. Gilded, two-inch heels on his scarlet riding boots. A Rivendell inspired man-tiara, made by elves not even in this universe. I kid you not.

"Well, I work here. My name's on the side of the building. Goblin Airborne Clinic, 64th Regiment."

"I'd say you're on the directory, near the buzzer to get in."

Ass. I didn't say that, though. "Look, can I help you?"

"What I meant was, I was looking for an um, well... therapist-sort. And here you are! You just happen to be Trixany's best friend, too. Her closest confidant. You two are always together, aren't you? Happy coincidence!"

"I'm her sister."

"You... wait." His eyes glazed over.

Fun to watch him suffer due to his own prejudices. But then I finally nudged him off the hook. "Step sista, by marriage? My goblin father married her Blood Elf mother. That was after we were born. We met as teenagers."

"Hrmm..."

"Hrm?"

"So if. If I were to go through with... I'd be related to goblins."

"Go through with what?"

He sat down and looked half-wild. His eyes were bright, he gripped the chair arms until his knuckles went white.

Then, through clenched teeth, "I've got to do this. I just have to! She's been driving me crazy all these years!"

Do? I started to suspect what. I sighed, handed him a confidentiality agreement that he signed, then I flipped it around and signed it, too. Stamped it, filed it.

"Go on, get it off your chest."

"This year, my new year's resolution is to finally marry your sister!!"

"Ho boy." I had to take that in. It took a while. "She doesn't know? It doesn't work like that; you have to ask her, first."

"I will ask her first in hell! Do you know what she'd do to me if I ever asked her outright? Or attempted to court her in some straightforward fashion? Again?! Oh no, that is just what she wants! To drag me through it. I need a strategy, something I've never tried before. And you're going to help me. I signed the paper, didn't I? And, I paid. At the front desk! I paid a ransom, a king's ransom for your unique consult."

I blinked. I stared.

"Well?"

"May I ask, if you despise dealing with my sista so much, why do you want to marry her?"

"That would take a whole other session to explain but I... Well. We survived a war together, in Outland." He paused, his tone softened, "I think she's lovely. I truly miss her. And, I suppose I hurt her. Or, I hurt her after she hurt me... Anyway, I'd like another chance. A last chance. Even if I have to hogtie her and throw her over the pommel of my Thalassian Charger to make her at least hear me out!" He chewed his nails, looking feral again, "Lady Liadrin also has a spare cell down at the garrison, if need be. I could get the key..."

That went so well till the end there. Blood Knights freak me out, man.

"Look. I will take your money and betray my sista on one condition, cause we could use the ratings... You need to make this the funniest, craziest thing we have eva done here, on Team Trixany."

Sunthraze winked right at the camera, smized straight down the lens. Master fourth-wall breaking bastard that he is. Then he shrugged slightly, relaxed. Began to undo his silk tie, unbutton his shirt collar. "I can uh, make it spicy, too."

I folded my green hands ontop of my desk, "And otha than the ratings, I guess I just want you to take her far, far away from me. At least for a while. I would like a peaceful, drama-free year, myself. A year free of Haris Pilton and Night Elf himbos. I really have been dreaming of it. Maybe it could even become my show after a while. Team Coco! Can you do that?"

Sunthraze was busy flouncing his long, blood-red hair, flirting with the camera.

Eh, I didn't stop him. It's a thousand gold an hour for a goblin airborne consult, and as I said before, this redheaded mook is loaded!

🤔 so unicorns went extinct because...................their fluids have some kind of medicinal properties and people didnt manage the resource properly? And then what, maybe they ground up and ate all the bones 🤷 maybe it was always an extremely limited number of like, some kind of horselike goat with a monohorn? a heavily engineered/domesticated species to begin with, essentially extinct in the wild as soon as their one breeding population was disrupted for trade in exotic animals/animal parts

Major Spoilers for Arc ep 24 and 25

So since the ep previews dropped, this has been going around

So it turns out that in ep 24, Arc tells Yuma that everything that happened in the past 16 years (since K-Day?) was actually all but a dream

And it turns out that this dream was specifically created by Gillbug

(Which is why his title on his UMS release is the "Dream Kaiju")

But Sweed is real tho, and once Arc and Yuma break free of Gillbug's dream control, Sweed herself decides to step in (which ties in to the previous rumor that Sweed has a form that's a mix between an Ultra and a Mech)

So bascially everything that happened was literally, truly, all Yuma's imagination

Which meant that none of Arc's form and armors are actually real, none of the kaiju, and none of the events actually happened

So King of Mons and the Blazar crossover technically didn't happen? So basically non canon?

Idk if this can be used to simply wave away the trashy aspects of some episodes like the crossover, the forgottoen Ooze parasite subplot and what's the point of the Monohorn etc since it all technically didn't happen which can be used to explain why it was so poorly constructed, just like how dreams are most oftenly

But this would also explain some weird parts of the main plot like the Galaxy Armor drawing appearing outta nowhere in the sketchbook when Solis and Luna Armor was given a backstory and had already existed prior, as well as Sweed literally just taking Galaxer Finalize for no reason.

Also, it's probably why Rutian was silent throughout most of the series, since basically nothing is real. Hell, Yuma constantly seeing him in mirrors and reflections might actually symbolise the fact that Yuma himself is the one on the other end of the mirror, on the other end of "reality" itself. And Arc was trying to reach out to Yuma, who was trapped in his own imagination

A key question is tho, was Yuma put in a dream the moment Arc bonded with him after he defeated Monogelos? Is Yuma's parents still alive then? Additionally, so is Yuma technically still a kid so the past 16 years happened in an instant? Or has he really just been in a coma for the past 16 years?

AND IS BIORNO EVEN REAL???

Truly the same situation as was for Seven's Superior, tho in this case, its most likely not as i also found it weird why Rutian didnt interact with him either, Rutian himself probably found it meaningless to interact with yet another figment of Yuma's imagination

So many questions

Definitely a very shocking revelation for the last 2 eps and definitely a very shocking twist in the theme of this series, being "Imagination", since the past 16 years all literally happened only in Yuma's head
