Got any re8 Heisenberg headcanons? (I definitely am so normal about him)
Don't worry, I'm completely normal about him too.
Ethan works with Karl to stop Miranda, but they aren't exactly friends after that, but they learn to like each other.
Chris was originally was going to put Karl into the military as a living bioweapon, but with enough convincing. Ethan got him to just let stay with him and Rose. They're roommates now.
Karl is thankful for Ethan to help him avoid that fate, but he is still frustrated on how his life is in someone's hand. Now he has to listen to Ethan or run the risk of being killed or weaponized. So the anger is the living arrangement is mutual.
Karl tends to be untrusting of everyone, like a feral stray dog. So Karl stays in the basement and minds his business.
Ethan and Mia had a mutual divorce, The relationship was built on rocky ground, and they understand that. But what Mia doesn't understand is why Ethan would have this moldy hobo live with him, and frankly- he doesn't know either.
Karl was a stinky man. His hands are rough and dry, chipped sharp nails that seem to always have something underneath them despite that fact of him wearing gloves most of the time. He covered in a layer of grease, sweat and car oil, smells like copper, gasoline, sweat, cigars, rain dew and a hint of mold and rot. LOVEY ISN'T IT! A sensory overload dream. His hair WILL make a crunchy noise if touched, and don't bother trying to comb through it.
Ethan made sure that his mf got a shower with some actual soap. He may look the same but trust in the fact if you were in a room with him, you'll actually be able to hug him without getting high from the gasoline.
Karl's hair gets so fluffy when conditioned.
It took months before Ethan trusted Karl in watching Rose or let alone hold her.
Karl LOVES sweets.
He originally didn't know about Home Depot because Ethan was worry that there will quickly be no Home Depot.
There's no longer a Home Depot.
Heisenberg will melt when he hears Rose's first words.
The day that Heisenberg finds out what a Samsung fridge is- IT'S OVER!
Heisenberg lived off of military ration meals till now, so he has to resort to the next best thing here: hungry man TV dinners. And kid cuisine when Rose goes into solid food.
HE CAN COOK! To be particular, grill. But he's kinda going through that depression that led you to not take care of himself.
Karl HATES the rain, It rusts all his metal, and he is in content risk of getting struck by lightning, He's a living lightning rod. Ethan tries to be nice and help him by giving him a rubber rain suit, leading him to wear three layers of protection: fishing overalls, rain boots, raincoat, rubber gloves, rain hat and a rubber poncho.
You can hear him from a mile away with all that rubber squeaking.
Heisenberg surprisingly was a virgin for a long time, and it makes sense. He was too busy in his factory to be with anyone romantically nor platonically, let alone get laid. He never really cared till he thought about it now, especially when Ethan has living proof that he fucked. *CUT TO FUNNY KARL SPEED DATING SEQUENCE* this is probably a very sharp contrast to others hc of karl but idc it's my hc
Heisenberg and Ethan have that opposite attract dynamic, Karl gets to teach him that life doesn't end or need to be tense just because they're mole zombies. While Ethan teaches Karl to unpack his years trauma, cuz that shit will come to haunt you.
Ethan found some room for Heisenberg to sleep upstairs instead.
Eventually Ethan gets so close with Heisenberg he actually starts calling him by his first name.
That was noticed by Mia and Chris, which made them nervous in where Ethan loyalty would lie when something were to happen.
Heisenberg never had clean water before, so just imagine him with the crisp 3am water.
Chris only allows Karl to experience the outside monthly. But Ethan sneaks Karl with him when he can. As long, he doesn't scare anyone in town.
Karl is like a caveman entering the present day, He's culture shock is out of this world.
He loves the phrase "metal as fuck."
When Karl has a nightmare he rearrange his room to push all the metal out or nap in the living room. When Karl and Ethan got closer he started sleeping in Ethan's room. Even though their hearts beat slow, the human warmth is still there.
Karl never wants to talk about what his nightmare was about or why he feels better sleeping in a room with less metal.
Here some songs that I always relate to Heisenberg:
Now I'm about to go into what my hc is for Heisenberg before re8.
tw body horror and child abuse
I have the headcanon that Karl wasn't from the village, but his family was. He was born in the states and unknowingly has the genes that make him very susceptible to the mold mutation. Eventually, after his grandfather died and passed the factory/mines to his parents, they all moved to Europe. Explaining the contrasting transatlantic accent.
But like all things, Miranda had to ruin. She noticed the newcomers of the village; she saw how they also have a child and decided to take action. Miranda killed Karl Heisenberg's parents and took him in to experiment on with the cadou parasite.
His gift was unknown till one check up later after all of his complaints of feeling of something tearing into him. Miranda realized that there seems to be scraps of metal like nuts and bolts dug and tear through into his body to his bones like a magnet.
When he's in is REM sleep, his electromagnet powers moves and attract scraps of metal to him. Leaving him to wake up with blood on his sheets, but the wound already healed like nothing happened. But Karl does know it feels harder to move every day.
Miranda made sure to test him on his gift. He looks completely human and is powerful, he was almost perfect… The one single flaw in him is the fact that even as a helpless child that had no one else to rely on but her. He still hated her.
Heisenberg was the youngest of the four lords and the favorite, and he hated it. Dude would just spend all his time by himself, leaving himself tape recorders. He eventually started to entertain himself as if he was a radio host. The theater kid possesses him.
Eventually when he got older he got into contact with The Duke and was able to purchase tapes and machinery scraps from him. The tapes turned out to be American documents of ww2, leading Heisenberg to his American freedom fighter rhetoric.
When he detransform from his big monster form, he has to go get a lil help. He has to get rid of the pieces of metal without just tearing off pieces of his flesh, That shit is hard to grow back you know!

