superfamily week prompt ideas - mae kent edition :3

day one:

It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! (art prompt is the obvious mae in flight. alternatively, earth angel of fire with the fire wings! writing wise, you could always do mae as clark/supermanor shapeshifted- referencing her getting mistaken for something else.)

Metropolis & Smallville (mae's universe's metropolis. good prompt for grief, and playing around with the timeline differences between her universe and the primary one- in her universe, none of the hero/villain origin canon events happened, meaning that superboy was the only hero on earth. what might have been different in her world?)

day two:

Across Space or Time (this is a good prompt for stuff during the time she was in exile or during panic in the sky!- draaga, maxima, the cellkeeper, brainiac, wally, barda, ralph dibny, etc. also anything set after she disappears in sg96!)

Friends and Teammates (lots of opportunities for writing her with her friends!! the new titans crew, kon, draaga, lana, elizabeth perske, linda, clark, lois, etc!)

day three:

Singing Stars (maybe something with her and donna and/or kyle? not sure what to do for this.)

Hope (her being the hope of her universe, showcase era, or return of superman era just before sg94! lovely for cloitrix. maybe when she merges with linda.)

day four: this day as a whole seems good for an identity issues fic. her identity as an earthen experiment, someone who is simultaneously a young girl, over 400, and ageless, her life being run by lex and clark ideologically.

Red and Blue (her with the other superfam members.. esp her and clark or kon. maybe exploring america for further red and blue theming.)

Krypton (her and the eradicator, or maybe her and her original universe's crew or the kryptonian criminals from her universe. identity issues. mae meeting kara?)

day five:

Heart of Steel (mae and lex toxicity or mae and draaga loyalty! or show a moment of mae's odd kindness- her using her powers in an odd way to help someone, her invisibly watching over a baby she just saved. thinking to save linda via bonding physically with her. etc)

Civilian Life (give mae some time as a civilian! undercover as clark or just hiding from being recognised in public or having some fun <3)

day six

Up Up and Away (another possible earth angel wings moment! alternatively her flying with the superfam or being the air taxi for one of the non-flying heroes <3)

Of Tomorrow (something messing with her artifical nature- being created by lex, being able to reshape molecules. bonding with kon and eradicator about being artifical with a lack of childhood. alternatively, another opportunity for a post sg96 fic)

Superfamily week is an event centred around Superman and his family (close as well as extended) and we wanted to reflect that through our choices in prompts. Note that the prompts are not mandatory, and can be followed as loosely or as closely as you'd like. They are as follows:

the two major things to look at for people wanting to decipher whether or not a drawing of a blonde white woman wearing a supergirl costume is kara zor el are 1.) the year the issue was written, and 2.) the costume itself.

TIME: if you're reading a comic from the years 1986 to 2003: THAT IS NOT KARA. kara did not just simply DIE during crisis on infinite earths, she was ERASED FROM EXISTENCE. in that time period there were two main supergirls that filled her place: MATRIX (mae kent) and LINDA DANVERS. there are certain instances where kara does appear in either a main universe or elseworlds comic from that time, but in each instance it is exceedingly clear which supergirl is being used.

so, if you stumble across a supergirl while reading something that was written between the years 1986 and 2003, that supergirl is either MATRIX or LINDA.

COSTUME: if you're reading a comic and you see someone wearing the classic, barebones supergirl costume: THAT IS (probably) NOT KARA. kara has only worn the classic supergirl costume a handful of times, and each time it is clear that that supergirl is kara and not mae or linda.

these instances are: any coloring error from a silver age comic that mistakenly makes it so kara's wearing a red skirt instead of her original blue dress, helen slater in the 1984 supergirl film, melissa benoist in cw supergirl, and supergirl rebirth, which was the first time kara wore the classic suit for an extended period of time in a main universe comic.

OTHER THAN THESE SPECIFIC INSTANCES, if you see a supergirl that is wearing the classic costume, it is either matrix or linda or... both? idk I haven't read supergirl (1996), but the important thing to take away is that THIS:

is not kara! pre crisis kara wore a similar suit before she died, but it is still very distinguishable from the classic costume. here's pre crisis kara on the left and matrix on the right:

now, if you're reading a comic and see a supergirl wearing THIS costume:

this is LINDA DANVERS. kara only wears this costume in superman: the animated series, so unless you are watching that (or reading a comic set in that universe), know that this is LINDA and not KARA.

TO SUMMARIZE:

are you reading a comic written between the years 1986 and 2003? if yes: THAT'S NOT KARA.

is that supergirl wearing either the classic costume or white crop top and blue mini skirt? if yes: THAT'S NOT* KARA.

*unless you're watching supergirl (1984), STAS, cw supergirl, or reading a modern supergirl comic. in which case: it IS kara.

in 2004 kara was reintroduced back into main continuity, so from 2004 to NOW every supergirl you see is, more likely than not, KARA:
