Let the Auctions Begin

And the FTH auctions have just opened! (How did you post this so early in your morning, Medusa, don't you sleep until noon? Scheduled posts, my friend.)
I would say take a look at the whole selection of MCYT on offer, or cruise through the entire 600 tags of different fandoms, but I am here specifically to point to my auction! Don't you want to donate money to charity and get me to make your prompt a reality? I said any charity would work, so you can choose from the entire list.
I will write: DSMP, QSMP, Origins SMP, SMPEarth, or Original Work! If you've been on this page you know what characters I specialize in (it's emduo, I know this is a shock to us all), but I'm pretty confident that I can take either side of emduo and pair them with any other character, and I could write that. BBH and Technoblade are the light of my life for the duration of the time it takes to write the fic. However, if you look at my Ao3 and say "what I dearly want is for Medusa to write me awesamponk", I'd be fascinated to know if you've been hoping for that the whole time I keep uploading more syndicate (heartbreaking), but also I will give that an honest shot if you win my auction. And I love original work! Make me make up new blorbos that will live in my head forever!
Again, if you've seen my Ao3 then knowing that what I listed as my strengths are: friendship, queerplatonic relationships, hurt/comfort, minecraft worldbuilding, canonical family (qsmp), and humour. I've got that in the bag and I've done that for exchanges and for Voices for the Blade prompt fest. Got a set of blorbos or an original work prompt in that niche? I can make that happen for you with great emphasis. Want the characters to be neurodivergent and disabled? In a relationship that's a secret third thing between friendship and romance? Banter? I got you.
But for this I will also write ship/smut! Again, if you check my page, this isn't my most experienced section, but I have written it before (mostly Original Work), and for charity I will absolutely make your blorbos kiss. Because I was offering Original Work I felt like saying I'd only do gen OW was kind of like not really offering OW as an option, so— gates wide open. Hit me. If you are over 18 and you are donating to charity for this, the sky's the limit. (Note: the sky is not ACTUALLY the limit, I do have a DNW in place about stuff that I'm not gonna be a great fit for, but mostly I deliberately wanted to leave myself as open as possible because it's for charity!)
And in the complete other direction: I will write non-canon family dynamic for this! You really want Technoblade to be a baby being adopted by dadinnit? For You. For Charity. I Will Make This Happen. Tickled by my sense of humour but you wish they were actually family? 🥺 Here's your chance to send money to charity and make a family of your dreams a reality!
A note on Original Work: this doesn't mean that I'll write your OCs, I cannot promise to reliably do that. What it means is that you give me a prompt like "Teenage Girl Turning Into A Werewolf & Her Sister" or "Retired General/His Arranged Marriage Husband Formerly Enemy General" or "Witch of the Woods/Animal Shifter Stealing From Her House" and I will write you an original story following those prompts with characters I make up from scratch. You can check my series on Ao3 to see examples of Original Work I've published in the past! And here is a tag set of hundreds of original work prompts from the Original 5k exchange!
I think that's everything. Send me an ask or shoot me a message if you have any questions! Five and a half days of auctions, let's see if we can get some money raised for charity!

The Cursed Ebay picture deserves better coverage and respect
If you've been in online spooky-circles at all you recognize the image and probably the name "The Hands Resist Him" by Bill Stoneham.
The story behind it is a tale old as time; and by that I mean a curse. It was painted by Bill Stoneham years ago and was purchased by a hollywood man who then passed away and the picture was auctioned off on ebay -> the people who bought it reported having nightmares and their young daughter thinking the boy and girl in the painting came out to harm her at night. At which point it spread all over the place and the warning that just looking at this picture was cursing you.
I love me some spooky-sinister art history-stories. I'm not going to lie and say there's nothing creepy about this painting. I mean...we have EYES. And yet when you read about it and it's sequels from Stoneham's websites and so also read his intent it's really hard being all that scared of it myself. And yes Stoneham is still painting and made more to the series:
Stoneham's intention of the paintings, being an embarkment into his own creativity and imagination is fascinating. When you learn that's all there is, the atmosphere of the paintings doesn't get less creepy, but it does feel less sinister- more like a dadaesque dream of the subconscious where you're never quite comfortable, but also where you know nothing can really happen or hurt you. A lucid dream almost. The scariest pic, I think, is his last in the series which he called "What Remains", which implies that both the boy and the doll have rotted away.
And yet, even with that bookend, I'd hardly call this the most disturbing art or stories behind art I've ever heard. Not by a long shot.
In my eyes "Man Proposes, God Disposes", "Raft of the Medusa" and ANY of Francisco Goya's black paintings top "Hands Resist Him", simply because of the layout, intensity of the scenes and the history behind them. Really want one of those art history youtubers I watch to do a proper video on "Man Proposes, God Disposes"; it's so disturbing with or without the knowledge of Franklin's Lost Expedition.
Even then I'd hardly call this series even the scariest in surrealist art. Frida Kahlo's self portraits are more distressing to me, and it's not like it's Zdzislaw Bekinski.
What Bill Stoneham deserves is at least his own wikiArt page. It's inexcusable that he doesn't have one already.

