Flower symbolism in Yuumori:

We all know that some characters have assigned flowers in the manga (Liam and Sherlock) and others in the anime (Louis, Albert and John), but I've never felt they're quite right. They seem a bit lackluster, so I tried to make my own list complete with meanings!

Liam: lilies. They symbolize purity, and are commonly a symbol of mourning, often found on gravestones of family members.

Albert: roses. They symbolize love, and the added touch of sub rosa interacts nicely with their goals.

Louis: azalea. As I've mentioned before, they symbolize family and unity, so it's only fitting they'd go to the one keeping the family together.

Moran: forget-me-not. They symbolize undying love and loyalty, and past memories. Very fitting for a soldier.

Fred: edelweiss. They symbolize courage and devotion, two things Fred has a lot of.

James: belladonna. Not only do they symbolize beauty and confidence, they were also used by cosmetics by victorian women.

Moneypenny: jasmine. They symbolize grace and elegance, and are both used in tea and perfumes, making it a nice touch for her.

Herder: periwinkle. They symbolize friendship and new begginings, both things he heavily desires, if we are to go by chapter 12.

Sherlock: iris. They symbolize strenght and intelligence, both things he has a surplus of, and also have the additional meaning of wisdom, which he acquired in NYC.

John: violet. They symbolize loyalty and hope, both of which are always fitting themes for any Watson of any media.

Miss Hudson: zinnia. They symbolize affection and absence, a way to show how much she missed her boy during the timeskip.

Mycroft: nasturtium. They symbolize patriotism and conquest. Only fitting for the Queen's right hand man, isn't it?

To be honest, when I first read mtp, I was 100% sure that Moneypenny's presence in the manga would end with her becoming a traitor

That whole conversation with Moran about the similarities between William and the duke (whatever his name was), who was responsible for the deaths of Moran's military friends and made an incredibly large contribution to the continuation of the war and colonization

She's an agent who works for a secret organization and is licensed to kill people (and actively does so), but it's clear that Liam and the idea of the Lord of Crime didn't appeal to her as much as the others. At first. It creeped her out.

And I know Albert mentioned that Moneypenny also took an oath to William. But, seriously, I wouldn't blame her if at one point she just said, "No, this is too much," and told EVERYTHING to... Lestrade, for example, idk.

I was sure that the public would learn everything from her

....

I think it's also because of the lack of information about her as a character and her motivation

1) Why did took an oath to William?

2) HOW did they even meet?

We know how the brothers ended up at this morality, Bond (/Irene), Moran, we can potentially imagine why Fred is there (he's an orphan, so the same repression as Liam&Louis, but he wasn't adopted by a rich family), Jack, even Paterson. BUT NOT HER

I want need her to start talking about her past.

Because, of course, it's NOT hard to imagine what a woman might not like about the British Empire. There must be more to it tho... there must have been something that made her become a soldier and an agent, and successfully go through all the sexism of the system without giving up

What's your favorite yuumori dynamic?

Personally, I'm still obsessed with Fred + anyone (I adore Fred), Louis and William's brotherly bond, and Moran and Bonde (they scratch my brain just right). I know almost everyone's obsessed with Sherliam (cause same), but they're like the OTP (platonically or romantically) yapping about them is inevitable. I want to dissect everyone else too, yk? But I'm curious what dynamics you like.

OH MY GOSH I'M SO HAPPY SOMEONE ASKED ME THIS!! OKAY SO JUST A HEADS UP IF YOU DIDNT LIKE.. READ THE MANGA (im sorry if this comes off as like rude or anything 😭) THERE'S A SMALL SPOILER ... also I yap a lot... so beware of my yap-itis

I have so, so many. I personally like seeing Fred and Sebastian togther because I love their little big brother, little brother dynamic SO, SO MUCH. I COULD YAP AND YAP AND GO ON FOR DAYS ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE IT. Another dynamic I really love is Bonde and Sebastian. I love how well they work together when it's needed. (Example being the Jack the Ripper case, and when Bonde had his little moment in the bank that left Sebastian shocked.) I also seriously love this one trio and it's Louis, Fred, and Sebastian. I love how in chapter 11 (YES, I LOVE THE HUNTING OF THE BASKERVILLE ARC SO SO MUCH, I HAVE THE CHAPTER NUMBERS MEMORIZED.) Anyway, I love how Sebastian just takes the role of big brother (yet again), and breaks up the little argument between Fred and Louis. It's funny, yet really shows how the characters interact with each other. I wish they animated that :(

AND THEN, ANOTHER ONE (yes another one), IS SEBASTIAN AND MONEYPENNY. I LOVE THEIR INTERACTION SO, SO MUCH. I PHYSICALLY SCREAM WHEN I RE-READ THE MANGA AND HIT THOSE CHAPTERS OF THEM INTERACTING WITH EACH OTHER. I'm still pissed about how they didn't animate the queen, Moneypenny.

So here's my timeline theory on when each of the crime gang met the Moriartys.

First, Jack Renfield, a short while after the events of chapter 1. This is pretty obvious since we see this in canon.

Next came Moran a few years later, as evidenced by William, who by then was a teenager.

Von Herder came along either shortly before or shortly after Moran. They knew each other prior to the formation of MI6, plus Herder was the one who designed Moran's rifle from chapter 3.

Fred was the next one to cross paths with them. The exact circumstances behind this first meeting are currently unknown, as of writing this post.

Moneypenny was hired as Albert's secretary back when he was working in MI5 (and was subsequently transferred over to MI6 when it was formed).

It was also not long after MI6's founding that Patterson was taken on as one of their informants.

And then finally, we have the last additions of James and then Billy. Again, no need to elaborate on how either came to be.

How does Louis celebrate his birthday:

He doesn't want to make a big fuss about it. He and Liam lived in the streets for quite some time, so he's used to not celebrating.

Albert won't let it slide.

He always gets the coolest celebrations every year.

Sometimes it's just him and his brothers, sometimes it's Moran and Fred too, and sometime it's just him.

He stopped celebrating his birthday after The Final Problem. It was meaningless.

He gets all sorts of things for his birthday.

But one thing is never missing from the list of gifts:

A bouquet of flowers.

Specifically azaleas, his favourites.

It's also the symbol used for him in the Morigang's flower code.

Why? Because azaleas symbolize family and unity.

Fitting for the foundational stone of the family.

The ever dependable one.

Sometimes people ask for favors in his birthday. He always complies. William wouldn't like him if he didn't. Though it would be nice to get a favor done for him.

Fred invites him to pets his cats, Moneypenny brews tea for him, Jack takes care of cleaning and Bonde takes him out to dinner.

Maybe his birthdays aren't meaningless, even without his own brothers around to celebrate.
