#Miraculous spy AU

Okay, okay, hear me out:

Spy x Family AU, except Marinette is Loid & Adrien is Yor.

Marinette & Loid both have this alternate self that is very calculative & has the urge to plan out every possible outcome of a situation so they're not caught off guard. Not to mention that both of them have this very strong sense of justice and, each in their own way, are trying to make the world around them a better & safer place. However, both of them also have this other side that is gentle and kind and, essentially, a softy (though this shows more in Marinette bc, well, she hasn't been through the things Loid has been).

Then we have Adrien, who, like Yor, is outwardly sweet & cheerful and doesn't have a clue what to do with Life (TM). But he also has a dark & deadly side, which makes him absolutely consider dirtying his hands if he thought he was protecting the ppl he loves (*cough* derrision *cough*). I can totally see him become an assassin if it was the only thing he could do to protect his loved ones & bring food to the table, esp if he was taught to do that from a young age.

Also, some of my other headcanons for this AU (and pls beware of possible spoilers for sxf if u aren't caught up or want to watch):

- Emma would be Anya, obv, and like Anya, she has telepathic powers and can read her parents' minds. (Side note: I was considering making Emma a creation of the peacock miraculous & for that to be the reason she has her telepathy powers, but then I realized the miraculous existing in this AU might not make much sense, so I'm putting it on the backburner. If anybody wants to explore that, though, be my guest!)

- The plushy u see in Emma's hands in my drawing is Tikki, which is the equivalent of Mr. Chimera in the anime (however, alternatively, The Handler could be Tikki & in turn, The Shopkeeper could be Plagg. But going with my initial idea...)

- The cat in the picture, then, would be Plagg, who is the equivalent of Bond. However, unlike Bond, Plagg is a little shit & he knows it & therefore gives Marinette a lot of grief. But he's very cute when he wants to be, and Emma is very set on keeping him, so Marinette resorts to silent psychological warfare with him. Surprisingly, Plagg is pretty chill when it comes to Adrien to everyone's surprise.

- Just like Bond, Plagg also has psychic powers. However, I can just see him hissing in annoyance everytime a vision pops up. :D

- Adrien is secretly an assassin who exterminates traitors with his special dagger(s) that he calls 'Cataclysm'.

- Marinette is a spy who is tasked with getting close to her target, Chloe Bourgeois. She has a customized gun that she prefers to use that she calls her 'lucky charm'.

- Also, the same as the anime, Marinette's agent name is 'Ladybug' & Adrien's is 'Chat Noir'.

- Chloe is Marinette's target (I know Desmond & Gabriel are crazy similar, but I think it'd be pretty weird to have Gabe & Adrien in the same universe & for them to not be related).

- Chloe has 2 children: a twin son & daughter who r attending the same prestigious school. The daughter (which I haven't chosen a name for) is the equivalent of Becky & the son (which I also don't know the name of) is the equivalent of Damian.

- Chloe's daughter lives with her father (who I imagine is Luka bc it's a guilty ship of mine, but eh), but she also pays for her child support and education, so her daughter was raised like a princess and therefore has the same princess tendencies as Becky.

- Chloe's son is still pretty much the same as Damian, so not much to add there. (Yes, exactly like Damian. If you know, you know :) )

- Lastly, I will leave you with this out of pocket notion: Felix as Yuri and Kagami as Fiona (and yes, I very much ship them, even in this AU :) )

I've been obsessed with the idea of knight ladynoire

You know, I've always thought that Cigognelle would be the aggressive one in the superhero trio, despite my original au post saying that Chat Noir is the "trouble" in the group. When I noticed this inconsistency, my first thought was to change it, but then it made me think a little bit about that sort of dynamic. A few tweaks were needed, but eventually, an idea formed.

What if that's what makes Cigognelle and Chat dislike each other? What if that's what makes them different?

Maybe Chat Noir doesn't like how disruptive Cigognelle is to their superhero image with her awful character and is annoyed when she constantly says what's on her mind, even when it's to the detriment of others.

She yells at reporters when they're just asking questions, pushes people away when they get close, and insults akumas as if there isn't a camera crew hundreds of feet up in the air, recording their every move for thousands to see. Can't she see their eyes watching them? Doesn't she feel pressured under their heavy gaze? It's so simple and easy to smile in front of them and tell a lie; why can't she just tell a lie?

Cigognelle is unnerved by Chat, him, and his strange ability to flip personas in a switch. One moment, he's charming and charismatic, and the other, he's ruthless, throwing his cataclysm without any regard for consequences.

Perhaps it's his deceit that she hates, the way he gets on her ass for not being nice yet he barely restrains himself from pulling whoever annoys him into a black hole.

