Brian Thomas continues to plague my every thought because he somehow has such a heavy heart that he is unable to free himself of the mental burden he’s created for himself. He is convinced that it’s somehow his job to end everything Alex and Tim have caused, even though the only thing Brian every did wrong (at least in the beginning) was be a friend to them. And what really touches me, personally, is even after Tim’s erratic behavior, apparent lies, and general distrust of Brian, the latter refuses to fully blame Tim. Brian still cares for his friend and even blames himself for harming Tim, even after his death. One of the only things on his mind when he (spoilers for the comics) awakens in the ark? Tim and Tim’s safety. Whether Tim is alive. Whether it’s Brian’s fault. And he finally rests when Skully confirms Tim is alive. That’s when the fight is over.

Tim is alive, and that makes everything is fine.

I just can’t get over how heartbreaking that is. That Brian is so broken and so not himself, but somehow, this quality to care for others more than himself stays and lives on, even when Brian has lost himself.
