The chessboard is more than just a battleground of kings and queens—it’s a universe of infinite possibilities. Each move unfolds a new reality, a branching path leading to a distinct outcome. It’s a game, yes, but it’s also a profound metaphor for life.

The opening move in chess is both thrilling and terrifying. It’s a step into the unknown, the point furthest from the resolution of the game. At that moment, there are 20 possible moves at your disposal, and each represents a different path. By the second move, those paths multiply into 72,084 possible games. By the third, the number skyrockets into the millions. By the fourth? You’re grappling with more potential outcomes than your mind can hold.

This idea often leaves players frozen in indecision. What if I make a mistake? The fear of failure looms large, but here’s the beauty of chess—and life. While the first move might seem monumental, it’s not an endgame. The vast sea of possibilities ahead means that mistakes aren’t final. They’re just moments. I was coaching someone, who spoke of a gremlin, on an old (but safe) rickety bridge as a metaphor for fear. We discussed the higher intention of the gremlin and he learned that his fear was there, working with his other self to try and help him with his desires and ambitions. If you understand your fear, you can work with it, listen to it even and then move it aside so that you can cross the old rickety bridge and get to the other side. There's a sweet cherry tree in my garden. All branches to the top are filled with cherries and I already ate all in reachable distance. Besides me there's a colony of red ants that climb the tree for refuge or whatever else.. so satisfying my cravings wouldn't be without a mild torture. In a couple of weeks birds will pick all of them and there will be nothing left to snack on. #metaphorsforlife

Liquid eyeliner can sense your fear. You have to stare it down and be the boss of it. 😂😂😂 I'm glad to say after the longest time of avoiding it and now a few months of keeping at it I'm getting better. It's SUCH a good feeling, even though it's such a stupid thing to be proud of. I've never been one of those easy people who are naturally good at things. Anything I've accomplished has come after great struggle, and you know what? If that's my journey I'm ok with it. Because even the silliest things can bring joy when you've experienced struggle to add context. How can you know you're tenacious if everything goes your way? How can you know you're not a quitter if you've never persisted?
