[Not] Guilty Part 2
Part 1
A few people expressed interest in this becoming a series. I had a storyline for it when I made the first ‘chapter’. I do warn you guys though I will probably be slow to post. I have a hard time when I feel like I have to write the next chapter of something. Not to mention I am currently packing (and procrastinating packing by writing) to move from Michigan to Tennessee for my new post-grad job!
This is not a spoiler because I hinted heavily (told you really) at it at the end of the first chapter, but I did want to warn everyone- this has the ACCIDENTAL PREGNANCY TROPE. For those of you who do not like those stories, you have been warned. The case is mentioned in this story but is not its main focus, but what will become of the reader and Sonny’s relationship. (I may change the name because it implies otherwise.)
Warnings- mentions of sex abuse, physical abuse, prison violence, suicide and accidental pregnancy trope (just in case you missed it ^)
Thank you for reading that really long author's note <3
The breakup should be harder on you. It was the longest relationship you had been in. The nervousness you had felt when you had crept up to the six-month marker and the kiss of death to every relationship you had ever had. It had come in like a lion, with you causing fights waiting for the inevitable, and out like a lamb when Sonny realized what the problem was. He had maturely communicated that he had no intent in letting you go. It had been smooth sailing for the most part after that. The relief you had felt when it all just seemed to work out. You guys were just a few weeks away from the year mark.
The end was as abrupt as your cousin Randy’s arrest. The betrayal of Sonny going after him without any regard to you. Then the attempted railroading from him to you of Randy’s guilt. The whole thing had left you cold and numb.
You knew Dominick Carisi was a good lawyer and now he could be the one to put Randy away for life. On a charge you were sure he didn’t commit. You hadn’t seen him much since the day you refused to let him into your apartment. You only saw him during court proceedings or meetings with him and Randy’s defense lawyer. Not that he hadn’t tried. He had called, texted, and stopped by your apartment frequently during the first few weeks. You were sure he thought that you were just overacting and that you would come to see the light of your cousin’s misdoings. Process and then accept what was going on. The only difference was you knew deep in your soul that your cousin wasn’t guilty. You wouldn't let anyone railroad you into thinking anything differently.
Not even a man you loved.
You had been actively avoiding him and any emotion that he provoked. You tried to ignore that you were a hot mess. The stress and emotional strain caused constant fatigue and churning in your stomach which had a tendency to make you sick. You had been trying to take care of everything for the case and still work overtime to continue paying your bills and for Randy’s pricy lawyer. You had even tried to get the money to bail Randy out, but Sonny had asked for an outrageous bond that even combined your working-class family couldn’t afford. You had tried to make up for it by putting money in his commissary and visiting once a week. Randy assured you he was okay, but it didn’t help make you feel better. Especially, when you saw the black eye and cut lip on your last visit.
Today was court and it was Randy’s turn to testify. You sat there in support of him and tried not to wince or shift uncomfortably as years of family secrets were let loose in open court. It was to help show Randy’s character the lawyer had explained. It was smart but you didn’t have to like listening to it.
Randy testified to his mental health issues. His bipolar that left him manic and on top of the world one day and then so depressed he couldn’t get out of bed the next. He went on to talk about the sexual and physical abuse he had received at the hands of his own father. How he had used substance to numb himself. He was in tears when he talked about how he could never hurt someone like he had been hurt. He would rather put a bullet in his head.
He had tried to skirt around the question about his uncle. But when he was pressed, he talked about how he had witnessed the brutal murder of his father at his uncle's hands when he had found out and then watched his uncle be arrested and put in prison. How he had been put on multiple 72-hour psych holds in the years following. Listening to it all was hard and made you want to curl up in a corner and sob. It was heartbreaking to listen to. Randy looked and sounded believable- like a victim himself who deserved empathy.
Sonny turned in his seat to look at you. You were only able to maintain eye contact for only a few seconds. It had been long enough to see the understanding in his eyes. The almost audible clicking of all the puzzle pieces of your life that you dodged around or refused to talk about when you were together were finally coming together for him. You could also see the frustration at you not being honest with him and him being blindsided in open court.
When recess was called until Monday you had to keep yourself from running out of the courthouse and instead force yourself to walk at a normal pace. You couldn’t face any of the SVU detectives that you were once close to. You hear your name called and your body freezes without your permission. A Staten Island accent thickened with emotion. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
You can’t even turn back to look at him. You feel exhausted as you say. “You didn’t want to listen.”
≪ °❈° ≫
You return to court four days later, and there is something strange brewing in the courtroom. You can feel it in the air. You can see it. There is no jury and the courtroom is empty. The rest happens in a blur. ADA Dominick Carisi stands up and tells the judge they had found further evidence over the weekend and they wanted to drop all charges, except for possession. They offered a deal on time served. You felt the tears rush down your face in disbelief.
You find yourself in the hallway and a hand touches your shoulder from behind. You turn around to see Olivia Benson. “For what it is worth, I’m sorry.” Her face is sincere but all you could hear in your mind was the echoing of her words to you of his guilt and how it was normal to be in denial. It could take a while for your mind to be able to comprehend that someone you know, and love is capable of such malicious intent. “For all the trouble and for all this has cost you.” Even in your haze, you knew she wasn’t talking about the money you had put into Randy’s defense. “With his DNA in her apartment and on that blunt we really thought-”
“Sharing weed with a woman doesn’t mean you're going to rape and kill her.” Your words are bitter and distant even to your own ears.
“Of course not,” Olivia paused gathering her thoughts.
“What happened? What did you guys find?”
“Well, we went back over the timeline. We had a hard time believing Randy because when we interviewed him, he didn’t even know where he had been for most of the night.” You knew he had been hopped up on some pretty strong stuff that night. “Do you know the cemetery a couple of blocks from where we arrested him?” You felt like a bolt of lightning had struck through you. You did in fact know it. It was where his older brother had been buried after he committed suicide at twenty. “There was a security camera there that had been installed because of some teenager destroying headstones. It shows Randy there hours before Mary Moore’s death to hours after it. He slept there all night actually.”
You huff out a laugh. Thomas was Randy’s older brother by almost ten years. He, out of the three sons, had taken the worst of the abuse from their father. He had protected Randy and the youngest David until the moment he had ended it all, but it seemed even death couldn’t stop him from protecting his younger brother.
You see Randy getting released, a bag of belongings in his hand and you start to head over to him completely forgetting that you had been in a conversation with the detective. You are only reminded when you hear her voice raise slightly as she says, “You know, Carisi is the one that started looking back at the timeline. He is the reason this case was dropped.” You freeze feeling something twist in your stomach. An emotion that you don’t want to deal with in this happy moment.
“It doesn’t change anything.”
You stride to Randy’s side and hug. You weren’t allowed to touch him when you were visiting him in lockup. He clings to you burying his face into your neck and you can feel the hot tears against your neck. “Thank you. Thank you so much for never giving up on me.” You hug him tighter feeling your own tears roll down your cheeks.
≪ °❈° ≫
You were sitting back at the apartment curled up on the couch wrapped in a blanket as Randy was spending an ungodly amount of time in the bathroom. You smiled to yourself, just happy that he was home. Even if he was back to crashing on your couch. He joined on the couch, hair still wet from his shower. He leaned back into the cushions with a sigh. The two of you sat in silence processing all that had happened in the last four months.
“I found a rehab program when I was locked up. It focuses on people with mental health issues like my bipolar. I called and they said they had a spot open for me. Someone ran out. Good luck, huh?” You laugh shaking your head.
“Good to know you still have your positivity streak.” You lay back feeling absolutely exhausted. You had been having a fatigue that just wouldn’t go away. “I think it's a good idea though. It would be good for you to get that settled. Your being off and on your meds hasn't been helping. I just want you to be happy, and have a real chance at the life you deserve.”
“Yeah, I know. I hope you know I appreciate everything you have done for me. Everything that you have had to sacrifice.” You say his name, but he cuts you off, “No, really Chickadee. All these years, you didn’t have to do any of it. Without you, I would have been dead or locked up three times over by now.” You reach out and start running your finger through his hair. “It’ll probably be good for you to have to space anyways.”
“I don’t mind you sleeping on my couch.” You assure him.
“I know, but with you being pregnant and all. I’m sure you-”
“I’m sorry about me being what?” Randy doesn’t miss a beat.
“Oh, come on Chickadee. I know you were trying not to make a big deal out of it because of everything that was going on but-” You shake your head at him, laughing.
“Randy, I’m not pregnant.” The finality in your voice makes him turn his position to face you more fully. He quirks an eyebrow at you.
“Are you sure about that?” His tone is one of disbelief as he eyes your form. You smack his shoulder saying his name loudly. “Well, I would check into that, anyhow. You know with the fatigue, upset stomach, morning sickness, and with how big those things have gotten.” He gestures to your breast with a wave of his hand.
You look down at them and feel your mind starting to spiral as you try to think of the last time you had a period. You bite your thumb as you realize it was before the case had started. While it wasn’t uncommon for you to skip when you were stressed out, that was a considerable amount of time. “Alright, I’m kicking you out of my bed. I haven’t had a good night's sleep in almost four months.” Randy didn’t seem to notice your mind spinning. He thought that you were still just messing around with him. He had no idea the can of worms he had just opened in your head.
You stood up numbly as he started making the couch his makeshift bed. Then flopping onto it with a content sigh. You say nothing as you go to grab your purse and head toward the drug store a block over.

