1. I love Sabo's new VA
2. I didn't even realise he's Haku from Spirited Away and Syaoran from Tsubasa Chronicle before looking up his Wikipedia article (I mean it makes sense, he isn't a teenager anymore and he's playing an adult character, of course he sounds different)
3. I can't believe they managed to find someone to play Sabo whose given name is literally written like the word "freedom" (自由), that's almost too on the nose lmao

Finally, one of the main characters, the voice actor for Wakamiya/Nazukihiko, Miyu Irino, has chosen his favourite scene. It is from the fourth episode, “The Imperial Council.”
Tumblr media
I think the relationship between Yukiya and Wakamiya is an important element for the Yatagarasu series.
Even during the audition, I acted out the following line:
“You will never betray me. (Why? Because I doubt my enemies can offer you anything you would value more than the trust I place in you.)”
It's an important scene in the future development of the series.
Please remember this exchange!
After Wakamiya has uttered these words, it feels like a salve, an ointment, to Yukiya’s sense of self. He, a 13-year-old boy, who is struggling to be recognised through his ability, his character, his own merit not through his bloodline. Somehow, he was easy to be persuaded, or to be impressed with Wakamiya’s words on this scene. Can’t blame him, he might have a “rotten personality” (per manga*Wakamiya’s words) but he’s still a teenager, younger than the crown prince. Remember when Yukiya felt disappointed and betrayed on Episode 11: “The Loyal Retainer”?
“You made me sound so special.”
That’s also the reason Yukiya behaves that way on episode 14 when meeting Sumimaru. He knows darn well Wakamiya’s schtick all along.
Definitely, a good choice as this has become one of the turning points of their relationship, the so-called next chapter. It shows how adamant Wakamiya is to bring Yukiya to his side.
“Please remember this exchange!” Of course, I will. Will certainly looking forward to the upcoming episodes.

Japanese voice actor Miyu Irino (Sora in Kingdom Hearts franchise, Kōshi Sugawara in Haikyu!!, Ritsu Kageyama in Mob Psycho 100) took over the role of Sabo in the One Piece anime starting with episode 1116.
Voice actor Tōru Furuya stepped down from the roles of Sabo in One Piece and Tōru Amuro in the Detective Conan in June 2024, after Furuya acknowledged a May 2024 report by the Weekly Bunshun magazine regarding an affair he had with a fan.

Every time I see Miyu and Ucchi together I'm always reminded of that one time Ucchi says as long as he has Miyu, everything would be fine. And I just think that's precious

Things About JPN Sora (Kingdom Hearts)
When it comes to referring to others Sora has a few ways going about it. He often refers to others by their names.. You can only imagine the many more amount of times he’s said Riku or Kairi’s name in JPN lol
Or even just the amount of times Donald and Goofy is said by him
Sora’s a very boyish kind of guy, like very casual but not intentionally rude, and also kind of impressionable which is reflected in his speech
Uses ‘ore’ when referring to himself normally but used ‘boku’ once in KH1 while talking to Kairi
He’s the king of comedic timing and deadpan (courtesy of Miyu Irino), his tone and inflection are on point. (i.e. in KH3 when the gang get flung off the mountain in Arendelle once again and Sora’s tired of it. Both Miyu Irino and Haley Joel Osment’s deliveries for Sora’s frustration are amazing)
I think a lot of the awkward pauses found in ENG KH dialogue stems from the fact that we don’t usually make the same noises for affirmations, reactions, and the like. This is more of a general note rather than Sora-specific but JPN Sora does tend to do this
In Re:Coded, Data Sora refers to Data Roxas as ‘omae’ but in 3D, Sora refers to Roxas by name and ‘kimi’. For Re:Coded, my guess is that it’s because Sora didn’t know who he was and Roxas was antagonizing him
Less of a fun fact and more of a fangirl point but, have you heard him asking for one Baymax in JPN??? The way he just says “Just 1, just 1″ in the softest and excited voice!! He’s my precious son frfr ToT
AND HE DOES STUFF LIKE THAT SO OFTEN!! HE’S VERY CUTE YOUR HONOR
When Sora gets excited and happy, his voice tends to get higher pitched (Miyu Irino’s range is actually wild) and...not sure if this is the word I’m looking for, but squishy? I feel like Miyu Irino makes Sora squishy in a very endearing way lol

