Feeding Alligators 34 - Fireside Chats
Y'all take a breather. Leaving you and Astarion on first watch.
Rated M for language and violence (once the sex stuff hits it'll go to E). Updates Saturdays and Wednesdays.
On AO3.
No one has the energy to march back out, and Gale is fresh out of mojo. None of y’all want to camp in the creepy fucking swamp lair, but the alternative is free range bog. You literally feel your White ancestors shushing you, it’ll be fine, the bad thing is gone, is that oakwood flooring?
Amongst all the shuffling and the “what the fuck was that noise”, Shadowheart finds a horde of herbs. A decent chunk of them is the mergrass Gale needs to brew dirt potion, thank fucking god.
You took the fewest injuries, and as Ethel’s dirt potion still works, you take the first watch with Astarion (creepy murder hag house needs two people, no splitting up, your Cherokee ancestors rejoice).
Dinner is cold cheese and slightly stale bread. No one complains; nobody wants to trust Ethel’s stove or fireplace. Probably some kind of murder pit waiting to be activated. Y’all don’t explore much, either. Even Astarion lingers closer to the tent huddle than usual (and they did all put up tents; it’s a psychological thing, you’re sure). He’s quieter, than usual, hands still and unmoving at his sides.
He’s actually too still, now that you look. Barely breathing, gaze shifting around and restless. But the rest of him is unmoving. The hag had been shouting insults at all y’all, and had said something to him about being leashed at one point.
“You alright?” you say, seating yourself nearby.
He blinks. Eyes track to you. “Oh yes, just fine, darling.”
It’s like dropping a quarter into one of them old mechanical pony rides stores used to have outside the front door. A chunk, and a pink unicorn—paint sun-faded and chipped—surges into movement. His face hitches up in a micro expression (smug, sass, all the usual). His breathing increases to what might almost be normal. Even his hands flutter back to life.
Huh.
“How’re you doing food-wise?” you say. “Or, y’know, blood-wise?”
“You’re awfully concerned about my health this evening, aren’t you?” His eyelids droop into that silly, flirtatious dip. “Offering me a snack?”
“Still too soon. And we just fought a hag, which everyone was right about her being a nightmare. So yeah, wanted to make sure you don’t got acid melting through your foot or nothing, sue me.”
“Mmm.” He settles his chin in his hand, one finger tracing up the side of his face. Regards you. “So, how’s the tethering potion working for you?”
Fucking blood potion. Nasty ass, fucking vile thing. The only benefit you feel is the kind of exhaustion has shifted (less depression monotony, more muscles crying in agony) and the chronic headache has, blessedly, fucked right off.
So maybe it’s worth it.
He notices all of this, of course. His smile widens. Vampire man must find this hilarious.
“What’s it taste like, to you?” you say. “Blood, I mean?”
His eyebrows lift. He looks up, thinking. “Animal blood is all plonk compared to—other things. But leagues better than the rats and bugs Cazador deigned to give me.”
Add another bullet point to your list of “reasons to kill that fuckface.”
“What do I taste like?” you say, right as Shadowheart emerges from her tent. She arches a solitary eyebrow and you can feel her judgment. “My blood! I meant my blood, not some kinda, uh, innuendo.”
She makes a “sure, Jan” face and proceeds to leave the circle for the door leading outside. Nature must be calling.
So obviously Astarion grins like a lecher. Bastard.
“Hmm, what do you taste like,” he says. To your surprise, he shifts past the leer and actually seems to consider the question. “Warmth, first and foremost. Salty and savory, but with a hint of spices, rather like a mulled wine.”
“Is that good or bad?”
“Oh, I quite enjoyed it.”
You ain’t blushing. You’re almost blushing? Why in the fuck would that make you blush? Bastard has two modes: flirt and murder hobo, and he only ever means the latter.
Things are so weird, here. The people are weird, the monsters are weird, and apparently it’s contagious.
“So blood is like booze for you?” you say because you gotta shift the tone here.
“Mmm. They are rather alike, aren’t they?”
Unfortunately, being in the middle of a hag house, y’all did not light a fire on her floor. So there ain’t no flames to distract you, and you both sit there for a good moment or two. Watch Shadowheart come back and she absolutely does not give you a “I see you two sitting together over there” glare.
“So,” Astarion says with a goddamn tone. “As a fellow blood drinker—”
“It’s a drop from each of you and it’s cooked with leaves and mushrooms and shit.”
“As a fellow blood drinker, who’s your favorite? I’ve only tasted you, darling, but you’ve sampled the full spread, as it were. Lucky thing.”
“All I taste is like licking an iron pipe.”
“What?” He sounds genuinely surprised. Then he clicks his tongue. “Such a waste.”
You shrug. “No vampire senses, I guess.”
He processes that. An odd look crosses his face and disappears again. And then he’s back to smarm. “So, in the spirit of theoretical questions, if you could taste anything besides that wretched description, which of our dearest companions would you take a mouthful of?”
…is that an innuendo? That sounds like an innuendo. Goddamn, the man never stops. No wonder he’s got a pile of lovers back in his hometown.
It also sounds like he’s actually asking your opinion on which one to nibble first.
“This is theoretical, right?”
He places a hand lightly over his heart, the wikipedia banner image of solemn. “Of course. I’ve wondered about Gale, myself. He strikes me as someone whose blood is rich, refined as a well-aged brandy.”
Gale is a wizard, and they’re probably snooty, yeah? Except Gale has more than a dash of awkwardness in there.
“And then there’s the gith,” he says. “What in the hells do you think she tastes like?
You know jack shit about alcohol. Try to think of some way to add to this conversation without revealing that (people get weird about it).
