i think it's kinda sad the way the minecraft community has ended up. it seems to consist mainly of hype and hatred these days. i saw an influential youtuber unironically say that mojang needs to overpromise so updates can make hype and have "cultural impact".
on the regular i see people hating the smaller updates (which usually contain big technical leaps) because they "didn't add enough". mind you, these are free updates, on a yearly schedule, which are very clearly limited by said time frame. you can't have both a giant update and a yearly schedule. developers are human too.
so, i must ask. why can't people just be content? we got cherry blossom trees. they're really pretty when you get the petals blowing in the wind! we got the sniffers, which regardless of your thoughts on the mob vote, are really cute! how much is "enough" for people?

The modder argument is a fallacy.
We've all heard the argument, "a modder did it in a day, why does Mojang take a year?"
Hi, in case you don't know me, I'm a Minecraft modder. I'm the lead developer for the Sweet Berry Collective, a small modding team focused on quality mods.
I've been working on a mod, Wandering Wizardry, for about a year now, and I only have the amount of new content equivalent to 1/3 of an update.
Quality content takes time.
Anyone who does anything creative will agree with me. You need to make the code, the art, the models, all of which takes time.
One of the biggest bottlenecks in anything creative is the flow of ideas. If you have a lot of conflicting ideas you throw together super quickly, they'll all clash with each other, and nothing will feel coherent.
If you instead try to come up with ideas that fit with other parts of the content, you'll quickly run out and get stuck on what to add.
Modders don't need to follow Mojang's standards.
Mojang has a lot of standards on the type of content that's allowed to be in the game. Modders don't need to follow these.
A modder can implement a small feature in 5 minutes disregarding the rest of the game and how it fits in with that.
Mojang has to make sure it works on both Java and Bedrock, make sure it fits with other similar features, make sure it doesn't break progression, and listen to the whole community on that feature.
Mojang can't just buy out mods.
Almost every mod depends on external code that Mojang doesn't have the right to use. Forge, Fabric API, and Quilt Standard Libraries, all are unusable in base Minecraft, as well as the dozens of community maintained libraries for mods.
If Mojang were to buy a mod to implement it in the game, they'd need to partially or fully reimplement it to be compatible with the rest of the codebase.
Mojang does have tendencies of *hiring* modders, but that's different than outright buying mods.
Conclusion
Stop weaponizing us against Mojang. I can speak for almost the whole modding community when I say we don't like it.
Please reblog so more people can see this, and to put an end to the modder argument.

Okay so I’ve been yapping for a good while and I had an idea for my dumb little knock off hermitcraft story one I’ve decided to name it SolitaryCraft (such a smart name) and two I’ve thought about ya know the watcher guys now listen I dunno watcher lore both cannon and fannon I only know from friends BUT I thought it be cool if these guys had their own version of the watchers but instead it was called “The view” which is like a giant cliff side that speaks whispers silently into the wind and sometimes depending on if they allow you to hear them you can respond to them! (Which is an excuse to say that basically people from my ask box ARE what make up “the view”)
Also here’s a doodle of peg thank you for your time and reading this!

Some of y’all may not enjoy this “hot take” but some, if not most, of the fanbases within the Minecraft community need to learn that a majority of Minecraft YouTubers are in their late 20s to mid 40s and are more than capable to talking to one another if an issue arises. And if there is such issues it’s not up to the fan base (aka you) to get involved or try to sway things or whatever some fans typically do.
(Applicable mainly to like Hermitcraft, empires, SOS, and all that general crowd fans as it’s where I see it from the most).
“I feel like they were a bit too mean to Jimmy…” or whatever else, not just Solidarity.
He’s a grown man.If he has a problem with something I’m sure they’ll talk about it after or in the moment where it’s more private as most issues can very well be done privately and it’s not our business! Hell, It’s not our job, as fans who are watching the finished edited product that’s posted publicly, to police shit or put flame on other creators for being “a little too mean”. It’s all in good fun. There is a damn reason why some members make a disclaimer at the start of the video that all this was made in good fun and everything is fine.
If you feel I’m wrong or misunderstanding something (which is possible), contact me privately in DMs. I’m turning off anon in advanced because some of you shouldn’t ever have anonymity LOL.
