iMaster of the House, Carl Theodor Dreyer's silent comedy-drama, is an ironic title, one attached to the film for its release in English-speaking countries. The original Danish title translates as Thou Shalt Honor Thy Wife, and the play by Sven Rindom on which it was based was called Tyrannens fald -- The Tyrant's Fall. It's also misleading to call it a comedy-drama, although it has moments of mild humor and a happy ending. The tone is seriocomic, or as the original title -- which is echoed in the film's concluding intertitle -- suggests, it's a moral fable. Viktor Frandsen (Johannes Meyer), the master of the house, is an ill-tempered bully, constantly berating his wife, Ida (Astrid Holm), who does everything she can to placate him. For example, she asks him whether he wants the meat she will serve him for lunch to be cold or warm. He answers, as usual irritably, as if he can't be bothered with such mundane matters, that he wants it cold. And then, later, when it's served, he snaps, "Couldn't you have found time to warm it up?" Life for Ida is constant drudgery, taking care of routine household chores, as well as looking after three children, the oldest of which is the pre-teen Karen (Karin Nellemose), whom Ida tries to spare from any of the harder chores that might roughen her hands. What little help Ida gets comes from Viktor's old nanny, known to the family as Mads (Mathilde Nielsen), who drops in to help Ida with the mending -- and to cast a disapproving eye on Viktor's bullying. Eventually, Mads arranges with Ida's mother (Clara Schønfeld) for Ida to escape from the household and rest. More worn out than she knew, Ida has a breakdown, and during her prolonged absence Mads takes over the household and whips Viktor into shape. The story arc is a familiar one -- we've seen it done on TV sitcoms and in Hollywood family comedies -- but it gains strength from the performances and from Dreyer's masterly control of the story and use of the camera. Although Viktor looks like a sheer monster at first, we gain understanding of him when we learn, well into the film, that he is out of work: His business has failed. His absence from the house during the day goes unexplained to his family, although we see him walking the streets and dropping into a neighborhood bar. Nielsen, who had also played the role of Mads on stage, is a marvelous presence in the film, although Dreyer never questions whether, as a nanny who used to administer whippings to Viktor, she might not bear some responsibility for the way he turned out as a man. Best of all, the film gives us a semi-documentary glimpse of what daily life was like for a lower-middle-class family in 1920s Denmark (and presumably elsewhere that modern home appliances hadn't yet taken up some of the burden of housework). Dreyer's meticulous attention to detail -- he served as his own art director and set decorator -- extended to the construction of a four-walled set (walls could be removed to provide camera angles) with working plumbing and electricity and a functioning stove, and he makes the most of it. Master of the House is not quite the pioneering feminist film some would have it be: Ida is a little too sweetly passive even after Viktor reforms. But it's an important step in the growth of Dreyer's moral aesthetic and of his artistry as a filmmaker.

In the community play "Somaliske erindringer" seven Danish-Somali citizens took the stage. Together they presented a mosaic story, made both from memories and hopes for the future. The play was presented in the heart of Gellerup, a part of Aarhus which the Danish government had declared a "ghetto" at the time.

Lithographie IV ~ Épilogue à L’odeur de la pierre Un endroit où l’on peut s’allonger, sentir la brise, suffisamment présente pour dissiper la brûlure du soleil et presque trop fraîche à la fois, entendre le bruit lointain de la vallée et aussi le vent dans les cimes, toucher la roche sèche du bout des doigts et la mousse humide tout à côté, le soleil si haut et si près du sommet à la fois, la lumière qui filtre à travers nos mains, un de ces endroits secrets qui me transportent. * Lithographies de mes amours…nouvelle lithographie donc. Cette année 2022 fût pour moi synonyme de lithographies, de pierres, et de beaucoup d’émotions autour de celles ci. J’ai réalisé trois lithographies originales pour les Éditions Azulil, avec en fil rouge mon obsession de toujours pour les textures, la matière, la roche, l’eau, les mousses, le vent… Ma rencontre avec la lithographie a changé non seulement ma vie mais également mon regard sur celle ci et sur l’Art. Quelque chose comme l’explication de ce et pourquoi j’étais qui j’étais. Et Il y avait une quatrième pierre. Qui m’a beaucoup préoccupée, m’a hantée même. Une pierre qui tenait à la fois du bon chemin, du bout du chemin, et d’une pause sur le chemin. Je ne pouvais pas ne pas aller jusqu’au bout de ce chemin. Alors j’ai décidé d’éditer cette pierre, et j’ai demandé à Mathilde Busch de réaliser le tirage. Il n’est distribué que par moi, et j’ai décidé d'un doux tarif pour fêter ça. Is it wrong that there is part of me that needs Delphine and Hamish to meet simply for the prettiness of the actors? Plus think how their dynamic might be, not shipping, just seeing them interact. Maybe. Oh I agree about what you said for Charles and Delphine, right away I noticed it. I can't get on board with her and Cooke, feels forced. It'll be interesting see how that may or may not develop in the next season. I need Nat Geo to announce S2! How were the ratings?

These two on my screen at the same time?? Interacting?? No, they’re both TOO pretty, my heart could never handle it. Really though, I do actually wonder what kind of dynamic they would have, beyond their current one of like... occasionally existing in the room together? They sort of cross paths in the inn at least once or twice that I can think of — when Delphine and Mathilde bring the prune tart upstairs while Hamish has Cross in there, and just generally being around each other in the common room while Hamish & Yvon are at table and Delphine is serving — but yeah, they don’t really pay each other any mind, cause so far it’s been like... What would they have to say to each other, really? Thus far, their arcs have very few plot points in common, and they’re just sort of in different spheres. Maybe if Del stays close to Cooke she’ll have more likelihood of running into Hamish, though I don’t suppose any business Hamish has with Cooke from here on out will be particularly pleasant.

I don’t really like Delphine with Cooke either but that’s just because I don’t much care for Cooke. I understand why it’s happening, though — I understand why he’s into her, and I understand why it’s a smart, practical move for her to consider him— but ultimately I don’t think it’ll be endgame... I just feel such a strong suspicion that the show’s gonna develop something with her and Charles instead. Don’t know that I entirely like that either, but I do actually find Charles more sympathetic and certainly more... dynamic? interesting? than Cooke, so I don’t know.

Honestly, even though I’ve looked at the ratings and such, I’ve no real idea whether they were good or bad. I know the average ep Nielsen rating was 0.07 and average viewers per ep was apparently 704,000, but those ratings are such a stupid metric anyway and like... How does that compare to other Nat Geo shows... Is it good enough... The fandom is small but articles say that it’s had strong viewership and strong reviews... But filming anything is so difficult right now due to plague... And why did Nat Geo advertise it as a limited series to begin with? Elwood & the cast and crew obviously always intended to continue it, but did Nat Geo? I don’t know! I’m wondering whether we ought to start tweeting up a storm at NatGeoChannel about it, whether that would do any good.

La película Wonder Woman 1984 finalmente se estrenó en los cines de Indonesia el 16 de diciembre.

Anteriormente, la película Wonder Woman 1984 estaba planeada para emitirse en junio de 2020, pero se pospuso varias veces debido a la pandemia de Covid-19.

Esta secuela de Wonder Woman cuenta la historia de la hija guerrera de la nación amazónica, Diana Prince, interpretada por la belleza Gal Gadot en la lucha contra el crimen en 1984.