It’s an awful painting.
An ENORMOUS old copy of “The Raft of the Medusa” - which didn’t make it off the truck without a couple of holes poked in it….
Suddenly it became MY problem, as it was being delivered by a dealer for auction - and nobody wanted to admit they had damaged it before it even properly arrived.
“Just patch the holes!” he said.
It’s not that easy. Had to pull it from the frame to fit it into the car - and was barely able to shut the back hatch. The tears are only part of the problem - the linen tape patches have to be applied to the back, and the glue must dry naturally while it sits under weights.
Then I mix up rabbit skin glue and whiting under heat, to make gesso to fill in the voids. This dries and is smoothed out. A little varnish is applied, and I went with Matte because the painting has very little sheen to it. The varnish stuck out like a sore thumb, but I started mixing the oil paint to match….
Oil paint takes time to dry, and is done in several layers. Drying between each….
Next coat of varnish, I go with Satin for the sheen. Which changes the touch-up color to where it too now sticks out like a sore thumb.
Back in, fiddle-fucking like mad - and now the color is good, but I will NEVER match the sheen of the varnish.
So I lightly clean the entire canvas. And because the paint is beginning to de-laminate along the lower portion of the canvas - several chunks fall off. Gotta touch those up too….
And I varnish the ENTIRE PAINTING in order to match where I’ve “Just patched it”
All my work will not improve the horrible painting. WHAT is going on with that hand? EXPLAIN to me the anatomy of the guys arm who is waving the flag?!
But my “patches” are fairly invisible - and it went back to where it came from on Thursday.
If I am lucky - I will receive the princely sum of €75.

i've seen you on quite a few fth spreadsheets and am so jealous—oh to be medusa bidding on mcyt auctions with her adult money. out of curiosity, how many auctions have you bid on? :0
Guys right now the starting bids are so low, I'm making out like a bandit. I assumed I would be outbid immediately and I just wanted to kick things off with the people I could donate to from out of country but I'm currently the leading bid on ten auctions. This feels like I'm scamming. I'm some kind of medieval monarch commissioning amazing artists who are lining up to dance to my command. Yes, please, write me a fic to my specifications, yes, please, I WILL have my blorbos delivered to me on a silver platter thank you. *exaggerated sniff*