While I read that the next episode next week will be a special compilation, a recap, of all the things that happened (from episodes 1 to 13) complete with behind the scenes and the audio commentaries of the voice actors of Yukiya (Matsumi Tamura), Asebi (Rina Honnizumi) and Hamayu (Hiroki Nanami), I came across an article from NHK that came out early this month, an interview of Miyu Irino (Wakamiya/Nazukihiko) and Eiji Takeuchi (Sumio).
The recap, some people hate it bc it is a filler, I think, is necessary as it signals that we are probably going to move on to another arc. It means they will also possibly animate the other key points of the other volumes in the novel series.
Tumblr media
These are only excerpts. (Like always, a very rough translation.)
What kind of person was played for each role?
Irino Miyu (hereinafter referred to as Irino): Wakamiya is a mysterious man. I look beautiful and am smart, and I don't have any favourites. But I am also called "utsuke" (a fool) by the people around me. Wakamiya is a man who calculates that much that he's showing that he's a good person, or that, he thinks he can be.
Eiji Takeuchi (hereinafter referred to as Takeuchi): Sumio is a person that takes on the role of a "worker," who safeguards Wakamiya alone.
Irino: He’s the perfect person and a perfect escort for Wakamiya, so at first, it runs flawlessly with only these two people.
Takeuchi: Moreover, there is an underlying reason there is only one escort.
Irino: The only reliable person for Wakamiya is Sumio at the beginning, so when Yukiya comes in as Wakamiya’s new servant, a change in the dynamic is born.
How did Yukiya, who is both noisy and loving, capture the changes caused by his entry between these two?
Irino: I feel that Yukiya is the best partner for Wakamiya. Especially as the story progresses, Yukiya brings out the good in Wakamiya, and Wakamiya brings out the good points and potential parts of Yukiya. In the case of Wakamiya, it is while driving Yukiya into a rough pinch (laughs). I felt that it was interesting to play the way the good points were brought out by the synergistic effect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Takeuchi: From Sumio's point of view, I think he was very happy that Yukiya came. I think there was only one escort for Wakamiya, or rather, only one person could be placed. Meanwhile, Wakamiya recognises and trusts Yukiya's ability so much that he wants to install him as his kinju. On the other hand, I think Sumio was just happy, and considering that Yukiya is there too, Wakamiya doesn’t need to be the only one with Sumio, who is fine that Yukiya comes along too. Of course, he should be there as support for Yukiya.
Irino: Wakamiya and Sumio are the types who keep their thoughts to themselves with a reason, but Yukiya is the type who drives by his emotions.
Takeuchi: That's right, his position and personality are different from the two of us.
Irino: I'm excited to see the three of us becoming a team by making up for each other. I want you to look forward to this dynamic because it will also be an element that moves the story.
Irino: As the story progresses, all the characters will change more and more from the first impression. That's one of the charms of this story. Each relationship will change greatly, so I want you to look forward to that change. " This character was actually like this!?" It's full of it.
Takeuchi: From Sumio’s point of view, Wakamiya seems to be quite changing.
Irino: Really? Is that so? (lol)
Takeuchi: Especially when I see you interact with Yukiya. In the beginning, Wakamiya was only saying the facts, so if you say, ‘I won't change….’ Sumio is not the type to put out his thoughts, so I don't think you can feel much change, but please look forward to what will happen there on.
Today there are a couple of events before the 13th episode screening where the VAs of Yukiya, Matsuma Tamura, and Asebi are radio guests and Hamayu’s VA, Nanami, as a guest of Yuki Kaji for a radio play.
And yesterday they unveiled the first batch of merchandise!! Yayyayyyay!

If somebody is interested in buying my old seiyuu stuff let me know! We can calculate prices and shipping costs, I already anticipate that I will sell them at a very cheap price because I need space and I want some seiyuu fan to have them!
