I feel like a lot of Merlin fans go through these 2 phases, in this order:

“oh my god Colin Morgan!”

And then

“oh my GOD Bradley James!”

Watching Bradley closely shows such a depth of his talent. For as big and loud and dorky as Arthur can be, Bradley portrays moments of betrayal and pain and trauma so subtly that it gives an overall impression without the obvious tears. He does cry, for example, in the scene where Merlin confesses his magic. But they didn’t catch the tear roll on camera. You can see it on this face though. He’s a king who was never allowed that kind of weakness by his father. But man does he feel it then.
