hi so i wanted to add on to the lore of this statue and my rewrite

Y’all remember when Aphmau Laurance and Katelyn were exploring the chapel on alliance island and Aph and Laur fell through the floor? And how they come across a room filled with art and mosaics and how it turned out to be a tomb?

Yeah they found it there.

But who’s tomb is it??

Well in canon it’s heavily implied to be Kul’Zak’s but see, in my rewrite, that simply wouldn’t work. Because Kul’Zak, along with the rest of the Divine Warriors (excluding Irene and Shad) were kind of…. Incinerated. Evaporated, if you will. They died, yes, but there would be no body to bury.

So again, who’s tomb?

Xavier’s.

When Xavier was killed, Irene felt so much sorrow and guilt that she gathered all she could to give him the most beautiful tomb possible. She even had the statue made so they could truly be together one last time.

And the artifact they find in his coffin? It’s a fragment of Shad’s soul. It’s the very thing that killed Xavier. When his body turned to dust, the fragment became visible. It was difficult to remove, as it had attached itself to his body and thus, his soul.

When Aphmau pried it free, Laurance felt a sort of tugging at his chest. And when it was out, he felt a sharp stinging or burning sensation but after a moment he felt like he could breath clearer. He told none of this to anyone of course.

After she had it free, she tried to give it to Laurance to hold but it burned his hands. They later figured out that it burned all the Shadow Knight’s hands. For some, unknown reason, Shadow Knights specifically could not hold it.

Also it was Laurance and Aphmau who found the statue, which is ironic seeing as it’s quite literally them. Trust that they were confused.

But it served as more proof that Aphmau and Irene were connected…

okay one of my biggest headcanons for shadow knights is that you CANNOT touch their armor. it's so fucking hot, absolutely SCALDING. just getting near them will make your eyes water because of the heat.

i think this ends up making laurance touch averse (in addition to him being tortured) because he's terrified of hurting the people he cares about. garroth has permanent scarring on his hands from trying to drag laurance into phoenix drop the day ungrth saved him, and he'll be damned to ever let it slip.

OK SO ZANE IS COMPLETELY REWRITTEN UHH

Garte DIES a few years before the events of s1 in this, which sends Zianna spiraling and ... uh.. she maybe joins a cult <3 and also makes her son part of the cult (cult pope) <3 He gets to wear a pretty veil and a very creepy mask to hide his face <3

Zane (actually named Zuwellyn, Zane is the Irene equivalent of a baptismal name) is consistently being manipulated by the older cult members AND his mother (he's a mama's boy, ok?) from a very young age. A lot of the "random" evil stuff he does is either retconned or explained as him following his mother's orders to gain more power for O'Khasis (i.e. him giving Aaron's son that amulet that just kinda killed everyone).

He still officiates Donna and Logan's wedding, where he then meets Kiki, and they actually hit it off - they spend a lot of time together where Kiki starts to kinda get concerned about some of the stuff Zane says about the church of Irene and the members.

He lingers around Phoenix Drop for a while because of Garroth (who he confronts at some point for running away and just completely abandoning him and their mother along with dumping all of his responsibilities onto Zane).

A lot of the stuff isn't written out yet because I need to yap about it more to my friend so I can figure out what sounds good.

In my MCD rewrite Garrence's dynamic is Laurence making 'your mom' jokes, Garroth going 'my mom is dead :/' and Laurence just not knowing what to do after that, cause he can't tell if Garroth is joking or not.

And then they make out but that's not important-

[context: early season one. Aphmau and Garroth are walking through the Phoenix Drop plaza. Aphmau says it’s the next thing she’ll fix up, to which Garroth says it’ll give a better place to host events as opposed to Donna’s “brothel”]

“Donna’s house isn’t a brothel,” Aphmau said. She had told Garroth this many times. “And be careful what you say about it—I live there, too, you know.”

