I don't know about you, but the topic of aliens and UFOs has always fascinated me. As a British man, I've often wondered what our government knows about extraterrestrial life and whether they've had any encounters with unidentified flying objects.
There have been numerous reports of UFO sightings in the UK, with some of the most famous occurring in the 1980s in Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk. It's been dubbed the "British Roswell" and is still talked about to this day. Many eyewitnesses claim to have seen a triangular-shaped craft with bright lights and symbols on its side, hovering above the forest.
Despite the number of reported sightings, the British government has always been tight-lipped about their involvement with UFOs. The Ministry of Defence did, however, release a dossier in 2009 that detailed sightings and investigations between 1978 and 2002. But even then, they were careful to state that there was no evidence to suggest that any of the sightings were extraterrestrial in nature.
As someone who loves the idea of aliens and UFOs, I can't help but wonder what the truth really is. Are we really alone in the universe, or have we been visited by beings from other planets? Until we have concrete evidence, we can only speculate and imagine what lies beyond our world.
So, what do you think? Have you had any encounters with UFOs or know of any interesting sightings in the UK? Let me know in the comments.

The Ministry of Defence has given major suppliers only 36 hours to come up with ideas for immediate cuts amid significant budget pressure, according to a confidential letter seen by i. In a letter sent out to defence contractors on Monday senior civil servants at the MoD demanded companies come up with “high-level, headline ideas” for cost savings within 36 hours in which officials admit was an “exceptionally tight turnaround”. Contractors were told the MoD needed to “make material in-year savings, through the cancellation or deferral of lower -riority activity”, or present plans for efficiency savings “as quickly as possible”. The MoD letter states that ministers will need to make some “hard choices” that “align to this government’s target of spending 2.5 per cent of GDP on defence”. Although the Prime Minister has set out his plans to raise defence spending to 2.5 per cent of GDP in future years no date has been set. The letter seen by i suggests that significant savings are needed for this financial year with contractors asked what areas could be cut while preserving “military capability”.

Don't get me wrong; I'm for less spending on the military, but aren't they gearing up for the coming war? British troops can look forward to using the best of the cheapest arms out there.
Anyway, I have a suggestion; they can outsource some work to Belarus and Russia, like they did with the nuclear submarine software, perhaps buy Chinese weapons which are cheaper than their US counterparts.
FTR, military spending, as a percentage of GDP, went down every year from 2010 to 2018 and only started going up again under Bojo the Clown thanks to the threats from the orange man-child in the White House. Looks like it will be going down again. The 34-times convicted felon will not be pleased.

Celta, here's another easy question to ask the universe about Harry's 10 year Army service: Why did Harry lie about being an Apache helicopter pilot? A follow up question would be Why did the British media lie about Harry being an Apache helicopter pilot?
Hi Nonny,
I think that Harry did not correct the misconception that he was an Apache pilot because it made him look good. The original press release came from the Ministry of Defence, and it was picked up by the media and they ran with it. I have found two contradictory articles on this:
Feb 2012, saying that Harry qualified as a pilot and wants to use those skills in a future second tour in Afghanistan
Jul 2013, saying that Harry was a gunner during his second tour of Afghanistan, and saying he has passed an exam as a 'commander' and can 'take overall control of the helicopter' - no mention of the word pilot.
I suspect, very strongly, that 'Harry is an apache pilot' was put out as part of the 'Hero Harry' PR, and while it was never stated outright that he was a pilot, the press releases were worded in such as way that the normal person would infer that from what was said. Hence the media running with the idea and headlines saying he was a pilot.
I will add your questions to my list of follow up ones as it will be interesting to see what the cards have to say. :)

(MPN) - The UK’s armed forces are now using Israeli rifle technology that was tested in the Gaza Strip
The Israeli company, Smartshooter producing precision targeting equipment and has been battle tested on Palestinians since 2018. While the British army says its soldiers will be equipped with the new technology that attaches to assault rifles and reportedly “turns every soldier into a sniper” for the purpose of shooting down drones, it has also been admitted that it is used for ground targets too. The Israeli company was able to market this technology in September arms exhibition that was sponsored by the British Ministry of Defence (MoD). Another one of Smartshooter’s products, that was deployed at checkpoints in the West Bank and mounted on military vehicles, was an AI powered automatic weapon used for “crowd control”.

"Most UK military flights were vast cargo vehicles that can carry weapons and over 100 soldiers. Ministry of Defence claims it does not have access to number of troops it has moved to Israel. Flights from UK’s Cyprus base alone had capacity to transport 4,300 soldiers, likely to include elite SAS troops.
... When asked for a full accounting of what cargo these flights carried, the MoD said: 'Royal Air Force operated planes landing in Israel since 7 October 2023 have been used by Ministers, officials and UK Armed Forces personnel conducting diplomatic and defence engagement, and to transport life-saving medical supplies.'
But the department is refusing to elaborate on what this 'defence engagement' has involved.
The department also refused to give details of how many UK military personnel have been transported to Israel on these flights, telling parliament that because 'this information is not held centrally within the Ministry of Defence, we are unable to give a specific number.'
This is an unconventional answer to a parliamentary question and its meaning is unclear. Declassified previously revealed that the UK secretly deployed 500 extra troops to its Cyprus base after Israel began bombing Gaza."

