Story: 5 out of 5 Smut: 0 out of 5
Wow!
You know how sequels are usually dreaded because they never live up to the first? Well let me just say that this book did! Hell, it might even be better than the first!
I love how you get the story told from Millie’s POV in part one, and then in part two you get to hear from the housewife she’s trying to help before going back to Millie.
This book is wonderfully written and these twists are amazing. I didn’t think I would be surprised after book one, but I’m happy to say that I was!
I don’t know how I’m gonna wait half a year for the next installment. I need to see how Millie handles helping out the wives after what Wendy put her through.
Now here are my ramblings thoughts…
* “Tonight, I will be murdered.” // “It all started with a simple cleaning job. And now it might end with my blood being mopped off the cabin floor.”
* Amber is such a bitch. I’m glad her baby called Millie ‘mama’ lmao. She’s totally fired tho 😂
* Who tf is stalking Millie?
* Aww. Her and Enzo actually had a relationship before her move to New York! I’m so sad it didn’t work out.
* So Xavier is the creepy neighbor who knows Millie’s name even though she never told him.. 🤔 Suspicious. Very suspicious.
* Okay, I’m officially annoyed as fuck by Millie. Girl, it’s none of your damn business what goes on between a man and wife. Get in, do your job, and get out. Don’t ask questions.
* Knew Xavier was a creep.
* How convenient that the cops found a shit load of drugs in Xavier’s apartment. I have a feeling whoever is driving this black car with a cracked headlight did Millie a favor. IS IT ENZO?!
* Oh shit. Did Douglas beat the shit out of his wife..?
* How the fuck did Douglas even know about Millie if her housekeeping ad never went live…?!
* A friend gave WENDY her number?! Wendy totally knows Millie can help. Or not, if this mysterious friend didn’t tell her exactly how Millie can help.
* Ahh. Okay. So it was a previous client that helped her get away from her abusive husband. So that’s why Wendy had her called in.
* Okay, so… Wendy have Millie a very expensive bracelet to pawn because she hates it. And Millie dumbly took it, and kept it. Now Wendy SUDDENLY has this grand plan to escape her abusive husband. This feels icky. I’m starting to think the situation is not as it seems 🤔
* I do not like Brock and his urgency to settle down. I really miss Enzo lol.
* IT’S ENZO! I FUCKING KNEW IT! Oh my god, I’m so happy 😭
* You’re so fucking stupid! Why would you tell Enzo to stop watching out for you!? Oh my god 🤦🏻‍♀️ Now I want Douglas to kick your ass.
* Wendy’s back? She was a little too quickly, no? 🤔
* Did you seriously just shoot him?! Now your fingerprints are all over that gun. You’re so stupid, Millie!
* What the fuck!!!! Lmao. I knew that Wendy bitch couldn’t be trusted. Wtf!!!
* The man Millie shot isn’t Douglas?? I’m so fucking confused. And I knew Brock was a pussy! She needs to call Enzo asap.
* Soooo, Wendy’s a cunt. I don’t even wanna hear her side of the story lol. How dare she set up Millie like that.
* Douglas was a hopeless nerd? And a shit ton of money at his disposal?! And Wendy hated that!? Wtf. That’s the perfect man 🤦🏻‍♀️
* Wow. Wendy. You’re such a hoe.
* Holy shit. Douglas knew about the affair 😂
* Fuck! That wasn’t Douglas choking Wendy out, it was her affair partner Russell! And Millie shot him with blanks!!! Holy fuck.
* That really murdered her husband. What a cunt.
* He cut her out of the will!!!! Lmfao. She murdered him for nothing 😂
* Marybeth?! Russell’s wife!!! Lol. Oh I love this.
* Goddamn. It was Millie all along 😨

Book Review: The housemaid is Watching
The Housemaid is Watching- by Freida McFadden
This review will be spoiler free and is divided into sections of overall storytelling, my thoughts, and do I recommend it?
Tumblr media
Storytelling
The book starts off with a timeskip of 12 years, the protagonist Millie is now a mother of two kids and she moves into her dream home which was priced suspiciously low. Everything seems to be going great for her, a loving husband, beautiful children and a 'normal life' which she longed for all her life. The neighbours however, are far from normal. A flashy, overly-flirty real estate agent and an obnoxious old woman who keeps her son on a leash and has a peeping habit. Millie gets caught up in their shenanigans when the entire story takes a dark turn and someone is murdered and the culprit might be too close to home.
My thoughts
Now I know the description sounds promising but trust me, the book was not good. The previous two books of the series were great, and slightly worse respectively but this one, geez. I will not miss the first three quarters of the book and the last quarter is something I want to forget about.
It starts off with the daily activities of Millie's family making choco-chip pancakes and the kids missing school. Fine. It was then led by more choco-chip pancakes and baseball practice. Then starts the unnecessary drama about infidelity and insecurity. WHY. Whatever happened to gripping plots and suspense.
Now I will give credit where it's due, the saving grace was the murder angle and the investigation which I found interesting. However it does not last very long as the revelation is just bleh. Not even bad but infact lame. I had really high hopes from this book as Freida Mcfadden has shown excellent work with the previous two books but this one does not live upto the expectations.
Do I recommend it?
No, I know it must be very tempting to pick this up especially after the cliffhanger of the previous one but there's nothing about this book which makes me want to recommend it. Read my next blog on review of  "The Silent Patient".
PS: I would suggest the readers to not engage in hate towards the authors, this is just a piece of fiction and should not harbor any negativity for real people.

Ok I feel like I'm having a stroke so I need to talk about this somewhere.
There is this book called the Housemaid by Freida McFadden which I read this year and it's basically a thriller about a woman who starts working as a housemaid for a family and as it goes on she realises something isn't right with them etc. etc.
Then, when I went to the public library last week I saw this other book, the Maid by Nita Prose. At first I was like, oh had I remembered the title of the book wrong? But then realised that it were two different books, but let me tell you, the covers look pretty similar:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, they both have a zoomed in version of a door on it, the titles are almost the same and the kind of "she sees everything" phrase is also verrry similar. I'm not making this up.
So then I though wow, did one of these steal some ideas from the other? So i look up when the books were released and they were both released in 2022! Like, one in January the other in April!! I dont really know what to think anymore, but I guess they couldn't have really copied another this way?
On my short research trip through the internet I also discovered that there's another edition of the maid which has a slightly different cover:
Tumblr media
It Has A Fucking keyholeOn it tOO!!!!!
for comparison, this is the sequel to the Housemaid:
Tumblr media
like, I'm not imagining things??!!!
So I thought, okay, okay, I think it's pretty unlikely that nobody working for these publishers noticed this, it can't just be all a coincidence but I guess things like this happen?
the last straw was when I read the back of the book of the Maid.
It's a story about a maid who works in a hotel and finds a dead body there, which then leads to her investigating the murder. Like, it's a different plot, for sure, even though I think they could have been definitely further apart genre-wise etc.
But what really got me was that the Character in the Maid is called Molly.
The name of the main character in the Housemaid. is Millie.
like !!!this cannot all just be coincidence! I feel like I going crazy!!!!! I tried googling about both books but I couldn't find any connection whatsoever, nobody even talked about how the books could be confused with each other. i just . afhsnsdj Aaaargghd please if anyone knows anything about this I need to know it Can't be all coincidence, I'm refusing to believe that!

Looking for logic (in The Housemaid by Freida McFadden)
TL;DR: good premise, story was dragged out, the writing was good, plot twists truly came out of the blue. | 3/5 stars | The Housemaid is a story surrounding three main characters: Millie (the Housemaid™), the Wife Nina, and the Husband Andrew. Millie was living out of her car with barely any food eat, when she’s offered the job to be a live-in housekeeper at the rich Winchesters. At first…

Review:
⚠️spoilers⚠️
I’m noticing that Freida McFadden books are pretty predictable, however, her stories still manage to be entertaining and enjoyable. Her writing is very easy to read and keeps you hooked. This book is the first where I really came around to like a character. Other books I’ve read by her, I’ve hated the main character but I really liked Millie and by the end I loved Nina. I was onto Andrew from the very beginning. No privileged, rich business man is that nice. Nina’s story was a little heavy but I love that she got justice and was able to live freely with Cece. And my all time favorite character was Enzo. The way he looked out for Nina, Cece, and Millie while being clever enough to stay under the radar. Even though I predicted the twists, I think this is my favorite Freida book so far.

The housemaid
Okay, let's talk about the book the housemaid by Freida Mcfadden.
..
A young woman named Millie just got out of jail for the murder of a guy but it was sort of self-defense because the dude was forcing himself on the friend when the friend was saying no but he didn't stop so she grabbed a paperweight and hit him with it she got sentenced 10 years, By the time she got out she had to quickly find a job but many jobs didn't accept her because she was previously in jail, She became hopeless but then an opportunity of being a housemaid came up so she went to that interviewed and nailed it- She got worried because Nina ( Mrs. Winchester/andrews wife) didn't contact her back so she was currently still living in her car - When she got the job she immediately started and her love is in the attic but there's only a lock on the outside so she asked for a key because she was getting suspicious about that- Nina was starting lies about millie & saying how her daughter is allergic to peanut butter but in reality, she wasn't- She purposely made a mess so millie could reclean it up., Andrew and Nina were trying for a baby but they couldn't get pregnant, months later Millie and andrew grew feelings for each other which quickly made him wanna divorce nina because there wasnt a spark anymore- secrets came spilling out
..
( SPOILERS BELOW)
YALL I CANT BELIEVE HOW FRIEDA DID THAT PLOT TWIST LIKE- DAMN MISS GIRL I FELL IN LOVE WITH THRILLERS BECAUSE OF THAT FANTASTIC AUTHOR AND THE WAY ANDREW WAS THE BAD PERSON ALL ALONG AND HOW HE MADE NINA THINK SHE WAS THE CRAZY ONE WHEN HE WAS CRAZY LIKE WTH AND TOWARDS THE END WHEN HE TOLD MILLIE TO PUT 3 HEAVY BOOKS ON HER LOWER STOMACH FOR 3 HOURS AND IF SHE DIDNT DO THAT SHE WOULD STAY IN THAT ATTIC WITHOUT FOOD OR WATER AND HOW HE TOLD NINA TO RIP OUT 3 PIECES OF HAIR WITH THE ROOT FROM HER HEAD AND IF SHE DIDNT OBEY SHE WOULD STAY IN THE ATTIC FOR LONGER & THAT WHEN NINA NEEDED TO FIND A REPLACEMENT TO LEAVE HIM FOR GOOD AND SHE HIRED MILLIE TO BE THE REPLACEMENT AND TO KILL HIM WITHOUT MILLIE KNOWING. IT WAS EPIC.
------
LOTS OF LOVE, Gianna<33.

Freida McFadden: Sie wird dich finden
Tumblr media
Freida McFadden: A téboly otthona (Millie Calloway 1.)

Story: 5 out 5 Smut: 0 out of 5
Wow. What the hell did I just read?!
One moment I think I have things figured out, then the next I’m questioning what I think I know. And then I’m back to thinking I was right in the first place, and oh my god!
This book is amazing. I loved it.
At first I didn’t wanna continue reading because Nina Winchester rubbed me the wrong way, but then when I picked up the book for the second time, the suspense had me in a chokehold and I read 200+ pages in one sitting.
If you love suspense and questioning what you think you know, then pick up this book asap. You won’t regret it.
Now here are my rambling thoughts:
* “If I leave this house, it will be in handcuffs. I should have run for it while I had the chance. Now my shot is gone. Now that the police officers are in the house and they’ve discovered what’s upstairs, there’s no turning back.”
* Oohhhhh, I’m intrigued. What’s upstairs?
* So the landscaper is… weird. Was he trying to warn her?
* Wtf is on Millie’s record that’s preventing her from being hired anywhere 🤔
* Prison?! Ooohh, girl. What did you do?
* Landscaper is definitely trying to warn her. What is going on in the Winchester house?
* Yeah… Nina is cuckoo. Get out of there, Millie!
* The daughter Cecelia is a little twat.
* What the fuck is Nina’s problem? I really hope it’s her body they find that was in the prologue. Fuck this bitch.
* Woo. Nina is pissing me the fuck off.
* Those PTA moms are a bunch of backstabbing bitches. But at least we know that Nina truly is crazy.
* Goddamn. She tried to kill her own daughter?!
* Okay, on a side note, is Nina really crazy? Everyone says there’s twists in this story so now I’m thinking the husband is just too good to be true. If he’s the one with the money and has a prenup, then why is he putting up with Nina’s bat shit crazy antics? What’s it in for him to keep that relationship going? If anything, it’s Nina who would be doing everything to please her husband, but it’s the husband trying to please her? Wtf is going on?
* So no baby for Nina. Isn’t that a good thing?
* Uh oh. There was a zing between Millie and Andrew. They’re definitely gonna bone lol.
* They’re drunk and kissing 🤦🏻‍♀️ Nina’s gonna have a shit fit when she finds out because let’s be real… SHE WILL!
* Called it. Nina totally knows 😂 And she just outed Millie as being an ex-convict. I was originally rooting for Millie, but you don’t sleep with married men. Smh. And Andrew is rubbing me the wrong way now.
* Oh shit. Andrew kicked Nina out 😨 He wants a divorce! Things are about to get way ugly.
* Lmao. Who the fuck is Enzo and what does he know!?!
* Damn. He fucked her in the attic and then what.. locked her in..?
* Wait… Nina’s happy to have gotten rid of Andrew? IS ANDREW THE BAD GUY?!
* Holy. Fuck. He locked Nina in the attic when they were first married. ANDREW IS THE BAD GUY!!! But why the fuck was Nina such a bitch to Millie after hiring her? I’m so confused.
* Ohhhhh. And now it all makes sense. I can’t believe Enzo was in on it. At least he wants to help Millie now, but fuck… they shouldn’t have done that to her to begin with.
* Holy shit! Nina is way fucking smarter than I gave her credit for.
* Fuckkkkk. Nina took the fall.
* The detective!!! Oh my god!!
* Goddamn. Andrew’s mom is the true psycho 😬
* Fuckkkk. She took on another job with a housewife being abused. Nina recommended her to the new client. She’s the housemaid assassin lol. Wtf!!!!

