It would save the country. Since she left him Zuko has caused an Hyperinflation. I have always believed that being married to a woman smarter than him was the best way of straighten Zuko out. So hard to say! The Trio are so, so young when we leave them, I find it almost impossible to project their futures farther than a few years out. The job that suited me at 17 would be radically unsuited to me now. That's why of all the Trio, Ron's ending strikes me as the most realistic — he jumps straight into the save-the-world business again, burns out, realizes he's actually Done The Fuck Enough, Thanks, and pivots into a low-stress career where he gets to see his family a lot. Feels accurate! The others are weirder to me because they do seem to just... pick a lane and stay there.

With Hermione, you could spin her a couple ways. You could say that she leans into her bookish side and does research or teaching, which is not my preference for a couple reasons (namely, I don't think Hermione would like academia as a profession; she finds her classwork interesting and enjoys intellectual validation, but she'd be stifled and wasted in a DPhil program, and she'd be infuriated by the administrative politicking of your average higher-ed faculty). You could say that she gets disaffected with politics and ends up as a barrister or a lobbyist of some kind, but if anything that requires more political finesse, because you don't actually have institutional power, you're just handling the people who make decisions and trying to persuade them of your goals. This is not Hermione's preferred method of influence. She's not even particularly good at persuasion, she just happens to be smart enough (and right often enough) that people take her ideas seriously.

Or you could say her brashness fades with the years into a softened flavor of tell-you-like-it-is honesty, which some politicians actually do successfully trade on; as we see in British politics today, you don't have to be all that charming or clever to get ahead, you just need to be really driven and well-connected (which Hermione completely is; she fought shoulder-to-shoulder with the first postwar Minister and her bestie, the Literal Messiah, runs the Auror Office.) But I don't know if Hermione especially wants to be Minister, after the war. She's just watched years of horrendous bureaucratic incompetence plunge the country into a violent civil conflict. She's had not one, but two Ministers of Magic try to bully or shame her friends into complicity with fascism. Her view of government is... likely extremely dark.

But Hermione also isn't the kind of person who sees her life as a quest for happiness. Babygirl has a savior complex that makes Harry look selfish. (She basically kills her parents — yeah, obliviating is a form of murder, #changemymind — "for their own good," and justifies every batshit, vindictive, mean-spirited move she ever pulls on the grounds that it "helps" one of her friends.) She is a mean, lean, dragon-slaying machine, and she needs a dragon. After Voldemort, the Ministry is the no. 1 threat to muggle-borns and non-wizarding Beings. As a war heroine with basically infinite political capital, I'd be surprised if she didn't try to do something there. That said, Hermione is so vivacious and dynamic that she could potentially grow in a hundred different directions; it's possible that all of this, while true of her at 18, becomes completely inaccurate by 22. That's why I'm not too fussed about any particular fanon interpretation.

Alright, this is basically me paraphrasing a tiktok made by TikTok user melodieospan, about an issue in Kazakhstan. Please look her up on TikTok and watch her videos on this. For those who do not know; on November 9th, of 2023, the ex-minister of economy of Kazakhstan, Quandyq Beshimbayev, murdered his wife., Saltanat Nukenova, in a restaurant.

Over the past month or so, he had been undergoing a court case, which, so far, can only be described as a fat joke.

All of the screwed up and graphic details of this case, murder, and trial that I know of as of now will be talked about here, so if you can be sensitive to murder stuff, please do look it up elsewhere to find a less graphic discussion. TikTok user melodieospan has some. But I do ask you look into this, it is a problem.

For those of you still here, great. Here we go, prepare yourself.

He had beat his wife, Saltanat, for 8 hours straight, Beshimbayev covered her alive, wheezing body with a blanket, then went back to eating his food like nothing had happened, and he didn't do something so awful.

No ambulance was called. He just ate in the same room as his dying wife. His brother showed up. ALSO did nothing. Except for trying to help Beshimbayev cover up the whole thing.

They took her phone, and drove it around the city for hours, so that no one could look for her.

Saltanat tried leaving her husband multiple times, but always came back, and, according to various sources, Beshimbayev forced her to make a innapropriate video with him, and he used it as blackmail.

All of this has been proved, so it makes you wonder, 'why has there been no punishment yet?'.

That isn't exactly how Kazakhstan works. In order for a murderer to be found guilty of the murder he commited, it also has to be proved that the victim did not DESERVE it.