military moth costume?! enquiring minds want to know more
Yeah! It's basically just selecting an assortment of military gear that makes me look like a moth.
Currently I have just a ghillie hood. If you wear it hood down you get a big neck ruff like a moth.
I haven't decided yet on how I want to implement wings yet. I'm debating between a rain cape/poncho and the built in attachment points on the ghillie hood for a sniper cape. I'm leaning towards the former because it's a bit wackier and more wing-like, and would differentiate from the hood better.
Possibly a big black headset to evoke eyes? I'd prefer large round goggles, but I haven't been able to find a modern pair unfortunately. I'd probably have to find something from wwii if I wanted round goggles.
Ostrich feathers for the antennae. They're not military of course, but I think they're important. (Unless anyone knows of actual equipment that looks like them?)

My vision
I also have a FAST helmet that I used to use for airsoft. (I only went like three times, didn't like it. I hate sweating in the sun. I'd probably enjoy it more if it were cold.) I am currently refitting it for skiing, with an emphasis on wind protection. Simplest way to mothify it is with antennae. And then I could probably just throw on a snow cape and call it a day.

got pissed today unable to find nice clothes on swtor so! it's time for more Eight/Echani clothing hcs and a little fashion lesson!
As an echani duelist, I liked the idea that warriors and commoners wear the same everyday outfit with different additions, so of course I had to default to what is worn in kendo/iaido/most japanese martial arts: the gi and hakama. Besides being known as a uniform, it was worn everyday in the Edo period by everyone-- if you were more formal, you would wear more layers over it like the Haori (outer jacket).

The skirt here is the hakama, with 7 pleats that are said to represent the foundation of bushido, or the warrior code. For lorebuilding purposes, and since it aligns neatly with the 10 echani martial art tiers, we can say echani hakama have 10 pleats instead. As for what word we'd call hakama in star wars/swtor...well, let's think of that later. Besides being a comfy piece of legwear, it connects your upper half with your lower with its built in belts and is the place where one puts their scabbard through. Contrary to star wars, swords do not just clip onto any belt and hang vertically down.