But he beats you to that non-alcoholic punch. Fake gasps and looks at you, all smugly scandalized. “Oh, but that’s right. You told our dearest Blade that you don’t drink.”
And the man casually leans in to pat your fucking cheek. You jerk back, swipe at him. But he’s already retreating out of range, and continuing on because he’s fucking horrible like that. “You poor, poor thing. That must be so boring, darling. How sheltered are you, exactly?”
Extremely, in some ways. And aggressively not in other ways on very, very purpose because your mother and her band of psychos can fuck right off into the sun, you’re a goddamn adult, fuck you very much.
“You eavesdrop on the regular?” you say.
He taps the pointed tip of his long ear. “Darling, when you have my hearing, you learn everything about everyone in camp.”
…good to know, holy shit.
“I bet Lae’zel is sour,” you say, shoving this conversation back on track. “Like, really sour. Maybe a gamy undertone.”
He pauses, opens his mouth. Shuts it and taps his finger to his chin. “Hmm. You might be right.”
“You, uh, you looking at other necks?”
His smirk morphs into a malicious sneer. “Oh, don’t worry, there’s enough of me to go around. I’m a man of tremendous appetites. Still this is just a little team bonding, eh? Good for morale and all?”
You…feel like he’s saying something else. You ain’t sure what, like hearing a voice in another room but unable to pick out a single word. And before you can try to work on that he changes the subject.
“So, you don’t like drinking? Surely the benefits outweigh the taste?” he says.
Honestly, that gets you more questions than almost anything else (the top contender is the lack of bed partners, because people get real weird about that so you don’t bring it up). They assume it’s a religious thing. And maybe that did keep you from developing a taste earlier in life, but you’d tried plenty ever since (out of spite) and they’re all horrifying.
“Not really,” you say, and stick out your tongue in what you hope is the universal “blurgh” face. “I can drink it in other stuff, sometimes, but I’d just rather not.”
“You dislike bitter things. Noted.”
Did…did he just turn that into some kinda innuendo? Because his tone suggests it is, but the words make no damn sense and you stare at him for a hot minute.
“You’re being real weird tonight,” you say. And immediately regret being so forward and the first twinge of panic uncurls beneath your lungs.
But he only grins and leans back on his hands. “We just murdered a hag, my dear, as you noted. Is it a crime to bask in our victory?”
Everyone and everything was so scared of her. Those still-living people below had been trapped so long. Even Gandrel, a professional monster hunter, was wary of her.
“Guess not,” you say.
“Thank you. And you never did answer my question, you know.” At your blank stare, “If you could properly sample anyone here, who would it be?”
Six tents, yours and his included. Nobody did their extra stuff today—no writing desk for Gale or practice dummies for Lae’zel. Just a closed tent and a bedroll within. You suspect y’all will be hoofing out the second y’all can in the morning, this entire place be damned. The tents are all, to your ears, quiet.
“I dunno,” you say. “Guess it depends on what makes blood taste different. You said it’s life force, right? So wouldn’t someone like, say, Wyll, be better than Gale? Just cause he’s younger? Or is it experience? Fitness? Is diet a factor? I mean, if somebody eats chocolate, it puts sugars and hormones into the bloodstream. Does that alter what you get outta it?”
Now it’s his turn to stare. To blink. “I don’t really know, darling. This is theoretical.”
“Do you want to know?” Because you do. Sweat smells different when the body processes alcohol. Urine smells different depending on vegetable consumption. “The human—er the body is basically a big, interwoven chemistry set. Whole thing is run on chemicals and hormones. So tweaking some a those ought to affect what you get out of it. Unless it’s all magical, vampire bullshit stuff. But we could experiment, maybe? If you wanted?”
And now a slight frown folds the skin between his brows. You’ve gone and overdone it again. Fuck.
“Wyll,” you blurt. “I’d try Wyll.”
He pauses, and then smooths back into that delighted grin. “Ah, I was thinking the same. All that self-righteous heroics. Honestly, that man.”
See? He flirts with everybody. Guy is just a flirty nut. But you two’ve established the foundations of a game, so you look at him. Hold that eye contact while keeping your face blank in the way most other people find intimidating (it’s not anything, you’re literally just holding still).
Astarion, shockingly, only rolls his eyes. “Yes, yes. I have no intention of snacking on our beloved teammates.” Sweeps his gaze to your neck. “Aside from one. When she permits me to end my agony.”
Good lord, this guy. He really is punch drunk off this fight.
“I honestly started feeling a lot better a lot quicker than when I donated back home,” you say. “I’ll ask how that all works in the morning when Gale potions me up. See if the healing juice speeds up red cell production. If it does, maybe you can tap in more often.”
Blood and dirt. What an exciting flavor profile. You almost fold into a groan.
“Really?” Astarion says. There’s the barest tremble to his voice. The lightest touch of what you could almost describe as incredulity.
Acknowledging something that skittish would only send it sprinting off. So you continue as if you hadn’t noticed. “Sure. If you want to?”
And then he leans in. Like, leans in, and his eyelids drop. “Oh darling, I will eat you right up.”
Oookay. You know he’s ridiculous, but the man is upping it to the nth degree. What an absolute goober.
He settles back before you can shove his head. You have to settle for a brushing motion with your fingers. “Yeah, yeah. Keep your fangs in your mouth please.”
The man full on simpers. Clucks his tongue, even. And in the most oozing, sleaziest tone imaginable, “Oh, you sweet, generous thing. I’ll be waiting.”
He’s just too much. You still feel yourself smile, though.

