I love how in S4 they were Very Obviously foreshadowing Monkey King being MK’s dad with the whole “he’s not my dad!” and obviously the scroll and that master guy giving him visions of Monkey King at his egg, and doing the whole “why are YOU of all people his successor” and then just. Ditching it. No Actually ☝️ some goddess lady is MK’s mom! They just totally ditched the Dad Wukong plot line for some insane reason and honestly I stand by it

I finally had the time to sit down and watch lmk season 5! And I'm I loved it guys like the angst. The emotion and the animation were so much better than expected! I was really worried how it would be with the animators being but on such tight deadlines! But I loved it sm and expect more content of these guys soon >:]

I was gonna ask more about the AU where MK turns into a big apider thingy like inkMK in S4 that you drew, I thought it was really cool and probably could be used for a lot of angst with the rest of the cast

Oh it’s part of an au I made when I was peak dehydrated and starved for LMK during the S4 hiatus

Basically at the end of S5 instead of going back and using the stones with everyone, MK uses the stones and basically rewrites the world to be perfect and erases everyone’s memories of the old world so they can live a perfect life. The decision to do that was horrible tho cause it’s breaking MK down physically and mentally like it did to Azure

Lego Monkie Kid s5 Spoilers Ahead

Just got done finally watching episodes 1-3 of this show and my face hurts from how much I was grinning because what./POS

I don't even know where to start for this season because it's legit everything I ever wanted to happen in this show or hell in any show in GENERAL but like Wukong being the first to hug someone, Mk of all people, becAUSE THEY REBUILT HIS HOUSE SOBBING ON THE GROUND

PIGSY BEING A DAD PUTTING HIS SON TO BED AND SAYING HE LOVES MK AND ALL THE TIMES THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT THE PAST AND THE CHARACTERS ARE ALL DEVELOPING

THE CROWN COMING BACK. THE VISION OF. WHAT MK'S SACRIFICE OR SOMETHING???. WUKONG ACTIVELY TRYING TO MAKE UP FOR LOST TIME WITH MK (AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT IT SEEMS LIKE RIGHT NOW BECAUSE HE KEEPS TAKING OFF WITH HIM WITHOUT THE OTHERS LIKE AAUGHHH) BUT ALSO HAVING CHOSEN HIM???? WHAT?? HUH????? HELLO?????? MACAQUE AND WUKONG CONSTANTLY FIGHTING AND SANDY GOING "✨ our monkiees✨" WHEN THEY COME OUT OF THE WALL AT THE END *DIES*

I will admit there is a very huge difference in the animation, much more than I thought I'd notice but not only is it getting better as the show goes on but we're getting used to it like I knew we would, there's still lots of the same charm and care from the other seasons so yee lolol

Other than that though I am once again going UP the walls I am loving how much of Wukong we're finally getting after being nuked and all that I'm just. I'm so excited (AND SCARED) to find out what's coming next *curls into a ball*/pos

ok so I’m sitting in a dentist office CRYING over s5 Like i need help lol

but anyways this season, as many problems it may have (being rushed and the animation change) is extremely well written imo like—

I’m a pessimistic guy and I tend to have pretty nihilistic beliefs but HOLY PISS THIS SEASON LIKE CHANGED ME

the central theme that yes, life is messy and even if there is technically no meaning to any of it and even if everything ends in pain, the choice to live and love is worth more than the choice to give up and accept fate.

JESUS CHRIST THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD

When I first watched the show, my initial thought were

I was wondering if you had any headacanons for Xiangliu or any interp ideas? I was hoping to write this in anonymously but yeah! I was curious about your ideas for him or what you think his impact to the next season will be 👉👈 He didn't feel like a filler villain for me because this season was heavy on the life cycles and the disruption of it and I've seen a couple people reference his story as the origin of Plato's Allegory. I think if the last life cycle was JTTW then he must've been from one previous to that one with Wukong and maybe the original brotherhood or with the original JTTW group..? I'm unsure! It's fun to speculate though

hooo boy i had to really sit down and think about this one because i did not like the theme they had going on for this season... spoilers ahead for those of you who haven't watching LMK S5 yet

So Xiangliu is interesting to me because he first appears in Shanhaijing, an older classical chinese mythology book. He doesn't really appear in JTTW at all? The only nine-headed beasts we get are the Dragon King's son in law and a nine-headed lion. So they essentially plucked him from another mythology book which is interesting to me because at least Nuwa appears in Investiture of the Gods which serves as a nice little "sequel" to JTTW.

Anyways.

He really didn't feel like a filler villain but he suffers the same effect as Azure Lion where we get quickly introduced to his character and then he's gone. And we get like, what?, one or two little tidbits about him and that he's involved with Chaos but Chaos is evil and apparently might be Pangu but that'd be a little fucking insane and fuck with my head as a mythology loving nerd - it's a weird little thign to introduce a character so quickly and then have him vanish before we even learn what his favorite color is.

if he does come back for s6 i think it'd a waste though considering he seemed pretty... complete? he went back to the chaos (?) and was satisfied with his ending so?? gg?

I also don't like the western ideas being thrown into a show that centers on Chinese mythology but hey the show was animated by an australian company and then passed on to a canadian company so sure whatever. I also don't like the fact they make this out to be a repeating cycle because that's... that kind of defeats the purpose of JTTW to me? I understand that JTTW has so many iterations and interpretations and different ways to go about it (this is why there's so many movies, shows, series, etc.) but to have it be an actual thing in the canon of Monkie Kid feeeeels... off?

You mean to tell me SWK goes through getting bashed by a group of people over and over again? And he doesn't remember it? no one remembers it? that's a little fucked up (and i do not like how they had nuwa be the one to start said cycle because wtf) i mean it could be fun!! just the way it was executed felt rather rushed and a little bit... empty? idk how to describe it

TLDR; Xiangliu was an interesting character but due to poor execution and the rapid way he was handled I cannot form a proper opinion on him it's like asking me to try and describe a flavor of ice cream i've only had a spoonful of once 10 months ago