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WNDU/Gray News) - - Police in Indiana are investigating a scheme where multiple restaurant employees allegedly used stolen money to bail out inmates from jail.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office said employees from a Hardee’s restaurant used stolen money from customers to bail out the inmates.
According to the sheriff’s office, jail staff noticed last month that suspiciously large amounts of funds were being placed into the accounts of inmates at the county jail from a source outside the jail.
The same inmates were reportedly bonding out of the jail almost immediately and leaving with the remaining balance on a jail-issued debit card.
This led to an investigation, where officials discovered a fraud scheme involving multiple employees from a Hardee’s restaurant in Michigan City, as well as several other people.
Police did not provide the address of the restaurant, but the WNDU reported the only Hardee’s restaurant located in Michigan City is at 5223 Franklin Street.
Officials say the Hardee’s employees involved took photos of customers’ debit and credit cards that paid in the drive-thru and were fraudulently using those cards to place money into inmate’s accounts that had low bails set.
The inmates would then bond out of jail, take the jail-issued debit card with the extra money left on it, and withdraw the remaining money from an ATM.
Deputies said a total of $14,700 was charged fraudulently, and the victims are working with their financial institutions to get their money back.
Authorities said ten suspects are facing several felony charges, including fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, and criminal organization activity as a result of the investigation:
Darrien Ward – Fraud (Level 5 Felony) and Criminal Organizational Activity (Level 6 Felony)
Prince Arnold - Fraud (Level 5 Felony) and Criminal Organizational Activity (Level 6 Felony)
Kristin Vanschoyck - Fraud (Level 5 Felony) and Criminal Organizational Activity (Level 6 Felony)
Madison Zuk – Conspiracy to Commit Fraud (Level 5 Felony) and Criminal Organizational Activity (Level 6 Felony)
Anisa Higginbotham - Conspiracy to Commit Fraud (Level 5 Felony) and Criminal Organizational Activity (Level 6 Felony)
Hollie LaChapelle - Conspiracy to Commit Fraud (Level 5 Felony) and Criminal Organizational Activity (Level 6 Felony)
Carissa Bealor - Conspiracy to Commit Fraud (Level 5 Felony) and Criminal Organizational Activity (Level 6 Felony)
Lawrence Armstrong - Conspiracy to Commit Fraud (Level 5 Felony) and Criminal Organizational Activity (Level 6 Felony)
Moesha Monique Savanna Payne - Conspiracy to Commit Fraud (Level 5 Felony) and Criminal Organizational Activity (Level 6 Felony)
Dylnn Scott - Conspiracy to Commit Fraud (Level 5 Felony) and Criminal Organizational Activity (Level 6 Felony)
Police say Scott is the only suspect who has not been arrested yet.
Anyone with information on Scott’s whereabouts should call the Fugitive Apprehension Street Team (FAST) at 219-608-9572 or Michiana Crime Stoppers at 800-342-7867.