The naga juban here is the cotton undershirt worn beneath your kimono to wick your sweat and keep it clean; depending on the martial art, some wear it by itself, and some wear it beneath a gi. As shown in the picture, it is worn regularly with fashion as well. Something to note is that men wear hakama lower on their waist than women, who wear hakama much closer to their chest just like their obi.
As the Echani are matriarchal, I imagine the popular style would be reversed, or that one can choose how to wear their hakama based on gender presentation. For Eight, he would wear it a little higher up to show he retains the femininity of his teachers as an act of respect.

This is a very basic way of tying hakama, women's style: since the side slits here are long, this is a priestess' garb.
Now we come back to the question of adapting this to SWTOR and having a more "sci-fi" feel: while there are countless robes and ways to wear hakama-haori in real life history and SW itself, perhaps for Eight it would be something like a juban woven out of sheer synth-material with a plastic-y shine to it that goes over the top of his revealing bodysuit undergarments and protects from the rain like those clear ponchos, while the hakama is made out of whatever signature black cloth sith lords seem to favor with sharper pleats for an Imperial feel. Hakama in the Taisho period were mixed with military uniform in wartime, so standard military boots won't feel out of place for Eight's as well. Maybe the sheer synth-material juban even turns clear only when hit with moisture as a way of spreading it evenly...
Alas, admin's ideas are impossible to draw, and slightly finicky to describe.
#swtor#oc: orradiz#while I *like* Handmaidens' outfits they're more representative of Atris than much else but I do like the ice queen theme#there's such an elegant shape to female hakama that's super cute...as a male even I want to wear it#this would be SLIGHTLY too um distracting for a training outfit but it would be normal in echani standards bc it shows a clear view#of the body while not being so revealing you're just naked and has martial arts clothing included#i'd also headcanon an admiring echani sith gifted it to him as formalwear (for their culture's standards) but clueless as he was#to being wooed he just accepted it anyways and then was confused when watcher 2 said he was showing too much skin. lol#sorry i like including my experiences to what i write hahaaha

Thunderstorms. (Pt. 1)
It happens a few weeks into staying with the Pacha clan and attending Kuzco Academy. Torrential rain blankets the tropical region of the Peruvian highlands for several days in a row, pounding down against the Earth as if the Sun God himself were displeased with them and showing it through the weather. Water lashes in thick rivulets against the huts in Pacha’s village, threatening the very foundations of the fieldstone and mud based structures. One could almost consider it soothing; rhythmic in its intensity and constant drumming against the modest dwellings were it not for the fierce, howling wind that accompanies it. Several of the huts in the village lose their thatch roofing in the storms, the winds carrying the water reeds and rushes within their grasp and scattering them amongst the surrounding hilltops like confetti.
Peasants rush wildly out into the violent winds and pouring rain in an attempt to fix their roofing, spending grueling hours battling against the conditions to make reinforcements so their huts will not be in danger of flooding overnight. Ordinarily, in a storm this severe the Palace is notified, and funds and food storages are made immediately available to the villages affected by such devastating forces. Guards and the military are sent out to assist them with whatever else is needed, including repairing any damage to the village or assisting the villagers with searching for lost family members, livestock or pets, if necessary. With how quickly the storm sets in, there’s little to no time to prepare– and most everybody, including those still living in the palace, are forced to buckle down and wait it out wherever they can find shelter until it passes. Unfortunately for Kuzco, that means that he’s stuck for the time being in the meager accommodations of a peasant's hut, in a remote hilltop village far away from the safety of said palace. Luckily for him– or unluckily, depending on how you look at it– Chaca and Tipo weren’t home. Call it bad timing, but they had been sent away for the week to a Junior Chipmunk camping and survival retreat with their troop leader, and weren’t expected back for several days yet. Possibly even longer, depending on when the storm finally cleared. Pacha and Chicha were beside themselves with worry, with Chicha threatening to head out and find the group herself if it meant making sure her kids were okay. Pacha talked her out of it thankfully, but with no way of communication there was no telling what it was exactly that they were going through. This of course left Kuzco alone in his attic bedroom, and any other time he’d be thrilled to have the room to himself, but without the children there to annoy him he’s never felt more alone in his life. Well, almost never. Memories come flooding back to him unbidden as he stares up at the ceiling, of his wet fur mottled with dirt and debris clinging to his lanky frame as he sits alone on that mound of mud in the middle of the tropical jungle. All at once it’s like he’s back in that moment, whimpering to himself as he stares at his surroundings, a hoof reaching up in a too human gesture of comfort to brush against his opposite arm. Rain pelts against his head and obscures his vision, and he can’t tell the difference anymore between the rainwater and the tears pouring from his eyes, so he closes them against the onslaught of both. He’s cold all over– even more so than the first night when Pacha was kind enough to cover him with his poncho despite his taunting and demands, and he resigns himself to his fate; that he’s never going to be warm again. The thought numbs him as much as the cold mud beneath him does, and after a moment he gives up and lets his weight fall to the side, bringing his long legs closer to his chest and wrapping his ‘arms’ around them so he can comfortably bring his head and neck down against them as well. It’s an awkward fetal position, but it manages to save the little bit of body heat he has left.