If Garroth weren’t wearing his helm, his bright pink cheeks would have made Aphmau laugh. “I-I never said it was a . . . a lady’s business, Lady Aphmau. I simply- Just- The other villagers enjoy referring to it as one.”

Aphmau laughed anyway. She enjoyed how easily flustered Garroth was. Garroth enjoyed how easily amused Aphmau was, and would gladly embarrass himself time and time again just to be able to hear the sweet bells of her joy.

in my rewrite i think it'd be pretty silly if garrancemau was true and real EXCEPT

its set up for garroths feelings to look like they're for aphmau, and even though he does admire her and is grateful for her being around, his feelings are actually for laurance

considering maybe some internalized homophobia?(garte's fault) so maybe he doesnt accept how he feels until near the time of his betrayal??

Chicken Shaman

OK, so I'm not really a rewrite myself BUT I've been thinking about what a rewrite of the Chicken Shaman would look like.

I love the idea of him being comedy relief, but I feel like the approach to it would have to be different than a minecraft roleplay would portray him to be taken seriously. Plus a lot of the humor and chemistry comes from him being one of Jess' friends I feel, which wouldn't really work so well for an Avra or Aphia or Aphara- whatever.

I really like the darker approach people are taking to Minecraft Diaries. Considering it was previous a minecraft letsplay for kids. Because when you really think about the lore it is REALLY DARK. So I want to continue that approach.

This of course extends to the chicken Shaman. I want to see a portrayal of him that is funny but in an off-putting way. In that "is it funny haha or funny boohoo" kind of way. Like the guy is CLEARLY unhinged in the original, but make it less in a harmless portrayal, so that the reader feels as unnerved and cautious as the characters should be by him. Make it so no one is truly sure if he will harm them or not.

AND LET THIS GUY BE A SHAMAN!!! I want to see some wild rituals, disturbing practises, and ominous beliefs. Some true viking sh*t! It would also be fun if you threw in some ominous prophecies in there threw him as well! I love prophecy tropes, especially vague ones. I think it would really set the tone for all the underline evils that Aphmau was Blissfully unaware of in S1 but would soon come to face as her world gets bigger and scarier. Or perhaps just little comments that just so happen to come true mysteriously.

I don't know if it's because I am binge watching Vikings & Vikings Valhalla right now, but I really crave this portrayal. I want to see some Floki behavior from Castor (if you know, you know). I want his mannerisms to be impulsive and erratic, and scary for all who don't really know him. But then you do know him, and he's still crazy but he's still your homie, and you love-hate him.

(Also if there was a "Hold The Door!!!" Plot Twist with Irene and Castor or something that would be AAAHHH 🤯 If you know, you know)

PART TWOOOO, Nana time <3

Nana is VERY different in this! Er. As different as she can be I suppose. She's a sovereign from Tu'La and acting as an ambassador for the region - Speaking using the royal We. (She also speaks Catspeak). Her magic, rather than just making little dolls come to life, is soul transference, meaning she can pull the soul out of someone and put it into another object/person.

Anyway story-wise: On Penelope (Aphmau)'s way back to Phoenix Drop from Scaleswind, she comes across Nana's camp just .... swarmed with dolls. Nana, being a noble, hasn't ever really taken care of herself before, and thus uses her dolls to do everything for her - which Penelope finds a bit disturbing, but she's easily won over by "Maid cafe.... for you <3". Penelope, after staying the night in Nana's camp, invites her to come stay in Phoenix Drop and they head back together.

katelyn first shows up to phoenix drop towards the end of season one under similar circumstances to canon mcd - jeffory's about to be executed for treason, and she's desperately trying to get his name cleared before he dies. however, when it becomes clearer and clearer to her that zane's using him as a scapegoat, she decides to turn on him and side with aphmau and the phoenix alliance ahead of the battle for phoenix drop.

