McLaren Automotive confirms the next chapter in the extraordinary story of its legendary ‘1’ car lineage that started with the now legendary McLaren F1 in the Nineties, by many to be considered the ultimate supercar today, which reflects in the value of this iconic three-seater supercar with a top speed of 240 Mph or 386 km/h, and that’s a world record for a naturally aspirated car that stood for decades, only to be surpassed by cars with forced induction.
Only 100 units of the McLaren F1 are known to exist now. While we are talking about a 30-year-old car, this legend is worth over $20,000,000 today, and that’s for the regular McLaren F1, as there is also an LM version which is even rarer, hence more valuable. It is the idea behind the McLaren F1 that evolved into the next McLaren supercar, the P1, another legend, now with hybrid power, and a direct competitor to the Porsche 918 and Ferrari LaFerrari back in 2013, these three cars were usually called the Holy Trinity of hypercars.
The McLaren F1 had a V12 6-liter engine that delivered 618hp back in 1993, the McLaren P1 from 2013 coupled a V8 3.8-liter engine with a 132 kW electric motor for a combined power output of 903 hp, McLaren built a total of 375 units of the P1, and that does translate into a lower value compared to the much older F1 counterpart, at the time of writing you can find a McLaren P1 for sale between $1,600,000 and $2,400,000, but today McLaren is preparing the next chapter in their supercar series, the McLaren W1, which is set to be revealed at 08:00 ET/05.00 PT on Sunday, 6 October 2024.
The W1 name celebrates McLaren’s World Championship mindset, with the public reveal date marking the 50th anniversary of McLaren winning its first Formula 1 Constructors’ World Championship, and Emerson Fittipaldi winning the 1974 World Drivers’ Championship with McLaren.
“The McLaren W1 is defined by real supercar principles and is the ultimate expression of a McLaren supercar. Born of our rich racing history and World Championship mindset, W1 pushes the boundaries of performance and is worthy of the ‘1’ name. Like its predecessors, the F1 and McLaren P1™, W1 defines the rulebook of a real supercar.” Michael Leiters, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive

The 10 Most Expensive Cars You Can Barely Afford
For those who have a passion for automobiles, luxury cars offer more than just transportation—they are an embodiment of performance, design, and exclusivity. The world’s priciest cars are often limited in production, making them rare treasures that only a select few can own. Here’s a rundown of the 10 most expensive cars that push the limits of luxury and innovation.
1. Bugatti La Voiture Noire – $18.7 Million
Bugatti’s La Voiture Noire is an absolute masterpiece, created as a tribute to the historic Type 57 SC Atlantic. It’s a one-of-a-kind car, featuring a massive 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine that churns out 1,479 horsepower. With its sleek, futuristic design, this car is a true gem of automotive artistry.
2. Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta – $17.5 Million
The Zonda HP Barchetta is Pagani’s crown jewel, combining impeccable Italian craftsmanship with extreme performance. With a powerful 7.3-liter V12 engine delivering 789 horsepower, only three units were ever made, making it one of the rarest supercars on the planet.
3. Rolls-Royce Boat Tail – $28 Million
Tailored to the tastes of its three ultra-wealthy owners, the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail stands at the peak of personalized luxury. It blends yacht-inspired design with high-end automotive technology, powered by a V12 engine that exudes elegance and sophistication in every detail.
4. Bugatti Centodieci – $9 Million
Paying homage to the classic Bugatti EB110, the Centodieci offers unparalleled performance and exclusivity. With only 10 units produced, this supercar is equipped with a monstrous 8.0-liter W16 engine, producing 1,600 horsepower and rocketing from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds.
5. Mercedes-Maybach Exelero – $8 Million
The Mercedes-Maybach Exelero is a striking concept car known for its extravagant design and 700-horsepower twin-turbo V12 engine. As a one-off model, the Exelero combines luxury with top-tier performance, reaching speeds over 200 mph.
6. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita – $4.8 Million
Only two CCXR Trevitas were ever produced, and their bodies are coated with Koenigsegg’s patented diamond weave carbon fiber. Powered by a 1,004-horsepower engine, this Swedish hypercar is both a marvel of engineering and a rare collectible.
7. Lamborghini Veneno Roadster – $4.5 Million
With only nine units ever made, the Veneno Roadster is one of Lamborghini’s most exclusive and eye-catching designs. Its 6.5-liter V12 engine delivers a blistering 740 horsepower, and its sharp, aggressive looks make it a true head-turner on the road.
8. McLaren P1 LM – $3.6 Million
The McLaren P1 LM is the street-legal version of its track-only sibling, the P1 GTR. It delivers 986 horsepower via a 3.8-liter twin-turbo hybrid V8 engine. With just six units ever produced, it’s as rare as it is fast, setting new standards for hybrid supercars.
