An alteration in his expression she couldn't read. Anger? Hurt? All he said was, “I don’t want to...” Before she could decipher his words, the waves began to slosh violently before them, attracting her attention.
“Here she comes,” came Raiden's exasperated voice drowned out as a creature rose from the depths.

“I am doing no such thing.”

“Yet I hear Little Song speaks her mind so loudly against you. I had to come and see.”
The Gyarados leaned in to brush her snout against Mariko's, “Little Song,” she murmured. Sounds of happiness as the two nuzzled each other.

"Mo'o! You came to check on things?"

"I came due to disturbance of the waters... only to see your brother's temper was the source of it."
For the time being, Mo'o is available for questioning!

(This creature is directly inspired from Hawaiian Mythology)
The Mo’o are a rare reptilian shifter race, isolated to a few volcanic islands amongst the Ocean, some believe they are actually a sort of dwarf island dragon, but they lack the wings of other Draconic species. In their true form they appear to be a Gecko-like semiaquatic Lizard with shiny black scales that resemble obsidian and have a deadly corrosive gas breath that can burn into stone and metal let alone flesh but becomes a poisonous murk when released in the water. All true Mo’o are Female and have the ability to shift into a mostly Human-like form that bears a few reptilian features like eyes, scattered scales, and their tail. No matter your leaning towards the appearance to scaly ladies their natural pheromones make them nearly irresistible to humans who they desire to mate with.
Thanks to the isolation of their islands Mo’o sightings are few and often unsubstantiated, many folk often mistake them for a common lizard-folk or a Yuan-Ti, but because they can’t rely on men always coming to them sometimes a Mo-o matriarch will swim to the mainland once to mate or kidnap men with their seductive abilities and take them home to serve as male concubines.
A Mo’o Matriarch will lay many eggs but very few of them will be another true Mo’o keeping their numbers purposefully restricted because Mo’o tend to be territorial to one another and sisters may fight among one another over land, and control over servants. The rest of the eggs laid by a Mo’o are worker drones sometimes nicknamed Mo’obolds.
(Stat Sheet will be available soon once I have established a means to purchase it)

Here's a reference sheet I finished back in April, even though her role is just to be a boss fight.
She is standing at a standard height of 231cm, capable of spewing a breath to poison and confuse foes in a drunken daze. This is where all the spice went. Hopefully I'm not moidered for this.
I created Nahesa after learning about what mo'os actually are in Polynesian/Hawaiian mythology, thank you Lockstin. They aren't dragons, they're just sexy, shape-shifting gecko spirits (usually female, but Wikipedia does list a male individual. There is probably more, but I wouldn't know. I'd actually be happy to learn more about them if anyone has info to share).
And yes, she's designed after Salazzle, I couldn't not, black scales n'all, poison too.
Question for those who know the mythology better than I, how'd I do in making this mo'o?

Mo'o are female shapeshifters that appear as beautiful maidens or water dragons. The live in caves and ponds to guard freshwater sources. They are omniscient and have immense powers — which can be used for good or bad. If you respect the land, the Mo'o might bless you with abundence of food and water, but if you disrespect the land, they might wreak havoc. When a Mo'o is slain, its body becomes part of the landscape in the form of mountains and islets.

Elucea: So . . . like an Elf or other Fae being in my books.
Nitäl: They're usually the offspring of a God, like your children, though usually with a mortal -
Elucea: Wait so even they're real?
Nitäl: Why wouldn't they be? Now I don't know how it's going to be for your children, if they're Gods in their own right, children between Born Gods is not generally heard of. I'm actually surprised that you are one, though your soul . . . or you rather, are the reborn daughter of Kihawahine, since as far as I know she has not died to pass the title down, though being a Mo'o, or Dragon Spirit, would make you a God to some. Though you already know all this, since you've done enough research to know about Kan, I'm assuming you've done the research on yourself as well, you just came here for a bit of confirmation, clarity.

