SECOND EDITION I never knew how Jonathan sang in the past World Tour until I listened to some audios yesterday and found HOW HE HAS PROGRESSED!!! Here's the audio of his performance during the ongoing world tour, clearly he has a better control of his voice, which is thicker (I don't know the term to describe it properly) and less modern as many people may described. He's more tender or maybe I could say more seductive, and I would fall for that.
And our new Christine Grace Roberts , Ah How I adore her voice!!! You would regret it forever if you not listen 😝
AND PLEASE DO NOT POST THIS AUDIO OUTSIDE OF TUMBLR THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
FIRST EDITION
I just wonna write something about Jonathan Roxmouth, especially about his wonderful performance in the ongoing tour in China. What’s most amazing about him is that he changes his way of performing every night! Yes! Every Night. I saw three performances so far, and none of them were totally the same.
I particularly want to share details on 11.3’s evening, when Jonathan was so possessive of Christine. He constantly showed intimate gesture towards her, whispering in her ear, touching her face with fingers during motn. The chemistry between them is perfect.
And I absolutely LOVE how he handle the ‘you try my patience’ line in the final lair that night, probably the best I’ve ever heard. He shouted out the words right after Christine’s I gave my mind blindly’ and Here’s the audio. I’m all blown up.🔥🔥🔥

SUPER HAPPY FUN CLOWN Weaponised female clowning - trailer
‘Infamy equals immortality’ Super Happy Fun Clown is a 2024 horror film about a battered former wunderkind who weaponises her obsession with clowning, serial killers, and classic movie monsters into a night of shocking infamy. The movie was directed by Patrick Rea (They Wait in the Dark; I Am Lisa; Monster X; Arbor Demon aka Enclosure; Nailbiter) from a screenplay by executive producer Eric…

I was wondering if you could make a photoset of Raouls who had fake facial hair?
I know Jay Armstrong Johnson had a fake mustache on Broadway and unless I’m wrong, I believe Matt Leisy wears fake sideburns in the current World Tour
...I was today years old when I learned Jay Armstrong Johnson's Raoul moustache was not real...!!!

That is a perfect fit to him, though! Stellar work.
As for Matt Leisy, his sideburns has varied quite a bit in size. They've been big and fluffy, small and neat, and non-existant. The latter may only be due to press performance, but still - definitely solid and fluffy sideburns here, in March 2019:

And definitely none here, in August 2019:

He has also been seen with smaller, neater, curvier sideburns. And in addition, in this curtain call closeup from earlier this year it definitely looks like wigwork, and that they are coming loose:
Tumblr media
My best guess is that he wears additions as a general rule, but that he's maybe sported his own from time to time?
I am 99% certain Anton Zetterholm wore fake sideburns when he played Raoul in the Stockholm revival. But it matches his hair well, so I may be wrong.

And Li Chengxi in China, as there is a solid conture outlining the sideburns, and they slightly overlap the hair:

And I think Nadim Naaman in West End can be added to the list. Most good photos of it comes from backstage photos, and I think he for some time switched between sporting his own hair and a wig. But these are definitely fake sideburns:

I would furthermore add that some Raouls wears a wig, and in these the sideburns might be a part of the look. But these are way harder to tell apart.
But more Raouls with fake moustaches? I have NO idea tbh!

Hi GP! Is it too much of a bother you could maybe comment on the singing/acting of Jrox & Matt Leisy? Also, will it be adequate to say that respectively they are like Hugh Panaro & Steve Barton, IMHO? Thanks so much!
I did a review of them way back in 2019 or so here, and I did talk about their singing and acting (but more so acting). I also did mention the whole thing about Matt Leisy sounding like Steve Barton and gave a noncommittal "Sure I can see that" lol.
Listening to him again... yeah, I still say I can see that (hear that?). But I find Barton to be even more... baritone-y, I guess, with those gorgeously resonant low notes, and also more soothing, too. But perhaps I'm holding Leisy up to too high a standard; nobody soothes one's fears like Steve Barton.
As for the Roxmouth and Panaro comparisons... I suppose it can depend on what era you're listening to and what scene, and there might be some similarities in their buttery smoothness at points; acting-wise they both descend into childish tantrums sometimes. But if I'm being honest, I don't really hear or see it. Panaro's voice is quite rich but it can also get quite tenor-y too; I'd almost say it sounds piercing, in the best way possible. He also has the most unique inflections and I indelibly associate his singing with that, whereas Roxmouth keeps his pronunciations quite normal. Also, in his first run I remember Roxmouth having a bit of a "rock and roll" quality to his singing that Panaro never had. (And I liked it too! I was a bit sad it was missing from his later performances. But it was definitely a "younger man" type thing to do.) Finally, I'd say that Panaro is all about the childishness, the sarcasm, the giggling and the chaotic gremlin shenanigans. Roxmouth does descend into petulant outbursts too, but I think he keeps things more balanced overall, sometimes becoming overbearing and angry, other times a little insane. Panaro basically goes all the way to the end of the spectrum; Roxmouth hovers more in the middle.

Today marks the fourth anniversary of the first time I watched The Phantom of the Opera live! It was the 2019 World Tour cast with Jonathan Roxmouth, Meghan Picerno, and Matt Leisy.
Anyway, I just want to share this never-before-seen footage of me trying to record the curtain call. I've seen so many videos online of various curtain calls that I thought it was okay to record it (spoiler alert: it's not hahaha!) I was only able to record everything right before the main trio had their bows until the usher covered my phone (lmao), which was kind of disappointing, but at least I have a video up close of the beautiful costumes and the ensemble.
(Side note: I was sitting on the second row!)