Fooooor the recent writer's questions:
6 (AD&VD), 12 but both for smut and general, 18 (SbS), 26, 34, 50!
6. What’s one fact about the universe of A Dark & Verdant Door that you didn’t get a chance to mention in the fic itself?
I didn’t really get a chance to explore Yaz’s world beyond Sheffield, or the world the Warden is from, since those were beyond the scope of that story. Things that would be fun to think about/write about would be the politics of Yaz’s world, what was up with her early military training, maybe some sort of new conflict arising from the history that I threw hints at with the ruins around the town. And the Warden, well there’s not much DW canon to draw from on the Doctor’s place of origin, so that would just be me pulling a world of shapeshifters out of a hat and making up a bunch of stuff about it. Which sounds FUN.
12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you? (smut and general)
For a DW-specific general trope, I’d say I’ve never really liked fobwatch fics, and yet I find myself playing with the concept in something I’m working on currently. (Sort-of. Because it’s also an AU. And very hard to describe.)
Smut-wise, hm, that’s actually a difficult question, I tend to stay not-interested in the few things I’m not interested in… I’ll say roleplay scenarios in general might be growing on me a bit.
18. If you wrote a sequel to Star by Star, what would it involve?
Oh you got me with this one, because I have a pretty robust outline just sitting here in my google docs folder… It involves the growing conflict between the Alliance and Gallifrey, money problems, more of Theo’s secrets, and an increasingly complicated quest gallivanting across the galaxies to find Theo a new cybernetic heart.
26. Would you rather write a fic that had no dialogue or one that was only dialogue?
If I had to choose, I’d go with no dialogue, because you can pry action and description from my cold, dead hands! I think I could still get my point across writing something like that. Hmm… that one’s going into the “concepts that interest me” file…
34. What aspects of your writing are inspired by/taken from your real life?
Any time you find me waxing poetic about art or throwing art-related terms into a story, that’s because of my background in fine arts. The way plants creep into every story is mostly cause I think they’re neat, but also because of childhood summers spent building forts out of branches and my current obsession with gardening. Other weird ideas come from reading approximately 1 zillion books and mixing and matching bits and pieces of them with stuff I’m interested in!
50. Answer any question of your choice, or talk about anything you want to talk about!
I’ll answer "49. What are you currently working on? Share a few lines if you’re up for it!"
One of the many projects I've been juggling lately is an western-fantasy AU that I’m going to have a hell of a time tagging if I ever get it done. I’ll throw in a little bit to try and get the vibes across:
“I know what you are.”
Does she, now? How can that be possible?
Deep shadows under Grace’s eyes betray her exhaustion, but her gaze is pointed, dangerous. “I should have seen it last night. But the Oncoming Storm only appears under the light of the full moon. Why are you still here?”
She’s sharp; not that Yaz isn’t, but Yaz is young. Not experienced in the way Grace is.
“I don’t know,” they say. “I seem to be stuck.”
Grace paces to the end of the porch, boots thumping against the boards. She leans on the rail and looks out over the street. “I’m sorry.” She glances back, then to the street again. Rain dampens her shirtsleeves, droplets hang in the threads of her poncho. “I think we might have tethered you here, somehow, when we summoned you.”
Thanks for the asks!