Note
Do the dragons only use their magic for flight? Or are there other uses?
Magic to Produce Heat
Some dragons use it for thermoregulation! This is because I based dragon's biological magic on heat generation in brown adipose tissue, so to edit magic-producing-adipose tissue to heat-producing-adipose tissue again is a small change. Note: dragon magical adipose tissues DID NOT evolve from brown adipose tissues, as dragons in Dracones Mundi are NOT related to mammals. This is convergent evolution, different groups of animals evolving similar things.
Dragons which use magic for warmth = ice dragons, tizheruk, louhikäärme, angont, the Antarctic jaculus
Magic to feed symbiotic bacteria
Tissues inside the mouth and throat produce magic to excite bacteria which lives in the dragon's mouth. These bacteria feed on the magical energy and glow in response, giving the dragons a very badass glow. Usually fire-orange, but sometimes a ghostly blue for some species!
Fire dragon glow = firedrakes, firethroat dragons, long, azi, glowtails, flaming serpents
Blue dragon glow = ice dragons, snapdragons
Magic as Glamour/disguise?
I am not 100% certain if this is canon, I keep changing my mind, but some dragons may look like other things = the cockatrice (chicken), glowtails (chicken), mo'o (human), green wyverns/vouivre (human). Currently this is NOT CANON because I think the dragon designs work better without glamour mimicry. But I am mentioning this here in case I want to bring back magical chicken dragons.
...and that's it!
In Dracones Mundi dragons are animals, and they only really use enough magic to let them do their animal behaviours. I don't envision them doing more complex magic or devising spells, and most animal behaviours just evolve with physical anatomy and physiology, no magic needed!

Legendary Creatures: Dragons
Tumblr media
By Allie_Caulfield from Germany - 2012-10-10 10-13 Berlin 313 Pergamon Museum, Ischtar Tor, DetailUploaded by FunkMonk, CC BY 2.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=22769614
Dragons are possibly the most popular and most widespread legendary creature in the world. Their exact shape varies from culture to culture, but all agree that they are serpent-like creatures. The oldest creation stories we have records of have a storm or sky god slaying a dragon representing chaos to create the world. Their mythology spans from Egypt through Europe and Asia, with related creatures being found in the Americas, Africa, and Oceania. Dragons have continued to fascinate people through history to the modern day.

There is a study that shows about 39% of people are afraid of snakes, with that fear especially prominent in children, even if they live in areas where snakes are rare. It's thought that this fear is the origin of dragons since the oldest stories have dragons that more closely resemble snakes. The fear of dark caves, deep pools, wild mountains, sea bottoms, and haunted forests-all logical things for early humans to fear-may have given dragons their lairs. Another theory is that the discovery of dinosaur bones, many with their very long spines and large bones, may have given rise to dragons or perhaps have explained their acquisition of legs and wings.
Tumblr media
Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/coolguides/comments/f5wski/dragon_classification/
Dragons have many forms and many names. One way to differentiate them is by the number of limbs, between zero and six, whether they have wings or not, whether or not they can fly. Dragons can be associated with any of the classical elements (earth, air/wind, fire, water) or transient phenomenon, like lightning or thunder or even rainbows. Whether they are good or bad depends on the culture and the treatment they receive from people. While all are large for serpents, they range in size from those that will fit inside a house, to those that live in mountains and even the deep currents of the ocean.

Some of the myths about dragons include:
Apep or Apophis, an underworld serpent, and the Ouroborus in Ancient Egyptian mythology
Aido Wedo, The Rainbow Serpent of the Fon people
Masingi, a healer who lives in clean houses, of the Tsonga people
Kirimu, a large animal with a black hide, teeth like a dog, a huge belly, an eagle's tail, and seven horned heads that has a blood pact with the lightning god
Tiamat, a primordial sea goddess from Babylonian mythology
Leviatin, a sea monster from Jewish mythology
Nāga, one of several serpentine dragons from Hinduism which spread through Southeast Asia as the Naga or Nogo
Láwû, from the Kapampangan mythology of the Philippines, which caused lunar eclipses by eating the moon
Rồng or Long, from Vietnam, which was a water deity
Lóng, from Chinese mythology, perhaps the most recognized Asian dragon with many variations in body type, but generally long bodied
Ryū, the Japanese version of the Chinese dragon, generally benevolent water spirits
Yilbegän, the Siberian Turkic, Tartar, and Slavic dragon, a many-headed man eating monster
Horned Serpent, One of the more common representations in Native American mythologies, especially in the Southeast woodlands
Quetzalcoatl, a feathered serpent of the Aztec who was god of light, day, wisdom, and the winds and Ruler of the West, spreading to the Maya as K'uk'ulkan and to the K'ichi' as Q'uq'umatz
Amaru, a chimeric dragon of Incan mythology with multiple heads, though likely predates the Inca
Mo'o, the shape-shifting lizard of the Hawaiian people
Taniwha, Māori dragons that live in deep waters and caves or in the sea, especially with dangerous currents or deceptive breakers
Bolla, a serpentine dragon of the Albanian people that sleeps through the year except for St. George's Day and becomes a Kulshedra in its twelfth year, a hydra-like creature
Y Ddraig Goch, one of two dragons, red and white, that King Vortigern witnessed fighting and Merlin foretold the red one, representing the Welsh people, would defeat the white, representing the Saxon people
Sárkány, human-shaped dragons, most giants with multiple heads, who lose strength as they lose heads
Cuélebre, Asturian and Leonese giant winged serpents that live in caves with treasure and kidnapped xanas, which are beautiful women who live in various water features, and was a maiden cursed into that form