INTRODUCTION
The Story
The World of Neo-Amerika In the not-too-distant future, the mighty country known as America has
fallen like all great empires throughout history. Its fifty states broken into private territories after what was called… The Techno-Industrial Civil Wars. Computer technology, bio-engineering, cybernetics and mechanics accelerated at such an incredible rate, it forced industrial competition to the point of uncontrollable and ruthless corporate espionage. While the government tried to keep control of the country by a single thread, the effect of the giant corporations' white collar wars drove the economy into a tail spin. With Wall Street in shambles, the government bankrupt and technological corporate giants running unorthodox takeovers, Neo-Amerika was born. Starting with Micro-Gene, a Dallas based microchip / bio engineering company, New Mexico was easily annexed by the construction of more micro-chip processing plants and cloning technology labs. Arizona was the company's next target and by the time Micro-Gene moved in on Nevada, things started to get ugly. Micro-Gene had been using enhanced agents to spy, sabotage and gather information on competing companies, but other competitors began fighting back with their own brand of genetically enhanced corporate spies and agents. These wars between giant corporations a.k.a. "GI-Corps", gave way to more complicated, advanced and unethical methods. The kidnapping of corporate executives and replacing them with clones capable of downloading company secrets was becoming commonplace. Soon, murder and terrorist tactics became tools of choice in the battle between the GI-Corps. With the advent of the GI-Corps battles, each State developed desperate measures to secure themselves from a hostile take-over. By declaring Federal independence from the U.S., drastic laws and borders were created between states. Violence soon reared its ugly head and the Techno-Industrial Civil Wars began. Something had to be done before the once great country destroyed itself or became target to outside invasion. An agreement had to be made between the government and the GI-Corps before America was torn apart. So a radical concept was introduced to prevent the possible loss of millions in the increasing wars between GI-Corp controlled states. Thus…
The Secret Games Commission (SGC) Spearheaded by forces unknown (possibly foreign interest), a commission
was set up in league with the remaining U.S. Government to regulate the piracy that was tearing apart the United States with the hopes of possibly re-uniting the once proud country. The SGC and the American Government put forth a proposal to the GI-Corps: territorial or contract disputes would be settled in an arena. Instead of armies, one champion would represent a GI-Corp controlled state in battle against another corporation's champion. The winning Champion would take control of the opposing state along with whatever other states that may have been acquired from previous battles.
The Coming of the Bio F.R.E.A.K.S. The first unified law in decades was passed and the concept of
one-on-one battles settling GI-Corp disputes became a reality. As a matter of fact, the creation of ultimate fighting machines was inevitably the next step in the industrial world of Neo-Amerika and its civil wars. Each GI-Corp jumped at the opportunity to create these warriors from technology they specialized in. Cloning had become an easy task for the science divisions of the corporate states. Enhancement by genetics and cybernetics were available technologies as well. Born from these scientific secrets were: Biological Flying Robotic Enhanced Armored Killing Synthoids. Bio F.R.E.A.K.S. for short, these enhanced humans were created specifically for the purpose of battle. Bred in laboratories as killing machines, the Freaks were genetically endowed with peak strength and agility, a rapid healing factor, body tissue regeneration and built-in weaponry. They are owned by the GI-Corps and controlled through a bio-drive that also allows them to down-load combat skills and strategies. An intricate tattoo of circuitry gives them access to the bio-drives, which are located in each Freak's skull. There are three stages of Freakdom:
Synthoids: Genetically enhanced clones with tissue regrowth abilities. Retros: (as in retro-fit): One flaw in the Freak creation process is that the tissue regrowth abilities will fail after a while. If a body part is destroyed and the regeneration processes has discontinued, cybernetic replacements are attached to the Freak. Dozers: These are freaks who have not only lost so much of their human tissue but also the ability to regenerate. Their bodies are completely mechanical save for the brain. The Freak Underground or GI-Corp Resistance Not having any government of corporate sanctioned rights, being under
constant control of a GI-Corp, doomed to a destiny of violence and ultimate loss of humanity, some Freaks have gone rogue and formed an underground resistance. Their goal, to escape the control of their "owners" and obtain their equal rights. While the Secret Game Commission's ultimate goal is to re-unify America, the possibility of a GI-Corp Resistance interferes in some of their most important progress. If an underground movement becomes successful and all Freaks go rogue, then a swift relapse to the days of the Civil Wars is possible and the hopes of peace could be crushed.