Beginner Watercolor Painting Tips
Like any new type of art, watercolor painting can be challenging at first. It is only with time and exercise that one becomes a better painter. Never ever become frustrated by your mistakes or lack of advance.
To begin watercolor painting you will certainly require to buy provides. Buy the best achievable components that you can manage. We all want to preserve as much money as achievable, but if you work with cheap components, you are not proceeding to be happy with the end outcome, particularly if you invest days or even months on a specific painting.
This does not indicate you should go out and invest hundreds of dollars on leading of the range provides right away. Begin off purchasing a little amount of good high quality provides till you become more expert.
PAPER:
The quality and structure of the watercolor paper you select will have a impressive impact on the last outcome of your painting. Watercolor paper comes in various categories: cold pressed, hot pressed, and rough. Rough paper has the maximum tooth of all watercolor papers, providing you the most structure. Hot pressed paper has the simplest exterior accessible. Cold pressed paper has a minor texture to it and is more flexible. Cold pressed paper is the most popular paper between watercolor artists.
Two other factors to be aware of when purchasing your watercolor paper are sizing and weight. Sizing is when the elements of the paper are handled to make them less absorbing.
You will have to research with the various papers to obtain the one you like most.
PAINT:
Watercolor paints arrive in both Student and Artist high quality. Artist quality paint has a more strong brilliant color. Student quality paints have more additives in them rather than color, which is why they are less costly. Many performers suggest only using artist high quality paints, but it actually is a issue of taste. Research on your own with both qualities to form your own opinion.
Watercolor paint is accessible in tubes and pans. With watercolor pans, you have to include water to the dry cake in order for it to be usable. With pans, make sure your sweep is clean prior to choosing up a new color; usually you will dirty your colors. With a tube, the paint is more workable, but be cautious not to press out more paint then you require.
Buy only a few main colors and understand how to mix your own colors rather than purchasing premixed colors.
When you become more knowledgeable, you can then start integrating more colors into your palette.
BRUSHES:
Brushes are most likely the most important part of an artist's supplies. The watercolor brush must be of good quality, with the capability to execute well under most situations.
Brushes come in an variety of sizes and shapes. There are both normal hair brushes and artificial brushes. Natural hair brushes are more costly, while artificial brushes may not execute as well as natural brushes. It is therefore suggested that you purchase a combined brush that is made with both organic and synthetic hairs.
You do not require a ton of brushes to get began in watercolor painting. In the beginning, a few excellent brushes should do the technique.
You should at least buy a round brush, a flat wash brush, an square wash or mop brush, and a rigger or liner brush for fine information.

Welcome to the Black Market
I actually watched episode five of Midnight Museum live-ish, so let's see how my theories unraveled in this episode:
The Lotus
The crescent moon, which symbolizes life and death, showed up several times, but the lotus was also clearly shown which symbolizes rebirth (I couldn't figure out if it was a crown or a lotus before). There is also a smaller crescent moon on top of the lotus.
That bbq body is about to get reborn.
Tarot Cards
Khatha was the Hermit, which I guessed he was the Emperor because of his clothing and position in the poster, but the Hermit would make sense since he mirrored the image when he first encountered Dome in the past but he didn't have a lantern, which is a key element to the Hermit due to his introspection.
Sidenote: The Emperor and Justice (who I think Khatha and Bam are) conflict with each other because they are two different types of rule and power.
Triphop was the Chariot, which is powerful and represents overcoming difficulties, but...he hid the card, so I still think he is the Hierophant unless that was his grandfather's position.
The High Priestess was the mystery woman.
New God
Last episode, Dome was told something about his mission involving a new god. The High Priestess left behind a bible with her card in it, and she recited Acts 2.19-2.20:
I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke./ The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
That bbq body is looking more and more godly.
Auction
There are six known Fabergé eggs still missing. They held surprises in them such as pictures or other treasures. The auction featured two because Triphop already lost one, and Khatha was outbid for the other.
Van Gogh created several sunflowers paintings which were part of a series. There are two known ones missing, but Two Sunflowers is not one.
Egyptian canopic jars hold vital organs that were removed during the mummification process. This set features the "four sons of Horus: the baboon 'Hapy,' representative of the North and protector of the lungs; the god 'Duamutef' jackel-headed guardian of the East, who protected the stomach; the hawk 'Qebhsennuf' of the West, protector of the intestines; and the god 'Imsety' of the South, human-headed guardian of the liver." Thank goodness Khatha won this because if homegirl is trying to Frankenstein/Build-a-Bear her way into a god, not having the organs would be a big obstacle.
This is the 1727 'Davidoff, Morini' Antonio Stradivari violin. It was stolen in 1995 from a locked room with no forced entry and hasn't been seen since. Some believe a ghost took it.
Although the the High Priestess bought a lot like Perseus' shield with the head of Medusa
She wasn't there to buy anything. She was there to confirm Khatha has what she needed - Dome, which he did by buying the Onmyōdō necklace. If Dome really is the Magician, he has the power to bring back the bbq body.
Brother?
Nope! We already know they aren't blood related in the past nor the present. Khatha first encounters Dome when his boat drifts to shore. Best Friends Forever maybe, but brothers in the blood-related sense is out the window.
@slayerkitty - Thanks for the heads up as usual, and I'm still rooting for Dome x Khatha. I don't care what this Triphop says.
#Midnight Museum#symbols and theories#tin foil hat time#Khatha x Dome#Brothers?!#Nah#Ain't no other way#They were in love