hello again! i'm back with more questions this time >:] sorry if these are too many questions at once
1. would Percy play any games with lighter horror even if it's a more story-driven game? or is it an absolutely not for all horror?
2. do any of the characters have pets at home or had pets in the past?
3. this is just a guess based on their color palettes (and maybe a little the mc personalities in-game), but i'm guessing their favorite seasons are spring for Percy, winter for Jamie, and summer for Elio. am i right?
4. will there be partial voice acting throughout the game or will we only hear the characters' voices during voicecalls, like in the demo?
i'll probably be back if i can think of more questions lol
Oh please *cracks knuckles* I got all day! NOW LET'S GET CRACKING
Percy knows his limits. Gory games, he can stomach- he is studying in the medical field. But games that amp up the suspense, that wind you up and you can't tell when they're about to snip the tension-- yeah, he'd probably need one of the guys in the same room as him. He'd also commentate a lot or ask them questions so he can distract himself from the dread. Otherwise, if the game doesn't have a compelling enough story, he won't touch it haha
Jamie had a lot of pets! I can't tell you specifics, but he does love animals and he has one waiting for him at home. Elio also has a pet waiting, a turtle called Mo'o. She fits in his hand though and so he likes to put her on his head. Everyone else doesn't have one and never owned any pets before. Cameron would want to, though, but they're not allowed to bring any animals in the house hahhh
Oh, favorite seasons like in terms of the weather? If it's weather, Percy likes the Winter actually! He's a walking heater so he thrives in colder climates, plus he likes the snow a lot. Jamie adores Spring for the flowers, how pretty the world is, and nature walks. And Elio... well, it's hard. He grew up in warm climates where there's hardly a Winter, so snow and winter sports is incredible to him! But Summer's got his birthday and a long break from school. But Fall's peak cozy vibes and the temperature's always nice. But Spring is when festivals start and the flowers are in bloom... Yeah, he wouldn't be able to decide. If we're talking about in-game personalities though, the guys wouldn't have any favorites. There are season types that they seemingly click with more easily because they're reflections of themselves but that's how it is when you find someone who's just like you. Otherwise, there are no bias between personalities.
There will be partial voice acting! I was actually supposed to add them into the demo but it was more important to me that we have a demo for the jam haha. But yeah, they would be in the rest of the game.

Mo'o
Dragon Claw
Aqua Tail
Dragon Dance
Whirlpool
Mo’o of the island, guardian of the two wayward souls that have stumbled their way onto her island.
The ocean rises to a single digit of her claws, and water tempers off into an elegant flow upon her face into slender whiskers.
A beast of the sea and she has taken an interest in the young storm; she teaches him all she knows.

