Album of the week (KW 6/23): Ladytron / Time´s arrow

Mit zwei vielversprechenden Outtakes haben Ladytron ihren siebten Longplayer Time´s arrow vorangekündigt: City of Angels und Faces. Das Album selbst kann das hohe Niveau dieser beiden Vorabtaster nun nicht ganz halten, ist aber dennoch stark genug um in KW 06/23 als Album der Woche zu reüssieren. Tatsächlich sind es die treibenden Upbeat Nummern, wie The Night, die Time`s arrow das Gerüst geben. Ladytron zeigen sich weiterhin als Brückenbauer zwischen Früh Eighties Synth Pop und aktueller Electronica. Die stärksten Momente – neben den vorgenannten treibenden Songs hat Time´s arrow, wenn Helen Marnie, Mira Aroyo, Daniel Hunt und Reuben Wu ganz tief in Post Punk Electronica der Jahre 1979 -1981 (Sargasso Sea) eintauchen oder sich Stilelementen von frühen OMD (Flight from Angkor) oder - einem der interessantesten Albumstücke – bei Gary Numan bedienen (We never went away). Geben Sie Time´s arrow etwas Zeit und das Album wird es Ihnen danken, denn unter der wuchtigen, dick aufgetragenen Synth-Pop Patina lauern tiefgründige Sounds, die, wenn Sie wie ich einen innigen Bezug zu New Romantik pflegen, Sie schell gefangen nehmen.