In this court case, for some reason, they have been discussing every single possible reason for why she deserved to die, like she might've been an alcoholic, she might've been mentally unstable, and Quandyq Beshimbayev is somehow allowed to go off for HOURS on how terrible of a wife she was, and 'oh, how she would raise her hands at him'.

Which, okay. But if she did that, why is she the dead one? And the brother of Saltanat, Aitbek Amangeldy, has been treated so disgustingly by the court.

Just, imagine this:

Losing your sister, one of the people you love the most in the whole entire world, in such a truly terrible way, and then having to stand in front of all these people, who ask such stupid questions, such as;

'What was your sister's preference with her relationships with men?'

'Did she like to dominate them, or did she like when they dominated her?'.

And this man who is grieving cannot show any emotion while answering these questions . Every time he answers with emotion in it, he is reprimanded by the judge, being told that he might just be found guilty for his disrespect to the court.

Aitbek Amangeldy, the brother to the victim, is being treat as if he were the murderer, while the murderer himself is not taking this seriously, because he is laughing and smiling, and passing notes.

It has been five months, Beshimbayev has been proved to be the murderer, and is still referred to as the 'subject', and there has not been a sentence in over five months.

This is sickening, but there are things people can do to help change the Justice system in Kazakhstan, even if you are not a Kazakhstani citizen.

You shouldn't come to me for this kind of info, but anyways, here's a very brief update on the latest Argentinian election.

No candidate for the presidency got enough votes to win it. there will be a second round (on november 19th) between the deranged demon liberturd and a normal center candidate. So there's a whole month of anxiety and uncertainty in front of us, but it could have been much, much worse.

In the Deputies chamber, the liberturds went from holding 3 seats (out of 257) to 37. And in the Senate, from 0 (out of 72) to 8. Fuck.

What are your thoughts on Mai and Izumi?

I have known Michi's daughter since her earliest childhood, ever since Zhao had the idea that having our children compete in baby races was the best way for them to start developing their skills. Michi almost always won, because she had the most efficient baby. Sometimes Zhao won, because he had seven babies to participate with. I always lost, because I only had Zuko and Zuko was more interested in chasing the turtleducks than developing his skills. And when I finally had a baby I could win with, Zhao and Michi's babies were already able to walk.

I always had the impression that Mai had inherited her mother's efficiency, though she was evidently even more serious. I cannot think of a time when she was anything but a perfect Fire Nation citizen (except when she betrayed Azula, but that was Zuko's fault for brainwashing her). Azula's other playmate, Ty Lemon, was prone to spontaneous crying and tantrums, and was always trying to get people's attention with her bad jokes (why Azula wanted to spend time with her was a complete mystery). But Mai was completely different. She was composed and elegant, and when she started throwing knives she became the second most popular girl in the court after Azula.

It was always evident that she also harbored romantic feelings for Zuko. I never knew exactly why until Azula told me the story a few years ago. It turns out that when they were kids, Zuko had the brilliant idea of hitting her on the head to cause her brain damage and convince her to be his girlfriend. So after making up some excuse about a shuriken and an apple, at ten years old Zuko pushed her into the fountain and Mai hit her head. 'Hahaha now you will be my girlfriend and I will use your talents to further my ambitions,' said Zuko, in front of Azula. 'Oh Agni, I'm head over heels in love with you now,' replied Mai.

And that was how Zuko got a girl who was totally out of his league. I almost could not believe it when Azula told me what happened. Zuko had had a brilliant idea. I even thought about doing the same with Ursa, but I didn't have time, because soon after Iroh decided that his whims were above common sense and Lu Ten died in a stupid attack that anyone with half a brain could have prevented. I wanted to make plans to arrange a future marriage between Zuko and Mai, in the hope that she would teach him to be more useful, before she inevitably recovered from her head injury.

Unfortunately Zuko did too good a job brainwashing her, because she was still in love with him even after Zuko broke up with her with a letter to join the Avatar's paramilitary terrorist group. Why didn't he think of taking her with him? What was he thinking? The young lady is a human weapon. That boy can't even plan a coup properly. And as a result, she became a traitor and Azula had no choice but to lock her away until she regained her senses.

But now Zuko is Firelord, and you would think he would finally do the smart thing and marry her, right? Well, no, because the girl finally healed from her head injury and left him. Good for her.

And I don't know who Izumi is, but I guess she's the daughter Zuko will have with her in the future if by some miracle he convinces Mai to give him another chance. Only Zuko would name a baby 'Fountain'.