How to Choose the Right Bail Bond Agency in Michigan
Choosing the right bail bond agency is crucial when you or a loved one is facing legal trouble. In Michigan, the process of securing bail can be confusing and stressful, so it’s important to work with an agency you can trust. Here are key factors to consider when selecting the right bail bond agency for your needs:
1. Licensing and Certification
Ensure that the agency is fully licensed and certified to operate in Michigan. A licensed bail bond company is regulated by the state and is required to follow specific legal and ethical standards. Working with a licensed agency gives you peace of mind that you are dealing with professionals who understand the bail process and can guide you through it correctly.
2. Reputation and Experience
Experience matters in the bail bond industry. Look for an agency with a proven track record of success and positive client reviews. An experienced agency will be familiar with the local court system, the jail facilities, and the common challenges that arise during the bail process. Research online reviews, ask for referrals, or check the agency’s history of customer satisfaction.
3. Transparency in Fees
A reputable bail bond agency will be clear and upfront about their fees. In Michigan, bail bond agencies typically charge a percentage of the total bail amount, usually between 10-15%. Be wary of agencies that offer unusually low rates, as this can sometimes indicate hidden fees or less-than-ethical practices. Make sure the agency explains all costs involved and provides a written agreement outlining the terms.
4. Availability and Accessibility
Bail bond emergencies don’t follow business hours. Look for an agency that offers 24/7 availability. Whether it’s late at night, over the weekend, or during a holiday, you need an agency that can respond quickly and efficiently when time is of the essence. Quick action is crucial to securing the timely release of your loved one, so availability should be a top consideration.
5. Customer Service
The right bail bond agency should offer excellent customer service. During a stressful and uncertain time, you need an agency that is responsive, compassionate, and ready to provide clear, reliable information. The agency should be patient with your questions, explain the bail process thoroughly, and make you feel supported every step of the way.
6. Flexible Payment Options
Bail amounts can be substantial, and many people may not have the full amount available immediately. The best bail bond agencies offer flexible payment plans or financing options to help make the process more affordable. Ask about any payment arrangements that may be available to ensure the release process doesn’t become an additional financial burden.
7. Discretion and Privacy
Bail bond cases often involve sensitive personal matters, and confidentiality is key. Choose an agency that prioritizes your privacy and handles your case discreetly. A reputable agency will protect your personal and legal information and will not share details about your situation without your consent.
8. Local Knowledge
If possible, select a bail bond agency that operates locally and is familiar with the Michigan legal system. A local agency will have experience working with area jails, courts, and law enforcement agencies, which can help expedite the process of posting bail and securing a quick release.
Conclusion
Choosing the right bail bond agency in Michigan is about finding a reliable, transparent, and compassionate partner to help navigate the bail process. By considering factors such as licensing, reputation, fees, customer service, and availability, you can ensure that you select an agency that will support you or your loved one during this challenging time.

