Mermaid Huntress is a sapphic enemies-to-lovers romance between a mermaid and warrior girl. Will Meela choose to save her people or the mermaid she loves? Based on Tiana Warner's award-winning Mermaids of Eriana Kwai trilogy.

1773: Tadhgs Brust hob und senkte sich schwer und schnell. Seine Lunge schien zu glauben, nie wieder die Möglichkeit zu haben, auch nur einen Atemzug zu tätigen. Er konnte immerhin noch immer das ganze Wasser an seinem Körper spüren und Teile davon schienen auch in seiner Lunge gelandet zu sein. Auch nach einigen Minuten, in denen er nur zwischen Husten und Atmen entscheiden konnte, wollte sein Körper sich immer noch nicht beruhigen. Als Seemann nicht schwimmen zu können, war nicht gerade schlau, aber auch nicht ungewöhnlich. Und die See war stürmisch, unbeugsam und gefährlich. Das hatte er schon immer gewusst; und sein Vater auch. Das hatte aber niemanden davon abgehalten ihn bei der ersten Gelegenheit auf ein Schiff zu verfrachten und an diese Art von Arbeit zu bringen. Vierzehn Jahre war es gut gegangen, ohne, dass er je über Bord gegangen war. Dabei hatte er schon einige Male mit angesehen wie die See die Leute verschluckten; auf dem Schiff und an anderen Stellen. Sein Respekt war daher schon immer groß gewesen – bis jetzt. Es war nicht mehr nur Respekt vor den Walen und Haien, die sie bereits einige Male gesehen hatten. Es war das, was ihn greifen konnte, was ihn in den letzten dreißig Minuten gejagt, gepackt und mit in die Untiefen hatte ziehen wollen. Ein Schauer überkam ihn, während George ihm auf die Schulter klopfte. „Mensch, Junge… Du hast uns einen Schrecken eingejagt.“ Der bereits an die sechzig grenzende Mann hatte ihn angesehen, doch Tadgh bekam seinen Kopf nicht hoch. Sie alle waren nass und erschöpft, doch nur Tadhg war über Bord gegangen. Als er seinen vor Nässe triefenden Schopf hob, konnte er in Georges Augen erkennen, dass er nicht daran geglaubt hatte, ihn je wiederzusehen. Und er selbst hatte auch nicht daran gedacht, dass er nun wieder an Bord sitzen würde. Seine blutenden Ohren und das Kratzen in seiner Lunge waren zu der Alternative also nur eine harmlose Nebensächlichkeit. „Komm, Junge.“, konnte er den Alten sagen hören. Sein Blick ging zum Inneren des Schiffes. Doch als er aufstand, drehte er sich noch einmal um und konnte geradewegs in den Sturm sehen, dem sie entkommen waren. Dabei schien er die Schreie, die er unter dem Wasser gehört hatte, erneut zu hören; nur leiser und weiter weg. Und sie würden ihn in jedem seiner Träume heimsuchen, ebenso wie die blonden Haare, die grünen Augen und die Silhouette ihres Fischschwanzes.

2023: Zweihunderfünftzig Jahre später hatte er längst gefunden, wonach er gesucht hatte. Und es hatte ihm ein Leben geschafft, mit dem er so wenig umgehen konnte wie mit der Tatsache, dass es Meerjungfrauen wirklich gab. Geburtstage hörte er auf zu zählen, Erinnerungen verblassten und nichts konnte mehr den Wert des richtigen Lebens gleichkommen. Das Einzige, das blieb, war die süße Hölle, die ihn Nacht für Nacht heimsuchte.

Fan Theory - h2o season 3/Birds of Prey Analog

I know that H2O was an Australian teen drama with the original concept of three teenage girls who are also mermaids, as a kid I liked to watch the show, and now that I'm also a comic book fan and aspiring creator, i couldn't notice that the final season of the show is a little remind me of Gail Simone's run on the birds of prey.