BULLZEYE
Freak classification: Synthoid_ Bullzeye has been around for years and was bred so well that he still hasn't had to have a cybernetic replacement grafted onto him. He was originally created as a prototype soldier clone by Micro-Gene and has since fought many times in the Battle Pits. Bullzeye is a survivor. He has a very militant attitude and relishes in the prospects of victory. Bullzeye has a special connection to an ambassador of the Secret Games Commission and is convinced that the games are the only way to re-unify Neo-Amerika. While his only purpose is to serve as a champion, he feels his mission is worth the risks he takes at each conflict. He prides himself in his ability to overcome the opponent and be the best there is. He knows what he is but deep inside, in a corner of his mind, lies the secret desire to be a real human.

Freak classification: Synthoid_ Delta is a female champion for the current state of Indiana / Michigan. She was created by Detroit's General Genetics Gi-Corp. Her specialty is speed and is touted as one of the fastest Freaks on the game circuit. Delta is young and idealistic for a bio-drive operated Freak and is rumored to have friends in the underground. She is constantly under surveillance because of her suspected connections to the Resistance, but still proves a valuable player for the state of conglomerate. She has battled Minatek before and lost an arm. But instead of opting for a cybernetic enhanced weapon attachment, chose a prosthetic to keep her natural body form. Because of her incredible winning track, she gets many perks.