I seem to recall the Supreme Court saying something about such spectacle in the courtroom...
The carnival atmosphere at trial could easily have been avoided since the courtroom and courthouse premises are subject to the control of the court. Sheppard v. Maxwell, 384 U.S. 333, 358 (1966)

An elementary school? Jeff Epstein/Roman Polanski/Bubba say you're sick.
DENVER — Police have arrested a Denver Public Schools social worker on child sex assault charges. The Denver Police Department said Thursday that officers arrested 44-year-old Emilio Ramos-Avila for investigation of three counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust on Wednesday. The school district said Ramos-Avila has been employed with the district since August 2015. He is currently a social worker at Force Elementary School. Ramos-Avila has been on administrative leave since Oct. 17 and will remain on leave until the district can finish its investigation, said DPS.***

Sorry, she's smart enough to tell you "get a life; GBTW"
Democrat U.S. senators and other party members are mulling convincing Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor to resign so President Joe Biden can replace her with another leftist judge before President-elect Donald Trump takes office on Jan. 20. The 70-year-old Sotomayor, nominated by then-President Barack Obama in 2009, is the oldest Democrat-appointed justice on the court. She's also a life-long diabetic. In 2018, paramedics were called to her home after the justice suffered "symptoms of low blood sugar." Lawmakers long have known about Sotomayor's health issues, but as with Biden's cognitive issues, Democrats refrained from admitting potential problems caused by the condition. Now, Democrats see Sotomayor's situation as a way to seat someone on the high court before Trump takes office with Republicans in control of the Senate. The GOP won a majority in the chamber during Tuesday's elections. A Democrat senator told Politico that the topic has been discussed by members, who realize making an attempt to replace Sotomayor would be "a risky play," according to the outlet.***

Only 30?
Richard Anthony Reyna Densmore, 47, of Kaleva, Michigan, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually exploiting a child. Densmore pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child, part of a broader indictment that charged him with other child exploitation offenses.*** Densmore is a member of 764, a network of violent extremists who seek to normalize the production, sharing, and possession of child pornography and gore material to desensitize and corrupt youth toward future acts of violence. Members of 764 gain notoriety by systematically targeting, grooming, and extorting victims through online social media platforms. Members demand that victims engage in and share media of self-mutilation, sexual acts, harm to animals, acts of random violence, suicide, and murder, all for the purpose of accelerating chaos and disrupting society and the world order. Densmore, known as “Rabid,” became notorious in the 764 network by creating online “Sewer” communities on Discord where members recruited children – including by infiltrating online gaming sites that children frequent – to cut themselves and engage in graphic sexual acts. Densmore boosted membership in “Sewer” by advertising livestreams of children engaging in self-mutilation (cutshows) and sexually explicit activity “on cam.” He threatened victims to cut themselves by telling them, “I have all your information. I own you. . . . You do what I say now kitten.”  Densmore kept child pornography and bloody images of “Rabid,” “Sewer,” and “764” carved into victims’ limbs, in some cases with razor blades and boxcutters nearby. Densmore also sexually exploited children. In October 2022, Densmore unsuccessfully tried to persuade a minor girl, Jane Doe, to send him an explicit picture with “Rabid” written on her bare chest. When she expressed discomfort with that request, Densmore contacted another Discord user and paid him Nitro, a form of Discord currency, to help secure a sexually explicit picture of Jane Doe. Densmore’s efforts were successful and Jane Doe, at the request of the other Discord user, sent Densmore and the user a nude video of herself with “Rabid” written on her chest.***