in ashes, ashes, jurors were originally ordained through the bestowal of relics - however, after they went missing a couple of centuries after the first war of the magi, they pretty much became just. super politically powerful guards until about twenty years before the start of ashes, ashes, when the high priest of o'khasis at the time (zane's predecessor) figured out a way to bestow the powers of the juror relics to the jurors without using the relics themselves. anyway, its blood magick and it essentially brands the jurors with a seven-pointed star on their foreheads as a mark of the ritual being completed. katelyn hates what the ritual has turned her into - even though long hair is lowkey pretty impractical in a fight, she keeps hers long so that her mark is hidden (jeffory did the same, and garroth will also grow his hair out a little to cover his mark). when she transforms, a lot of the saturation in her skin in hair is drained out due to the magick not being suuuper holy (in fact, the first casting of the ritual upset the balance of the universe so much that it woke up the primordial gods n they sicked a plague on o'khasis that garte would later blame on tu'lan biological warfare). additionally, because the magick of the ritual sort of like. blends in? with any magicks or witchcraft already present in the juror their juror form will reflect this - katelyn has fire magicks, so when she transforms, her hair turns into this sort of sickly pale blue fire. her fire is hot enough that it burns blue anyway, but yeah.

katelyn burns her juror armour the minute she can once everyone gets out of the irene dimension. for a while, she just wears whatever she can scrounge up from around phoenix drop, but when cadenza finds out about this she gives katelyn this outfit! it's definitely done out of the kindness of her heart, there definitely aren't any ulterior motives don't worry. it's a lot more of a mercenary-ish look compared to her juror armour, but katelyn likes it just fine - especially since a certain flame-haired seamstress with a winning smile made it especially for her.

a little headcanon i have about katelyn - i feel like even though she isn't great at sewing, having grown up in a minor noble house in o'khasis, i feel like she would have some skills with textiles. specifically, i feel like she'd knit and/or crochet in her down time! before everyone heads out to gal'ruk, she knits everyone some mittens/scarves/socks/etc. not sweaters, though - she's loathe to admit it, but she's a firm believer in the sweater curse. otherwise, nothing much changes except that she throws on a coat and calls it a day - i like to think that, similar to laurance, she runs a little hotter than most people due to her fire magicks sort of acting as a bit of an internal furnace, so she doesn't need to bundle up quite as much as the others.

her day-to-day outfit is pretty much her standard guard outfit without the armour. she does wear an underbust corset/belt/thing with a small pouch attached, though - its very useful for carrying around knickknacks n stuff. otherwise, there's not much else to really comment on? idk. i probably shouldve added in some scars on her arms but its 11:30 pm at the time im writing this n ive spent way too long on this dang ref sheet already so yeah.

i decided to change up her conqueror form quite a bit - the form i drew in my original lineup of the second war's divine warriors wasn't really katelyn n looking back on it i shouldve spent more time trying to get it right. anyway, katelyn's mother was from southern tu'la, and was from a merchant family with some distant blood ties to the royal family - katelyn is technically related to the king of tu'la, but the relation is so distant that she doesn't really consider him (or any of the tu'lan nobles, really) to be blood relations. it's through this lineage, though, that she's able to resonate with menphia's relic, although it definitely helps that she's the second war's incarnation of the conqueror. mostly, the design notes from her first conqueror design remain the same - all i've really done is change the colour palette.

aaaand some headshots. i haven't exactly worked out how she got her facial scars - the big one was probably gotten on her first major assignment as a juror. however, it's nasty enough that when it healed it sort of fucked up her facial muscles - the scar tissue has permanently warped the right side of her mouth into a grimace, so anytime she makes a facial expression it's pretty lopsided (it's especially noticeable when she smiles). also, i changed the titling system for the jury to be more similar to the commonwealth knighthood system? like as much as i think "lady katelyn" is sick as fuck, the fact that it's the same title used for the female spouses of lords just sorta,,, didn't sit right? i guess? so yeah. dame katelyn.
