EDIT: I am realizing that although I tried to be responsible, I still shared a picture that had no permission to be shown, which I shouldn't have done. I'll leave this post up because it's already been reblogged and it seems best to keep an eye on it. I've turned off the option to reblog on this post.

Tristan appears to be wearing the ribbons for the 1939–43 Star, the Africa Star with the 8th Army clasp, and the Italy Star.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending your perspective) that does seem to indicate a timeskip to 1945 as the third ribbon wasn't instituted until after Victory in Europe.

It also indicates that he was sent back into action at some point, though it could be anywhere from multiple months or years on the Italian campaign, to just being brought in briefly around the capture of Pantelleria.

I can't see his shoulder epaulettes very well but I think he's finally gotten promoted to captain. It looks to me like there's a third diamond shape denoting captain rank. Update: I've just seen another picture where his jacket clearly shows captain rank.