Because i think that each mermaid remind me one of the members in BOP:

The stench, that horrid stink of stagnant salted blood, creeping through her nostrils, burning them on their way to scrape her throat. That is the all too familiar scent of the Sanguine Sea, the tide that swallowed the Legion of the Daughters of the Sun, in their most ambitious campaign to conquer the Cemetery of Arks in the Dried Pass, in honor of the Kingdom of Dorok and the Three Eyed Sun.

The unbreakable juggernaut flinches for the first time in a thousand years against the creaking opening of a scallop Demon that hosted a Sanguine Siren inside, a monstrous, sublime muse of the deep abyss.

Renkora anticipated any other kind of Demon hiding inside of this scallop, perhaps a carrion craving Fleshmorph, or a lone Manticore. To her shock, halting the powerful swing of her cleaver that went straight for the neck, in sheer horror, of the unfolded memories forced back into her mind through that accursed smell of the sea.

Her other arm freezes as well, her axe held up high, unable to swing it forward, for an easy, clean slay. This Siren is playing tricks on the mind of the Knight, but in the end, hatred overcomes the paralyzing fear. And the axe is released from the froze, swinging for the skull.

INKMalia 2022: Day 4 - Scallop

“Renkora discovers the hardened shell of a monstrous scallop fiend.

The stench of demon blood infused saltwater takes her back to her days in the Cemetery of Arks.

She pries the shell open with her powerful arms, in search of luscious treasure, only to be clawed at by a vicious siren. Taken aback, Renkora swings her axe out of instinct directly into the siren’s face.”

Irredeamable developpement retrospective Part 3: The fountain So just as presented in the last part, this was my attempt at creating a single complex and interconnected setting for all of my games. I even had a bunch of games planned for this, including one some of you may have seen before.

This game was made on a whole other engine, so i won`t linger too much on it, but the planned story was about a small elf huntress, ascending the great titan (giant tree) to find increasingly imposing preys to hunt, such as troglodytes (giant frog people), drakes, wyrms, other sentient bugs and concluding on a battle with the nevermore, a black crow/dragon that served as the god of the tree.

Anyway, back to our actual game. The fountain took place in a nexus between several worlds, where several species from all over the multiverse lived, including humans, lizardfolk, goblins, elves, trolls, and several races of fae. At the heart of this world, was the coveted fountain, a well of pure magic that was the source of all reality and could remake it to the whims of any who were bold enough to find and use it.

From this premise, a main game was planned, an epic journey through the crossroads of lands, where a group from different races would meet and unite in their common quest to find the fountain and achieve their deepest wishes.

So the journey starts on human lands, a continent consisting of mostly deserts. The fountain is where i finally settled on an aesthetic for humans, making them mechanical, and fire-themed. They usually wield guns and use the metal, oil, and coal of their land to build fiery machines and factories. Other stories also give them the ability to nearly fully mechanize their bodies, turning themselves into metal demons. the second area would have been the lizardfolks/mermaid archipelago (don't ask why they are the second to last area in the plans, i dont know either) These would be themed around water and serve as an artificial/life amphibious force, working under the centaurians from the last few settings. The mermaids specifically were centaurians-humans hybrid, hence why they have features of both. Then the group arrives upon the mainland, where they are met with an overgrown swamp, infested with demi-fae, a group of several races mixed with fae blood, giving them the ability to use magic. This is followed by a series of urbanized forests controlled by the tiny, but industrious elves who are able to build dozens of man-sized war machines. The last obstacle on the journey is the shadowlands, a dark, cold, and desolated region, guarded by a race of ancient stone creatures. These old traditionalists and users of mystical shadow arts despise change and will do anything to prevent the fountain from being tampered with. ( i remember hearing the line "dwarves are incorruptible as stone" in shadow of mordor and it stuck in my head ever since, becoming a defining aspect of the trolls in my own stories.") And finally, the fountain, a place of infinite potential and home of the Fae, creatures that have been encountered during the whole journey, avatars of magic, nature and change. The fountain is a fantastical realm, a city of candy, floating over an ever-flowing lake of golden honey. The purest of faes reside in this realm, but they are far from the nature-loving beings met in the outside world. These Faes are cruel and ravenous, eager to consume the world and make a new one that will one day also be ruthlessly consumed.