Freak classification: Dozer_ The Freak known as Minatek was one of the first Synthoids created by Micro-Gene for the battle pits. He helped them win Kentucky and Illinois at one time. Throughout the many battles, his regeneration qualities disintegrated and he was enhanced with cybernetic weaponry. He is one of the oldest champions and just before graduating to Dozer status, was purchased by Missouri where he was further altered by Anhieser Robotics Co. While nearly invincible due to his state of the art armor and weaponry, Minatek secretly wishes to join the underground after the traumatic procedures he's experienced. He serves as a reminder to some Freaks as what will eventually happen to them as they continue service in the games. Minatek has been reprimanded several times after bio-drive scans showed that he was thinking of going rebel. Anhieser Robotics Co. is currently working to perfect a free-will nullifying bio-drive, but because of Micro-Gene's accomplishment with Sabotage, they've been beat to the punch.

Freak classification: Synthoid_ Psyclown battles exclusively for the State of Illinois. He was created by a small but quickly growing cloning lab called Duplications Unlimited, a subsidiary of the state's largest GI-Corp, Chicago TechNetics. Psyclown's bio-dive programming purposely keeps his adrenaline supply in a state of constant flow and regeneration. His senses are so enhanced that, paired with the adrenaline rush, he's on the edge of sanity. While it is commonly known that Psyclown is a clone, there is a rumor in the inner circles of the underground GI-Corp Resistance that he's a direct clone of the dead son of Duplications Unltd.'s CEO. In the midst of his prevailing hyper insanity, Psyclown has allowed enough of his mind to carry a goal: to ultimately punish the man directly responsible for his creation and the creation of all Duplications Unltd. clones, D.U.'s founder and CEO.

PURGE
Freak classification: Retro_ Purge is champion of the games created by NewCell Incorporated in close association with their PyroTechnique division. NewCell's bio-drive's have had the best track record of all the GI-Corps so far. Purge never was a straight synthoid to begin with. His cybernetic attachments were grafted just after his "birth." Purge represents Utah which was quickly taken over by Micro-Gene's rebellious subsidiary, NewCell. This created an incredible rivalry between Texas and Utah. Micro-Gene has tried to battle for the right to own Purge since he was created with proprietary information that NewCell stole when they broke away and purchased Utah, but the Chief Games Commissioner has not recognized any claim to him. Purge is one of the fiercest Freaks because of his high intellect and loyalty to the games. He has a Kamikaze sensibility programmed in him and that lack of fear has worked against many an opponent.

Freak classification: Unknown_ Sabotage is a hired mercenary-bounty hunter currently working for the Chief Games Commissioner, a public face for the Secret Games Commission. She has been hunting ZipperHead and other known rebels for sometime. She is a rough, tough, agile and focused on her targets. Sabotage's background includes a two year service with the Nevada-California State Conglomerate Police Force where she was legally enhanced for the Violent Crime Department. After her term ended, she was hired as a freelance agent to catch True-Breeds (people who illegally enter conflicts with Freaks) and rogue Freaks. What Sabotage and the player doesn't know is that she's an advanced prototype synthoid made by DNA Advancement Laboratories. In a twisted sort of way, she is blood with her fiercest opponent, ZipperHead.

SSAPO
Freak classification: Retro_ Ssapo was a secret attempt by an underground renegade faction of New Mexico to create a champion that would give them freedom from the Texas Annex. The cloning procedures were expected to produce the most fierce champion ever, a creature with the killing advantage: limb shredding teeth, incredible strength, skull crashing hands and super speed. The monstrosity was further enhanced with cybernetic weaponry. When finished, the scientists thought it looked like a toad because of its odd features and green skin, thus the Spanish name Ssapo was given to the creature. While Ssapo's intellect is not very high, the bio-drive in his skull is all he needs to battle as moves and skills are downloaded into his neural path, another first for the small group of rebel scientists. Ssapo was granted admission into the games and New Mexico won its independence from Micro-Gene's Texas Conglomerate.

