Since watching the ending of The Umbrella Academy I can't help but think of these as the merigold flowers, I loved the first two seasons of this show but the rest is haunting me. Still crying over I Think We're Alone Now though

Okay I have a question, it might just be because I’m stupid and I need someone to explain it to me.

But if the merigold was causing the end of the world/the split of the timelines, and in the s4 timeline the umbrella academy were just regular people, why didn’t regie’s wife just destroy the merigold, like why not just feed it to jennifer from the start and like kill her or even start the clense there,,,, why involve the siblings at all, why start that weird little goose chase. It’s not like she didn’t have access to jennifer, her literal husband was keeping her captive. And it’s not like reggie didn’t understand her reasoning at the end, in fact he switched sides pretty quickly.

So like am I stupid or is this a plot hole???