LoZ: Wild - More Meat Variety
Should the Wild Series have used a greater variety of meat to create a more expansive & complex culinary list?
It's possible that it could be this way due to how Link perceives meat in-general. Like, he just personally doesn't see a reason to differentiate between different kinds of meats.
Anyway, these are some of my ideas for the kinds of meats Nintendo could've used.
Poultry:
Cucco Drumstick = The drumstick of a Cucco.
- Cucco Thigh = The thigh of a Cucco.
- Whole Cucco = A whole Cucco.
White Drumstick = The drumstick of a Bright-Crest Duck, a Crown-Crested Swan, or a Heron.
- White Thigh = The thigh of a Bright-Crest Duck, a Crown-Crested Swan, or a Heron.
- Whole White = A whole Bright-Crest Duck, Crown-Crested Swan, or Heron.
Squab = The meat of a Sparrow, a Pigeon, a Seagull, or a Marriage Dove. (Though, it's illegal to kill Marriage Doves as it's said to curse one to never find love; you always get 2 from them, but why the hell would you do that, you monster?!)
Raptor = The meat of an Islander Hawk, an Owl, a Mountain Crow, or a Wastes Vulture.
Autruche = The meat of an Eldin, Forest, or Dunerunner Ostrich. Considered a red meat as it is very beefy.
Other Meats:
Pork = Meat from a Shroom-Snout Swine or Woodland, Red-Tusked, or War Boar.
Beef = Meat from a Hateno Cow, Tabanthan Ox, Water Buffalo, or Highland Yak.
Venison = Meat from a Mountain Deer. Wild game. Comes from the ancient Hyrulean word venatus meaning "to hunt."
- Prime Venison = The meat from a Grizzlemaw or Honeyvore Bear.
- Gourmet Venison = The meat from a Tabantha Moose.
Mutton = The meat of a Highland or Bighorn Sheep.
Chevon = Meat from a White, Mountain, or Ordon Goat.
Leup = The meat of a Maraudo or Cold-Footed Wolf or a Wasteland Coyote.
Vulp = The meat of a Grassland, Snowcoat, or Dusttail Fox.
Gammon = The meat of a Bushy-Tailed Squirrel, Meadow or Snowdrift Rabbit, a Wasteland Hare, or a Jackalope.
Serpe = The meat of a Treetop Boa, which lives in the Faron Jungle. The Sheikah refer to it as Kozue Boahebi Niku (梢ボアヘビ肉, Treetop Boa Snake Meat). But Lurelin natives call it Ēulu Mo'o Wili Ai.
Rangpar = The meat of a large reptile, such as Goponga Alligator or Faron Crocodile. A white meat that has a texture like a mix between fish & poultry with a slightly Cucco-like flavor. Called Kelokokile Ai by the residents of Lurelin.
Monster Meats:
Grangirino = The meat of a Little Frox. Only found in the Depths. Named by Mogma.
- Granfibio = The meat of a Frox. Only found in the Depths. Named by Mogma.
- Obsidian Granfibio = The meat of an Obsidian Frox. Considered to be the underground's equivalent to prime meat. Only found in the Depths. Named by Mogma.
- Blue-White Granfibio = The meat of a Blue-White Frox. Essentially gourmet meat in the underground. Only found in the Depths. Named by Mogma.
For a better understanding of what these animals are, go to my Extended Beastiary.

A while ago I read Hawaiian Mythology by Martha Beckwith and I was thinking about how interested I was in the myths about Pele and Hi'iaka and the potential they could have for a powerful retelling as opposed to yet another Greek mythology one. Now I'm only going off this book and I'm not Hawaiian myself so I won't say I'm an expert, just want to respectfully describe some of the ideas I had.
I feel like there's potential for a retelling to focus on how the family are immigrants and refugees, with Pele as the glorious older sister with a big, dominating personality who led her family through so many hardships. And I think it's interesting to read her as not just jealous and suspicious because women will always be jealous of their partner having affairs or whatever, but as someone who takes an attitude of paranoia and suspicion because she really has had the world against her for her whole life - in some versions of the myths being chased and pursued by her sister and having to protect her younger siblings as they try to find a new home, and challenged by the other gods for taking a mortal lover.
And then there is Hi'iaka, who I find fascinating because on the one hand she is clearly capable of the most profound and beautiful artistic expressions of emotion, being the goddess of hula dancing who inspires those expressions of dance in other people. And yet I think it's easy to read her as someone who suppresses that in herself because she feels one has to "earn" the ability to express and act on one's feelings, someone dominated by her sister's forceful passion but feeling like Pele has a right to be like that because she worked hard to protect their whole family and earn their place as gods, while she herself... she's just the baby sister, the baby (egg) under Pele's arm who has taken and not given. Unearned emotions are pathetic. And it's a standard she harshly holds other people to as well as herself - there's a line in the Beckwith book that describes how she mocks women who are grieving their husbands being killed by mo'o as being pointlessly hysterical. Those are just weak mortals, even as she will put up with her sister having such a short fuse for far more trivial matters.
So she ends up having the classic epic heroic quest, but unlike most myths it's not for anything she desires herself but for a favor for her sister, acting as a tool for her with her considerable talents, and even still, after all of that, she gets falsely blamed for taking Lohiau for herself (who she does love but denies herself even when she has many opportunities). And I feel reading her like this makes the climax of the story so powerful, as realizing she will be blamed and mistreated no matter what she does, her best friend killed and the world burning around her, she finally admits her love and passion.
I just think it would be really cool if a retelling interpreting the myth along these lines was written, so I wanted to share my thoughts if anyone was interested!
