HI ok I gotta ask - your post has made me insanely curious - you mention having cash at hand while waiting for your new card (resourceful) but none of the sources of cash was a bank or ATM.
Where I'm from cash is still used a lot (as we minimum wage workers get paid in cash) and as a result there are multiple ATM's within walking distance at all times and banks no more than 15-20 minutes drive away. Is this... different where you're from? (For context I'm from Africa)
We get paychecks directly to the bank account here, and I usually just pay with my card everywhere I need to, because it's more convenient than having a lot of coins and bills around. While there are ATM machines here (there are several within a walking distance from where I live), you use them with your card, so without having one, I can't get money out of the money withdrawing machine. I don't know how you do it, but without a card I can only get money out of the bank account by (online) bank transfers, and that's pretty hard at grocery store register.
Our bank offices stopped handing out cash several years ago, of which I am still very salty about.
I got some cash from my mom, and I had a handful of coins left over from the last time I had used an ATM a while back, but that's kinda rare for me, since most places accept card.

The Pokemon HOME app limiting random features and information to either the mobile or console versions is SO clunky and annoying.
My goal: to check which of my favorite Pokemon and shinies stored in HOME don't have the Paldea Champion Ribbon yet, so I can bring those into Scarlet and get it for them. But! You can only view what ribbons a Pokemon has on the mobile version of the software! And you can't move Pokemon to your switch games from mobile!!! So you have to:
quit out of the console app, if you opened it already because you thought this would be a relatively simple task
open the app on mobile
manually document which Pokemon don't have the ribbon- like, on a piece of paper or something
close the mobile app (you can't have both versions of the app open simultaneously)
open the app on console
move them from HOME into Scarlet, referring to aforementioned list
Now you might say "There is a custom tag feature in Pokemon HOME! You could apply a tag to the Pokemon you plan to move instead of making a physical note on a piece of paper!" But unfortunately, the only aspect of the tag you can see on the console version is the color- the name of the tag isn't visible. and I'm already using every color of tag available
(also: you can only make and apply tags on mobile. other mobile exclusive things: wonder trade and gts, viewing 90% of achievements, viewing models, switching between a pokemon's stats for different games it can go in without switching what game you're planning on moving things between)

something that i think is important to remember in life is that you don't have to do everything in every space, and not doing something in one space doesn't mean you don't care about it or that you're not doing it elsewhere
with the recent rise in fake donation asks etc i have reasserted to myself my blanket policy of not engaging with fundraising/charity on tumblr specifically. that doesn't mean i don't donate money. it just means i don't do it via or because of tumblr: i choose charities or donation drives based on other sources. i don't respond to donation asks or posts here because the way i use this site is not compatible with meaningfully vetting or engaging with them
it is a lot easier to have a blanket policy than to make individual exceptions all the time and it is a lot easier to deal with the guilt-tripping when i remember that not doing it on tumblr doesn't mean not doing it at all

phone got bricked 😔 was on tumblr, as one does, and the phone decided to reboot itself which, usually, not a problem! you do you! but now it's stuck in the not-off-but-not-rebooted-yet logo screen phase and none of the various fixes worked so far hskjhkjhadk not even safe mode turn on, that one gets stuck too. the last fix is "drain the battery and hope for the best" so i guess imma try that??? and go to phone repair shop if that doesnt work

Actually that makes me wonder. Do people commonly get their phones fixed, when they slow down due to aging, their battery being permanently drained, screens cracked etc? Because most people I know at that point just buy a new one... Its so fucked up that I'm so used to this, like genuinely. My friends would look at me like I was crazy, when I was fixing my own screen with my last phone for literally the 5th time, they would say like "at this point don't u just wanna get a new one?"... Why are we as society now so ready to throw technology out instead of giving it a second chance? And I'm absolutely guilty of it too, myself, because I secretly long for a new laptop even though it's SO much more expensive than buying new battery + ssd disc + extra ram sticks.... Just like. Eugh
