Released from prison, a man begins to plan an armored car robbery with an old friend and a crooked cop.

The plot is nothing special. But it's very economical (genre) story telling.

Minimal dialogue, not a single word too much, no flashy action. It all feels very real. I don't think it's possible to tell such a story in a more straightforward way.

Ich muss zugeben, in einem Film, der sonst fast ausschließlich aus schlechten Klischees besteht, war die Sache mit dem Finger eher unerwartet - nicht gut, aber unerwartet. Ansonsten, wie gesagt, viele Klischees, unsympathische Charaktere und nicht genug spontane Selbstentzündung.

Gotta admit, in a movie that's otherwise almost entirely made up of bad clichés, the whole thing with the finger was kind of unexpected - not good, but unexpected. Otherwise, as I said, lots of clichés, unlikable characters and not enough spontaneous combustion.

Sweet September

Coming from disppointing relationships a man and a woman try to be "just friends".

For the first hour it has better pacing and much more witty and sharp dialogue than most "real" movies. The two lead actors Peters and Maticevic are a joy to watch.

Unfortunately, then it turns into more like a kitchen-sink melodrama and the pace comes almost to a complete halt. It's almost as if they desperately had to fill the film with dialogue-free montages in order to achieve the mandatory ninety minutes running time. Another negative, the score constantly reminds viewers that they are watching a TV movie.

Ignoring most of the last half hour, it's still a worthwhile watch.

Guys! forget about the series ‘Man in the High Castle’ because THIS is the show you should be watching. It’s exceptionally good. Very beautifully shot, acted with the history thrown in and you are transported back to 1920s Berlin. Excellent mystery, character development and you have this beautiful series. I cannot recommend it enough! You will binge watch it like I did, but good thing is Season 2 is about to start tomorrow!