DELTA TWP. - Former Township Supervisor Ken Fletcher, who resigned in September just after being arraigned on charges of accosting a child for immoral purposes, earned enough votes at the polls Tuesday to take office again on Jan. 1. Fletcher, a Democrat who ran unopposed on the ballot, received nearly 89% of the votes cast, according to unofficial results. That's despite being accused of having sexual conversations over text messaging and a dating app with a police investigator posing as a 15-year-old boy. He was charged as part of a sting run by a regional internet crimes task force that includes the Eaton County Sheriff's Office, Lansing police, Michigan State Police and Charlotte police, said Eaton County Prosecutor Doug Lloyd. Two write-in candidates, Richard Ott and Saturn Wells, filed to run after Fletcher resigned. Eaton County Clerk Diana Bosworth said it could take another week before the votes for each are tallied but neither received more votes than Fletcher. Just over 11% of the votes cast were for write-ins. ***

***In Florida, voters failed to approve a constitutional amendment that would have legalized recreational marijuana, defying both expectations and the endorsement of president-elect Donald Trump. Voters in South and North Dakota defeated legal weed initiatives, too, by decisive margins—the second and third time for each state, respectively. Bright-blue Massachusetts had the chance to become the third state, after Oregon and Colorado, to legalize psychedelic drugs. Polls suggested Question 4 was too close to call, but Bay Staters ended up rejecting it by a 14-point margin. Even Cambridge and Boston could barely post majorities.  These votes came from the grassroots, defeating big-money campaigns for legalization. The pro-legalization camp in Florida, backed by the massive cannabis company Trulieve, spent nearly $150 million, more than any prior recreational marijuana campaign. The Yes on 4 campaign in Massachusetts spent just $7 million, but that was still 73 times more than the opposition.*** “It shows how drugs are not the winning issue many politicians have been tricked into believing,” Kevin Sabet, president of the anti-legalization group Smart Approaches to Marijuana, said. “As marijuana has become legalized, commercialized, and normalized, its effects are now so ubiquitous they are hard to miss.”  Indeed, Americans might finally be noticing that more permissive drug policy does not just mean that people can partake of a joint without the police hassling them. It also creates big social problems: car crashes (accounting for an estimated 1,400 fatalities per year), public disorder (a 35 percent increase in chronic homelessness in states that legalize), and surging insanity (a 70 percent increase in psychosis among teens that use). Even drugs like pot and psychedelics can make people less responsible, harder to employ, and more dysfunctional.   For the past decade, marijuana legalization has seemed like an unstoppable juggernaut. Since 2012, 24 states have legalized—14 in the past four years alone. Voters have been willing to permit others’ vices. But increasingly, they’re seeing that those vices have consequences for them, too.*** Today, voters can look at California, which is blanketed in unlicensed shops. They can talk to friends in New York City, who complain constantly of the smell of weed. They can learn about Colorado, where 15 percent of marijuana users report driving after using. Those impressions are backed by a growing body of research. Marijuana legalization has been shown to cause homelessness and addiction, as the availability of a harmful substance attracts and increases dysfunctional behavior. It causes more fatal accidents, as intoxicated drivers choose to get behind the wheel. It may even lower property values, as the proliferation of legal pot shops makes neighborhoods less attractive places to live or work. ***

Daniel Penny trial
The subway rider seen on video helping Marine vet Daniel Penny hold down Jordan Neely after an outburst on a Manhattan train took the witness stand on Tuesday after prosecutors agreed not to charge him in exchange for testifying in Penny's manslaughter trial, telling the court he said aloud that the former serviceman was not squeezing "tight enough" during the altercation. Although he initially gave detectives a different story, he arrived after Penny had already taken Neely down. "Everybody was frantic and saying, call the cops, call the cops,'" said Eric Gonzales, a 39-year-old father of two. "I see those two individuals on the floor, so I assumed one was trying to restrain the other until the cops came."*** Neely continued to struggle, but the two continued to hold him down, waiting for the police. Gonzales said he did urge Penny to loosen his grip but later told him to grab tighter.*** Gonzales also said he's still scared about testifying despite the prosecution's immunity offer – saying he believes he or his family could be harmed if he testifies in favor of Penny.***
+++
Since the Daniel Penny trial kicked off, witness after witness has described the abject terror they felt while riding the uptown F train as unhinged homeless man Jordan Neely entered the car, snarling and threatening straphangers. One teen testified that she was so frightened she thought she’d pass out. An older woman was “scared s–tless.” A 29-year-old man said he was “pretty terrified.” All testified that they’d never before experienced that type of acute panic while riding the train. But on Tuesday, one was visibly petrified to be in that courtroom, with protesters outside and multiple Neely supporters inside. Scared to be on the stand. To be a party to a potential acquittal of Penny and what that would mean for his personal safety.*** Despite his deal with the prosecutor, Gonzalez was still worried what would happen if his testimony were to help Penny go free. “You’re scared of people that are looking for a prosecution of my client?” asked Penny’s defense attorney Steven Raiser. “Yes,” Gonzalez said. Raiser added: “You’re afraid that if you testified in a way that’s helpful to my client, you may suffer repercussions, correct?” Affirmative. “All these protests going on, I am scared for myself, I am scared for my family,” Gonzalez, a father of two said, underscoring how politically charged this farce of a criminal case is.***