i have fantastic news for you all. let me introduce you to...

the PONCHO LINER! also known informally (and correctly) as the Woobie™
here's the story
growing up, my dad was in the military. i'm talking army. infantry. on the ground, going out in the field, the works. served two tours in iraq, spent some time in south korea, even did a stint in panama. and this thing? this thing was his LIFELINE.
they call it a poncho liner because you theoretically wear it under a poncho, to insulate you while you're out marching to battle in the rain or camping in the rain or whatever i dunno, i wasnt there. it's got these nifty strings on all the corners and on every edge, so you can tie it around your wrists and ankles if you like or whatever you wanna do.
the cool thing about it? it also functions as.... a blanket
now, my dad gave his old woobie (it looks a lot like the one shown above; the new ones have the more modern camo design) to my old dog heinz, and he slept on that bad boy every day. but heinz passed in 2016, and my parents had no idea what to do with his woobie. they just knew it was painful to have around. so i said screw it, i'll put it in my room and just keep it out of sight. and i did, but then like six months later i found it again. it still smelled a bit like heinz and it was kinda comforting to have, so i started using it as my own blanket.
and oh.
my.
god.
this thing is the best. it's light, so you can honestly take it anywhere. itll keep you warm, but it's also breathable so you can use it any time of year in any temperature and it'll function as an appropriate blanket. and they're fairly durable—ive had mine for eight years and my dad had it for many years longer, and it's got some holes in the ends and a bit of the insulation has come out but it still does its job just fine.
so in short, acquire a woobie. they are THE blanket.
they should invent blankets that make you feel warm (good) but don't make you feel warm (bad)

Tornado Emergency Preparedness – What to Do and Who to Call

Avoid being unprepared for the devastation and calamity tornadoes cause when they touch down and roar through your community. Knowing how to prepare and what to expect during and after such a disaster will help get you quickly on your feet.

New Image Roofing Atlanta assembled this comprehensive guide for tornado preparedness, damage mitigation, and recovery.
Tornado Watch Vs. Tornado Warning

When weather conditions are primed for tornado formation, the National Weather Service (NWS) will issue advisories to all communities in that area. Some people still confuse the difference between a watch and a warning. Consider the following explanations:
Tornado Watch – issued by the NWS when weather conditions in an area suggest an increased severe weather risk capable of producing a tornado.
Tornado Warning – The NWS releases a Tornado Warning when a tornado has been observed or detected by weather radar. A warning means you should immediately seek shelter.
Tornado Preparedness

Tornadoes are unpredictable and destructive natural forces that can wreak havoc on homes and communities. Being prepared for these emergencies is crucial to ensuring your loved one’s safety and minimizing potential damages. Here’s how you can stay a step ahead:
Create and Rehearse an Emergency Plan – Develop a detailed emergency plan including a designated safe room or shelter in or near your home. Practice tornado drills with your family to ensure everyone knows what to do and where to go when a tornado warning is issued.
Put Together an Emergency Kit (Evacuation Go-Bag) – Assemble a comprehensive emergency kit containing essentials like water, non-perishable food, first aid supplies, flashlights, batteries, clothes, important documents, and medications. Keep the kit in your designated safe area for easy access during a tornado.
Creating an evacuation go-bag is a crucial step in emergency preparedness. In times of crisis, having a well-equipped bag ready to go can make a significant difference. Here are the essential items for an emergency kit or evacuation go-bag:

Fortify Your Home – Consider reinforcing your home by installing storm shutters, impact-resistant windows, and a reinforced roof. These measures can help minimize damage caused by strong winds and flying debris.
Tornado Damages – Roof and Home

Tornadoes impact varied locations across the country every year, bringing tremendous winds and destruction (from minor cosmetic damages to catastrophic structural failures) in their paths. Although tornadoes are most common in the Central Plains, the Midwest, and the Southeast, they have been reported in all 50 states. Consider the following hazards:
Wind Damage – Tornadoes generate powerful winds capable of causing extensive roof, gutter, siding, and window damage. Check for loose or missing shingles, damaged gutters and siding, and broken windows after a tornado has passed.
Tip: Have your roofing system thoroughly inspected by a professional roofer and repaired or reinforced before a storm system ravages your community.
Flying Debris – Tornadoes can lift and hurl debris at high speeds, leading to significant structural damage. Inspect your property for signs of impact, like dents or punctures in the roof, siding, and windows.
Note: Keep all lawn furniture and decorations safely stored when not in use and move potted plants indoors when the weather looks ominous.
Tip: Have trees annually inspected and pruned to keep them healthy and sturdy.

Water Damage – Tornadoes are often accompanied by hail and significant rainfall. Inspect your home for water leaks and damage to ceilings, walls, and floors. Promptly address any water-related issues to prevent mold and further deterioration.
Structural Damage – Tornadoes can compromise a home’s structural integrity. Look for leaning walls, sagging ceilings, or any potential foundation issues. Structural damages should be addressed promptly to avoid costly problems.

Emergency Services (Post Tornado)
After experiencing a tornado’s immense power and destruction, you may experience a sense of helplessness. The following services will help you get your bearings:
Emergency Response Teams – After a tornado, local emergency response teams and agencies will be on the scene to provide immediate assistance. Follow their instructions and seek shelter in designated areas.
Medical Assistance – In a tornado’s aftermath, medical assistance may be required. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will be deployed and on hand to provide aid and attend to any injuries promptly.
Utility Restoration – Contact utility companies to report gas leaks, electrical issues, or water supply disruptions. Strictly avoid using damaged utilities until they have been inspected and deemed safe by professionals.
Community Support – Local community centers, churches, and shelters may provide assistance, including food, water, clothing, transportation, and temporary housing. Stay informed about available resources and support services in your area.

Having a list of important emergency numbers readily available is crucial during a natural disaster or any emergency situation. Ensure that all family members are aware of the following numbers, and consider keeping a printed copy in your emergency kit. Here’s a list of key emergency numbers:
Emergency Services – 911 – This universal emergency number can be dialed for immediate assistance from police, fire, medical, and other emergency services.