Counterfetts on Twitter (icon is Isobel from bg3) has a thread about it that also places the Charles business in the timeline in case that’s relevant (personally I only think it is as a comparison of how the royal family usually handles things). It doesn’t cover the more recent stuff though, so I’ll do an overview:
4th March a blurry paparazzi photo of Kate in the car with her mum is released. People use AI to remove the distortion and then make wild claims about it being a double because the AI made it not look like her, but that’s just how those enhancement features work. The photos too grainy to glean anything from except that she’s alive and conscious.
5th March the ministry of defence posts that she’s going to attend trooping of the colour in June. This is bizarre because the MoD don’t make those announcements, and it’s a long way off to be announcing that. The announcement is removed the same day.
10th March for Mother’s Day Kensington palace post a photo of Kate with her children, saying it was taken by William. She is not wearing a wedding ring. The photo is pretty obviously photoshopped and several media outlets put a kill notice on it.
11th March Kate tweets from the Kensington palace account that she likes to mess around with photo editing and apologises for the confusion. This is bizarre for several reasons, first that William took the photo but Kate’s taking the blame, and second that it is not in the format of an official announcement which ALL communications from royals or their representatives usually are. A photo of her in the car with William, supposedly on the way to two seperate appointments is released later. She is looking away from the camera and only her profile is visible. It is a BIZARRE photo to pick during this particular moment.
Over the next few days many different news outlets post articles about the marchioness of cholmondeley (pronounced chumly. Somehow) just introducing her out of nowhere. Apparently she is rumoured to be Williams mistress.
Tbh I don’t think there’s anything particularly malicious going on, I think she’s just either gained weight from surgery or had a temporary colostomy bag put in and the royal family is too misogynistic/ableist to let her be photographed like that. I do also think William is cheating on her but that’s just seperate to this whole thing. I think the lack of the wedding ring in the Mother’s Day photo has more to do with generative ai being used than a secret message hinting at divorce.
omg thank you anon.... i expected a link and instead u delivered this info directly into my inbox. #blessed

Russian bomber pilots hit a grain ship in the Black Sea by mistake as they “targeted it in haste” and wanted to fly away quickly to avoid Ukrainian air defences, say British defence chiefs.
The Ministry of Defence in London believes that the merchant vessel Aya may only have escaped catastrophic damage because of a “detonation failure” in the “aging munition” fired at it.
In its latest intelligence update, the MoD said: “On 11 September 2024, the merchant vessel Aya was struck by a missile in the Black Sea as it transited south from the Ukrainian port of Odesa having been loaded with more than 26 thousand tons of grain bound for Egypt.
“It is almost certain that the missile was an AS-4 KITCHEN anti-ship missile launched by a Tu-22M3 BACKFIRE Russian bomber that was operating in the area at the time. It is a realistic possibility that a detonation failure avoided catastrophic damage.”
Russian and Ukrainian forces have fought a series of battles along the Black Sea coastline, and out at sea, including over Snake Island, which was captured by Vladimir Putin’s forces before being seized back, and the sinking of the flagship Moskva warship.
The Russian navy was forced to retreat from the Black Sea after the port of Sevastopol in Crimea was targeted.
But the British military chiefs do not believe that the grain vessel was hit on purpose and instead that it was “likely struck due to poor targeting procedures from Russian pilots using an aging munition”.
They added: “Following the loss of a BACKFIRE in April this year, Russia has almost certainly been more wary with their strike operations in the Black Sea.
“It is a realistic possibility this incident occurred due to pilots incorrectly identifying Aya as their target in haste, wanting to depart the area immediately after launch for fear of being targeted by a Ukrainian surface to air missile.
“The KITCHEN missile has consistently underperformed in the Ukraine conflict. Launching a supersonic cruise missile on an incorrect heading against a likely erroneous target in international waters demonstrates extremely poor and irresponsible aviation practice.”
Britain, the US, Ukraine and its allies have been fighting an information war, alongside the battlefield conflict, against Russia so their briefings need to be treated with caution.
However, they are far more believable than the propaganda issued by the Kremlin.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's armed forces commander General Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Thursday he had ordered defences to be strengthened in the eastern Donetsk region, a day after Kyiv forces announced they had withdrawn from the town of Vuhledar.
Russian troops are steadily inching forward in different sectors in eastern Ukraine despite Kyiv's surprise incursion into Russia's western Kursk region in August that it was hoped would slow the advances.
Syrskyi said on social media he was working on "one of the hottest front sectors" with the 25th Sicheslav Airborne Brigade.
He gave no details on the exact location but the brigade operates in the Pokrovsk front, an area of intensified Russian assaults.
"While working in the brigade, I made a number of decisions aimed at strengthening stability and effectiveness of our defence," Syrskyi said.
Russian forces launched a major drone attack overnight on 15 Ukrainian regions, causing damage to commercial and residential buildings, local authorities said on Thursday, though there were no immediate reports of any casualties.
The Ukrainian air force said it had shot down 78 out of 105 Russian drones during the assault, with 23 more likely impacted by active electronic jamming.
Authorities in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv said the air force had downed around 15 drones over the city and its surroundings during an air alert that lasted more than five hours.
A Russian drone targeted a truck delivering gas in Ukraine's northern Chernihiv region on Thursday, killing two adults and a child, police said.
Ukrainian drones attacked the "Borisoglebsk" military airfield and warehouses for fuel and guided bombs in Russia's Voronezh region overnight, according to a Ukrainian security source.
The security source said Ukraine's SBU security service was continuing actions to reduce the ability of Russian troops to use fighter jets with guided bombs to strike Ukrainian cities, and that attacks on Russian airfields would continue.
The drones attacked warehouses, parking lots for Russian Sukhoi Su-35 and Su-34 jets and aviation fuel storage facilities at the Borisoglebsk airfield, the source said.
"From there, the enemy actively bombards Ukrainian territories with guided bombs," he said.
Pictures on the attack and a short video clip showing fires could not be independently verified and the extent of the damage was not immediately clear.
Alexander Gusev, the governor of Russia's Voronezh region, said Russian air defence had shot down 10 drones over the region. He did not report any damage.

