Writing tip!

Using different sport indexes to get the height and weight for characters is one of the most accurate ways to do it. This holds expecially true if you are doing a rather athletic character because you can take their body type into account and understanding of what sport they would play and compare it to a sports index.

The (american) football index is THE BEST when you are trying to get larger body types, in height and weight because you can also look up certain positions body types and see if it matches your vision.

god this is so late, but I was procrastinating writing this

I also didn’t know how to wrap this up so it ends pretty abruptly lol

(Im using the Draconic language for wyvern language bc why not) (how will this translate to English idk and im not figuring it out)

Okay, so the rest of the wyverns turned their backs on Ungrth because he meddled in human affairs, but let's have those human affairs be Laurence. He was, of course, an orphan before being adopted by Joh. I don't think it was ever stated what age he was when he came under Joh's care, but for this we'll say definitely under 10 and over 5.

Ungrth is out and about in the sky when he stumbles across a little boy all by himself. He is alone, covered in dirt and blood, crying hysterically. Ungrth was a little surprised, considering he had never seen a human cub without it’s parents.

Usually, Ungrth would stay out of human business, but something about this boy. He couldn’t just leave him.

When he lands, the child is rightfully terrified, letting out a shrill scream and cowering down. Presumably awaiting his demise. Ungrth feels sorry for the little thing. He was smaller than other cubs he had seen. Must have been a runt.

As best he can, Ungrth tries to show he’s no harm, making soft trilling noises. He didn’t think the human could understand him, but it seemed to do the trick and relax him. Ungrth steps closer, leaning his face down. The cub reaches a small paw up and lays it on Ungrth’s muzzle. He gently rubs the wyvern's head. It feels nice, he realizes in surprise.

He knew that he would be in huge trouble if anyone found out what he was doing. But if a purr eased its way out, no one was around to hear.

Ungrth licked the cub’s face, wiping away tears and blood. He didn’t think it was the cub’s. The human hiccuped and nuzzled into his scales, reaching with both arms to hold him.

“It’s alright, little one,” Ungrth comforted. “I.. I will help you.” The cub obviously did not understand a word he said, but even so, he smiled.

The days passed with Ungrth keeping watch over the human child. He hunted for him, bathed him (the cub didn’t like to sit still for that), and kept him warm when the night began to cool.

Much to Ungrth’s surprise, he began to love the human cub as his own. The child was so innocent and quiet. He didn’t seem to know how to speak. Or perhaps didn’t want to. Ungrth would just have to teach him to speak his language.

He let out a yawn, his mouth opening wide to show off his jagged teeth. The human cub watched him and followed suit with a yawn of his own. Ungrth watched him carefully. He couldn’t keep calling the cub, well, cub.

“You need a name,” he murmured, half to himself. The cub tilted his head to the side. “I think I shall call you, Loerchik.”

Ungrth raised a paw and pointed to himself. “Ungrth,” he said slowly, sounding out the word. He then pointed to the newly named cub. “Loerchik.”

Loerchik blinked before trying to mimic Ungrth’s words. “Un.. Unger,” he stuttered, struggling with the name. “Ungerath.”

Ungrth couldn’t hold back the laugh that escaped him. Although it was completely wrong, Loerchik was trying hard to understand him. “Ungrth,” he repeated slower.

The small boy narrowed his eyes. “Un.. Ungrth.”

The wyvern jumped to his feet with a flap of his wings. “You did it!” he beamed. “That’s my name. Ungrth.”

Loerchik smiled wide and clapped his hands. “Ungrth!” he said again.

Headcanon that 'Laurance' wasn't his original name, and in fact Ungrth named him.

It's a translation of a name in the Wyvern language, and Ungrth had to guess at the spelling. That's why it's weird.
