God there's something that drives me crazy about it how Lilia and Malleus have been putting Silver to sleep for years using Meleanor's lullaby. You might have talked about it before but ugghhhhhhh as wild as she was, she obviously wanted to be an amazing mother for her kid, and now her caretaking is even reaching the baby of the man who killed her. They're everything they drive me nuts!!!!!

I actually don't think I've talked about the lullaby before!! I've written one little ficlet about Meleanor surviving and Lilia adopting Silver as one big happy family (which I should revisit honestly . . . I live for Auntie Mel who will melt the faces off anyone human or fae or Lilia who causes her precious godchild to cry <3) but I've not talked about the lullaby!!

In regards to Lilia, the usage of the lullaby speaks such volumes to me of how he's already accepted Silver as his son and how he's refused to let the past/Silver's heritage taint his view of this truly innocent child. Silver's father was the one to battle against Meleanor and strike that final blow that destroyed her— the knight would be rightfully responsible for not only potentially decimating a kingdom and leaving it leaderless, but for killing a mother before she ever got to see her son, killing a wife still searching for her husband, and directly killing one of (at the time) Lilia's only two loves in his life. It would not be absurd for Lilia to withhold the lullaby from Silver out of respect for Meleanor, knowing her disdain for the human race and the ties that Silver unfortunately shares to her demise.

But instead, he does not see (as much as he may struggle to accept this change in his heart) a prince of an enemy nation or the son of a murderer— he cradles the warm, heavy bundle in his arms close, breathes in the sweet scent of the spring, and feels that tiny heartbeat as it tries to sync up with his own breathing. That baby— that's his Silver. His child that he's blessed and named, his own son for all the cognitive dissonance he exhibits when he struggles to come to terms with how much he cares for, loves the boy. And what does a parent do to soothe a fretful child in need of comfort? They sing a lullaby.

(He thinks Meleanor would understand. Perhaps he even feels her singing through him to the child. And when Silver drowsily blinks his dawn-swept eyes up at his papa, Lilia can only poke his cheek with a smile, wondering if this little human would have been the one to tame the mighty dragon, just as he's softened this old bat's heart.)

For Malleus and Silver, ugh their relationship is so complex and special to me. We have two princes who would have been raised on opposite sides of the battlefield, and frankly, Silver would most likely have died before Malleus could even learn to speak the common tongue. Just like Lilia and Silver, these two should never have met, and yet here we have Mal, strolling around this dinky little cottage with a human babe cradled in his arms, trying his best to soothe its forlorn cries for its father with a distant memory. A prince caring for another little prince, unknowingly welcoming the son of the man who killed his mother into his heart with so much fierce devotion that he would stop the world to keep Silver's tears from falling (I fully believe Lilia would have walked unscathed out of NRC and none of this overblot would have happened the moment that it did regardless of Mal's stewing emotions— but when he saw Silver weeping, he was not going to allow this charade to continue any longer).

But this lullaby surviving for centuries past Meleanor, and how it will continue to survive when Malleus passes it on to his own children, and Silver to his, it gives Lilia a glimpse of the hope he wishes for the future. Between his beautiful child and his noble prince, perhaps they can accomplish what their fathers and mothers could not.

GAHHHHHH THIS ONE IS AMBESSA *shakes you aggressively* GUHHH even though she’s more represented by fire. this song is about her taking control to protect what is Hers, even if she strays away from herself in the progress. i would pay someone to make an edit of Mel and ambessa to this song but I will probably do it myself so make ur offer fast. could also be Caitlyn and Maddie in the bridge, if you think about it. and i do think. all the time constantly i am not normal about this album.

3. An Act of Kindness

Hrngh………… jinx and silco………. the way his outstretched hand shaped her life…. how he was the only one there for her…… AND NOW IT FOLLOWS ME EVERY DAY?!?!!?! ugh this HITS DIFFERENT.

this one was hard to assign because i have Opinions Thoughts and Feelings about it in real life, but im going to give this one to Vi and Jinx both, but both about the ghost of each other that’s been hanging over their heads for years. jinx has the ghost of vi who betrayed her, who left her, and vi has the ghost of powder, who she can’t believe is gone. it’s a different tone than the song has for me in real life, which is fun!! love to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway in the end of the show obviously they let go of old ghosts, so there’s that. there’s still hope.