Book review: The housemaid's secret
The Housemaid's Secret- by Freida McFadden
This review will be spoiler free and is divided into sections of overall storytelling, my thoughts, and do I recommend it?
Tumblr media
Storytelling
The book starts with the POV of someone who is about to get murdered which did garner my attention. It is followed by a description of a mundane job with a family which felt like a totally unnecessary filler. After that starts the actual storyline where Millie, our protagonist from the previous book is now working with another family as a housemaid where the wife suspiciously remains mostly sick and locked in her room. The constant clues she finds in the house which suggests something sinister is happening behind closed doors fiddles with your imagination.  It starts off very promising and makes you want to read more. It did have unnecessary romance, the majority of which contributes nothing to the story. Some characters felt out of  place but the overall experience makes up for it.
My thoughts
A true-crime episode is what I would call it. The build up is absolutely amazing with good pacing and variation, it gets your hopes high. The odd things Millie notices in the house, a black mazda following her, the disturbing dynamic of the family, sets the atmosphere.
However, the revelation is a big turn-off. It looks like a youtube episode of a crime show we have watched over and over again, typical. But luckily the last part was the saving grace for me. It was intense and filled with "what's next" moments. Some scenes involving the police and the investigation felt very interesting to read. Overall, I think it did keep up with the legacy of "The housemaid"  because some scenes left a profound impact which mostly overshadowed the lack of depth in the plot. Before ending the book the author leaves a question in our minds as food for thought which leads to nowhere as seen in the sequel.
Do I recommend it?
If you have nothing better to do and have a day's worth of time then yes you should read this. If you do, I would suggest skipping most of the monologues and unnecessary relationship drama and focus on the overall story. Read my next blog for review of the sequel "The housemaid is watching".

The Housemaid's Wedding | Freida McFadden | Published 2024
Tumblr media
Today is supposed to be the happiest day of my life.
I'm engaged to the man of my dreams, and in a few short hours, I'm going to stand before a judge, who will declare us husband and wife, till death do us part. Despite some bumps in the road, this day is everything I dreamed it would be.
There's only one problem.
Someone out there doesn't want me to live long enough to say my vows.
And if I'm not careful, they may very well get their wish.
The Housemaid's Wedding is a winter-themed short story meant to fill in the long gap between Book 2 of the series and Book 3. It can be read either between Book 2 and Book 3 or after Book 3.
Millie Calloway, the young woman who has helped several woman in abusive and terrible marriages escape their husbands for greener pastures, awakens on an early December morning, several months pregnant, and preparing for her wedding day. But, a phone call from a phone number she doesn't recognize begins to put a damper on what is meant to be the happiest day of her life: a man who wants to end her life.
Millie spends the morning before her 11:30AM wedding terrified of this man, and worrying about her wedding dress that failed to fit perfectly that morning due to her growing baby bump. Enzo, her fiance, promises to have the dress fixed by a tailor friend he knows. Even worse, Millie is preparing to reunite with her parents after 15 long years apart. They lost contact with Millie after she spent time in prison protecting a friend of hers, and now that she is getting married and expecting her first baby, she wants nothing more than to have her parents be a part of their lives.
However, Millie's disappointments continue after her parents change their mind. When she notices a strange man having followed her from the cafe nearby to the front steps of Manhattan City Hall, she confronts him, believing him to be the one who has been making the threatening phone calls. But, he explains that Millie had helped his sister get out of her horrid marriage, and that her life had been saved because of her. Now without witnesses to their wedding, they ask this man, Paul, to step into Millie's parents place and he happily agrees.
After they are married, preparing to head home to celebrate, Enzo catches sight of a man and follows him into the restroom. It is here that he confronts this man, who has been following them since they left the cafe to head to City Hall. This man explains that Millie took everything from him, that he is now being forced to pay child support in excess of a lot of money. Enzo, ever the protector, tells this man to leave his wife alone, and that if he sees him again, he will kill him.