Anyway, as you can tell from all the lore, i ended up putting a whole lot of effort into that setting. There was even supposed to be a whole second half of the game where the characters made their wish and the world would be twisted by the Fae magic into nightmares that would have to be fought and repelled before they replaced the region. We are slowly, but surely getting close to the end of this retrospective. Next we will go into the game that ended up giving irredeamable much of its mechanics. A small, self-contained story that ended up bridging the gap between the fountain and the current setting i have been building. See you in part 4: The city of dolls.

REVERSAL AU - Communication is Important

Aaaaaand, since I finally got around to drawing Huntress Baron's design...here's a little comic of some of my personal favorite dialogue from my Reversal AU Mermaid Falls transcript!

PANEL 1:

RISKY: ENOUGH! Ignoring your...incredibly disturbing home decoration plans for the moment - what do you want with the Giga Mermaid!?

HUNTRESS BARON: Huh?

PANEL 2:

RISKY: ...Your demands. For the hostage situation with her.

HUNTRESS BARON: Who?

PANEL 3:

RISKY: Giga Mermaid? The mermaid queen?

HUNTRESS BARON: ...

RISKY: ...THE GIANT MERMAID TIED UP BEHIND YOU!?

A retelling of Peter Pan in ancient Greece

Change Peter to Artemis and the Lost Boys to her huntresses.

Change Tiger Lily's people to Scythian raiders, but depict them more respectfully than the "Indians" in Peter Pan tend to be portrayed. Maybe even have the Tiger Lily equivalent join Artemis's hunt?

Tinker Bell could be some sort of nymph.

Keep the mermaids and pirates, as the ancient Mediterranean had plenty of mermaid tales and piracy.

Not sure if the Wendy equivalent should join the hunt in the end, or return home like she does in the original novel. In either case she's probably gay, though. If she does go home, she'll presumably always remember Artemis as "the one that got away." Though maybe Wendy ends up learning poetry from Sappho, which would cheer things up a bit.

(He's not looking for a way out of the curse. He's just trying to help the girl he found crying in the woods. The curse protects him; he doesn't want it broken. But he does want Mira to love him, and he can't have one without the other.)

3. Take Off Your Happy Face - in  progress, will start posting on AO3 in the fall

(With Batman and the Joker dead, Harley takes Robin and runs. She doesn't know how to be a mother; she barely knows how to be an adult. But she's all he has, so she'll have to figure it out.)

4. When the War Ends - in progress, will be published in 2025 or 2026

(Nine years ago, Eloise's lover betrayed her, launching their kingdom into a three way war. Now, Eloise has been kidnapped, and her captor has offered a way to end the war. But can she trust the future of her country to a man who's hurt her so much?)

("Rescued" from his mother and unwillingly restored to his original form, Tip is made queen of Oz. Unable to return to his old life or his old body, he--she?--works with what he has. At least Dorothy is cool.)

(Sandra Woosan takes in her daughter from an alternate universe. She has zero experience with children. Her daughter is a zombified assassin who can't speak or understand any language Sandra knows. What could possibly go wrong?)

(A Talonized Stephanie Brown joins Oracle, Huntress, and Black Canary in New Gotham. Set in the world of the 2002 Birds of Prey TV show.)

(Martha's baby is dead, and her sanity is shaky at best. Thomas is seriously considering a future in vigilante justice. Alfred only took this job as a favor to his father, and he thought he would be managing a household, not babysitting adults. A brainwashed teenager can't possibly improve this situation, but, well. She's here now.)

(Duela and Talon are home with their parents. Owlman is dead, and Gotham is healing. But Talon's been through twenty years of brainwashing and torture, and recovery isn't easy.)

(Siri sells herself to a talking bear to save her starving family. When she learns that her best friend and fellow prisoner Mikkel is actually the bear in another form, she wants to be angry, but she'll have to rescue him from his evil troll stepmother before she can yell at him.)

(A speedster and an alien arrive. A junior superhero team forms. Secret identities are revealed. Tim and Jason reconnect with their families.)
