Book Update

Care ≠ Love mention bc I feel like this occurs a lot in media (ie. Dawson's Creek) and out of everything out there, people trying to excuse Mike deliberately using care instead of love when confronted by El for not saying it, as him solely just being scared of losing her, really takes the cake.

If none of this was happening and all we had to go off of was Will’s feelings, I can guarantee you bylers would not be as hopeful as they are.

Because what do you mean Mike is struggling to tell El he loves her? What do you mean his best friend who’s in love with him needs to inspire Mike at every turn in order for him to finally follow through?

With the... Negativity surrounding the trailer for the new megamind movie/show, my brain's wires started wiring and, welp, here's my idea for a Megamind show: Megamind has to learn how to be a proper hero, and Metroman/Musicman (who is still retired) acts like a mentor, from the sidelines.

Here's a dive into how the villains (evil bernard evil bernard) and characters would work ⬇️

Megamind

He still has the attitude and mannerisms of a villain, as he retains his old personality, but is learning the values of being a super hero. He evil-laughs when winning and such, and also is rather awkward around the citizens of metrocity, but is trying his best. He's still trying to win over their trust.

Metroman

By the end of the movie, I'm pretty sure everyone still believes Megamind killed him, which would definitely hinder Megamind's ability to gain their trust. The general public still thinks Metroman's dead, but there are multiple rumours and conspiracy theories of him still being alive, as he still goes out and could be occasionally spotted.

Villains

Bernard, who is a megamind expert, becomes an antagonist. He has a collection of Megamind's old thrown away machines, plus merchandise. He believes that megamind has lost himself and is "boring" now. As such, he uses the holo-watch (found in Megamind's trash) to steal his appearance and cause Havoc, turning the public against him and "bringing back" the villain he's an """expert""" on. Of course, this plan fails, but he becomes a recurring villain whose objective is to return megamind to his old self. This is either through recreating him (holograms, robots, etc) or straight up trying to manipulate him into going back to his old habits. He's still emotionless and seemingly bored most of the time though. Always having a horrible time.

The Child

Specifically the child from "the button of doom" who gets the dehydration gun and turns his mother into an ice cube. I enjoy the idea of a full on villain bratty child who can't be sent to jail, bc he's a child. (Sort of like the kid from Word Girl and the little girl from Powerpuff girls) He could also reflect how Megamind was as a kid. in the end the child isn't literally evil, just immature.

I'm also changing The doom syndicate from a squad Megamind used to be a part of to fellow villains who Megamind hated. (I know they are based on a cut concept for the movie but it was cut for a reason, megamind shouldn't have been part of a squad at all, he only had Minion, that's kinda the point). My idea is that Megamind was the sort of "main villain" to metroman, and he used to make fun of the rest for being his "side villains" lmao. (I would love for metroman and megamind to have a lego joker-batman sort of thing going on)

Also, what if the villain scene was sort of competitive. They didn't have any respect for each other, and they all worked alone. Until now, considering from their perspective Megamind killed Metroman. They see him as a bigger threat now, and also want to beat him up bc he was the most annoying "fellow villain". As such, they join forces and form the doom syndicate. Although, I do like the idea of them appearing one by one across the show before forming the squad. (Perhaps like a season finale)

Tighten is tricky because he's been dealt with in the movie and it'd be repetitive to fight him again. Although, I think some random scientist villain giving him powers again could have potential, as he's the number 1 Megamind hater and is easily manipulated... Food for thought

On a more serious note, I haven't watched the movie yet, only the trailer/first 6 minutes, and damn are they my favorites so far. Nighty Knight is for sure my #1, but I like the other villains as well.

The writing was... well, writing all right. Some of the animation bothered me and most dialogue was just.. eugh. Maybe it gets better (press x to doubt). I'll watch the movie and show once I can bootleg them, because I'm not paying for that shit.

okay hi its me im here for the aforementioned criticism of

disclaimer: i only watched the first half of this movie before leaving in irritation so there is likely more to be added to my points. or less. who knows

this isnt even going to be a criticism of the horrible animation. the movie looks like it was made on an overmodded game of the sims 4 at best. that is pre-established, one glance at this atrocity and you can tell the animation quality is a giant issue for something marketed as a movie. my biggest thing though is the names.

ohh my god. holy shit. THE NAMES.

first of all let me establish my undying love of minion from megamind. i admire that guy with all of my heart. if the original megamind movie was solely about minion i would have been just as if not far more happy with it.

now obviously the copyright joke is relating to despicable me/the minions. but here’s the thing: they didn’t stop saying minion. they just went from calling a primary character minion to calling a DIFFERENT, NON-PRESENT CHARACTER MINION. WHAT.

like. how does just having a character get sued for his name resolve the (real?? nonexistant???) copyright issue????? going from calling the character minion to having all the characters start saying “Actually We Cannot Call Him That Because of Mr. Minion’s Meat Sticks™️” DOES NOT STOP THE FACT THAT THERE IS A CHARACTER CALLED MINION.ITS JUST A DIFFERENT CHARACTER NOW.

But okay!! you know what? i can get over that, right? to anyone who does not yet know where this is going, do me a favor and come up with any name you think would better fit minion from megamind. got your answer? guess what! you automatically win!! because anything you could have said is better than

my last note on this is that he is actually just dark laser from the fairly odd parents which also should have warranted a cease and desist

the original megamind movie: incredible satire of the superhero genre about an alien guy who's bad at being a villain, an alien superhero who wants to retire, a reporter lady who wants the best for everyone and is very used to the whole hero/villain thing, and her weird incel guy friend who keeps going way too far because he's a creepy incel

the new "sequel" megamind movie and series: literally hot garbage made for children and making the characters all stupid and dumb and remaking megamind's backstory so they can fit in more characters for. some fucking reason. miraculous ladybug show ass story plotline, but WORSE because it's borrowing from a previously existing thing AND COMPLETELY CHANGING IT