He always does that, she noticed. He hides behind his sharp smiles and laughs, then finds a place to "let it out" in whichever way he sees fit. Sometimes, she finds him listening to music, but it's usually just aggression. He'd throw a cataclysm at a dumpster and stare as it dissipates, or he'd send a black hole on the ground to pull in a thug just to watch him struggle.

Cigognelle knows Chat is a fake; he’s nothing but a carefully constructed persona. It gives a sort of uncanny valley effect in her mind.

Her powers crave honesty, and Chat is the furthest thing from it. She may be aggressive, but Chat was volatile.

Cigognelle doesn't know if this will ever become an issue in the future, but she's keeping an eye on him. Fu gave her a duty to protect, and she won't let that cat ruin this for her.

But whatever he happens to do in the future, she isn't too worried about not being able to stop him. She's always watching.

So there you have it folks. One (1) fully fleshed out Spy AU, two (2) fully written parts and a third on the way, 26 chapters so far, and I-don’t-know-how-many-words. I’ll be updating weekly because there’s no point in following the calendar to the letter anymore, and to give the illusion that I still have control over my life. I will mention which chapters were inspired by which prompts in my notes!

Oh I NEED to see Lila in your AU. Is she just as much of an absolute schemer and manipulator? Or is she worse? Will she get redeemed? Does she kill? Does she have weird homoerotic toxic tension with Marinette/Ladybug?

Lila is a member of the EU INTCEN (essentially the CIA), so her ability to scheme and manipulate is now focused more towards spy work and gaining information for her organization. So I suppose she's better in the sense that she has a clear reason for doing what she does? Lila was sent to Paris by INTCEN to study the akuma+miraculous phenomenon, so her primary motivations aren't just to ruin Marinette's life anymore, at the very least. Her homoerotic toxic tension is not with Marinette or Ladybug, but with Chloe. ...At least, that's what it's like from Chloe's point of view. Lila is just trapped in a doomed mission and slowly losing her mind as the fabric of reality folds in on her like a wet crepe. (-@wisteriasymphony)

DO NOT TRUST FRANK MILLER’S COMICS. His Batman: Year One is good, but everything after that is bad. Seriously, his batman got nicknamed Crazy Steve because of the belief that this could not be Bruce.

Young Justice did not actually kill Santa, they simply witnessed his death. Also Constantine snorting his bones was unrelated.

Tim Drake is canonically some flavor of queer (i think he’s bi) and has a boyfriend

Dick Grayson was killed by Lex Luthor once but he came back immediately and was turned into a spy

Jason Todd was 4’6 and 87 pounds when he died so it’s extremely common for fans to think that jaybin (jason-robin) was adorable.

Tim Drake attempted to clone his best friend (Superboy aka Kon-El) 99 times. If you want to see what that would have been like if it worked and they became a couple, go to Timkon Clone Baby AU.

If you like crossovers, get into Miraculous Ladybug, Danny Phantom, or White Collar. (I like Danny Phantom and White Collar). Though DCxDP might not be for you if you dislike vivisection.

Clones are common. They’re just around. Off the top of my head there’s Bizarro, Superboy, Terry McGinnis, Robin of Zur-En-Arrh, Heretic, Will Harper, Match, Inertia, etc.

Billy Batson is *baby*. We call him Captain Marvel still because it makes no sense for the word he can’t say to be his hero name. He was 8 years old and homeless when he became a superhero and happens to be the God of Gods. If you like secret identity reveals, it’s common in the Captain Marvel fandom.

Bruce Wayne’s legal kids are Dick Grayson (flippy Robin) Cassandra Cain (understands all body language), Jason Todd (dead Robin), Tim Drake (smart Robin), Duke Thomas (human lightbulb/gang Robin), and Damian Wayne (stabby Robin)

How would you write Lila?

Really depends on things like how many seasons I had to fill, when I had to introduce her, if I had to give her the butterfly, and what I was doing with Chloe since Chloe and Lila are functionally the same character for most of the show. You do not need two petty mean girls to cause interpersonal drama. Either redeem one or don't let them overlap!

If we have to keep the butterfly as the villain to maintain the formula, then I'd make Lila a sentimonster created by Nathalie and introduce Lila at the start of season four. The linked post goes over my pitch for that rework, but while I like the concept, I don't like the butterfly being the designated evil miraculous. It just feels so bleh. Fives seasons of fighting and we're still right where we started: the butterfly in the hands of a villain that the heroes have no clear plan to defeat. You could start the story at season six and miss almost nothing (thus my constant theorizing that season six is a soft reboot.)

So let's take this post in a wildly different direction and talk in depth about evil spy Lila!

Almost any idea I have for Lila is going to involve some bigger plot to explain her lies and manipulation because they're just so over the top! Plus she's 14! How did she become this good at lying? Canon needs to give us some logic to explain all of this. Magic is a good excuse. So is training or even training and magic!