At least 11 people have died and 13 others are missing in torrential rains in Beijing as China braces for the third typhoon in as many weeks.
The remnants of last week's super storm Doksuri flooded Beijing for the fourth straight day on Tuesday even as another typhoon approached the eastern coast.
More than 50,000 people in the city have been evacuated so far, according to state media.
The flooding has hit several districts, disrupting train services and traffic.
At least a dozen people were killed in the Philippines and Taiwan as Doksuri passed through at the end of last week on its way to China.
Heavy rains are likely to persist this week, and flooding could worsen in northern regions around Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province, the emergency management ministry has warned.
At least nine people have died in Hebei, officials say.
Relentless rain over the weekend broke daily precipitation records at 14 weather stations in Beijing and the northern provinces of Hebei, Shanxi and Shandong.
Chinese authorities have not announced an official toll of victims or reported how many are missing outside the capital city.
Military helicopters were deployed in the early hours of Tuesday to deliver emergency food supplies and ponchos to people stranded in and around a train station in the hard-hit Mentougou district in western Beijing, CCTV reports.
Around 150,000 households in the district are reported to be without running water.
Nearly 400 flights on Tuesday were cancelled and hundreds delayed at Beijing's two airports, according to flight tracker app Flight Master.
Footage shared online by residents in the surrounding Hebei province show swathes of land engulfed by floods.
Residents in several neighbourhoods in Hebei's Zhouzhou county have reportedly been trapped, some for almost 24 hours, as rescue workers are unable to reach them.
On Monday, state television published a clip of the dramatic rescue of a man clinging to an overturned car caught in raging floodwaters in Wu'an city, also in Hebei. The man and his car were pinwheeling down a flooded river before he was lifted to safety by a helicopter.
Like many parts of the world, China has been seeing extreme heat and rain in recent weeks, which some scientists have linked to climate change.
Doksuri made landfall in China's south-east Fujian province on Friday, triggering landslides and floods before moving north towards the capital. Hundreds of thousands of Fujian residents were evacuated.
Doksuri, which came a week after typhoon Talim, also led to mass closures of schools and workplaces across the province.
China's Meteorological Bureau said Beijing saw a deluge of about 170.9mm (6.7in) between Saturday night and noon on Monday, the equivalent of the average rainfall for the entire month of July.
There is little relief with typhoon Khanun on the horizon. It is expected to enter the East China Sea on Wednesday before moving to China's coastal provinces, Zhejiang and Fujian.

The Somerset Branch of The Masonic Fishing Charity held another awesome event at Jacklands Fishing Lakes Tickenham on Friday the 14th of July 2023.
We started off with a heart breakfast, tea and coffee laid on by Jacklands Fishing Lakes.
This was a first for the MTSFC, instead of it being a SEN school event for children we did a veterans Day, working in association with a local veterans charity, the Military, Emergency, Self, Help or MESH as they are know, check out their website if your a veteran or want to volunteer www.meshcic.co.uk.
We had ten veterans on the day, we started off with our usual safety talk and handed out the goody bags with hats, goggles, whistles and ponchos, actually the poncho's came in very handy as it lashed down with torrential rain all day, in true military style this did not put the dampeners on the day, most of my team here in the Somerset Branch are veterans themselves so we just danced in the rain.
Both the Somerset MTSFC Branch and MESH team had high jovial spirits from the start, pairing up my caster volunteers one to one with a MESH fisherperson, the military banter and Cameraderie began immediately, right away the wagers were set for biggest fish, smallest, ugliest fish etc, a mug of tea was the prize,I will say the rain actually made the spirit of the day higher and more challenging.
We had a wonderful BBQ style lunch in the Jacklands Farm Shop Cafe, with lots of piping hot tea and coffee, we then headed out for some more course and fly fishing.
The afternoon finished with a wonderful certificate and medal presentation from Somerset Province very own APGM Richard Winter a veteran himself, and Somerset Branch Chairman Rob Collins, this recieved a rapturous standing ovations and applause.
Jason Miller the head honch and pointy hat wearer of MESH then did a presentation of their of, this time to the Somerset Branch of the MTSFC, everyone got a MESH plaque and slate coaster, Jason then presented Rob Collins with a Masonic engraved bottle of vintage port, with even more applause.
This day over for the MTSFC we bid goodbye to MESH with lots of smiles, but for MESH this was not over as they went back to their base camp in the woods near Bristol Airport.
Under the canvas of a parachute they sat around a camp fire, prepared their trout they caught with us and ate like kings and queens, I am told the laughter, chatting and Cameraderie was second to none as the rain lashed down outside, for a short while these comrade's in arms who had served our country well had found some peace in a day put on by Freemasonry and especially The Somerset Branch of the Masonic Fishing Charity.
I know our branch loved the day and we will be doing this again next year for our veterans, but we need your help, volunteers and helping raise funds in your lodges.
Please get in touch if you can help in anyway possible email us at [email protected]