7. Two Evils

this one hit me like a truck full of lead because I’m writing all of these live as i listen to the songs on a train. this is CAITLYN. this is Lady Macbeth herself. fighting corruption that bubbles up from her own throat, clawing at the crown that cuts her head, staring her mother down in the mirror. hunting the Zaunites like animals, losing herself and finding herself in the pieces below. “it pays to be the nice guy sometimes” it sure does cait GAHHHHHHGH i need everyone to listen to this album Now.

I’ve watched this episode multiple times already but honestly it doesn’t get any easier. Here we go I guess 😩

- I still can’t believe that they somehow heard our outcry about what would happen to Gonky, Lula, and Tech’s goggles if they blew up the Marauder, and decided to save EXACTLY those three things 🤣 (and Wrecker. So glad Wrecker is “relatively” okay, poor boy)

- It’s so interesting to me how touchy CX-2 is with Omega. Why all the shoulder pushes? Shoulder touches are very much a form of affection and communication among clones. Has that impulse in him just been turned to violence?

- Sooo…we basically will never get wet hair Hunter 🤣🤣🤣 I’ll take this much dripping and cute Batcher scratches compensation though

- Okay. I’m just going to say it. The way they chose to have Crosshair miss the tracking device was so disappointing to me. Not the fact that he missed, but how he missed. Having him be distracted and fend for his life and be late for the shot was great. But I wish they had brought his hand tremble into play here as the main mechanism behind why he missed. They’ve been building that up all season and it would have made perfect sense. Instead he rushes and like trips and just shoots too early? So out of character. I didn’t like it and still don’t :(

Anna

Saturdays were always the hardest shifts for Anna. Exhaustion followed her from room to room and patient to patient, fought off by endless cups of coffee and the warmth of knowing she'd get to go home to her family when it was all over. Today though, there was an added layer of jitters that settled into her stomach, making her wonder if she would need to up her dosage until Cam left town again.

God, that was going to suck. Maybe she should consider anti-depressants like her last psych had suggested. Losing him again, when it had barely been a year since Dad passed? Ugh, there was that annoying pang in her chest.

Again she found herself almost wishing he'd just come back home and acted as if she hadn't existed - maybe she could have found an excuse to get out of town had she known he was coming. Now that he was here though, and looking at her in that way only he did, she couldn't help but being transported into being the same idealistic silly girl who'd thought that maybe if she hung on long enough he'd realize that she'd never stopped loving him - no matter how many times he'd left her behind.

"You're gonna be late for church" her coworkers voice broke through the noise, making her grin brightly at the other girl, "Right! Time flies when you're having fun" she joked, not realizing that she'd just been staring up at the ceiling in the locker room.

The cool breeze of the early morning had always been her favorite, there was something so peaceful, so profound about being able to share the silence of early morning - and she was thrilled that Beau had been so eager to share something so special with her. It was worth losing all the sleep her body was desperately craving, and he never seemed to mind when she would inevitably end up falling asleep, fishing rod in hand. He would simply place a blanket over her until it was time to go, when he'd gently rouse her and they'd catch up on their week on the drive back home - both expertly dancing around the subject of Cam's return.

The house was always extra quiet when they got back, and had it not been for the smell of fish lingering on her, she would've found herself crashing right into a couch so familiar she was sure there was an indent of her figure in it. "Hey baby" she cooed down at Barker, getting down on her knees to let him get a few good licks in as she petted him, laughing "I'm surprised you're not sleeping with Cam" he perked up at the name, and went off looking for him, tail wagging, "rude" she chuckled as she got back up and went about her usual routine.

It was wonders what a good shower could do to you - her muscles had loosed significantly, and had given her the perfect amount of energy to send her surging headfirst into her usual tasks.

Cam's parents were getting older, a thought she didn't like to linger on, there had already been so much loss in her life - so she had thrown herself headfirst into caring for them, often being the first to arrive and the last to leave. Then again, keeping herself constantly busy gave her the best excuse not to linger on the many thoughts that threatened to drown her if she lingered on them too much. She'd never been really good at sitting still - just in a different way than Cam.