The Agency that Dare not Speak its Name, but has a website at www.cia.gov
A C.I.A. official has been charged with disclosing classified documents that appeared to show Israel’s plans to retaliate against Iran for a missile attack earlier this year, according to court documents and people familiar with the matter. The official, Asif W. Rahman, was indicted last week in federal court in Virginia with two counts of willful retention and transmission of national defense information. He was arrested by the F.B.I. on Tuesday in Cambodia and brought to federal court in Guam to face charges. The documents were prepared by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which analyzes images and information collected by U.S. spy satellites. It conducts work in support of clandestine and military operations. Mr. Rahman, who worked abroad for the C.I.A., was set to appear in Guam on Thursday.***

Ugh.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Three people are now facing federal charges for allegedly staging a hate crime during the Colorado Springs mayoral race in 2023. In the early morning hours of April 23, 2023, a burning cross in front a campaign sign for then-candidate Yemi Mobolade was found at the intersection of Union and Fillmore. The sign had been defaced with a racial slur. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado (USAOC) now says the entire scene was a hoax, intended to make citizens think that there was a group of racists in Colorado Springs strongly opposed to a Black mayoral candidate. In a news release Tuesday, the USAOC announced 35-year-old Derrick Bernard Jr., 40-year-old Ashley Blackcloud, and 38-year-old Deanna West had been indicted by a grand jury for their “maliciously conveying false information about a threat made by means of fire” and “their alleged roles in a conspiracy to spread disinformation about the threat.” In the indictment obtained by 11 News, the USAOC states the trio started plotting in early April 2023, the day after a runoff election was announced in the mayoral race, with Mobolade and Wayne Williams the projected candidates. The indictment included a series of emails it alleges were from the three suspects***

Worked out great for California, right?
Michigan House Republicans on Tuesday expressed their staunch opposition to a slate of Democrat-sponsored bills that will effectively eliminate cash bail requirements for certain offenders. In its meeting on Tuesday, the House Criminal Justice Committee discussed House Bills 4655-4656 and 4658-4661. The bills aim to revise the state’s bail laws and legally restrict judges from requiring criminal defendants to post cash bail as a prerequisite to obtain release while awaiting trial. The proposed reforms would not only render judges’ current ability to set bail for “low-level crimes,” but as well prohibit them from weighing a defendant’s criminal record, failure to appear in court, or whether the judge and prosecutors deem them potentially dangerous to the community.*** Harris served in law enforcement for 26 years, retiring as a Waterford Police sergeant. He noted that New York and California adopted similar bail reforms, which he said has led to increased rates of recidivism.  In New York City, for example, “nearly 50% of felony offenders released without bail were rearrested while awaiting trial.” “Without strong bail requirements, repeat offenders have caused a crime surge in other states,” Harris continued. “Michigan shouldn’t repeat the mistakes of California and New York. We should keep bail options available to protect our communities while ensuring defendants and victims receive their day in court.”***

The FBI reportedly raided the Manhattan home of Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan early Wednesday morning after the election betting platform correctly predicted Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential race last week. *** The raid, as first reported by the New York Post, involved FBI agents seizing Coplan’s phone and other electronic devices while the 26-year-old CEO was at his SoHo apartment.*** The spokesperson emphasized in their statement that "Polymarket is a fully transparent prediction market that helps everyday people better understand the events that matter most to them, including elections. We charge no fees, take no trading positions, and allow observers from around the world to analyze all market data as a public good."***

