Happy day, @naffeclipse !! (right click each for better quality fghgdf) Apex Polarity had me in a choke-hold and ough ;o; the ending was so intense and then so lovingly soft, I knew I wanted to draw it as soon as I was done reading. 3 days after starting it, here we go! It got away from me a bit at the end cause it was just meant to be a sketch comic but heehoo Thank you for such a lovely piece of fanfic!! <3 <3

Hi I actually finished this design last year (November 8th) and am just now posting since it's mermay again heh..... I had watched so many deep sea videos on youtube to figure out how I wanted to make him. Thats where I learned that in darker parts of the ocean, you can be such a strong color of red and it makes you practically invisible to other sea creatures of that depth. I think it would be so funny for Y/N to be going deeper than ever, finds Eclipse, who thinks they can't see him, only for him to be the most visible thing within Y/N's scuba lights. Real hiding behind a pole, but you can still see my whole body vibe. (It's also what gets him super interested in Y/N)

Hello again, ladies, gentlemen, and creatures of the night.

As of today, 25/05/2025, it marks a whole year since the release of Chapter 1 of Celestial Scales.

Yes, I'm aware on the image it says "Anniverary", my app crashed suddenly and I didn't notice it hadn't saved that change until after saving everything as pngs-- I also have no idea what happened to one of Eclipse's arms, it went missing at some point LMFAO

Anyway! Celestial Scales was like Emotional Support Staff, a pure impulsive decision - no plot, no direction, no notes, I just dove into it. Celestial Scales was a huge learning curve from ESS, since I had to learn to write facial expressions and environments in more detail than ESS.

Despite that, I've had a lot of fun writing it! It was due to finish in June of this year, but after everything I had no reason or motivation for literally anything. This is one of my first creative pieces in months-

I have only drawn Moon twice, and Sun once, and while I wanted to add them to this piece later on, I was having a lot of trouble keeping Medibang open at all, let alone saving my art at all, so a lot of stuff I wanted to add was unfortunately not an option.

I truly do thank everyone who has read my works, especially to those who have commented and shared the things I've made, especially in times where I feel so hopeless. I do read them all, and I try to respond to as many as I can. Thank you so much for reading up until this point.

Basic info on this AU:

- Semi hibernate? Their burrow is large enough for the three of them to curl up with one another and call it good for few months. Sun on repeat is the first to wake. He likes chewing on the ice for frozen fish

- NONE OF THESE FUCKERS ARE REMOTELY RELATED

- Moon is really the only one with the Crescent motif due to scarring

- these three are not very good with human interactions due to past instances with the older generations

- Our MC is a bit more sensitive things that should hurt or inconvenience them is going to make them upset

- Gonna do my best to keep it ambiguous, tho any smut writing I do will be AFAB cause I'm a baby and still getting comfortable with writing AMAB smut be gentle with me ;u;

MC Information:

- Bought the lake house to continue personal hobby of photography

- works remote from home on data entry

- Will remain mostly ambiguous through story, but is AFAB

- Goes by They/Them

- Vague backstory, allows reader to more seamlessly insert themselves in (Was raised in the area so its not completely alien to them)

Property Information:

- House is a 3 br 2 bth

- rather small. Smaller rooms and bathroom downstairs, master bedroom + bathroom. Separate closet space for storage

- the lake is mostly on a nature preserve, a small private section to MC's lake house + dock

- private area happens to be where the mers took up residence

- The lake isn't small, but it's not massive either, could easily swim from 1 side to the other under an hour

- Lake is mostly clear, the floor made up of natural water grasses and other green growth + logs

- Fishing is allowed, but restricted year round for specific species

- Sun, Moon, and Eclipse are not recorded due to their skittish nature

- House is very much a fixer-upper. Gonna give MC something to do

I had no clue what I was doing for Y/N, at first I was like, cool, they'll be an orca mer, then I added the spots and I was like: oh sick-! They're a seal-orca hybrid! And I thought it was cool, so I kept it......... who else wants to know their parent's love story?

Reread @naffeclipse’s fic Apex Polarity and I simply could not get the thought of meeting Eclipse in a warmer area out of my head. I think it would be funny and leave more opportunities for Eclipse to be “curious” or learn more about human things. Specifically I love the idea of introducing him to pool floateies and I don’t know why

Not to mention I think it would be easier for his courting intentions to be realized sooner, since he can have you around for longer without danger to yourself or raising suspicion. Just a fun idea I think

I’m also wanting to change the name of the AU since I was originally just gonna have it be about moon and y/n going through a mer/human relationship but now I have all three and feel like there’s a better name I could use thematically. They’re all based on tiny venomous guys so maybe something to do with that?
