i do think merlin and arthur had the perfect dynamic. an episode would end with arthur being like merlin you're my closest friend and confidante and the greatest man i've ever met. and merlin would be like i'd kill and die for you we are two sides of the same coin. and then you'd start the next episode and it would begin with arthur smacking merlin upside the head and calling him an ugly peasant and merlin calling arthur a fat idiot.

We all hate Uther, but I have to admit, the scene in “The Beauty and The Beast, pt.2”, where the troll gifts Uther dung over the council table, has to be one of the most hilarious moments of those two episodes.

Like, Uther going OhOh, AND SMILING LIKE AN IMBECILE, IT’S TOO FUNNY, AND KATRINA IS SO PROUD TOO, WHILE THE KNIGHTS AND LEON DIE IN THE BACKGROUND LMAO😭

I might try to draw a screen grab from each episode of Merlin whilst playing with my art style at the same time.

So here is episode one!

I kind of want Merlin's secret life a bit more systematic. I want him to have a Perry the platypus and doofenschmirtz dynamic with some random evil king/Spirit or whatever. Can be funny or more serious.

And then one day, after Merlin's magic is revealed through an accident, Arthur and Merlin are alone in the forest. While Arthur complains about everything that's happening, Merlin be like: pssst, he's here.

Arthur: who?

Spirit king: Emrys.... Emrys where are you? *Wave of destruction in his wake*

Arthur: the fuck is that?

Merlin: that's the tavern I usually go to. Now be quiet, he wants me dead!

Here again wailing my vocal cords about the fact that arthur was going to legalise magic in the disir if merlin had just said so. this is not a merthurfication of the show i swear, but pure blatant fact. Arthur was terribly conflicted at that choice, because something in him was telling him in bold exclamation marks that "perhaps my father was wrong" and if he had found the reassurance of that statement from merlin, if merlin just simply hinted it, arthur would have legalised magic.

But instead he sees fear in merlin's eyes, and there was no way arthur would ever take a decision that might relatively hurt merlin.

I always am curious why merlin didn't knock when he went to Morgana's chambers. Even if the door was ajar and then he just accepts his fate and pretends to be Gwen lmao like what. The first episode is so wild. Also that Gwen just accepts him being there so readily lmfao

I can really recommend merlin, it's great show and especially the end is supreme. In the end even the writers shiped them. "and to be fair, we did very genuinely think of the episode as a love story between two men"

hey anon? you sent this back in january, and i was like "neat, noted, not right now," not anticipating that a few months later a mutual of mine would start flooding my dashboard with merthur gifsets, sealing my fate. i decided to see if there was any good fic, and it RUINED MY LIFE. literally. why is there so much?! why is it so good?! the last few months, i have read.... thousands.... of merlin fics on ao3. i have read all my bookmarks multiple times. millions and millions of words. i'm obsessed in a way that reminds me of early days obikin. there is just Something About It, that i haven't resolved in my mind. the tragedy is so perfect and so infuriating and so satisfying. merlin and arthur's dynamic is so complex and fascinating and i can see facets of myself on both sides of it. it drives me insane because it's not fixed and settled; i only started writing obikin because i felt like i came to understand them well enough to write my own, but merthur is still Unsolved to me. i can't escape because i don't yet Understand. @merthurianity is my sideblog where i've tried to channel this energy reblogging infinite pictures of their dumb faces. it's not helping lol doubtless it's actively interfering with my writing obikin. but yes thank you im suffering and i wouldn't give it up for anything

idk why but the trope where character a changes the routine or something in the daily life of character b and character b complains and gets annoyed at the new addition and then suddenly one day character a gets genuinely upset and stops doing said thing which then makes character b all ☹️wheres the thing i miss the thing but has to pretend they want it back and is only doing it for character a’s sake when we all see its just them being in love or whatever is something i fucking LOVE to see?? every time???