Popping her headphones on, she started up her usual feel good playlist as she danced around the kitchen, quietly singing along as she started working on the first batch of coffee, her hands hesitating on a particular mug, one that had been shelved away many years ago, "oh my God" she chuckled as she looked it over - it was a hideous looking thing, terribly decorated with some badly painted flowers, a stupid crooked heart, a C + A = forever on the side.

She jolted slightly when Mel's familiar hand landed on her shoulder, the woman's sweet feature melting with nostalgia as Anna showed her the mug, a short laugh shared between them. "I didn't even know this was still here," she shook her head, popping her headphones off, and wondering how she'd missed it all the other times.

"Cam found it last night" she looked up from the mug at Anna, giving her a look she'd become painfully familiar with over the years.

"Like on purpose?" Anna laughed, trying to push away from the idea that he'd come home and somehow purposefully dug around for it, "pretty sure he's got nicer mugs than that now," she rolled her eyes, sliding a fresh cup into Mel's hands.

"Maybe they're not the right type of mugs for him" Mel mused in that musical fashion she had of doing when she was trying to hint at something else.

"Yeah, maybe" she replied, forcing a smile at her and fighting the way her stomach flipped.

As if catching the shift, Mel moved toward her again, holding her out by the hands in front of her to get a good look at Anna. "Oh my goodness, I hadn't seen this one yet!" she fawned over the flowers Anna had embroidered on the admittedly much nicer jumpsuit than she'd normally be wearing for family brunch.

"Do you like them? I added a little bee here too, see!" she pointed out the little yellow trail she'd made from the flowers up to the bees that met up with the buttons at the sides.

"You are so talented!" Mel's voice was always pure honey, and it was hard not feel a surge of pride. They had always been so incredibly supportive of her, and maybe it was Cam being home again, or the fact that her Father had been such a present thought on her mind lately, but she found herself wrapping her up tightly "I love you," she simply said, the moment suddenly interrupted by Jesse.

"Oh God, its like right out of a lifetime movie" he faked gagged, as Anna and his wife both smacked him simultaneously, each one picking a shoulder.

"You are such an ass" she laughed, rolling her eyes and sliding a mug toward both of them.

"Oooooh Cam comes back into town, and suddenly Anna's all dressy dressy" he teased in that little brother way that she'd always found both endearing and annoying

"Yeah-well-I have a date later-so" she lied, suddenly growing incredibly preoccupied with what was on the stove, happy to have something that would help her hide just how red his comment had made her turn. Was she really that transparent?

1/2 We are finally at 4x11!! I’m sorry that I’m only now back in your inbox but unfortunately i am on a straight mans schedule lol. I’m sorry to hear he’s not been doing well! Watching comfort episodes of a show is legit a fan response to feeling under the weather.

Brian coming up with everyone being in the underwear is 100% hilarious and also something that would not ever happen today. Can you imagine, in 2023, the Me Too response to that scene?

5x17 Oh Celina, poor sweetheart. Ugh, Monica. I'd say ugh Chris as well but Monica outranks the ugh. I'm honestly just surprised Chris didn't instantly evaporate to wherever it is that the exes go on this show.

Okay the adorable way Lucy runs up to Tim, and the smile he has for her. THE SMILE. Good lord they're so in love and I'm just forgetting all foreknowledge I have about S6 and basking in these cute moments. They're so good with kids. SOMEONE GIVE THEM A CHILD PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. Or just let Lucy and Tim hold a baby in front of each other. I've read the fics. They're fucking adorable. Let us see it. 5x18 I'm so thankful for Jake and Sava for letting Eric and Mel break out from Tim and Lucy and just go crazy. It's the absolute best. Although fuck you, Jake. How could you cheat on Sava? Yes I'm getting ahead of myself it's fine. Look how uncomfortable she is without Tim to ground her and keep her company. Even before they were a couple, he always made her feel safe. Tim's refusal to admit he looks anything like Jake is just fucking adorable. Wes and Angela are also adorable. Nyla also. Nolan and Celina are the cutest little brother/sister duo. Ah I love these episodes. Once you remember that they just don't really exist outside of these episodes, they're just such silly fun. Tim coming to save his woman. I know it was to give her the info but it's like his Lucy emergency alert was pinging and he knew he needed to step in. Her soft little hey. The way he says hey back so softly.
