Reader being the grump ( maybe not a grump but maybe sad or depressed) and James being the sunshine who making lunch for grumpy in the cutest way possible (little notes, heart-shaped sandwiches, always adding their fave snack) ?

James knows it’s hard sometimes, always being happy and preppy, he gets it. Your usual grumpiness is endearing, but this is something else, something that if left to fester will only get worse.

So James does what he knows will help- he takes care of you.

You’re getting ready for work, today’s outfit compensating heavily for your bad mood with purples and pinks that you know will make the kids happy.

James wants to make you happy for real (even if only for a bit), and so he gets to work before heading out to the ranch.

He’d gotten a few gadgets and had been desperate to try them out and this was his chance.

You only see your packed lunch bag on the counter, the yellow still bright. “Thanks Jamie, love you.”

He smiles, kissing your forehead, “I love you too, angel.”

When you open your lunch at work you can’t help the smile. James has made you heart shaped sandwiches, melon balls and there’s even your favourite yogurt bar in there- with all the dried berries and raisins.

It makes your heart swell.

You take a quick picture to send to him, one of you smiling. “You’re the best Jamie, thank you.”

Your phone pings quickly after, “You look gorgeous. You’re welcome angel, early dinner and cookies tonight?”

You really really do love him.
