So, this is for 2020 series!Siegfried.

I remember reading a tumblr anecdote regarding an old woman talking about her cousin, whose parents just quietly allowed him to socially transition as a youngster, "taking away" their daughter one year, just to reappear with a son. And the community didn't really question it, and the family looked back fondly on the man that child had become and how he was happy.

I'd like that for Siegfried. Family a little confused, but ultimately supportive. Him being clever and initially a little reckless with figuring out DIY HRT when he becomes a vet (let's pretend T gets synthesized some decades earlier than in our world). Being stealth as a soldier in WW1, getting a reputation for being protective of the "baby-faced" recruits that crossed his path, most often women in disguise or other trans mascs looking to prove themselves. (Hello, Monstrous Regiment vibes.) Feeling angry with himself for realizing some of his jealousy towards Tristan for being the favored son is rooted in lingering doubts about how his parents, especially his father, saw him. Being hesitant to be vulnerable again in a serious relationship after Evelyn, but realizing the trans stuff is just a convenient excuse for maintaining the widower status quo and the realization that he has become risk-adverse as he's aged.

Honestly, he is a trans joy headcanon for me, despite him being a little emotionally constipated. 🤣

I think Oliver should've been allowed an arc where after being confronted with him not being naturally gifted with his powers he hid in medicine and became the team medic, eventually coming to the conclusion that he can't hide from everything that makes him uncomfortable, slowly becoming more confident using his powers in fights

One year I read The No Spend Year by Michelle McGagh and the following year did it myself. It was good that one year and helped me end debts and cancels cards. I’ve never been able to replicate it so I’m trying a different tack this year.

I follow a YouTuber called Immy, a Brit living in the US. Since moving there she has seen a change in the way she spends and her relationship with consumerism.

I was watching a recent video about her desire to attempt a low buy year and when she said she wanted to heal her relationship with consumption that hid hard for me.

The year past I feel I have increased my consumption in a way that is filling in for the horrors I was experiencing especially from the bullying and harassment I experienced from anti-social neighbours (since moved).

I felt very trapped and so turned to the comforts of consumption where I had lost all choices and autonomy elsewhere. In truth this was a form of self harm in that buying what I didn’t truly need to mask the pain of my living situation was denying me the experience of better quality of life.

I did try to address that towards the end of the year and especially once they were moved out and I had safe access again.

I won’t be engaging in the level of low spend Immy is since I am disabled and have additional, essential costs, I do want to address the elephant in my budget though: needful things.

With that in mind I will be changing the way I spend, monitoring it better whilst simultaneously not depriving myself of essentials.

My main motivator is to clear debts to 0 and free up money for essential as well as experiences. I want my life back.

This is very much part of my list project this coming year. January is set aside for reflecting, planning and realigning. I have no intention of starting anything major except this particular project since it would be better actioned from this month, since financially this is always a difficult and long month.

With that being said I’ve no plans to do more than this aside from planning and aligning.

anyway, we’ve been trying to work out why the fuck they were building a small tower like thingy in an empty lot for weeks, it kind of looked like those buildings they have for the fire service to set on fire and do practice drills in? But I went past yesterday and they’ve actually started to construct a warehouse-y building around said tower now. Turns out they start building with the lift shaft? Who knew.