In this AU, Lila is from some sort of evil organization that uses their power for evil purposes (there are lots of routes you can got with this from evil magic to evil company, so let's stay high level and not commit to a path). The organization sees the miraculous being used in Paris and sends Lila to Paris to try to get her hands on the miraculous. Lila is specifically sent because of the Ladyblog. The organization views Alya as an easy in and so they send a teenage member or someone's kid who desperately wants to be part of the group.

This new Lila shows up claiming to be a Ladybug superfan, which instantly bonds her to Alya. Marinette's dislike of Lila now stems from Lila wanting to know all of Ladybug's secrets, which obviously raises red flags for Marinette, but not for Alya because Alya wants the same thing. In fact, Alya is really baffled why Lila's obsession rubs Marinette the wrong way because Marinette has always been fine with Alya having the same obsession. We know that the answer is that Marinette trusts Alya, but Lila is a wild card, but of course Alya doesn't know any of that. This makes the Marinette and Alya clash over Lila a lot more complex because it's no longer about lies. It's about trust and Marinette has no way to explain why trust is a factor without outing herself as Ladybug.

Lila can still tell lies and manipulate, but it's now all around getting close to Ladybug and learning everything she can. You can even have the Adrien conflict maintained with it now being Chat Noir wanting to be nice to fans while Ladybug is hard on the bad vibes train since Lila is so uncomfortably obsessed with her, another conflict that makes way more sense than what canon gave us. Adrien is just immune to weird fans and doesn't know that Ladybug is being bombarded with Lila's obsession every day at school.

This means that Marinette's Lila aversion is less her knowing something and more her being understandably uncomfortable because identity shenanigans, which is another nice complexity as it lets Marinette struggle with not knowing how to approach the situation because she knows she has no hard logical reason for her feelings, but she just can't get passed them. This could lead to some good lessons for kids on healthy relationships with celebrities/internet personalities and how you don't really know that person or have a right to their private life. It is, in fact, totally normal for your favorite celebrity to find your obsession a little creepy and block you when you cross lines. (This could even be a growing moment for Marinette re her crush on Adrien since it's written like a celebrity crush, though my personal preference is to just fix the writing around that to a more normal teenage crush. Even there it could be a growing moment, just a more nuanced one.)

There are a lot of ways to resolve this plot. Whatever you pick should see Lila outed and, in the process, we learn about the evil organization, giving us a new big bad for the heroes to deal with. Something that isn't tied to the miraculous and that is so big that it might justify having a big team of heroes to fight the new evil? Just a thought.

Skullslice AU

The albatrio meets while Chip is still in Reubens gang.

- Chip is meaner, less joking around, gets angry a lot easier but is actually just scared. He wants to escape he just hasn’t gotten around to it yet. (Reuben keeps guilting him into staying.)

-Jay is still a spy for the navy but she isn’t given the choice of choosing her own missions and has to work up to that. She has been assigned to as a spy in Price’s gang to gather information and keep peace with the gang and navy relationships. Originally she only became close to Chip because she knew that he was close to Price.

-Unfortunately when Gil was banished skullslice was the first place he found. He originally came out swinging because evil and got himself captured. Price sent Chip to kill him but he managed to fake his death and keep him in hiding but Gil can sense an evil on Chip so it makes it very difficult. Chip manages to get Jay take care of Gillion. Jay admits to Gil that she is a traitor right away and after knowing Chip eventually convinces Gil that the reason why he is “evil” is because Reuben is making him that way. Gil wants to apologize to Chip but Jay tells him not to say a word of what they discussed in private. Chip is bitter and argumentative at first but Gillion seems way too apologetic and unresponsive to it. Eventually they all get closer. There is a lot of tension but Chip is the best friend they can have in this situation and Chip is starved for any affection that isn’t from his brother so they ignore their circumstances. One day Chip comes down with more bruises than usual and confesses to Gil that he wants to leave Reuben. Gil, trying to help, says that Jay is a spy and could probably help him escape. Chip, lashing out, says that he should’ve killed Gil when he was told and they dual. Jay interrupts and Chips anger is redirected towards her. Jay admits everything to them. Jay tries to apologize but gets overwhelmed and instinctively runs back to Reuben to tell him everything. He immediately sends people out to find them and says that for going behind his back he will have to kill both of them. Chip miraculously finds them before anyone else and they make their great escape to sea. Chip forgives Jay because she gave him his dream. Jay doesn’t want to go back to the navy she wants to find her sisters killer so Jay and Chip made a deal that he will help her them as part of his crew. They don’t look at eachother the same at first but get the chance to become friends all over again but the right way. Gillion feels tremendous guilt for ruining their friendship and swears that he will make it better so he stays with them. Then even after he learns that as a crew they can do good together and fuck shit up.