9. Lykan Hypersport – $3.4 Million
Best known for its appearance in Fast & Furious 7, the Lykan Hypersport is one of the most exotic cars ever made. Featuring diamond-studded headlights and a twin-turbo flat-six engine that produces 780 horsepower, it’s as luxurious as it is powerful.
10. Aston Martin Valkyrie – $3.2 Million
The Aston Martin Valkyrie brings Formula 1 technology to the road. With a hybrid V12 engine that generates 1,160 horsepower, this hypercar delivers unrivaled performance. Its futuristic design and race-ready capabilities make it one of the most desirable cars in the world.
Final Thoughts
These extraordinary vehicles are more than just modes of transportation—they are symbols of innovation, craftsmanship, and exclusivity. Whether it’s the speed, design, or sheer rarity, each of these cars represents the pinnacle of automotive engineering, available only to those fortunate enough to afford the best that money can (barely) buy.

HOLY SHIT. Holy shit. Okay, okay. Calm down Adra, you can do this.
You want some cool cars? I'll give you some cool cars. But still beware that "cool" is extremely subjective and I'm heavily biased towards sports cars and supercars.
But now that that's out of the way-
McLaren 675LT (2017)
First up, the McLaren 675LT. Listing this as my first option because this is my all time favorite car and my dragonsona's car. It's a derivative of the 650S; lighter, faster, and more agile. 8 cylinders, twin turbo, 666 horsepower, 7-speed dual clutch, and 0-100 (or 0-60 if you're American) in just under 3 seconds.
2. Apollo Arrow (2016)
I can't stress enough how mindblowingly awesome this design is. Apollo guys really wanted to be the first to design the world's coolest, edgiest, protagonist hypercar and they delivered exactly that. Unfortunately as far as I'm aware this is only a concept car and no production model is out yet.
3. KTM X-Bow GT-XR (2022)
This is a derivative of the original KTM X-Bow which was a superlight supercompact twin seat sports car, with no roof. Then they developed that into the KTM X-Bow GTX for racing and added a roof to satisfy the regulation, and THEN they developed the racing version into a road-legal version, the GT-XR.
4. Ferrari F40 (1987)
Bet you weren't expecting a nearly 40-year old sports car to be in this list, but you gotta respect the elders. It's terrible by modern standards; bare carbon fibre interior, no internal door handle (you open the door from the inside by pulling a metal wire), no air conditioning (although there is climate control system which if I remember rightly is just one or two tiny fans), and 5-speed H-pattern manual clutch. But it was all for performance and weight-saving.
5. Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 (2013)
The classic Gallardo, made better! I don't know what it is about that new front intake design with that triangular bit, that only appears for the 2013 Gallardo, but there's something about it that just tickles my brain in a good way. And those stock rims, oh, I'd gush about those stock rims but we'd be here all day.
6. McLaren F1 LM (1993)
I didn't want to be biased by adding another McLaren in this list but I HAVE to give my ultimate respects towards the fastest naturally aspirated car, a record that the McLaren F1 still holds today. That's right, no turbo, no supercharger, just raw power from a BMW V8 pushing this thing past Jaguar XJ220, the previous record holder. Unlike most sports cars these days, you can bring 2 friends with you! Yep, this car has 3 seats, with the driver sitting in the middle.
7. Jaguar XJ220 (1992)
But I didn't mention the Jag for no reason. This car back then was mental. The 220 name comes from the 220 mph (354 kph) target that this car was designed to hit, although in actual testing, this car could only reach around 217 (345 kph). I even read that the XJ220 was meant to have a V12, but budget constraints said otherwise and XJ220s today have a V8 instead. The coolest bit of this car other than that low sleek 1990s aerodynamic profile? The pop down headlights. Yep, the headlights retract downwards instead of popping up like typical 90s cars.
8. Pagani Zonda F (2005)
Oh, Pagani, who can forget about you? The Zonda F especially, the F being a tribute towards Fangio (Juan Manuel Fangio), Formula 1's most celebrated champion in the 1950s. I remember this car in the collector's edition of NFS Carbon and later in NFS Hot Pursuit, and have absolutely loved its design since then. Carbon fibre construction, Mercedes-AMG V12, nearly 600 horsepower and top speed of 345 kph (217 mph). If I can have a word for you, Pagani, your new Huayras look shit, but again, subjective opinion.
I have to stop here because otherwise I'd spend the rest of daylight listing other cool (subjective) cars. I'm sure there are a lot others that I don't remember off the top of my head. And I'm having to restrain myself from adding a third McLaren in this list, the McLaren P1 GTR, but I'm sure you can look up info and images about that car yourself.
calling all freaks, calling all freaks, can y'all point me to lists of cars or name some cool cars? i need these cars for my horrendous spreadsheets.