Britain’s nuclear submarine engineers use software that was designed in Russia and Belarus, in contravention of Ministry of Defence rules, The Telegraph can reveal. The software should have been created by UK-based staff with security clearance, but its design was partially outsourced to developers in Siberia and Minsk, the capital of Belarus. There are fears that the code built by the Russian and Belarussian developers could be exploited to reveal the location of Britain’s submarines. The Telegraph understands that the MoD considered the security breach a serious threat to UK defence and launched an investigation. The inquiry discovered that the firm that outsourced the work – on a staff intranet for nuclear submarine engineers – to Russia and Belarus initially kept it secret and discussed whether it could disguise where the workers were based by giving them fake names of dead British people. As well as the UK’s submarine fleet, there are fears that further defence capabilities could have been compromised because it has emerged that a previous project was also outsourced to developers in Minsk. National security in jeopardy On Friday, experts warned that the UK’s national security could have been jeopardised if personal details of those with classified knowledge of Britain’s nuclear submarine fleet fell into the wrong hands, leaving them exposed to blackmail or targeted attacks. Ben Wallace, the former defence secretary, said the breach “potentially left us vulnerable to the undermining of our national security”. He added: “Time and time again, countries like China and Russia have targeted the supply chains of our defence contractors. This is not a new phenomenon.” James Cartlidge, the shadow defence secretary, said it was an “absolute imperative” to ensure “our most sensitive defence programmes have total resilience and security”. Rolls-Royce Submarines, which powers the UK’s nuclear submarine fleet on behalf of the Royal Navy, wanted to upgrade its staff intranet and had subcontracted the work to WM Reply, a digital consultancy firm. WM Reply then used developers based in Belarus – Russia’s closest ally – one of whom was actually working from home in Tomsk, Siberia, according to documents submitted to the MoD’s inquiry.

This happened under the Tories, no doubt a product of austerity and the drive to acquire things as cheaply as possible.

The Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR) is a `Tier 1´ special reconnaissance unit of the British Army that conducts a wide range of covert surveillance and reconnaissance for the United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF). Much of the information about the SRR is highly classified. The unit is not commented on by either the British government or the Ministry of Defence (MoD) due to the secrecy and sensitivity of its operations.

Celta, Daily Mail reports William wrote a fwd to a book about 200 individuals who trained at Sandhurst. Harry was not mentioned in the book. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) was reportedly angry when Harry wrote in "Spare" that he killed 25 enemy combatants. Military gossip from people who allegedly served with Harry said he never killed anyone. Tarot idea: does the MoD know Harry is lying about killing enemy combatants? If you're uneasy adding this question to your tarot list, pls disregard this.
Hi Nonny,
I would love to ask that question (or something similar), as it is something that I would like to know.
I actually believe the MoD and all/most serving men and women, past and present, would be furious with Harry, as apparently what he did is a huge breach of army etiquette. To me, it just shows how much Harry gets off on the idea of being a person with a kill count, which in turn shows exactly what sort of person he is.
The question has been added to my list. :)

UK: Russia 'Grossly Exaggerated' Military Show Of Strength News Buzz
Vladimir Putin’s army “grossly exaggerated” the size of a large-scale strategic exercise it conducted last month, according to the UK. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) analysed Russia’s attempt to show off its “reach and capability” in September, when Moscow ordered its troops to mobilise in different parts of the world. The British officials concluded that while the Russian Federation Navy’s…