ZIPPERHEAD
Freak classification: Retro_ ZipperHead was a synthoid champion whose career came to a drastic turn after a battle with Bullzeye in which he lost both hands and forearms. He was then moved to Retro status with the addition of cybernetic weaponry replacing his lost tissue. Knowing that the next step of evolution for a Freak was to eventually become a Dozer, ZipperHead experienced a breakdown and vowed revenge on Bullzeye and the system that created him. He ripped out the bio-drive in his skull, freeing himself from the influence and control of the GI-Corp that owned him. He then went underground. ZipperHead was originally a manufactured soldier by one of Micro-Gene's biggest competitors, DNA Advancement Laboratories. Their first prototype models experienced bio-drive complications, with a faulty drive often leading to independent thought. ZipperHead's rebellious actions have been blamed on this imperfection, but DNA Advancement Laboratories has improved their drives immensely since ZipperHead's high profile folly.

The Bosses
CLONUS
Freak classification: Unknown_ Clonus is the creation of the biggest, most successful GI-Corp in the North-American continent, Edisson Extractions. Clonus is the sole creation of Edisson Extractions' founding father and Chief Scientist, Professor Raymond Deux. Thus far, the professor is the only one who knows the secret behind Clonus and its abilities. This entity has the ability to mirror any opponent's physical form and abilities. The opponent finds him or herself facing an exact duplicate, ultimately succumbing to Clonus's incomprehensible ability to not only duplicate, but defeat them in battle.
MUTILATOR
Freak classification: Dozer_ This Freak has been in the battle pits long enough for her to become the most heavily enhanced warrior of all. A literal juggernaut among the others, Mutilator is a walking army with her chest cannon, missile launchers, wrecking ball and other gruesome yet effective weaponry. Mutilator was bred specifically for the purpose of experimenting with cybernetics and has had virtually all organic matter replaced by machinery over the course of her many battles with the exception of her brain. What is left of her mind is under the tight control of a small inner circle of scientists and corporate executives at MicroGene.

This is the second time such a PPC-X has been mentioned. It intrigues me; tell me more, if you please.
As to your waxing poetic on dodging missiles, I believe we have found what makes you... excited, quiaff?
The Clan Vibrosword is made of highly advanced "memory metals" which can withstand a greater amount of deformation. This translates into a higher operating frequency, allowing it to better penetrate armor. These metals are also much lighter in weight than standard, so they are much lighter than a standard vibrosword - on the order of only 25% of the weight.
The Clan version of the vibrokatana - of which mine is one of only a handful - are unique, as they are not a mass manufactured item. Instead, all examples currently manufactured use blades from other, standard katanas, converted into vibroblades. This is done, if I remember correctly, by injecting the standard metallic blade with the memory metal. The memory metal then spreads through the blade, coating the folds, sealing any micro-cracks, "healing" any imperfections, and coating the exterior in a microns-thin sheath of itself. An electrical process is then applied, turning the exterior memory metal crystal clear, allowing the original blade to shine through. After this the blade is then mated with a new hilt, that controls and stabilizes the vibro-action of the blade.
I recall when the process was done to the Turkina Blade, the Scientists involved were much, much more careful than usual, as they were terrified of accidentally "erasing" the talon-marks, or the chips from it had once contact with rebel armor. Luckily, they succeeded in avoiding this.