Four people were arrested Wednesday in connection with insurance fraud when they claimed a bear damaged their car, but it was really a person in a bear costume, the California Department of Insurance said. Ruben Tamrazian, 26, of Glendale; Ararat Chirkinian, 39, of Glendale; Vahe Muradkhanyan, 32, of Glendale; and Alfiya Zuckerman, 39, of Valley Village, were charged with insurance fraud and conspiracy, the department said. The suspects filed a claim with their insurance company, saying a bear got into their car, a 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost, at Lake Arrowhead on Jan. 28, 2024, and damaged the inside with scratches. The insurance department said the suspects provided a video to the company, which showed the "bear" in the car. An investigation into the claim took a closer look at the video and found the "bear" was actually a person in a bear costume, the insurance department said. Investigators then took the video to biologists with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to also look at the video. The biologists said, "it was clearly a human in a bear suit."***

An Illustrative Case of Carjacking Gone Wrong - The Murder of Jack Snyder
Jack Snyder was a 17-year-old honor student, soccer player, and National Honor Society member who had a bright future ahead of him. He was also a kind-hearted person who wanted to help others in need. On the night of February 17, 2023, he left his girlfriend’s birthday party in Battle Creek, Michigan, and noticed two young boys walking in the cold. He offered them a ride home, not knowing that they had sinister intentions. The boys, aged 14 and 13, tried to carjack Snyder and shot him twice when he resisted. Snyder died on the spot, next to his vehicle, while the boys fled the scene. The police later arrested the suspects and charged them with felony murder and carjacking. This article will explore the tragic case of Jack Snyder’s murder, the motives and backgrounds of the killers, and the impact of the crime on the community and the family of the victim.
Details of Jack Snyder Murder
A bright future awaited Jack Snyder, a 17-year-old who excelled in academics, sports, and community service. He was a kind-hearted person who wanted to help others in need. On February 17, 2023, he was driving back from his girlfriend’s birthday party in Battle Creek, Michigan, when he saw two young boys shivering in the cold. He decided to give them a lift home, unaware of their evil plans.
The boys, who were 14 and 13 years old, attempted to steal Snyder’s car and shot him twice when he fought back. Snyder succumbed to his injuries on the spot, next to his car, while the boys ran away. The police later caught the culprits and charged them with felony murder and carjacking. The older boy was named Justice Chimner, while the younger one’s name was kept secret. The boys were tried as adults and faced life imprisonment. They were detained without bail at a juvenile facility. The police stated that there was no evidence connecting the suspects to Snyder. Although they mentioned having prior interactions with them, no information about their criminal history was disclosed.
How the Police Caught the Killers of Jack Snyder
The community played a vital role in helping the police catch the killers of Jack Snyder, a 17-year-old who was shot dead while trying to help two boys in the cold. The police received many tips from the public about the suspects and their location . The police also tracked their movements and identified them using surveillance cameras at various places in the area.
On February 19, the police arrested the 14-year-old suspect, Justice Chimner, who was sitting in a car near Jackson Street and Bedford Road. The same day, the 13-year-old suspect, whose name was not disclosed then, surrendered at the Battle Creek Police Department with a parent. The police also found a gun that they suspected was used in the shooting, but they were waiting for forensic confirmation.
The Latest Updates on the Trial of Jack Snyder’s Killers

$200,000 bail set for Detroit clerk who locked door before customers were shot
Tumblr media
Gas Station Shooting
A gas station remains closed less than a week after a fatal shooting in Detroit, Michigan, Wednesday, May 10, 2023. Authorities in Detroit say a man fatally shot another customer inside a gas station and wounded two more in a dispute over a small purchase. (AP Photo/Ed White)

DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit gas station clerk may have panicked when he locked a door to stop a possible theft before a man shot three bystanders, but he didn't commit a crime, his lawyer said Friday.
A magistrate set bond at $200,000 for Al-Hassan Aiyash, 22, who is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of a customer. He is accused of being grossly negligent by locking the door when a man tried to leave the gas station with items worth less than $4.
A man was killed and two more were wounded on May 6. Samuel McCray, 27, has been charged with murder and other crimes.
Aiyash's attorney said it's “really not fair” to set a high bond while prosecutors present an uncommon legal theory.
“He was doing his job,” Jamil Khuja told the judge. "Did he panic and act inappropriately in a way? Maybe, but that’s the best they can argue here.”
McCray tried to leave the gas station without paying for items when an electronic purchase didn't work, according to police.
Aiyash, who was behind protective glass, remotely locked the door, keeping McCray and three bystanders inside during the dispute. He unlocked the door shortly before the shooting, but the others apparently didn't know it, the prosecutor's office said.
“People were begging to be let out,” Magistrate Malaika Ramsey-Heath said before setting bond.
Detroit police Chief James White said he would support a local ban on stores locking people inside.
"I see no logical reason a person needs to be locked inside for any reason without having the ability to get out,” White said.