Much like Amaris, they tried to destroy the Inner Sphere over a petty religious argument. One that led to billions of unneeded deaths. It is telling that even after the fall of the Republic of the Sphere, the ilKhan decreed that former Knights could join a new fraternal order specially dedicated to hunting down Blakist remnants. The third is House Liao. Not the Capellans as a whole, but their ruling house. The reason for this is admittedly more personal - it was rebels professing allegiance to House Liao which killed Aaron DeChavilier, and ultimately sparked the conflict that would destroy the Star League-in-Exile. While it would lead to the creation of the Clans, the stress of the conflict led to the death of Aleksandr Kerensky, our Great Father. Is it any wonder that most people from the Clans dislike the Capellans? At least, for my part, I do try and confine the hatred to House Liao itself. ❤���= I admit, on this question of weapon preference, I am torn. I greatly enjoy the visceral concussion and punch of ballistic weapons, but the light show and (often) limitless ammunition of energy weapons appeals as well. Missiles - especially with more and more 'Mechs sporting guided missiles once again - I find almost too easy. They are useful, do not mistake my meaning, but they require much less skill than a ballistic shot or a long-range PPC hit. Has anyone invented a gun that fires lasers yet? That would be "wicked awesome" as a Terran friend of mine from Boston says. 🔫= I have trained extensively in infantry combat. All Clan warriors train in the basics of infantry combat and melee fighting. It was part of my regular between-deployment training with the Fusiliers - they had several Canopian ex-Ebon Magistrate commandos, a DEST commando, and (eventually) an ex-Manei Domini Banshee Delta to learn from. I am thus skilled with many infantry weapons, martial arts styles, and melee weapons. We even learned zero-G and underwater combat techniques.
As for what I presently carry: I have a JàrnFòlk-modified Sternsnacht Claymore ultra-heavy pistol as my sidearm. It fires 14mm tungsten-core armor-piercing explosive incendiary rounds, from a custom made 8-round extended magazine. It is a beautiful work of art, with platinum damascening, engraving in falcon-feather patterns, imperial jade inlays, and wood from Strana Mechty itself, which forms the exquisitely carved grips. I have used it to kill megasaurs, armored Elementals, and Blakist Zombie infantry alike. I have timed my draw and, even with the Claymore's somewhat excessive weight, have won quite a few formal fast-draw pistol competitions.
I also routinely carry a specially-made Clan Vibrosword. Unlike most straight-bladed models, mine uses a katana-style blade - the exact blade once gifted by my ancestor Turkina to my other ancestor, Elizabeth Hazen, during the DeChavalier Massacre - and yes, in a sense this means I have two genemothers. If you ever have occasion to visit Terra, I can show you the sacred talon-marks on the blade...
In my 'Mech, I carry two additional weapons. All SLDF 'Mechs with sufficient cockpit space will carry a Mauser & Grey Model 980SL pulse laser assault rifle - an upgraded and lightened version of the old SLDF issue Mauser 960, upgraded to Clantech standards, and using a variant of ER Pulse Laser tech from Clan Wolf. The ejection seat kit in all SLDF 'Mechs will also carry a Mauser & Grey built Model 995 "Enhanced" Gauss SMG. The Nest currently hoIds the prototypes for both weapons.
And of course, I have my talons when all else fails. Each of them has long since been upgraded, using a version of the Carbon-Fiber Reinforcement process common among Capellan nobles.
🐺= I have several pets! I keep a mew on my estate, with a breeding pair of Jade Falcons, descended from Turkina herself - I have named them Aidan and Marthe, after Aidan and Marthe Pryde. At present, there is also a snow raven in the Mew, named McKenna, after Stephen McKenna, first Khan of Clan Snow Raven. I am caring for him temporarily in place of his master, Star Commander Kendra Siegel. Kendra, a fine specimen of Snow Raven's Naval Commander phenotype, has been a friend of mine for several decades. She is currently off-world for several months, overseeing construction efforts for a classified project at the Titan Shipyards, and conducting naval exercises between Clan forces and those of the new SLDF Navy, of which she is expected to be appointed Commanding Admiral in the next few years.

I never knew this existed until only the end of Spring when someone from the industrial social media groups dropped it. Many have before but could I blame them? It’s not every day you hear about this or Micro-Chip League, who've only endured one album plus a singles and demo collection. But this, “New York”, is one hell of an electro-industrial teardown and blinks so brightly that it singes the eyes. This single is best compared to perhaps a classic Eighties sci-fi / action box office smash or even a classic arcade cabinet of its’ time. That’s how good “New York” frames its’ own era. There’s also a Razormaid mix to go with it, too.