How Do Bail Bonds Work For Southeast Michigans?
How do bail bonds work in Southeast Michigans? Bail bonds in Southeast Michigan work similarly to how they work in other areas of the country. A bail bond is a guarantee submitted with the help of a bail bondsman to the court that the defendant will appear for all court appearances. In exchange for the bond, the defendant, or a co-signer, pays a non-refundable fee to the bail bondsman. Read More: https://ext-6264860.livejournal.com/498.html

Different Types Of Bells You Can Find By Michigan Bail Bond Agency!
Just as arrest is part of the legal process after being found involved in a crime, bail is also part of the same legal process. As far as getting bail is concerned, the Michigan bail bond agency said the offense has two categories based on sections of the law. The first is the cases registered under the bail able section & the second is the case registered under non-bail able sections.
How many kinds of bells do you find?
Regular bail: If the accused is arrested for a crime, he can apply for regular bail.
Anticipatory Bail: Clearly, it is an advance bail. That is bell even before the arrest. You must have seen films when the police arrive to arrest an accused & he hands over a paper and returns it to the police. When a person suspects arrest on charges of a crime, he applies to the court for anticipatory bail. He escapes from arrest after getting bail.
Interim bail: When a few days are lefts for a hearing on a regular bail or an anti-bail bail, it grants interim bail. You can get the bell for a short time.
Bail from police station: Even if an arrest is made in the cases registered under bail able sections, such as assault, threat, abuse, misbehaviour, etc., the bail is granted from the police station itself. Many top lawyers said that in such cases a person is asked to fill a bail bond and submit a guarantor. In doing so, bail is granted from the police station itself.
If you want to get instant bail then the Michigan bail bondsman is here to help you. Connect with them now!

A toddler has died after allegedly being pushed from Chicago's Navy Pier into Lake Michigan by his aunt, CBS Chicago reported.
The 3-year-old, whom prosecutors identified as Josiah Brown, suffered cardiac arrest and brain damage as a result of the alleged incident last week. Prosecutors say that Brown's aunt, Victoria Moreno, shoved him off of the pier and did not try to help him as he struggled underwater for about 30 minutes, on Monday afternoon.
Ashton King, a woman who says she witnessed the incident involving Moreno and Brown at Navy Pier, told CBS Chicago she saw the boy floating in the water while the aunt allegedly stood by and watched.
Moreno, 34, was initially charged with two felony counts of attempted murder in the first degree and aggravated battery to a child younger than 13 causing permanent brain damage, Chicago Police announced Wednesday. At the time, Brown was hospitalized for his injuries, authorities said in a news release noting that the toddler was found Monday in "critical condition" and taken to a nearby hospital by emergency personnel.
Moreno, a resident of Des Plaines, Illinois, was denied bail during a bond hearing that took place as police announced her charges, in spite of the defense's arguments suggesting that she suffers from mental illness. Cook County Circuit Court Judge Susanna Ortiz reportedly described Moreno's alleged actions as "intentionally brutal and heinous" at the hearing, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Josiah Brown's grandfather, Dan Brown, told WLS-TV one day after the incident that his family needs "a lot of prayer right now."
"Everybody's prayer helps," Brown said at the time. "God makes things happen. That's what we are banking on right now."

clap your hands if you wanna help pay bail
I go by Squid and I'm a friend of Drew's. For the last year, Drew has been in a physically, financially, and emotionally abusive living situation, exacerbated by ongoing mental health issues. As of early February, things escalated following a conflict with his partner, and he is now in a Wayne County prison.
Bail is currently set at $50,000. The $5,000 raised will be for a bail bond program so he can await his court date outside confinement.
Drew is currently being held in poor conditions, being denied access to both basic medical care for his injuries and his medications, and the legal counsel he has received has been questionable at best. There is also the potential that his case is not being handled fairly due to the police viewing this as "drama between gays", rather than long term domestic violence.
In the event that Drew is released from prison before our goal can be met, any money will instead go towards him leaving the state of Michigan and his partner, who has until this point kept Drew from leaving by taking his money, in addition to the physical and emotional abuse. He will be effectively starting over from nothing, and the money in this instance will go towards him being able to reestablish himself closer to his home state, where he has friends that are willing to temporarily host him while he gets back on his feet. He is not on the best terms with his parents, and my car is broken down until further notice, so if he is to leave, he will need to be able to do so under his own power.
Any money you contribute will help out immensely. Before this he was really starting to get his life back on track, and this is a massive roadbump in the way of a lot of forward progress.
